Guest Reviews
- Ivette (10/5): - The property is cozy and elegant, with first-rate service and friendly, warm atmosphere, while providing complete privacy and freedom.
- WAYNE (10/5): - Everyone that works at this hotel was very helpful due to the Fall my wife had 2 hours after we arrived in Venice on Oct. 08, 2024. They allowed me to use their phone and computer as much as I needed. Today is Oct.17th and she is still in the hospital at this time with no release date being mentioned at this time
- Teri (10/5): Favorite EVER - This place was AMAZING! The staff, the rooms, the water taxi access! ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ By far the best & most unique place I have stayed in all of my worldly travels!
- Diane (10/5): - This is a charming "bed and breakfast" experience. The family who runs it and the other staff are beyond incredible. We felt like family while we stayed there! We were taken care of from start to finish with incredible breakfasts, cappuccinos, recommendations and even private tours. This is the only spot I will stay next time I am in Venice!
- CHARALAMPOS (8/5): Good location but overpriced - Great location, very Venetian style hotel with lovely lounge looking out to the canal. For the price, I would have expected more, toiletries in the room, better quality towels and a better customer service.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff was excellent, the bathroom was good but the room was extremely small and not very inviting.
- Anton (6/5): 4 Night Stay in Venice - Small private hotel in Venice. Double room was exceedingly small with only space for one suitcase. Air conditioning is available but controlled to a predetermined temperature that made it feel like similar to the outdoors. Tax is 3 Euro per person per night. Staff service was exemplary.
Location is pretty central.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fantastic location and very friendly staff. I had the single room which was still very spacious. Shower was a little on the weak side and yes, the breakfast is basic but does the job. I'd definitely book again and recommend.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - When we arrived at the property we were told it was closed and they had no reservation for us it was purely by chance the owner/manager was there. She did find us a room and said there would be somebody coming to give us breakfast at 8.30 the next morning, she then disappeared never to be seen again. A lady appeared at 8.30 the next morning and served us a very meagre breakfast. We were the only people in the hotel and although the room was large and clean it was very cold. I had made the reservation in July 2018 but there had been no attempt to let me know that the hotel was closed or to advise alternative accommodation.
Our experience was very disappointing the hotel was nothing like we had been expecting and there was a total lack of interest by the management.as two ladies travelling alone we had hoped to be able to ask someone in the hotel for advice on things to see travel arrangements etc but we never saw anybody apart from the lady who gave us breakfast, all very strange.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hosts Amazing location at the very heart if Venice , clean and very spacious rooms. New bathroom . We would love to go back .
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great decor, but too hot! - We really liked the way our room looked, and the lady who checked us in was very helpful, but a real problem we had was the fact that there was no air conditioning in the room. Even in mid-October this was an issue; the room was very stuffy, and the heating had been turned on when we arrived, and also on subsequent mornings. The window did not open, and there was an issue with mosquitoes in the room despite this.
- Teresa (8/5): - We had a hard time finding this place but then everyone has a hard time finding hotels in Venice, its the geography of the place. Once there it was truly an Italian experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location. - Easy to find. We'd booked B&B through Expedia but the management said we hadn't. We managed to come to an agreement on the second day. Our room was a disabled room with a wheelchair ramp for easy access, we didn't request this and it was also the smallest room in the hotel. Expedia described the room as Deluxe, it wasn't. It was expensive considering the size and quality of the room. Breakfast was coffee and bread!
- Lili (10/5): - It’s such a calm clean place, I felt like home. Also working 10 minutes walking distance from main attractions.
- Suzanne (4/5): - First room I was given, nothing worked: ac faulty, fridge not working, 1 power point for phone recharge long way from bed, no hot water. Doreena(sp?), the receptionist upgraded me at 10pm + was great but owner unwelcoming + only interested in payment(which had already been made). No tea/coffee facilities in room or common area.
- Dan (10/5): Go for it! - Super godt beliggende hotel.
- Carlos (10/5): - Fue excelente muy bien ubicada, limpia y cómoda
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved my stay! Would highly recommend for couples/families.
