Guest Reviews
- Peter (10/5): - Pleasant, helpful staff. Room small but adequate - clean and comfortable. Ideal location. Two minute walk from Central Station.
- John (8/5): - It met our needs for this trip.
- Rose (4/5): - Room has no shelving, dated, shower leaks and bathroom mirror rusty all 4 corners
- Alex (6/5): - Lots of drunks outside property not very clean
- BIN (6/5): - The major pluses are it is near to Munich Center Station, Lufthansa Express Bus, shopping, eating places and city center. The room is clean, but mattress is soft.
The negatives are hotel does not have AC, have to open window, and streets below the room are busy and noisy until early morning hours.
Conclusion, will recommend because of its location and clean room
- Christina (10/5): - Friendly, helpful staff. Great location to explore on foot. Near to main bus and train stations as well
- Robin (8/5): - The staff were excellent. Noisy area but conveniently located
- Alvin (8/5): - 提早下午一點多就能入住,有電梯,房間內有吹風機和電風扇,隔音尚可,分隔浴室和房間的牆上有個洞可以看到裡面的人在洗澡。房間內有點熱沒冷氣。
- Nazir Ahmad (8/5): - Good option to consider
- Martin (8/5): Good and affordable near Hbf - I was looking for a simple, affordable place to stay near the Hbf and this was exactly what I needed.
- Abhijit (6/5): - The property requires a little more room for 3 people.
- Mandeep (6/5): - Pretty good location. Right next to Munich HBF. No fans or AC though so we had trouble sleeping because the weather was consistently 31 to 32 degrees Celsius when we stayed.
- Grant (10/5): - A clean and simple hotel right next to the Central Train/Bus station. It's a good option if you're looking for a cheaper place that is within walking distance to most major sites and literally a block away from metro and tram lines.
- Anusha (6/5): - Location is great, within 7 mins of main train station however noisy and the locality seemed dodgy. Absolutely loved the free machine coffee in the common room.
- Johanes (6/5): - Minutes from Haupbanhof that has long distance trains, S and U bahns, trams, and buses. 20 min walk from Marienplatz.
Booked a room for 3. Very small room not enough space if all 3 had luggages. We were only provided 2 sets of towels. Room was quite warm with no AC. Not quite sound proof and unfortunately the street it is on is where the taxis park and you can hear the conversations all night long.
Coffee and tea provided. Reception till 10pm ish? Room was straightened daily, as in they straightened our beddings and provided new towels.
Would book for convenience only.
- PETER (8/5): - Convenient and value for money
- Cristina (8/5): - Great location.
It is simple but clean.
- Pawel (10/5): - All good. Great common area with coffee service.
- Steven (10/5): - Great location, clean and tidy rooms
- Devin M (10/5): Great stay and location in Munich - We had a fantastic stay at Creatif Hotel Elephant! The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the location was excellent for walking into the old part of town.
The operators of the hotel were exceptionally helpful and provided great recommendations for places to go. The Augustiner Keller just down the street was a high point of the visit.
- therichastill (10/5): Perfect Location If You Need the HauptBahnhof - I was arriving in Munich by train and leaving using the same method of transport. As a result I looked for a hotel that was pretty close to the railway station so when it came to departure I would not have too far to go from the hotel to the station.
I decided to stay at Creatif Hotel Elephant as it is literally just a couple of streets away from the station.
I arrived in the city about an hour ahead of check in but once 2pm arrived I headed for the hotel. The lady at reception was very welcoming and explained everything I needed to know and also provided me with a map so I could get around the city.
My room was near the front of the hotel but I did not get any unwelcome noise and the room had everything I needed, a comfy bed, a desk and a decent bathroom. Plus it was very clean and I loved the decor, really bright.
I had a really good night's sleep and used the shower, it was really refreshing and just what I needed. I had a few hours before my train to my next destination so I was able to leave my bag in their luggage room and then go and explore the city.
I returned later and collected my belongings and left to continue my journey.
- Jeannette (10/5): Midweek stay with family. - Great location for train station. Reception staff helpful. Free tea / coffee machine in reception until 9pm.
Thought might be noisy with all taxis outside - but quiet overnight.
Stayed 2nd floor midweek .
4 mins to train station.
