Guest Reviews
- justinr583 (6/5): Clean rooms, not much more. - This hotel gets the job done, not much more. The rooms are clean and the water pressure is good. There is not a breakfast provided in the morning and there were several small things broken in the hallway and the bathroom. It is somewhat noisy until around 0400 from the bars across the street.
- Lorry04 (6/5): Better than epected - We selected this hotel as many others were taken due to a large conference taking place in Munich. The hotel was well located and walking distance to Munich attractions. The area was quiet at night and the room was decent. The areas to improve is that they need to replace their pillows asap and the shower itself is tiny and too tall to reach, making it easier to slip getting out.
- Clara (8/5): Convient and cheap - Friends and I went for Oktoberfest and this was the most convenient location (and cheapest) for us due to location of the festival grounds and train stations. The staff was friendly enough, neighborhood wasn't the best but never felt unsafe. It was a place to stay at a very busy time of year for Munich so can't complain too much.
- Claudia (10/5): - Staff were very helpful with regards late check in.
My room (No 51) was huge, bright and quiet.
- Christopher (4/5): Old and Outdated Hotel with Friendly Staff - I am hesitant to criticize this hotel since a little more investigation on my part would’ve revealed the regular non-Oktoberfest rate of around €80. At €80, anyone can guess the type of hotel it is, which is a bare bones simple hotel. For the positives, the staff was friendly and helpful and the location was convenient. For the most part the hotel was clean so at the standard price, I would be satisfied.
Some people may complain about the location but we found the people in the neighborhood and local businesses to be extremely friendly. In fact they were very happy to see tourists and provided exceptional service.
Areas to improve on would be:
The pictures online have to be old as the rooms were very outdated including stained grout in the bathroom tile, and stains on the couch.
There is no AC, which seems to be standard in Munich because it was hot and uncomfortable everywhere. Due to the temperature, we did not sleep well.
There was only one iron so once a guest obtained it, it stayed with that guest. The staff refused to check on the return timeline for the iron. The other hotels I stayed at had on this trip did not have a problem asking for the iron so I do not understand the reason for refusing to ask.
Thanks
- Michael (2/5): Hotel not fit for purpose - sleezy, loud & unclean - It's a shame that Hotels.com advetise this hotel. The quality of the room and service was so poor. When we checked in, the male receptionist looked inconcenienced that he had to come to the front desk - he wasn't welcoming whatsoever. The temperature was 32 degrees on the two days we were there. The room was sweltering warm with no air conditioning. We asked the man on reception if there was a fan available. Once again he appeared inconvenienced to even be asked this question. We had to sleep with the windows open above a busy street with bars and clubs playing music until past 1am, people shouting below and the constant strong smell of shisha coming through the window from below - it was vile. There are three 'strip clubs' in very close proximity to the hotel (it was in an unsavoury area). Not family friendly. No tea or coffee making facilities available. The room itself was in poor condition - the weighty curtains were barely hanging by broken or missing plastic hooks. The curtains themselves ended up falling down three times during our visit, so my partner had to attempt to put them back up on the reminants of broken hook pieces. The bed headboard was marked, the sofa was heavily stained, and the tv was broken with such a bad break to the screen that it was unusuable. The bath-shower didn't look clean with black marks inside (they could have been public hairs but I was unwilling to investigate). Very, very poor and a waste of money. Poor experience from Hotels.com!
- Sebastian (6/5): - Es war etwas dreckig und es wurde ein Sexspielzeug in einem Nachtschrank gefunden
- Robert (4/5): - Poor staff, no breakfast. No room service during stay. No fridge..
- Graham (4/5): - This is a very basic hotel. During summer it can get very hot with no air conditioning.
I asked for my room be cleaned but they only gave me fresh towels; they didn’t even make the bed.
- niamhabroad (10/5): Perfect fit for what we were looking for - In town for the Germany v Scotland football game. We wanted a centrally located hotel, close to central train station and Marienplatz. We wanted a clean, comfortable triple room that was good value at the budget end of the market. This hotel delivered everything we wanted. If you are after similar I’d highly recommend this hotel.