- Brian (6/5): - This hotel is neatly tucked away, close to St Marks square, but far from water-bus stops. Our rooms were neat and clean, decorated with antique furnishings. The room locked with a skeleton key which was quaint. They listed a check-in time of 10AM, but our rooms were not available at 11AM and we had to wait for them to be cleaned. The lady that checked us in spoke English and was helpful and friendly. The rest of the staff spoke mostly Italian, and when my 5 year old was served coffee after requesting hot chocolate, they argued with us about it. We did not receive a receipt for paying the city tax, and they tried to get us to pay it again at departure. They encouraged us to eat the included breakfast and then wouldn’t let us leave without paying for it (in cash - refusing card). I became suspicious when the woman slipped the cash directly into her purse. Venice is hot and humid during the summer and the air conditioner while technically functioning and blowing cool air did not sufficiently cool either of the rooms we reserved.
- Craig (6/5): Long walk from car park - It’s a long walk from car park we got a water taxi back that cost £70 and still had a 15/20 min walk to car
- Verified traveler (8/5): Right in the centre of Venice. Hard to find at fi - The staff were so friendly and helpful. We were only able to get WiFi in the communal areas. Overall a very positive experience.
- Matheus (10/5): Hotel Bom - Hotel com boa localização e quarto excelente.
- Karen (10/5): Warm wonderful staff in a perfect location - Wonderful hotel which previously a consulate residence. The owners and staff are warm and inviting . Don't hesitate to stay. A lovely experience
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Once you find place it's a lovely traditional residence. Very good location. Room safe very handy and fridge a bonus. Still unsure about it as only met one member of staff during 3 night stay
- Matthew (8/5): - WiFi not good enough to browse or check emails
Rooms aren’t soundproof can hear coffee machines from the entrance in the morning.
- Peter (10/5): Hidden gem! - An anonymous door down a narrow alleyway opens to lead you through a courtyard, then into the kind of entrance lobby you can only get in Venice - a pretty little set of chairs and sofas leading directly onto the canal, with water lapping just by your feet.
Up the stairs and there's a pretty dining room and lounge packed with art works, books and stuff, and breakfast here each morning is delightful.
The room was a splendid double-height room with quirky decoration, nicely cleaned and prepared, and a very comfortable bed.
Once you find it, it's really nicely placed between Maria Formosa and SS Giovanni e Paolo, both of which are great hang-outs, and it's an easy walk to San Marco, Rialto, and to the boat stop up by the hospital.
Very happy with our choice.
- Laura (6/5): Room was tiny - We booked a standard room so knew it wasn't one of the bigger rooms but it was ridiculous. You couldn't fully open the wardrobe doors as the bed was in the way, there wasn't a single shelf or unit to put anything on. Thankfully we only had 1 bag any more I don't know where we would have put them. There was a full size fridge which is not required a small hotel fridge would be ample. The description says mini bar there wasn't 24/7 reception there isn't and a bar which again there isn't. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was what we expected and good. If you stay here pay extra for a deluxe room and you will prob have a better experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel staff was excellent. Location was within our comfort.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A little difficult to find at first, however the hotels location is great once you get your bearings. 7-10 min walk from the Fondamente Nouve water taxi stop and 10 min walk to Rialto Bridge and San Marco square. If you are after a modern/up market hotel this isn’t for you but if you want a traditional stay then it is great. The hotel has its own berth to the canal so we sat by the berth a couple of nights watching the world go by. The room was clean and the fridge was handy. The safe was a little small but took the essentials.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, close to main attractions in venice - Lovely hotel, close to everything we wanted to see, fab stay in venice
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect place to stay - Super friendly staff, very clean room with AC, extremely convenient location to airport taxi and most locations in Venice. Will stay here again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hotel with lots of character - The only complaints I have is how hard this hotel is to find. There are no signs outside the hotel and when you finally enter the courtyard, there are no signs to the reception area so it was difficult to find. Other than that it was a wonderful hotel. Lots of character and friendly staff
- Randal (8/5): Well located for all sights and experiences - A good value and friendly hotel, well located once we had found it!!
- Daniel (8/5): Great roof terrace - We had 4 nights here for a mini moon. We booked it fairly late and so relied on other reviews on this site.
The hotel had an eclectic vibe. We were on the 3rd floor up a steep staircase. As able people, this was not an issue but others may struggle, especially with the final steepest set.
Our room however was as pictured and also to our amazement had a fridge and a roof terrace! So Presecco on the terrace could be enjoyed with views of a nearby church.
The breakfast was pretty good and offered a variety of cereals, conserves, cheeses as well as rolls and filled croissants.
The lady that served us at breakfast was very approachable and helpful. She gave us some good local restaurants to try (Alberto's, 5 minutes away was great).
In fact all the staff at the hotel were friendly throughout our stay.
