Guest Reviews
- Judit (3/5): Quite disappointing - Location is good, and receptionist was friendly, but could not helped teh poor quality of room and lack of hot water. I was offered a basement room which had a strong cigarette smoke smell and was swapped to a anotehr room, but the cleaniless was not great (curtains fraying, window not tidy). I found there was no hot water provided, base did nothave a hot water tap, the shower water was not even luke warm .

- Saskja (1/5): Long story short - if you like clean and friendly - this is NOT for you! - This will be short - the location was great and an easy walk from the tube. If you like rude staff, who hide the breakfast items from you - call you names and snoop around your room that is at best grubby - then you might be ok with this place. hen we got here another guest stopped us and said 'Dont be afraid of the rooms' - this was a sign of what was to come.
We got up the first 4 flights of stairs, only to be greeted by the smallest, tightest most dangerous staircase in London, this lead to the top floor.
Our room as so outdated and so grubby/dirty. The bathroom is so small and is like a plastic box - like a bathroom in a ferry cabin (but the ferry would be about the same age as the Titanic)
The room is stuffy and we didn't expect air con due to this being London but after a warm day it was stifling in there.
When we returned at the end of our firs day, our bags had been moved (our bags were on the wrong beds)- this wasn't for cleaning as nothing was cleaned, beds were still unmade, bin not changed etc - just our bags moved and mine was unzipped half way.
We went to breakfast ay 8.45 - to grab some coffee and toast (breakfast finishes at 9) and the man was so annoyed that we had the gaul to show up 15 mins before the end of breakfast. He took away the toaster and bread and said if we want breakfast we need to get up earlier. He then went on a rant about how busy the place was, that he could get twice the price for our room as is was London marathon weekend - and then went into a very personal rant about how as 2 older omen (both in our 40s) we needed to stay active so the stairs were good for us - in particular me as i was 'FAT'.
I wouldnt even stay in this hovel again if you paid me twice!
- Tore (3/5): -
- alexis (6/5): - Very friendly staff Very thin quilt and heating didn't work. Bed wasn't very comfortable
- Mordillat (5/5): - Le petit-déjeuner est rudimentaire et décevant.
- Sónia (10/5): Agradável - A localização é a limpeza Faltava fruta no café da manhã
- Kathy (4/5): Reasonable price considering location but over all poorly maintained - Location was decent. 20 minute walk to King’s Cross st pancreas Very run down inside, carpets stained. Paint peeling.
- Veronica (7/5): - La posizione Bagno inesistente
- Stella (6/5): -
Vieta labai gera.
Tik lipti 3 aukštus siaurais laiptais gali būti iššūkis. Pusryčiai - uzsistovėję dribsniai, duona, džemas ir riešutų sviestas. Kava tragiška, tirpi. Kavos aparato nėra, kiaušinių nėra. Tai neskaityčiau kaip ,,įskaičiuoti pusryčiai". Kaina paskutines dvi dienas nukrito 100 eur už 3 naktis, tai jaučiuos gerokai permokėjus.

- Ms Gitanjali Vijay (2/5): A traumatic and unsafe experience where I was harassed by staff and abandoned by Booking.com!! - The location was the only positive aspect of the stay. Aside from that, there was nothing else that I liked about the property or the service provided. The room was a dusty storage space with old carpets and a foul-smelling blanket in the cupboard. The layout was unusable, and despite being told the heating was fixed, I was left shivering in the cold.
- Cathal (6/5): - Location Not very clean
- José Francisco (8/5): - Situation. ..
- Daniel (8/5): - Good location
Ho evitato sempre i mezzi pubblici Vecchia e sporca
- ashid (3/5): -
- Steen (1/5): -
- Theis (2/5): -
- Mohapatra (7/5): A decent place for short stay - Staff behaviour Place is bit congested
- Mirella (7/5): -
- Paul (7/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful Breakfast options were very limited.