- M (2/5): Terrible hotel - It was terrible experience.
The mattress was very uncomfortable, the springs were literally hurting the back. The towels were dirty. The curtain was broken, room enterance was a safety hazard and there is no mention of that, i was about to fall down and stymbled at the enterence.
I checked in around 7:30 and there was no one in the hotel to talk about the problems, in the morning i checked out just before 8am and there was no one at the reception to talk about it
- Elizabeth (8/5): - This location is close to Munich city center. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted which was nice. It is also close to the train station. The street is loud with the windows open, but with the windows closed it isn’t as loud. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in early as well as printed our train tickets.
- James (8/5): - Well priced and located near the train station and old town.
- John (4/5): - Close to the centre but low level hotel
- aura (6/5): - We pnly stayed gor 4hrs prior to a overnight train to Berlin. Showered and had a kebab as that was the limited local eating options
- Emma (2/5): - Do not book this hotel. We felt so unsafe while staying here. You’re close to the train, but that’s not worth it because you’re also close right next to strip clubs. The hotel in itself is dirty. The floors and walls are stained and it needs to be redone. If you stay here, you will not sleep because it is so loud at all hours outside since it was the bars and strip clubs next to it. One of the worst stays I’ve ever had.
- Vivian (8/5): - We just stayed one night so it was ok since it was close to the center of the city. But our window opened to a plaza and a lot of people passwd by late at night and restaurants near by made noise so we did not sleep very well. But overall the room had everything we needed
- Jeanette (6/5): just o.k. - I felt like I was in the middle East. No restaurants close by other than middle East types.Half of the staff was nice & friendly. The room was clean & the bed was comfortable. I had to walk a long ways to find German food. They don't have coffee or tea in the morning.
- Cynthia (8/5): - The staff were wonderful and helpful! The property was older than it reflects in pictures but was okay for our stay. Area outside of hotel was a bit scary but no one really bothered us except the homeless.
- Passport17100759620 (4/5): Disappointed - I hate giving bad reviews but the hotel and service had so many issues for our group.
1) The door knob fell off on the hallway side of our room. My son was in the hotel room & was luckily able to open it, but if you had a younger child it would of caused a serious issue. The older gentleman that was at the desk (2nd day) quickly fixed it. Was very sweet & very cheerful.
2) A friend’s room had water coming out of ceiling light sockets when he checked in. The young girl at desk was absolutely useless & wanted to charge him for a second room instead of moving him. We had only just checked in.
3) Instead of moving him into a new room, they added a cot to the room of another couple traveling with us— without telling them they would be adding someone to their room. Oh - the hotel still had vacancies & rooms available.
4) The area was once very beautiful and looks to be trying to fight the blight that is starting to set in.
The older guy was great but the younger girl had horrible customer service and routinely ignored you.
Munich was amazing though!!
- Joseph (10/5): - Great size of room for the price. Very friendly staff. Convenient, walking distance from many restaurants and shops.
- ErnestandPat (2/5): Horrible nightmare hotel - We traveled as a family with children under 15 y/o. The hotel is located in an unsafe not family friendly area. There is a strip club behind the hotel and an erotica shop few steps from the entrance. We arrived on a Saturday and observed sexual interactions happening in the streets around as well as degrading behaviors between men and women. The parking place is 2 blocks from the hotel $14 per night. There was an old kind gentleman when we arrived but the next day, there was a young lady who was not providing the right information on how to contact the manager. It was weird her answer when we requested to speak in person to him. She advised us to contact only via email. The room was horrible. Old furniture, not flat screen TV as they advertise in Expedia, spots in the carpet, unclean floors, shower with curtain which created a mess in the bathroom, noisy surroundings, we found a pill on the floor (who knows what was that), unclean curtains. They charged $173 per night which is expensive for what we got. We stayed two nights and requested a refund which was giving to us four days after. We had to look for hotels in a rush which tarnished our trip. We don’t recommend this hotel at all.
