Guest Reviews
- Aimee (6/5): - The good-
The location of this hotel was great, a short walk to the Acropolis, shopping, and Syntagma square. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was clean, shower had a good amount of pressure.
The bad-
Room 103 faces the street and a noisy cafe, one night the noise didn’t stop until after 1 am. Beds were uncomfortable. No USB charging ports in the room.
The ugly-
I hate to make accusations but I’m pretty sure $80 was stolen out of one of our bags here when we dropped them off. Our room wasn’t ready yet so they put them in a common room until it was (this room was not secured). Just be careful when storing bags. Elevator is tiny, just be forewarned if you are claustrophobic.
- Anita (10/5): - I loved this hotel, especially the location. It was close to the Piazzale Roma which is the drop off for the bus from the airport and close to the people mover if taking that to a cruise. It was also not a bad walk to St Mark's Basilica. I actually preferred being outside the crowds. The hotel staff was amazing and very helpful. I highly recommend this hotel if in Venice!
- Antoine (10/5): - Great location, great view of the Acropolis from the rooftop. There's a delicious bakery on the corner.
- barbara (8/5): - The staff were amazing. Only thing negative was it was a bit small and the marble tiles were a death trap when wet from shower.
- Emily (10/5): - We loved our stay here! The hotel has a beautiful Greek charm with a modern twist, making it feel authentic yet stylish. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful – nothing was ever too much trouble. The location is very convenient, with attractions, restaurants, and public transport all close by. We would definitely stay here again!
- Sandra (8/5): - The location was excellent, in the Plaka area. Very safe to walk in the area. Good air conditioning, comfortably beds, rooms are kind of small. Got a room with two twin beds. Shower was small too. The people in the reception area were nice and helpful. Didn’t like the fact that you have to leave the key of your room every time you leave the hotel. The view of the Acropolis at the roof top was gorgeous.
- Crystal (10/5): - Great property!! Gave me a nice, spacious, room with a balcony facing the acropolis. Also had the room ready for me even though I arrived a little earlier than standard check-in times.
- AMY (10/5): - Clean room. Very kind and helpful staff. In a good location, churches and Plaka are in walking distance. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby.
- Angelo (10/5): - Fantastic hotel, clean room and great staff.
Great location close to all main attractions in Athens and plenty of restaurants nearby. Highly recommended
- Elaine (10/5): - Very nice staff, wonderful location, very clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Couple's stay in Plaka - This hotel generally had all the necessities we required, with reasonably friendly reception staff, but it was not spectacular.
They were not able to accommodate our double-bed request, instead ending up with two single beds, despite booking well in advance.
We did not try the breakfast option, instead using the artisinal bakery down the road which was very yum.
The hotel's system of handing your room key to the reception when you leave the building, so it can't get lost outside, worked well with the 24h reception.
The hotel's location is superb, right in the heart of Plaka, with everything in walking distance.
- Michael (6/5): - The property is dated and the elevator is super small, can barely fit 2 people.
- Debebe (10/5): - Employee are very friendly clean good location the only things need to change used towel , I am using the same towel every day for three days
- Dilli Raj (10/5): - Eva were fantastic and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good location, cute room - Good location. Staff speak english. Small room but has everything we needed. Quite clean.
- karen (8/5): - I would happily stay in this little hotel again, but I can’t give it 5 stars because our balcony was really quite small and right next to a building under construction. However, we could see the Acropolis nicely if we angled the chairs away from the construction.
The breakfast buffet was small but very convenient.
The hotel is in a great location for shopping and restaurants.
The staff were very nice.
- Simon (10/5): - Good value breakfast. Great location and very friendly staff. Stayed here for 2 nights before cruise. Hotel reception organised driver to cruise terminal for fixed price of 25 EUR.
- Mary (10/5): - The hotel was clean with an ideal location and friendly staff. The hotel offers a patio on the upper level where you have an amazing view of the Acropolis at night.
The room we had was very small, hard for two people to move around. I am sure they offer different size rooms if you would like more space. Something to be aware of when booking.
We would definitely stay again but in a different room.
