In spite of it being a lower ground floor room, it was pleasant and well lit. The staff were friendly and helpful (it was during the Tube strike!) but we managed to find our way around. The Continental breakfast was substantial and very good value and the hotel was a short walk from Paddington station. Would recommend.

We found it very walkable to many places including, Hyde Park, Soho, Notting Hill, Museums and Harrods. It was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. No frills room - no fridge or recliners. 5 minute walk to Paddington station. Lots of eating options nearby. Staff are very pleasant and friendly. Continental breakfast hits the spot, servers bring toast to your table or hot porridge along with small buffet of other selections, including raisin rolls, croissants, yogurt, cereal, dried fruits, sliced cheese, cold ham and salami. Drinks include apple and orange juice, coffee and hot water for tea. Would stay again if going with family to London.

There is also no fridge in the room which makes it difficult when you are travelling with medications that require it. Overall the staff were nice except for one woman who was very rude when I asked for help with retrieving medications I had stored in the staff fridge. Overall for the money I would go elsewhere if travelling with a family

La limpieza es su mayor atributo. Las habitaciones están bien pero es muy complicado llegar a ellas, bajando escaleras y teniendo que pasar por varias puertas y en nuestro caso teniendo que atravesar el desayunador. En el caso nuestro la habitación 54 se encontraba debajo de la recepción y se escuchaban ruidos en el techo todo el tiempo ( tratar de evitarla). Hay desayuno muy completo pagando un adicional. La habitación posee caja de seguridad. Por el precio abonado hubiera esperado un frigobar. En síntesis, el hotel está bien, pero con algunos detalles seria óptimo.

- Karen (10/5): - The Athena provided the exact experience we sought for a short stay in London. Our teenagers had never been to London, and we had an extended layover from another trip, so we booked close to Paddington Station to get to and from the airport quickly. The strip of beautiful old homes weaved together on a square made for a fantastic setting. It is located off of a main road with plenty of restaurants to choose from and easy access to public transport. The hotel staff were so pleasant and helpful, and the check in went smoothly and quickly. We loved the authenticity of the building with small, steep, creaky stairs; a quaint, surprisingly roomy room with a double; located on the third floor with a pleasant breeze coming through the windows and a tabletop fan to keep cool in the summer. The bathroom updates were nice and the hotel overall added to our inner London experience, with character and charm. The continental breakfast is a nice way to end the stay, along with the option to hold bags. We may have found the quarters tight if we intended to spend any time other than sleeping and freshening up, but we went to explore London, not stay in the room, and we sought and appreciated the character of the property.
- Benjamin (2/5): - Athena Hotel advertised wifi, no wifi for entire stay. Requested proportional refund for lack of wifi. Air conditioning also broken. Small room. Would not stay here again in the future
- Amanda (10/5): - My 16 year old son & I stayed for three nights & we’re very happy with our choice. This small hotel is in a very nice area close to Paddington tube & rail services, and Hyde Park. Our room was small but very clean with a nice bathroom (good shower). Beds were comfortable with cosy duvets. With a fan going (found in cupboard), the room was a good temperature even during a heart wave. We would stay again.

- Kevin (6/5): Wish I would have looked more for other options - An independent hotel in a row of hotels near Paddington Station. I chose this place, despite its price, because we needed easy access to the train station and they had a "family" room. What I did not anticipate was another sweaty couple of nights with nothing but an open window and a fan. It met our needs, but I do not know that I would stay there again.
- Mathew (10/5): - It was a clean but small room. We were a family of four and it was on the smaller side but typical for a room in London. Very convenient to transport as Paddington Station is a 5 minute walk away.

- Maura (8/5): .Make sure you have AC working - We stayed here because they had AC, not believing that we would need it. Everything was as expected except on arrival we had outlets that didn’t work until assistance came from the desk clerk. Our first night she said she turned the AC on. Second night we had no one at desk to assist and on the third a young man said, oh that room has no AC and went to get us a fan. Room was as we expected, but the comfort we wanted with AC was a big discomfort after long days in the sun.
- Jeanine (10/5): - We were greeted by Mel and Eva as we entered the hotel and they gave the best first impression ever! They were so helpful and we were able to check in early which was so nice, although they would have accommodated storing our luggage otherwise. The location was perfect with short walks to Paddington Station, restaurants, bus routs and hop on hop off bus pickup location. The hotel was spotless and there was always someone at the front desk. Would highly recommend.
- Masato (6/5): - Convenient place. Quiet even though it is very close to Paddington station. No air conditioning. Desk is small which is inconvenient for business trip. Cost is relatively higher than others in that area. Not sure if it worth.

- BONNIE (10/5): - Great location! Close to bus lines, shopping, restaurants. Also a two block walk to Paddington Station to get off/on the train to the airport! We loved this place and will definitely stay again and tell our friends and family! It’s very clean and in a safe area. The continental breakfast was just enough to get us started. It’s not fancy, but was everything we needed. Staff were friendly and accommodating! Thanks for a great stay; wish we could have stayed longer!

- Janae (6/5): Very Very Small - The room was so small - we were a family of 5 staying in a family room but the room was so small that you had to stay sitting on the beds so that one person could get to the bathroom. There was no space for our bags even though we only had a carry on and personal bag each. We are all thin so it had nothing to do with our size. The room was uncomfortable at best. The room was very clean.

- Michael (8/5): London Stay - This is a 3 star hotel and at this rating, the hotel is value for money. It's in a great location and it has the reception desk manned 24/7 together with which, they will store your luggage before and after check in/out.

- Keith (8/5): - Stayed at the Athena many times during visits to London. Its in a great location and we always enjoy our stay. My only criticism is that they have now stopped serving full English breakfast and only offer continental for an additional charge.
- Fang (8/5): - Convenient to anywhere. Clean and staff friendly offering check out baggage storage with no charge. A little pity is that Five nights stay but the room floor was not cleaned thoroughly in the small size of the room. A soap is only given one for long stay. Overall I would recommend this hotel.
- karin (4/5): - The staff were present and available. I was very grateful for the location, both in nearness to Paddington station and also for the lovely and generally quiet tree-lined lane that runs parallel to the larger road. Our room was supported well by air conditioning, which we selected specifically for that reason after flying in from Portugal and as London was having quite warm temps, however, because it is below the main office (I believe) there was thumping noises on the ceiling ALL NIGHT literally. This made for a lack of much needed sleep before our trans-Atlantic flight.
- Sheldon Shivan (6/5): - The staff is incredibly nice and very easy to work with if you have any problems, the size of the room and bathroom are quite small for the price per night and having the power cut out on my final night wasn't ideal, but otherwise it was a great stay!
- Julie (6/5): - Very small room. Comfy soft bed and blanket. Yellow stained bath towels (big turn off). Good for one night in Paddington. Very convenient for walking or train access.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel with a good value for money, breakfast cheap - The value for money for a hotel of this standard in London was quite good, with very welcoming and accommodating staff. The only improving point is the quality of the breakfast (no scrambled eggs, low-quality industrial products, ...). It would be better to offer a slightly more expensive but better-quality breakfast.

- Daniel (8/5): - Paddington is a convenient location, underground, bars and restaurants. If you are used to American hotels this will be very small. My room was about $200 per which was the original reason I choose this property. This is my second time staying here so I must think it's good.

- Kathryn (6/5): Decent hotel in a great location - Lobby is under renovation and the breakfast was more than a bit lacking, but the bed was really comfortable and the bedding was high quality. Also, this hotel is walking distance from Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. Overall a comfortable stay.