- Kester (8/5): - All good, but bed not that comfortable and plastic duvet
- Drilon (10/5): - For the price, everything was good. It was clean, warm, and the staff was friendly. They let us check-in earlier. The location was close to Karlsplatz and Marienplatz, also the underground station was close. Many restaurants and fast-food chains were within 5 minutes of walking distance.
- Mike (10/5): - It was a nice stay in Munich.
Just right for my needs.
With plenty of food and shops near by.
Walking distance to Munich Hbf.
- Kevandkels (2/5): False advertising between them and bookings. com - The description when we booked said breakfast included and had a bar. Neither where true, also the standard of the rooms was below what I'd expect and not especially clean. We believe that between the 2 Hotel Deutches Theater sites that the details provided to booking.com were false/incorrect. Very unhelpful staff.
Only positive was location.
- 327paulettet (2/5): Not good. - This hotel is clean. That’s the only positive thing that can be said.
Hotel was in what we felt like was a questionable part of the city.
No air so had to have windows open. Our room was across from theater and street so we had constant noise. Very hard full size bed, pillow was as flat as the floor.
Only one of any size could ride the elevator at a time. We were on 3rd floor and at end of day no one wants to climb 3 flights of stairs.
We put things in the safe and next morning it wouldn’t open.
The one light in the bathroom quit working.
Smoke alarm fell off the ceiling in the middle of the night.
Railbookers booked this for us so we were stuck. So they also get a strike.
If you are thinking of booking this hotel reconsider.
- Bogdan (2/5): - Paid for 2 days and stayed less then 12 hours without refund. Had to stay for a night but left this "hotel" at 4 AM. Area is not save. I'm not racist but area is looking not like Germany but Midle east. With prostitutes on the corners, groups of young men, bazars, and eastern restaurants. The hotel was renovated in 80s. In fact it's not a hotel but hostel for the price of a hotel. Shower was broken in my room. Drain blocked. Internet is worster then free city internet. They have no air conditioning but you cant open windows either. Becouse its noisy and mosquitos. Unfriendly staff and management. Terrible place.
- Baris (2/5): - Hotel had no AC, pillows had sweat stains. No fan or window in bathroom.
- Shakira (6/5): Misleading - The listing for this hotel is misleading and I'm not sure if it's on hotels.com's end or the hotel itself. I booked this hotel because I was arriving fairly late and it had a 24 hour front desk. It also said there is a bar and restaurant at the hotel. These are the things that made me choose this hotel. When we found the hotel, we were told they have 2 hotels with the same name and everyone always thinks its the one we were at. The one we were at did in fact have someone working reception and it did in fact have a bar and restaurant. After looking at the address on hotels.com, the one we are booked for is arpund the corner. Okay, that's not a big deal. When we got to that one, there is in fact no 24 hour front desk. The front desk closes at 1030pm. We were able to get in from another guest opening the door to leave and I found a paper with my name and room number just sitting on the counter (for anylne to see). We called the number listed for after hours check in and we were able to get our key via lockbox. I double checked the listing on hotels.com. The address we were at is in fact the one being advertised as having a 24 hour front desk with a restaurant and bar when those amenities are for the one around the corner with a different address. It felt very bait and switchy. The room itself was basic, bathroom was kind of old and run down, and the area around wasn't great.
The positives: its proximity to the central train station and not far from Marienplatz and all that.
- 444minervah (8/5): Look out to the theater (musicals!) & then walk 10 mins straight downtown - Walk out of the main train station to this hotel. Inner courtyard rooms look directly onto theater, coolness factor, shows at your door and nice artsy outdoor flair, drinks served under the stars before the show. Bathroom with plentiful towels & hair dryer, rooms impeccably clean.