- Richard (10/5): - See room is nice and clean. The breakfast is a good value. Staff is super friendly or the keys are a bit quirky though. Nothing to worry about.
- Changmin (8/5): - The staffs are so kind and friendly. One thing that you know is the room size is not correct. Hotels.com tells the room size for the double bed room is 194sqft, but it is not. There is not enough space to open 2x large size carrier.
- Ann (8/5): - Our bus from cruise terminal dropped us off a few minutes walking distance from the hotel. Convenient to everything and the rooftop view was amazing. They also were able to arrange taxi for us for 4 am as our flight was at 8 am. Check in was easy and the elevator was super cute and tiny ! Loved it and would def stay again. If you want European charm and excellent view w good value, you’ll be satisfied. Also to note….. the room is tiny and bathroom small.
- Daniel (10/5): - The location is perfect .
- Robert (8/5): - overall the room was good value for the price my only issue is the bathroom floors and shower floor, extremely slick when wet marble tile, the shower was a challenge to stand in when using. When I asked about a mat for the shower there was not any available.
- Michelle (8/5): - Pretty basic and clean hotel in an extremely convenient location. Staff was very nice. Unsure of how busy the hotel was but didn’t seem like the restaurant wa so pen during the day.
- kevin (6/5): - Noisy small bathrooms
- Steven (8/5): - This little simple hotel is right in the heart of where you want to stay. Best thing about it is the location! Just off a side street making it extremely quiet! You won't hear any noise at night, yet you are two minutes from a main street in the Plaka.
Don't expect big rooms, fancy lobby, or luxuries. But you will get a very clean hotel with excellent staff.
- Steven (8/5): - Most wonderful staff! Helpful, friendly, very welcoming!! The location is on a VERY quiet side street in the middle of the action. Super clean hotel and rooms!!!
- Maria (8/5): - The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and that was what was most important to us.
The area around the property was not very attractive but we were glad it was within walking distance to restaurants and the shopping center.
- Sandy Yin Wah (8/5): Great location and clean - I stayed at Athos for five nights. It is a clean, comfortable hotel, and people are friendly and helpful. I got an upgrade to live on the rooftop level with a nice view of the Acropolis. We are good since we plan to hop to different islands and did not pack a lot of luggage, but if you have a big size/lots of luggage, please ensure you check if the room size is right for you, or use the storage option available from the hotel. I feel safe even walking back to the hotel late at night. It is also in a very great location and close to everything.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Arrived late - hotel is in a small side road so we were concerned where we had booked. We needn't have been concerned. Hotel is small and we had booked a standard room - 104. Had the smallest bathroom - only 1 person in at a time as no room. Bed was hard. We overlooked the front of the hotel which was a tad noisy at night but not so bad as to disturb all night. Didn't have breakfast there. Staff were very friendly. Excellent location for Plaka - 5 minute walk. Down the other way was the main modern shopping and eating area. Very safe. In spite of the bed we had a great stay
- M Umaima (6/5): - Just okay. Yes, it’s a convenient location but there are plenty of hotels in the area with the similar price. The wifi didn’t work most of the times. Rooms need to be updated. We got a room with “acropolis view”. The staff was friendly.
- Ashley (10/5): - Great stay!
- Carolina (10/5): Best location and super friendly Staff - I recommend Athos 100%! My experience was just great!
The staff is very kind and helpful since the beginning ( before booking) they were answering very fast all my questions!
The hotel is not fancy but it is clean and I felt secure!
The room was small( everything is small in Athens)
The bed was ok (I always carry my pillow) so I had no problem!
The location is just in the heart of Athens, you can walk anywhere and if you have tours to do the meeting point will be less than 5’, less than 5’ to transportation.
Thank you again to everyone! Efharisto.
- Christian (10/5): - Excellent service, very clean. Just a little bit tight if you get the basic room, but otherwise a nice clean safe and convenient place to stay. 5 min walk from Syntagma metro. Highly recommended. Superb dining and shopping options all within a short walk. Excellent starting point for Athens. Yasas!