Plenty food outlets and bars nearby.
- David (6/5): - Not good
- Steven (10/5): Excellent basic hotel near the Central Station. - Fifth year in a row staying here and I’ve never been let down. Basic hotel but comfortable, warm, and the shower was excellent. And there’s a terrific coffee shop next door. Plan to stay here many more times.
- Thomas (10/5): - Would definitely stay again very clean and very nice staff. Easy walking distance to the main station and to top it all off free tea and coffe.
- Emma (10/5): - Very convenient location, staff are wonderful and extremely helpful for finding activities to do around Munich!
- Felipe (10/5): - Close to central station and metro.
To hotel is pretty basic but its ok
- Renu (10/5): - Location was great as we arrived to the bus station and left from the train station ( both a few blocks away from the hotel) . Also we rent a car and the pick up location was a block away.
The area was not the great but 15 mins from munich center . Good and clean rooms
- O491CUjasons (8/5): What I expected - Nice budget hotel only a few minutes from central train station, good base to see and explore Munich, everything in walking distance.
Close by many restaurants to choose from and variety of shops to keep all happy, including supermarkets.
For the price and location very happy to stay here again.
- Benedict (8/5): - For a no-frills budget stay near the train station this hotel was fine. The bathroom was very clean. The furniture was worn but clean. The bedding was new and clean. My room smelled of something that might have been pest control; if so it worked because I had no uninvited guests. The hot water was HOT, so be careful.
- Michaela (4/5): Do not stay here! - This was a terrible stay. The property is run down and is missing the basics. The mattress is at least 30 years old and completely worn down to the point that I was afraid to move because the sides just collapse down. Broken tile in the bath, old wires hanging out of wall, and only one plug to charge your phone - across the room. Forget about usb ports or coffee. It feels like a jail cell and was expensive. Loud neighborhood (not in a good way). The drapes were filthy. When I complained, they said “we’re doing our best.”
- Tony (8/5): Bare basic hotel with excellent location - If you're looking for a place just to sleep and shower with a great location this is the place, absolutely no amenities this hotel doesn't even have ice but your three minute walk to the main train station and public transportation
- Thomas (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and approachable, however upon arrival we noticed the room did smell a little damp and were worried that there were no fire alarms in the room.
Also the room got very warm and a fan or air conditioning would have been greatly appreciated
- Stephanie (4/5): - Staff at this property were all lovely but the age is showing in the rooms. The shower was really small and the hot water pressure was terrible. Location is perfect for exploring Munich (super close to the Bahn and walking distance to the city centre) so if you are just looking for a place to crash at the end of a long day exploring it will be fine.
The area around it is quite dingy and there is lots of homelessness in the area- it was fine in summer with the long days but I wouldn't want to walk around the area in the dark.
Overall I wouldn't stay here again but it is cheap and convenient.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Basic hotel near the train station and was next door to where I dropped off my rental car. So was an ideal location for one night. The front staff was helpful. My room though on the street was quiet and clean. The area can be busy with the over flow of taxis waiting for the train station.
- Sergio (8/5): Good hotel for a few days - The hotel is very near or the train station, city centre and lot of facilities
- Giorgi (2/5): - No AC!!!!!
- Charles (8/5): - friendly staff
- kaoru (4/5): - I can’t use WC and rags left the bathroom. I went to hotel at midnight. So I have no choice.
- Deborah (10/5): - I appreciated being able to have a modest, affordable lodging option so near the Munich Hbf. The rooms were spotless and not fancy but had absolutely everything necessary and even extras like water glasses, soap in the showers, a hair dryer and a generous supply of towels plus a drying rack. We did not use the television but one existed, as well as complimentary tea and coffee in a very well-decorated and appealing lounge/dining area downstairs. I loved the bright colors in use for the decor, it is very nice. When we arrived we were exhausted after something like 30 hours in transit. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and check-in was quick. The hot beverage was so appreciated as I was too tired to look for food; peppermint tea and sleep! The street location is a bit noisy with many taxis parking nearby but this is not the establishment's fault. Sleeping with windows closed or earplugs is an easy solution. A coffee shop also serving light breakfast items is literally twenty steps out the front door and many other places to eat are within easy walking distance. I would stay here again in a heartbeat if my path takes me to Munich again; this hotel is an absolute gem for anyone seeking comfort, cleanliness, and economy. Highly recommend!