- darrio (8/5): - I stayed here for three nights with a friend (we're both males in our 40s and were more interested in drinking Munich beer than visiting the galleries). We shared a twin room and it was very much adequate for our needs – it was very clean, with comfortable beds, a very hot and decent shower, and friendly staff. It's location is great for the old town and Central Station. I'd stay there again for a basic and convenient stay in Munich. I wouldn't go there on a honey moon, or if I wanted luxury. Could have done with a safe in the room, and my friend would have liked a kettle. But for value for money, this place was perfect for us.
- Jesse (2/5): - Arrived to find no one at the front counter. Other customers who had reservations were there and waiting for what they reported was hours. Tried contacting the hotel to no avail and had to find a different hotel
- Mihkayla (8/5): - We were able to check in early which was very helpful, however the man working the front desk was a bit rude. For example when I asked what floor our room was on he snapped to look at the room key. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent. The room was clean and minimalist but perfect for what we needed. The hotel isn’t located in the best area, lots of clubs nearby so it is noisy but only a 5 minute walk to the train station
- Justin (10/5): - Great stay with a nice location
- Fernando (6/5): - No fridge on room
- martinaz981 (2/5): Unreliable - The day before my arrival they cancelled via email my booking made one month in advance, the reason was overbooking. I tried contacting them but they won’t answer my phone calls. I can’t recommend the hotel, unprofessional and very unreliable. They put me in a lot of trouble.
- 689roxanneb (8/5): Spacious and clean - The room was spacious and very clean. Friendly staffs. Though coudve have better if you atleast have some free coffee in the room or even a water heater to make coffee. But over all it the experience was nice and awesome.
- jenniferw36 (10/5): Zero complaints-good atay - My husband and I booked a double room for two nights after landing in Germany. Because Italy was on lockdown, our plans were derailed and we asked about staying two more nights. The lovely girl at the hotel desk gave us a better rate than Booking.com and included breakfast. The rooms were clean and spacious. All the hotel staff was very nice. The WiFi was a little slow at times. The hotel
Is a little dated but that never bothers us. Easy walk to the train station. Nice walk to the Marienplatz. We would stay here again.
- monylt (6/5): decent hotel for the money - just returned from a 2 nite stay. very handy as others have said for central station(airport train terminal) had a room on the 3rd floor good size. it was to the front but it wasnt to noisy out side. some upgrading does need attended to but it's not to bad. shower was hot and powerful . room was cleaned each day with fresh towels. staff were all helpful and pleasant both reception and cleaning staff . breakfast was €9.90 for all u can eat continental. I used it twice it was lovely
tea, coffee machine, fruit juices
3 x cereals
fresh chopped fruit, yoghurt
toast, rolls
boiled eggs and scrambled
4 x meats
4 x cheeses
various mini pastries
whole fresh fruit
something for everyone to set u up till lunch and on until 10am 10.30 sat sun
the area may seem seedy with the sex shops but never felt overly uncomfortable at any time
a decent hotel for the price .
- Dave (2/5): - Expedia incorrectly represents this property as having King beds - which is why we booked.
No King beds in the establishment.
The building smells like smoke (as it's non-smoking).
The location is in the middle of a very busy late night neighborhood.
We heard music playing from people on the street until 3:30 am.
Someone screamed for about 4 hours one night.
The tub was torn up and did not drain as it should.
- callinobaby (2/5): Avoid - Except for the receptionists, that were pretty good, this hotel is a bad idea to spend an holiday.
Considering the fact that Munich is a boring city, this hotel represents the worst thing about it
Room cleaners often irrupt in the room in the morning without carrying about the fact that you’re sleeping, and the last day we missed 55€ euros that were in our bag
When we did the checkout, they told us to pay 120€ more because we smoked at the window, but the instructions about smoking inside were missing in the room
And if it’s not enough, they discovered the fact that we smoked inside because the room cleaner TOOK A PIC OF MY PERSONAL THINGS WITHOUT ASKING ME ANYTHING to proof that, so the smoke detector doesn’t work.