- Tulsi (6/5): - The hotel was great and in a great location. However, the beds were HARD and the walls were not noise proof at alll. We were woken up at 3am to a family leaving or coming back or something cause you can hear everything no matter how quite.
- Susan (10/5): - Well located. Friendly. Ultra clean. Perfect.
- Kimberly (10/5): - The rooftop view was wonderful, especially at night!!
- Julie (10/5): - Great location for seeing attractions, dining and shopping. Good view of acropolis from rooftop patio.
- Neal (10/5): - Awesome service and great location. I would highly recommend staying here. Great value for anyone wanting to visit all parts of Athens.
- Laura (6/5): - Only stayed one night at this hotel on level 3. Convenient location and fine for what we needed. Clean and reasonably quiet.
No amenities in bathroom.
Wifi signal extremely poor.
Bed and pillows very firm, but slept ok.
Television has one English channel for those who want to watch. Very bad picture on all channels and signal drops in and out while watching.
Overall, a decent hotel for a night.
- lesley (10/5): - Very friendly staff, amazing marble bathrooms and stunning view of the Acropolis from our balcony
- Allyson (10/5): - The Athos staff were friendly and welcoming. The location was perfect for seeing the main sights.
- Gladys (10/5): - The property was a small family owned hotel. The hotel was well cared for and the staff we met were more than helpful and met all of our requests.
- Gary (10/5): Athens hotel - 2nd time staying at Hotel Athos on this trip
Solid hotel, friendly staff, easy check in, rooftop deck amazing for views of the Acropolis
Rooms are basic, close to the Plaka, shopping, dining, transportation
- Gary (10/5): Athens - Centrally located, close enough to the train, easy check in (early check in), friendly and helpful staff, room was fabulous, literally opened the window and there was the acropolis. Nice open deck to view the acropolis at night. Very close to the square, shopping, restaurants and bars. Stayed 2 nights on the front end and will be returning for 2 nights on the back end. Excellent experience.
- Tadevos (10/5): - Evriting okay
- David (6/5): - This is an older property on a not so attractive street.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was great. The view of the Acropolis from our room and the roof was incredible.
- Kjetil (8/5): Trip to see Athen - Nice hotel with sunny terrace :-) only negative is hard bed mattresses, very good location if you want to see Plaka, Acropolis etc.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Hoel Athos is in an excellent location in Athens. The property is only a 5 minute walk from Syntagma Square and a 10 minute walk into the heart of the Plaka. There are many restaurants and cafes as well as the main shopping street, Ermou Street, within a 5 to 10 minute walk away.
- Christine (6/5): - The rooms were very small. The shower was so tiny. The view from upstairs was unbelievable. The acropolis all lit up at night. Location was fantastic. Overall it served its purpose.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location for walking in the Plaka and access to the Acropolis. Staff was very helpful with airport transportation and directions. Rooms are small but adequate.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location - central but still quiet and enjoyed the roof top views!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Situated close to shops and restaurants and close to the train station. Central to a lot of the attractions. Room was small but reasonable value for money. Staff helpful and friendly.
- Tony (8/5): Central location. Close to train station - Location was good, not dodgy like I read from other reviews, 24hour reception, it did have views of the Acropolis but not that great from the room. Was good from the roof. Double bed was just 2 singles pushed together, not that comfortable for a couple. Super tiny elevator for two. Good greek restaurant opposite this hotel.
- MIRIAM (10/5): Excellent - Hotel is very central yet in a quite road which we enjoyed.
Very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
- Tien (8/5): - Good location! Staff was also super sweet and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It’s close to everything. The coffee was good. The beds were very hard. Bring your own iron, you need to go to the basement to iron your clothes.
- Gail (10/5): Athens with a smile - Great service with a smile. Our plane was delayed and after a whole day of travel they made arrangements to have car service pick us up at 3AM. The location is fantastic and they helped tremendously every day with how to navigate our stay. A small hotel and small room but perfect...Everything that you need for a city stay.
- tasha (8/5): decent hotel - Pro: great location, decent staff, average size room-comparable to local hotel rooms.
Con: you have to go down to the basement to iron your clothes. a little strange, but not a big deal.