Shower had a leak and is positioned on the wall next to the taps, thus when standing under the limited water you knock the taps and either change temperature or switch of the water.
- Anna (6/5): - hezké místo, blízko centra podkrovní pokoj, povlečení propálené, koupelna měla 1x1,2m, v pokoji něco značně hlučelo
- Gunnar (2/5): -
- Jenny Julissa (7/5): - Juglar Hhh
- Giulia (8/5): -
- Mariia (5/5): The location and price were great - Great location Breakfast options were quite limited, and the bathroom was very old and not pleasant
- Osberry (8/5): -
- Michelle (3/5): Polite enough staff coffee and toast was good in the morning but dirty room and landings - Hosts were polite The cleanliness was not up to standard at all, not hoovered cleaned the kettle myself furniture broke and handles broken on wardrobe.
- Nora (5/5): - The room was clean. My friend didn't stay at Hotel but was allowed to visit me. The very small shower room and the toilet position. Limited space in the bedroom. The room next door was much nicer and spacious 408.
- Leannesswift (2/5): Utterly terrible, you are being exploited. - Central location and making the most of exploiting people who are in need.
I arrived and it felt like I was booking in to a Mexican hotel, chipped paint, kiosk with obscured glass, and a barely communicative recptionist with piles of rubbish behind them, the only thing missing was a sombrero and a barking sem-rabid dog.
The state of the place was diabolical, worn filthy carpets, stinking bathroom, completely worm out furniture, and decor which was probable last touched, badly, in the 1980s. I didn't even dare risk the shower which looked like it was held together with chewing gum.
If you want to feel unwelcome in the city, then by all means go for it, otherwise it was a place to put my head for the night for which I am grateful, but not for anything else, never, ever, ever returning.
- Benton (3/5): Cheap, but not so cheerful - Good location, easy to check in Bed was old and dirty, you could feel the springs popping out.
The bathroom was something out of a camper van and the water pressure for the shower was non existent.
Walls are paper thin so you can hear what all the other rooms are getting up to and also the staff shouting to each other when resetting rooms.
- Clare (3/5): Basic, good location, but needs an update. - Location was good and central for what we wanted to do Room was small and very basic. En-suite was tiny and bed hard and you could feel every spring.
Breakfast was just toast and cereal.
- Michael (9/5): Worthwhile, especially since it was a last minute booking. - I had a good night's sleep ..... something of a rarity in my experience.
No reasonable person would complain. Nothing. It was all quie god.
- Adam (4/5): For the price paid for a hotel in London on a Saturday night I wasn’t expecting much but this hotel was far worse than e - Good location but that’s about it Not clean, poorly maintained
- Holly (5/5): -
- Lee (1/5): But a tent & stay on the street, it would be better - What did I like?
Can’t think of anything that would make me feel better about this place.
The local rats don’t even use this place How long have we got?
- Jastin (7/5): I am happy to stay and maybe one day i will come again - Improve the breakfast services the breakfast provided is no matching the price people pay. Nothing i didnt like all i can say they are doing their best to help people
- Aidan (6/5): - Great location for the museum, and much more affordable than other places for a short stay. warm at night, all necessary facilities. handy desk for doing some book study in the evening also. Bed was strangely tilted to the left a little. difficult to get comfortable, could have done with more than a single pillow. maybe a headboard too.
- Aurelia (7/5): -
No vimos bichos.
- Jane (5/5): - great location The breakfast was rather basic
- lilia (2/5): - Location close to the main roads Bathroom dirty, shower very little water come out, good luck if you trying wash your hair. very noisy road , , breakfast continental should have more choice like pastries ( croissants/pain au chocolat) fresh fruits, ham /cheese . Yogurt.
Very poor choice of breakfast. Breakfast isn't only cerelas and bread.