- Peter P. (10/5): Great central location -- good price -- clean and comfortable - Very convenient location near Hauptbahnhof and adjacent to the Deutsches Theatre, just outside the ring road. Room is clean and comfortable for a short stay. Staff is very congenial and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent character budget hotel, very friendly staff , good breakfast. Refreshing change from the ‘sameness’ of many budget hotels . Good location and excellent eateries nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is located near the main train station and close to the heart of Munich. One can walk to the museum area and the river (Isar) also (if you like to walk, otherwise, there are taxis and public transportation). The hotel was a great place to stay and visit the city. It had a good breakfast (costs extra). The room was very clean (but is beginning to show signs of wear and tear). The TV was nice with a variety of channels. The bathroom was small but modern with great hot/cold running water. The staff was very friendly. We had a double bed but it is one of those German beds that can be separated easily into single beds (but it is hard for them to stay together as a double bed!). There is ample room to hang up/put away clothes. The only complaint I had was that our plane was getting in late and it looked like we would miss the check in time of midnight. So we tried to call and call but no one answered (on our arrival night). We also sent an email. So we were worried that we could not get into our prepaid hotel! When we arrived, there was a system where one could check in after midnight. While we were relieved, it would have been helpful if someone would have explained that to us. We were very worried for several hours. It seems that there is a phone but the ringer was not working/turned off. Other than that concern (which is minor now but seemed much more worrisome on our plane trip), the hotel is really a nice place to stay. We would return to this hotel next year.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The only good thing we found was that the staff on the front desk were very friendly.
Issues we found are as follows:
1) Blood stained bed base
2) Bed bottom sheet comes off exceedingly easily when lying on the bed, revealing bare mattress underneath (not nice to wake up on)
3) There was someone’s chopped finger nail on the pillow of one of the beds
4) We reserved a double bed and got two single beds
5) The beds are on wheels and slide around extremely easily, so you go to sleep in one area of the room and then wake up elsewhere after having rolled over/gently moved around on the bed whilst sleeping
6) Room cleaning staff shout in the corridors early in the morning
7) Staff smoke at an open door at the bottom of the stairwell, with the air flow sending the smoke up to the rooms
8) Whilst we did not expect absolute luxury, this definitely does not seem to be as good a hotel as is made out on the website/ booking websites.
9) Could do with air conditioning.
10) Mattresses were overly soft, even for someone who likes a soft mattress
11) Furniture in the room had bits smashed off it/ damaged
12) Slow internet
Overall, if we knew it was going to be like this, we would have paid more and gone elsewhere or paid significantly less for a similar or better experience in a youth hostel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a great location for touring Munich. We spent four pleasant nights here.
- Wassim (4/5): Could have been better - Elevator did not work, internet was weak and the room was noisy. Anyway, for that money and for one night it is fine.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Shocker! Pay extra for a double room and get given two singles pushed together. They don’t actually have any double beds, this is what the man on reception stated. Also said that the pics on Expedia are photoshopped. Room was filthy, stained beds, dust and a horrid looking toilet. Avoid at all costs!!
- Rebecca (4/5): Becca - We spent four days sightseeing and shopping and the hotel was central enough for that very reason, but the rooms were very tired and bore little resemblance to what was claimed on the Internet,my toilet needed attention on two occasions during our stay, the shower dripped constantly, keeping me awake, stains on the carpets, bare light bulbs, chipped sanitary wear.
- Jaded4n6 (2/5): - Elevator did not work. Was told it is an ongoing problem. Was never able to connect to WiFi. Their network name never appeared as an option. Check-in staff member was no help. They must have been working on the hotel because it was very loud in the morning when we were still sleeping. The rooms are very outdated with a lot of stain in the carpet and broken/cracked fixtures. Hotel is in a bad area of town and you can hear the road noise (loud) as well.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This hotel is in the middle of a bad area surrounded by strip joints and shady people. After checking in I went up to my room and it had not been cleaned - the bed a mess and rubbish everywhere and I was hit with a wall of stuffy stale air as I opened the door. I immediately left and found another hotel in the old town.