- Morgan (10/5): - The property was a very short walk to the train station which was so convenient and not too far to get to a lot of main attractions in Munich! The staff was amazing and when we checked in the person at the desk gave us so many wonderful suggestions of things to do in and around Munich! The building is older but the room was nice and clean and perfect for two people! We would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting Munich!
- Gary (10/5): Creatif Hotel Elephant Munich. - Fantastic hotel in Munich city centre.
Ideal location next to the Hauptbahnof main railway station.
Great value, very friendly staff and lovely breakfast.
Would highly recommend !
- Steven (10/5): Fabulous and Comfortable Budget Hotel - Excellent budget hotel located by the Central Station with easy access to anywhere in Munich. Clean, comfortable, excellent staff. No frills but everything you could need and great value for the money. I’ve stayed here every year since pre-Covid and plan to stay many times again. And there’s a (relatively) new coffee shop under the hotel now that’s also highly recommended.
- lachkeira (8/5): Budget but decent enough - There’s no doubt this is a basic hotel, no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, small rooms, some seem to have a fridge, others don’t. The TVs am have different channels which I found curious.
Having said that, it’s in a great location for the train station and trams. Karl Platz and Marienplatz are within a reasonable walk, if not using public transport.
We were here for the extreme snow fall and the rooms were lovely and warm, the beds comfortable, the shower hot with great pressure.
Breakfast is standard continental and ok.
If checking in after 10pm, then check in is at a nearby hotel but it’s not far away at all.
- Vanessa (10/5): - Was here for Oktoberfest and it was very fitting for two nights. Walkable to everything we needed and right by the train to return to the airport. Basic accommodations at an affordable price
- christopher (8/5): - great but no AC . staff very friendly
- Dennis (2/5): No hot water in shower and no A/C. - Hotel room has no ventilation or A/C. As there was 29 C in Munchen, the room became very hot and uncomfortable. The hotel provided a very noisy fan, but that only circulated the hot air in the room.
The shower had no hot water. They sent the cleaning lady to fix it, which she obviously couldn't. We were offered complimentary breakfast for one of our 2 night stay, only to find mold in the yogurt.
Avoid this hotel.
- Occasional-Jetsetter (8/5): Great Budget Hotel near the Centre - An un-planned two-night stay here, necessitated by the temporary failure of Lufthansa, was a pleasant experience as the hotel offered a large and comfortable room with great heating and good (if older) ensuite amenities. It doesn't look like 'posh' hotel, but it was comfortable and the location is great for the Hbf rail station -and for one of the nightlife areas. It isn't a long walk from the old town either. The staff were friendly and helpful and the price was reasonable.
- Joel (8/5): - The breakfast provided at extra cost was quite good. Very close to Central Station
- Beatso (6/5): Average hotel , good location. - Stayed with family for a 1 night stop over.
The price and location seemed good and was, with a short walk from the main station.
The room was very cramped and not the cleanest I’ve stayed in.
As a result would probably stay somewhere else next time.
- piya (8/5): - Good location,and friendly staff
- Gaja (8/5): - Staff was nice, rooms were clean, only thing we had a problem with was the strange water pressure/shower head and the tv. It only had a few channels and all were in German. We understand they translate everything but we would have liked to watch at least one show before bed and understand something. Internet worked great, and the hotel is super conveniently located.
- Garry (8/5): - Basic amenities but location is good for many things
- Gia Minh Chau Angelique (6/5): - Pros: Right next to the train station, great location for walking about the city centre.
Cons: Toilet kept running all night, shower was a bit weak.
Overall. A basic hotel, ok for the price, but great location
- tohearne (10/5): Lovely hotel in the heart of Munich - We stayed for one night at the end of July. Really easy to find from the central station with easy access to the city and the room sizes were good too. Accommodation is basic but excellent value for money. I would highly recommend.