- Palewicz (5/5): -
- Faye (5/5): -
- Aimee (1/5): Avoid at all costs you would be better of staying in a youth hostel than this place ! - Nothing it was absolutely awful I opened the wardrobe and the door fell off , the bathroom I’ve seen bigger in a tourer caravan infact I think it had come from a tourer caravan., really noisy the person in the room next door continuously slamming the door and lots of noise in the street at night time . I didnt sleep a wink at all I thought someone was going to come into the room or something. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly because someone else’s shower gel was in the shower still if it had been cleaned properly they would have spotted it . The shower had 2 trickles of water coming out of the end of it . Not very good at all .
- Hillary (1/5): - The bed was not comforrable.
The shower head was too small. Enough water not coming out from the shower.
Heating was off and on
Breakfast was poor. No enough variety to chose from
- Paulo Dias (4/5): -
- Peter (8/5): -
- Cinzia (1/5): Utterly appalling. Avoid at all costs. - It is central It was appalling. There wasn't hot running water. There was no duvet. The buttons poled up from the mattress. There were carpet remnants piled up. The bathroom was tiny (I opted not to shower as the facilities were so bad). There was no wifi. There was only one plug socket. It was dirty. It smelled like the 70s.
- SOUMYANIL (7/5): -
- Burddette (8/5): Handy hotel for Kings Cross - Room was clean and hot but could hardly move in the bathroom. It is an old house though, so is to be expected. Continental breakfast was okay.
- Stuart (4/5): -
- Success (10/5): Comfortable - It’s affordable for the location. I could walk to multiple location in central London
- David (8/5): One or two night stay - We've stayed a few times this year
Comfortable bed,shower ok.
Cheapest bed and breakfast in kings cross
Toast and cereal for breakfast, self service
Fine for one or two nights
- Robert (2/5): - All the rooms smelt like smoking had taken place in them
- Olliver (10/5): Excellent Base of Operations - Really lovely hotel with character. Loved the oddly shaped rooms. They were clean and the bed was AMAZING. I have mobility issues and they were brilliant, offering a room on the ground floor.
This hotel is not suitable for someone in a wheelchair though as the reception is up 10 steps, but otherwise 10/10.
- Maurizio (6/5): - OK for one night passing through
- lindasL8264PQ (4/5): Mediocre, and best avoided. - The standard of decoration of the room was very poor and the aesthetics abysmal. The room was never serviced even though I spent 3 nights in the hotel. The "hot" water in the shower was hot on only 1 day out of three. The other two days I would describe it as "not quite cold". Breakfast was the least inspiring I have experienced in any hotel, anywhere in the world, in all my 72 years. On the second and third mornings I didn't even bother eating beakfast. Going hungry seemed preferable. Wifi is available, but only if you pay extra..
On the other hand, the room had all the basic necessities, and everything worked.
The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. There were no traces of bed bugs. (I checked carefully.) Lighting was good, and I could read a book or put my makeup on without any difficulty.
I feel that the owner is exploiting guests. For the price I paid, it should have been much better.
I had to travel to London at short notice, most hotels in the area I needed to stay in were fully booked, and I only booked this one because it had vacances. (I didn't have time to study the reviews.) I now know why it had vacancies. May it have many more of them in future.
- Ciaran (2/5): Stains, unrepaired damage and bed bugs! - The room was very poor. It it tired, scruffy and in a generally poor state. The bathroom was terrible. Although it didn't appear to be actually dirty there were stains and damaged things everywhere. The window didn't open and the extractor fan didn't work. Finally I have returned home to find I have bed bug bites over my body. I will be reporting them to the environmental health authority for the area.
- philip (6/5): Decent but very basic overnught stay. - Very conveniently centrally located. Clean vacuumed room. Very very tired. Old Curtains that simply don't close . Rubbishy breakfast. Ultra tiny shower room.
- Linda (2/5): - Upon arrival i was rudely told i couldn't check in for another 2 hrs, no problem i took a walk. The place was filthy , i did take pics. On the Saturday when i was out someone was in my room , the bin was emptied but rubbish, that was not mine, was on the floor. The bed was like a brick, my window was cracked. The door key stopped working and I was told to move the lock when i went out so that I could get back in , leaving the door open and accessible, i asked for another towel....that seemed an inconvenience, even though the one that was left just about went round my 8stone frame. The shower/toilet was a joke....i wish i could include my pictures!!!!