- Jerry (8/5): - Location location location
Friendly and helpful staff and a killer breakfast option
- Kelly (8/5): - We had a great stay at this hotel, the bed was comfortable but a little stiff. The hotel staff however did accommodate us with extra pillows. They were very helpful with all our requests!
- Morgan (8/5): Not fancy, but friendly and perfect location - Staff were very friendly, more than willing to accommodate tourists of many languages. Room was old and had clearly had a lot of use, but didn't feel "dirty". Some items were in a state of disrepair, such as the bathroom fan, which was very noisy on three random occasions. All in all, for the price and the location, I would highly recommend this hotel for a visit to Oktoberfest.
- H (4/5): - I wish I had read the reviews on this hotel and listened! The night person was very nice and helpful, the day person was kind of snarly! The room its self...there is no air conditioning, and it was HOT when we were there. We did have a standing fan in our room, and there were huge windows that opened so that that helped. Unfortunately there was a bar downstairs...The carpets are stained and the beds have stains. It has potential but desperately needs updating. It was very close to the train station which was nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Apart from toilet not flushing well, it’s fair for the price
- Ewa (2/5): Dreadful - Dreadful experience, everything was so old... from carpets to chairs to showers...
- Erin (10/5): Great place! - The hotel was located very close to the city centre and a parking garage was also very close.
- James (6/5): Central hotel for a reasonable price - I chose this hotel due to its central location and price. It's within walking distance of the Hauptbahnhof (main station and travel nexus) and the Altstadt (old town) and the deal we got was a good price for the time of year and location. Staff were friendly, and although the rooms felt a little tired- carpets had marks, furniture a bit chipped etc- the room was generally comfortable. An ideal base for exploring Munich if you're happy not to have any frills (for example, there was no A/C in our room).
- Amanda (6/5): - The hotel was not in a great area, did not feel safe walking on the street as 3 females. The hotel is very old and outdated with not the most comfortable beds. Shower was strange with only a half door making for a mess on the floor.
- David (10/5): - Excellent medium size hotel very convenient to city centre & main station
- Doc (6/5): - Although hotel and staff were good, lack of AC forced window to be open and street noise was awful
- Marti (8/5): - The hotel was quite close to the city center and tourist attractions, and not far from the train station. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bathroom was clean but the shower could use some grout cleaning or replacement. There was loud street noise from men arguing late at night but tbis could be avoided by asking for an inside room. Overall I was pleased with my stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Safe but worn - Furniture and carpet look due to be replaced. Structurally sound but worn. Great service and convenient location but it is time to reinvest in the property.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Munich - Perfect location for appointment at the Augenklinik. Staff very friendly. 10-15 minute walk from Hauptbahnhof. Several restaurants in area.
- Mike (4/5): Extremely dissapointed - The hotel was extremely dissapointing, the level of service was very poor, the elevator wasn't working during my stay and the room wasn't cleaned the first 2 days....
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Breakfast was good. Reception staff very friendly.
- Robo (8/5): Comfortable hotel close to the centre of Munich - This hotel represents very good value for money, including the excellent breakfast at just 9 Euros. While the rooms were a little tired and the location is now being overtaken by ethnic shops and sleazy nightclubs, it is a clean, well-run hotel where I felt completely safe. It is just a short walk to the main railway station and and even shorter walk to the underground at Karlsplatz.
- William (6/5): A bit shabby, but otherwise fine. - This hotel is fine. I stayed there with some friends during Oktoberfest based on the proximity to the fest itself. There isn't anything intrinsically wrong with the hotel, it's a bit shabby and dated, but the service was decent and it never felt unsafe or unclean. I wouldn't actively seek to stay there again, but I also wouldn't refuse if presented again in the future.
- spencer (6/5): Needs a reno - Shower was small and could not regulate the temp. Room was a weird shape, but decent.
- Mati (8/5): good location between central train station - The hotel is between train station (central) and old town just minutes away! This is rather a basic hotel but decent. Spacious room and washroom. TV mostly German channels. Good internet and free. The only downside is that it could be loud from the backyard (if your room faces the back) as there is a courtyard there and it magnifies people talking etc.