- Bill (10/5): - Great staff and great location. Enjoyed stay very much. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location, clean room. However, I had to give my credit card to pay $60USD at the end of the trip when I already booked via Orbitz and paid before arriving at the property. I don't know why i had to double pay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Other than fine location it was a bit dreary. Beds were uncomfortable. Curtains were dirty. Room smelled a little.
Room safe was broken. I asked repeatedly for it to be fixed but all I got was excuses and smiles. I had to carry around all valuables all day long. Very uncomfortable. The staff made no effort to comply
And they constantly pushed their breakfast on us at an extra cost. .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Friendly staff. Average facility. Convenient location.
- Debra (8/5): Great location - Stayed here for 3 nights - convenient location, clean compact rooms. Easy to walk to Acropolis, Hadrian’s arch, the Plaka and syntagma Square. Breakfast was so so. Staff friendly and helpful.
- Sarah (6/5): - great view from the roof deck. Room was miserably small for two travelers with only small carry-on luggage. Very nice staff! No in-room coffee and they charge 3 Euros for a small cup.
- JAMES (8/5): - Small rooms, friendly staff, good location.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Staff provided coffee at no expense when we had to get up early for a flight! They were also gracious and helpful when we messed up our room-safe password.
- daz (6/5): - Convenient to all amenities. No smoke detector and sprinklers in room.Bath room recently refurbished.
- Kelley (10/5): - Great affordable place to stay. Very small rooms but you're never in them so it really wasn't an issue. Great little family cafe right across the street.
- Ann (8/5): Just OK. - It is a basic hotel, little charm, small room but adequate.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cozy room with excellent views - Expected more from this Hotel, however taking into consideration Hotels with the same price class I would recommend Athos. The hotel as excellent views of the Acropolis however that's where it ends.
- kristine (10/5): - Modern and great location. Very accomodating and friendly staff. The room is clean.
- John (6/5): Nice Hotel near nice to visit areas - Price paid could have been significantly lower
Perfect location providing easy access to interesting places, shops, places with nice eats and live music
- gloria (10/5): Charming hotel central location - The hotel is on a side street close to many attractions. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating.
- Lindsay (10/5): - Location was fabulous! Restaurant across the street made it the perfect place to stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good deal, good location - Super location beautiful hotel and the staff were EXCELLENT - friendly, knowledgeable, and very kind.
- Alexia & Julien (4/5): - We stayed in Athos Hotel for two nights at the end of our trip to Greece in July. The staff at Hotel Athos are very nice. However, besides the staff, we were rather disappointed ; elevator to carry up luggage is rather small, the bed in the room is quite hard and not comfortable at all, the pillows were not comfortable, the wood trim/base boards in our room were falling off, the fridge did not have any drinks (except water) and the 'view' from our room was absolutely horrendous.
During our stay in Greece, we stayed in 3 hotels ; two of which were fantastic and that we would return to in a heartbeat and Hotel Athos which was upsetting (especially after having stayed in the other 2 hotels). We would not recommend Hotel Athos.
- Penelope (10/5): - Very nice. We stay there every year. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx cxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. X
- Meredith (8/5): Convenient hotel in a great location - We stayed for 3 nights at Athos Hotel. We enjoyed its close proximity to nearby restaurants and easily walked to the Acropolis and other sight seeing locations. The hotel has beautifully updated bathrooms, but the beds are a bit uncomfortable. Our room was also very small - we barely had space to walk around our bed. Overall though it was a good experience.
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect in every way! - Fantastic location, room is well sized for Europe with a new bathroom and huge balcony! Staff are very friendly and so helpful and the view from the rooftop is just stunning! 10/10
- Michael (6/5): Central hotel - The hotel is realy in the center. Well connections just by walking. The room was nice, but there was no good view at all. The room was no very clean. I found some hairs and dirt. The bed was dirty with some blond long hair, from the girl before me. The breakfast was ok, but don't expect sth. Special. Thr girls at the reception were very polite and helpfull.
The hotel is not worth its price.