- Andrew (8/5): A good, but basic hotel, close to main station - If you are looking for cheap basic hotel in a central location, then this may well suit you. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The showers are temperamental and work ok if you are the only person in the hotel using them - otherwise they can be quite cold. Bed linen and towels are clean, but tiny, worn and tatty. The hotel is not manned from around 9:30pm to 6:00am - don't arrive in the night as you won't get in! On the good points, there is a small lift to all floors. Breakfast is available daily, but you may have to pay extra for it. A small selection of hot drinks is available for free whilst the hotel is manned (there are no hot-drink making facilities in the rooms). The TV works most of the time, with 3 English-speaking channels. The hotel is situated very close to the main station and the S-Bahn. Paintwork is bright and cheery, but let down by the well-worn carpets in the communal areas. If the owners were to spend a little bit of money refreshing the carpets and decoration, buying new bed linen & towels and fixing the hot water supply, I would rate it much higher.
- Steven (8/5): Excellent Value - Very solid basic hotel close to the Central Station. Good shower, good heating, safe for valuables. Excellent value for the money.
- Chris (6/5): Great hotel, dingy location - The hotel reception was friendly and helpful, and the room itself was great. The negative aspect to the hotel is its location, very convenient for the train station but rather dingy, with the entrance between two rows of refuse bins which appear to be a permanent fixture on the sidewalk.
- Asen (10/5): - Convenient location in the city
- Verified traveler (6/5): - They startet working with some maschines at my room door at 9 am, soo stupid
- Hans-Peter (8/5): Good enough if you need a central affordable place - small room but enough space to work on a laptop, Nice that the bed is a bit wider than twin
- Mohammed (6/5): Basic central hotel - Budget & simple hotel close to central station, close to many shop and restaurants .
Basic sevices but good price for staying in central.
- BohMart (4/5): Bad place - Don’t come here. Its looks dangerous. Like in thats films about drugdillers. Why this place has 7.5 to n Booking??? If you would like stay here, u would need to go on another hotel for key! To ANOTHER HOTEL KARL! Terrible...
- Alan (10/5): A good stay again. - Our home from home good honest simple hospitality.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient location. Feel safe to walk at night.
- Philip (10/5): Convenient to Main Station. - I have stayed in this Hotel before, and booked it again because it is so convenient to the Hauptbahnhof, it is only a 4 or 5 minute walk from the side entrance of the Station, the rooms are very clean, the friendly staff speak excellent english, I will stay here again in the future.
Philip
- eastperthchiro (10/5): Location! SERVICE! and value! - Very happy with our stay. a couple on a honeymoon across xmas/new year. The helpful and professional staff was the highlight of our stay. Room are spacious, clean and what you would exspect for any 3-4 star hotel. Location is absolutely amazing, we couldnt believe everytime we googled a resteruant, bar, oval, train, it was all withing 5-10min walking from the hotel. plus we walked across the road for 2min from the main munich train HBF station. the best location ever.
5 STAR HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Very good value too
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location was excellent from train station. Walking distance to most places we went to was excellent.
- Jorge (10/5): - Location. Near to HBF Munich. Location feel save. Near to convenience stores and restaurant. Walking distance to some main attractions
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We were lucky enough to be offered an early check in. Hotel is very easy to find and well located. Staff very friendly and breakfast was fine. Free coffee all day. Safe area
- Nicholas (10/5): - This is my second stay here and each stay has been wonderful. Great staff, lovely rooms and close to everything. Will definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent location near central station and centre of city.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, close to the Munich main station and many other attractions.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was a good size. A bit noisy but not too bad. The breakfast was quite good.
The bed was very soft and for us uncomfortable. The shower curtain kept sticking to your body while showering and toilet was slow to flush.
All around pretty good for the price and location.
- jeffrey (8/5): - Clean hotel next to main train station. Could use a bit of maintenance but overall a decent place
- KarenAaran (8/5): Good stay - Just returned from Munich. This hotel was conveniently placed for bus and train station. Also walking distance to centre. Room comfortable and clean. Good shower. Only issue was a little noisy from street outside at times. Lady on reception very helpful (cute chihuahua with her). Would recommend this hotel though did not find Munich to our taste so went on a couple of day trips to Salzburg and Innsbruck as coaches were easy to book and station is close by.