The area dominated by Turkish people and little shops. Safe!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Just good enough - Although close to Marienplatz, this did not appear to be in a good part of town. Mattresses were old, doors required key locks and you had to hand them in each time you left the building, generally just mediocre place. Bathrooms were good, though.
- Dwight (10/5): A Munich gem - A gem of a hotel just four block away from the train station and close enough to other venues make this a great hotel. The staff was uber fantastic, some had character that matched the hotel's charm which added to the great experience here.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Unfortunately one never knows when construction is going on, and our room was facing the street, with incredibly loud noises. this is an older hotel which generally wouldn't bother me but the beds were like marshmallows
- Tim (8/5): - Great location, rooms spacious & clean, staff really nice and friendly. Will stay again for the price.
- Garth (4/5): DT Munich - Very old hotel that is in desperate need of an upgrade. clean rooms reasonable staff friendliness and average breakfast buffet.
- Steve (6/5): ok hotel close to train station - The hotel provided a convenient base for a couple of days but I would not recommend it for a long stay;
- Scott O. (10/5): Quick get-away - Hotel and staff was really nice. The staff are really friendly, inviting always met with a smile and couldn't do enough for you. The only thing was the Internet was a little jumpy but in saying that your not on holiday to be on your phone or tablet. The location is amazing two minutes from main train station plenty of restaurants and cafés around about and lots to see. I for one will definitely go back can't wait.
Keep up the good work.
- Andrea (10/5): great service from staff - Great hotel in the theatre area. Head in one direction towards the old town and all is good, the other direction is questionable. Fantastic service and advice from reception desk staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Was a nice hotel in a good location. Would recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): bike tour - Front desk personnel were terrific and accommodating. Enrique was especially great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): good hotel in the center of Munich - First, the location is great. The staff is friendly, the room is comfortable. And for the price it is an acceptable decent safe hotel. On the downside, the room has no air conditioning, the neighborhood is so so however it is safe. And there is no included breakfast unless you pay 9 euro and it is not a great breakfast. They also charge you if you want a cup of coffee. There is no coffee and tea in the room or a kettle to boil water, however the staff will boil the water for you if asked. the room did smell like cigarette smoke, and it was noisy if you are on the street however the noise is talking and cars not music. despite some negatives I would recommend this hotel because of its location and the staff and because it is safe and clean. It is a good value for the price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dissapointing and uncomfortable. - Loud area, hot room, no fan or air conditioning, no fridge, uncomfortable pillows and worst of all.. Bed bugs.. We had a group of friends staying throughout the hotel and this unfortunately, was not an isolated incident!
- Emily (4/5): Don't stay here! - I'm not one for leaving reviews but I am so disappointed with this hotel I thought it necessary. We stayed here for our last night on holidays and were left bitterly disappointed. We arrived around 2pm to find the man at the welcome desk outside smoking a cigarette, not the best first impression. We were given a key, which we had to give back every time we wanted to leave the hotel. The room itself is old and worn out. It looks very old fashioned and some of the furniture was broken (the lamp, the desk). Despite having a bath/shower, we were unable to have a bath as it seems that the lever had been tightened so that we couldn't use it. The TV signal was too bad to watch anything. The wifi kept dropping in and out and was weak at best. The beds were abysmal. I have woken up today with a bad back & neck from the bed.
It said on our booking this room had climate control. This was incorrect. We were stifling hot in our room. We had the windows open but the street outside is SO LOUD. Passed midnight there were crowds of people shouting, motorbikes and cars racing up and down the streets, people chucking glass and whatever else so hard that is smashed. We were woken up at 5:30 by a car alarm that no one bothered to switch off, followed by more smashing glass and motorbikes. The only decent thing about this hotel is that it is close to the centre.
Overall I am very dissatisfied with this hotel. I would never recommend it to anyone. I suggest you find elsewhere.