- Vanessa (8/5): Comfortable and cosy but very noisy - Really comfy pillows and bed, great shower and nice receptionist. Food at the restaurant opposite the hotel was great with a lovely owner. However, there isn't much space and it's very noisy. I had the room facing the road and I couldn't sleep till 1am because I could hear every word from people at the little restaurant on the opposite side. At 8/9am construction starts outside. Impossible to catch a proper rest :(
- A (10/5): Perfect Stay - Perfect hotel for the price and location. We will definitely stay here again.
- Nick (8/5): Great location. Better terrace. - We only spent 36 hours in Athens so this was great for us: close to the Acropolis, walking distance to museum, in very touristy Plaka but walking distance from more interesting Psiri.
The terrace view is amazing.
Only real complaint: breakfast wasn't great and wasn't included in price.
- ashwin (6/5): Not worth the cost. Unimpressed - Small rooms and expensive hotel. Not worth the $
- Verified traveler (4/5): Convenient locatiom - Room smelled , hallway no lights , cancellation policy not good, tried cancelling Sunday for the following Friday's reservation lost the whole payment for
Fri leniency , would not recommend
- Zachary (8/5): - Excellent service. They do over and beyond the call of the duty
- Mariana (10/5): Very good value for money - Very good value for money and my room had a great view to the Acropole.
- Richard (10/5): Mini Get away - My wife and i were on a mini get away. Enjoyed the hotel because it was close to everything we did. The Acropolis, Flea Market, Night Life, Tours. Would stay there again.
- Brian (8/5): Excellent no frills, in a great location! - Hotel personnel was perfect in every way!
It is a no frills hotel. Rooms are small, but comfortable, and complete with TV and refrigerator. Small shower, and very small balcony. Great view from the rooftop of the Acropolis. Breakfast is decent, and quite a variety of choices. I didnt see a bar or a restaurant, but there are so many to choose from within a 5 minute walk that I liked that better, and there is a good little place directly across the street from the hotel! I would stay here again, and I would highly recommend it for people who dont worry about all the bars and restaurants in the place.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Alright if you're into that sort of thing. - Two single beds pushed together in my option, isn't a double bed.. It's still two singles.
- David (10/5): GREAT LITTLE HOTEL - WE STAYED THE EASTER WEEKEND IN THE GREEK ORTHODOX CALENDAR
- Tengku (8/5): OK hotel, great location - This hotel is located in a slightly quiet area just two blocks from the main Syntagma shopping area. It has a great view at the rooftop although the Acropolis may be blocked a bit by nearby building. Room is a bit on the small side and breakfast is poor for EUR6. Walking distance to most of Athens attractions such as the Plaka district and the Acropolis.
- Rich & Hala (4/5): Old small hotel. - Hotel is old and small with very small rooms and no frills. I didn't realize it was only a 2 star hotel. We booked for two weeks but checked out after one week.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and comfortable hotel,with a kind staff,in a perfect location.
- Michail (10/5): I'll revisit for sure - We stayed there two nights and everything was great...The stuff was very friendly and the hotel was extremely clean....the rooftop view was amazing better than the pictures you feel that acropoli is right there...
- Gene (8/5): Athos Review - Room was tight but adequate and furnished nicely for the reasonable cost of the room with a view of the Acropolis. The wifi was spotty but you could use a different wifi setup from the lobby. The breakfast was very good and you had plenty to eat. The location was ideal for any/all sightseeing. All the service personnel were very polite, spoke and understood English, and helpful. We would stay here again.
- June (8/5): Location Location - The hotel is very ordinary but its central location was perfect for my short trip to Athens. The staff at reception were very nice.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Would not stay here again, a waste of my money - I would not recommend or stay at this hotel again. It was totally outdated and the rooms were tiny. My first impression made everything...Walking out of the elevator to get to our room and the hall way is dark with no lights on. I had to turn the light switch on to see where we were going. Not a very warm welcome, and kind of scary if you ask me. Room was tiny as well. I did not like the fact that we had to leave our key at the front desk everytime we left the hotel, and then someone would go in our room to clean up without asking us for approval. Breakfast has a charge, and I would say don't waste your money on it either. Its over priced just for some corn flakes and coffee.