- Denis (2/5): Disappointed and Misled - This is not a hotel and should not be advertised as one. The top floor is difficult to reach—even for someone in good shape, and the narrow staircase is essentially impossible for those with limited mobility. The room is outdated, with stained carpets and a bathroom that doesn’t match the photos. Breakfast is very basic: just toast with jam or Nutella, instant coffee, cornflakes, and cheap orange juice. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with this place.
- Mohanad (3/5): Not good at all - Location is good Soo unclean and extremely small room, the mattress was bad can’t sleep and the room and floor carpet smells very bad .
- lynda (2/5): Practical but not very comfortable - Good location, friendly staff. Very primitive hotel room (still paid £108 for one night!), with minuscule extremely old fashioned bathroom.
- Darren (10/5): Very good - Very good Very good
- Colin (1/5): -
- Dhylan (7/5): - Location, Shower, bed
- B5810TCmartined (2/5): Awful - The room was small, dirty and cramped. I could sit on the toilet and wash my hands in the sink and feet in the shower at the same time. I inspected the bed before I laid in it, and I saw no bugs, BUT, when I pulled the covers on the sheets had an awful stench of old man sweat. I threw the sheets of and slept without. Had to buy new ones on the day after. The breakfast was toast, jam and cereal. The coffe was instant with a solid amount of cobwebs on it. Stay away from this place, just spend the extra cash and get a good experience elsewhere.
- Sergio (4/5): -
- Phillip & Maryse (4/5): - No lift stairs very steep
awful smell in corridor and room had ask for room deodorant to sleep in
No refrigerator
No phone to call reception
No remote for tv had to ask for one
Combined Shower and toilet so small I have been on ships with bigger approx 1.5m X 1m in size
- Lauchie (5/5): Good location - Location was good It was very dated and scruffy curtons were old and not hanging properly bed was pretty hard
- Thomas (10/5): - Lovely
- Edle (10/5): 10/10 - Great staff, very understanding and accommodating. Thank you.
- Abraham (7/5): -
- Julie (1/5): Very poor - The bed was clean and short walk to Russell Square tube The curtains and net curtains could not close and hanging off the wall. The bedroom smelt like cigarettes there was even a lighter on the windowsill. The whole building also smelt like stale cigarettes. Spoke to staff about didn’t want to know. Very run down to the point not sure how still open. Declined breakfast due to how dirty and grubby everything was.
- rebeccaj582 (2/5): Poor standard ‘hotel’ - Unfortunately my friend booked this without looking at reviews!
The twin room was very small and up 4 flights of narrow stairs. Room appeared clean but very tired at first impression. Bathroom was very old, tiny and although fairly clean, the plastic structure was stained and damaged. There was a stagnant water smell. The shower was incapable of holding heat and pressure at the same time despite following the instructions given. No plug in sink. Minimal toiletries. Very small bath towels.
Beds were tatty divan style with no mattress or pillow protectors but bedding all appeared clean and fresh. Mattresses were somewhat sunken and one very creaky. There was noisy pipe sounds throughout the stay.
Main lampshade was hanging precariously from ceiling and over bed light was loose on wall. Shelf above bed was unusable as also poorly secured on the wall. There was a large, badly filled crack down the wall and a hole in the wall at floor level with a wood repair and protruding screws.
Neighbourhood area was fairly quiet but we were awoken at 5am by a neighbouring room slamming the door on leaving. Further doors also banged and a very loud non English speaking couple having a heated discussion in a nearby room. All before 7am!
It seemed more like a residential setting than a hotel room.
Kettle and tea/coffee plus mugs but no spoons.
We didn’t try continental breakfast which was included as it was 730-9am only.
Very over priced stay for such poor standard.