- stacey (4/5): Hotel is not air conditioned and in loud area - Room was extremely hot, no ac, no fridge. It is not in a great area. Don't go as a female on your own. Also be prepared to not sleep well due to people yelling loudly in the courtyard below and smoke coming into your room. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the best part of this hotel experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Worth the money - Good location, close to city center. Yummy breakfast for 9 EURO! The reception can be nicer.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The internet was slow but the location was good. It's near sketchy streets but you can take the long way around.
- Igor (8/5): - Hotel was OK for a 3 starts property. Location is Ok, if you are coming to Munich on train, however, it's a bit too far if you have to carry a heavy bag (it's too close for a taxi )
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect.... - Good service, nice staff, ok location... lugage room for free
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Decent, low-end hotel within walking distance of two main public transit hubs. First night was problematic -- non-smoking room had been smoked in (a lot), but hotel staff moved me the next day once rooms opened up. Pretty easy to get to, and easy walking to public transit @ Karlsplatz. Within easy striking distance of the Altstadt.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice for the price - I stayed here for a birthday celebration weekender. The staff were great and welcoming. I would defo stay here again. The beds were fine, pillows were goose feather so we're very comfy. Only slight gripe would be the small ledge between the room and bathroom which I cut the bottom of my foot on so be careful if you have a room with this lip and your in your bare feet. Overall a really nice stay
- Simarill (6/5): Deserve better reviewes than given - Booking the hotel bec in need to find a cheap place to stay close th the railway station. Didn't read the reviews before after we booked, and were really worried.
We all got pleasantly surprised. The room were big and clean, as were the bathroom. The staff were helpful and polite. Situated in the city center, it's lots of places to eat outside the hotel. And the next morning we had a 3 min walk to the railway station.
This hotel deserve better reviews than given.
- Spectre (4/5): Look elsewhere - 1. There was no hot water. We had to wait for an hour before it was fixed (1am).
2. The Wi-Fi did not work properly. It would drop out a lot, and when it was working, it was very slow.
3. The carpets were very dirty. The bed mattresses were horrible beyond belief.
4. The street outside was very noisy for most of the night. Lots of yelling and screaming out there that came through the windows, even thought we were 4 stories up.
Expedia should monitor the reviews. Hundreds were listed, but few exist. Most of them are repeats. Read carefully! I didn't realize this until it was too late. This is one of few faults with Expedia, which I like more than the other sites.
- Karen (10/5): Great location near Munchen Hbf! - Awesome location near the train station, especially for our early train ride from hauptbahnhof to the airport. Nice rooms and really great staff at check-in! Even though we weren't in Munich the see the theater we loved this hotel's location to the theater...as in right outside our hotel window. We would stay here again.
- David (8/5): As Expected - Nice hotel, pretty much as expected. It is a bit of a hike from train station, but no problem with cab. Neighborhood is busy and alternative. Rooms were clean, comfortable.
- Martin (6/5): Worth a look. - Friendly and helpful staff.
Immediate location is not the best, can be quite noisy at night but close to main station and other transport links. However, balanced by being within easy walk of good shopping and entertainment areas, restaurants and other places of interest.
Room was quite large (but very small TV) but could do with refurbishment as could the public areas.
Good breakfast buffet.
Overall it was quite reasonable considering the price bracket and city centre location.
- Michael (4/5): Shoddy internet - Shoddy internet; blocks isp outbound servers so if you have webmail and outlook you cannot send email. One router and a different password for each floor which are unexpectedly offline. Expect to use starbucks in marienplartz if you book here. Even the local hostel wombats offers larger single rooms-better service-more consistent internetand similar breakfast, for half the price.
- Natalie (6/5): you get what you pay for - Good location but too noisy and too outdated. They need some renovation. Nonetheless good enough to stay for one night, but if you are planning to stay there more than one day it would be better to look for another hotel.
- Sharon frequent traveler (2/5): Don't do it - Hotel was disgustingly filthy. I got bed bugs. Left hotel in the middle of the night because bed bugs were seen crawling on my pillow. It is not a hotel but a hostel at best.