Use the Lufthansa express to get to airport as only €11 each - taxi will cost €70!! The bus stop for this is very close to hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, helpful staff. Room comfortable with a great shower. Only downside was a bit of street noise.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Toilet wouldn’t flush, no hot shower, grotty hotel, don’t bother
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, so close to the train station as well as many beautiful spots.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Overall disappointed - Staff were friendly and helpful on check-in/check-out. However, disappointed with room overall. Had booked three rooms, for three nights. Unfortunately the hotel had no hot water for those three nights! Two of the rooms had mini-bars whilst mine had space for a mini-bar but it was absent. Also my safe did not work. Rooms are small overall, but adequate.. My room was a little worn. WiFi slow.
- arupmukherjee111 (8/5): Very good stay in an excellent location - Pros-
1. Location unbeatable. Walking distance to the railway station. Short walk to hop on hop off pick up point. Numerous eateries and shops near by
2. Quite safe
3. Very warm welcome. The gentleman at the reception was Fabolous and has a great sense of humor
4. Room and bathroom clean
5. Check in and check out smooth
6. Value for money
Cons- Couldn't find any
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location for the railway station was perfect. Though no drink making facilities in the room you can help yourself to coffee and tea in the dining room.
- Yuri (10/5): - Exellent location, everything close by, especially train station. Walking distance to the central square and museums.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The Good: very conveniently located 1 block away from the main train and bus stations. They allowed me to check in several hours prior to official check-in time.
The Bad: toilet seat and bowl were stained and should be replaced for aesthetic reasons. Same with the window curtains. Telephone headset was broken and taped together (they replaced it during my stay). The toilet did bit flush paper and took multiple flushes to clear waste. The wood floors were so filthy that after showering and walking across the floor the bottom of my feet quickly became dirty. Someone (presumably housekeeping) entered my room while I was there and without knocking. The safe did not consistent work and displayed a need for batteries. The TV remote erratically worked and channels came in and out.
The Ugly: though two of the desk staff were friendly and helpful, the third was perhaps the rudest and worst hospitality staffer I have ever met. He was argumentative, condescending, and dismissive. He should not be in customer service. Period.
- Brian (8/5): - Great location from train station , easy access anywhere !
Stayed here before .enjoyed the same
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Location - A nice and quiet hotel, is only 4 minutes walking from the Munich Hbf.
- Jaelen (8/5): Good - It was good. Its a cheap hotel and you get what you pay for. Don’t come here with high expectations. This is not a luxury hotel, but it offers a clean warm place to sleep and its in a great location next to the train station. If you aren’t fussy about luxury, this hotel is a great price in a great location in Munich. I’d stay here again.
- Alan (8/5): High satisfaction - Another of our annual visits a true expression of how much this venue pleases us, we keep coming back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location next to central train station. Good restaurants close to hotel. Nice staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff. They swapped our room for a new one because the blinds weren't working.
- Chyda (8/5): Great value for the money. - I only stayed for one night, but I was satisfued with my stay. The check in was quick. The place and room was neat and clean. And although the room was not spaceous, it was just enough for me. The room was quiet as well as the neighborhood. The location was great as it was very close to the central station and there were nearby restuarants. I wouldn't have minded staying for a few more nights in the hotel as it was much better than the other hotels I have stayed at during my trip.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This hotel is basic, clean and the location can’t be beat. It functioned exactly as I anticipated based on previous reviews and I recommend it for anyone on a budget but still wants to be well located.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - The room is small but clean. It could get noisy as it is by the road.
- Michael (8/5): Decent value option in central Munich - Basic hotel right next to the central train station and most of central Munich within walking distance. A bit dated inside and could've done with electrical sockets nearer the bed. A decent budget option
- J E (8/5): - Standard basic clean accomodation
- satoshi (4/5): Closed to Munich station, not located at main st. - Hotel is closed to Munich central station, about 5 minutes walk, however not located at Main Street.
The room is a bit old and no air-conditioning, need to open window. However as it is closed to the street, it is a bit noisy can can’t even at mid night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location. Helpful staff.
- Gary (8/5): - Solid European hotel. Nothing fancy.
- cathrin (6/5): ok - it is ok very central but good for one or two nights
- Aurora (10/5): a hub - Good access to city centre and most places of interest, Marienplatz, hop on hop off bus, bus and train station. Not a plush section of Munich, but good enough to access areas that interest tourist. Price is also not too bad if you are on a shoestring budget. Variety of good food at the train station.