- John (10/5): B&B in Castello - Good location 10 minutes walk from Rialto Bridge and St Marks Square. Helpful staff. Room 11 was fine with ensuite shower. Standard continental breakfast provided from 8-10. We spent 4 days in Venice and this was fine for us middle 50s married couple.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not that great - You may find difficult to locate the hotel. we reached at 11.30 pm in night and it was very hard to find the place. Room was clean and well maintained but overall structure is not great. services was just ok.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel close to sights - we had a four night stay at this hotel, we arrived quite late due to flight delay but a very nice lady let us into our room. We found it easy to reach following the hotels instructions on how to get there.
- Geeko30 (6/5): Nice Venetian Hotel Centrally Located in Venice - Well located in Venice. It looks like a private home transformed into a hotel. The hotel manager can speak in many languages including French and English. The hotel manager is very helpful with public transport, city attractions and providing information about the city. The staff are very friendly and speak English. The continental breakfast is good with hot buns, hot croissant, cereal, milk, cream cheese, yogurt, juice, coffee, cafe latte, cappuccino, etc. For rooms, room 13 on the main floor was nice, clean, lots of space and more privacy and nicely decorated with Venetian art and furniture. Each room is equipped with a private shower or a bath with shower heads. Rooms are located on several floors. You will be given keys for the two entrances, room and safety box. There is two flight of stairs before you reach the main entrance of the hotel. The Air conditioning is not very strong for North Americans so you will want to open the windows for more fresh air at night. There are also window shutters if you want privacy. About 10 minute walk to St. Mark Place Square, stores, pharmacy, public and private water taxis, restaurants and major attractions.
- William (6/5): Fair - Difficilt to get to the hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay in Venice - I know other folks have said its difficult find.... Well if it's your first time in Venice you might find the streets tricky but it is really quite easy. The big St Paulo et Giovanni square. Calle BRASSANNA next to Nico's restaurant. 30 meters to bridge. Cross over, 10 paces round little corner on left - dead easy. Fabulous place, fabulous fun and friendly and helpful staff. 24/7 access to tea/coffee/chocolate etc. And beautiful old building that used to be the Austrian Ambassadors' residence. Lots of character in every way. Really close to Rialto and St Mark's. 15 mins to La Fenice. But really quiet despite central location. Will definitely be going back. 10/10.
And actually the booking experience was all easy too.
- kin ming (10/5): Nice hotel in old town - Except some tiny wear-out in hotel and toilet, overall the hotel is tidy, clean and comfy. Staff are nice. Happy stay in hotel.
- traveler (10/5): Awesome stay, very good location. - Very good location 5-10 min walk to San Marco square and other main must see places. There is a small super market like a coop nearby. Hotel was clean , staff very friendly (all Italians were friendly). I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Chris (8/5): Nice hotel in centre of Venice - Easy access to all of Venice by foot, specifically St.Marks, Grand Canal, bars, restaurants and water bus stops. If you're looking for a top end Venetian hotel this is not for you. If you are looking for a clean, convenient and pleasant b&b at a reasonable price (for central Venice) then this is perfect. We'll definitely stay here if we go back.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Euro trip - We stayed here during our month long Euro trip. I almost walked away when I saw the place. I am surprised what made other people give it 4+ rating. I stayed there because of a last minute change in our schedule and our hotel had no vacancies. It wasn't easy to find the place and having no elevator didn't help moving full size suitcases upstairs. Soon I found out that there internet is down. Our room had antique furniture with plenty of dust accumulated on light fixtures, etc. There was plenty of mold along the shower tub and the worse was the shower head. I refused to take shower when I saw (god knows what) all the black gunk on the shower head. Don't be fooled by the pictures. Lady that worked in the kitchen was nice
- Adarsh (10/5): - A boutique hotel with its own charm. Very nice staff. Easiest way to get to it from airport is with a direct water taxi.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Staff was super - Hotel is difficult to find. Took us a very long time to reach hotel.
- Michael (10/5): Brilliant - What a fantastic little bed & breakfast! Quite difficult to find so I would recommend looking it up on google maps. The address is wrong on Hotels.com find the hotel at 'Calle Trevisana, 6217'.
We were given a room on the top floor that had a lovely old school Venetian charm to it and most importantly a roof top terrace! (This was a surprise to us but I would suggest asking for this room when booking) Overall the room and hotel were very clean. The bed wasn't the greatest but did the job for us for 4 nights. The lady that runs the place is lovely with good English and she was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast consists of some cereal, bread rolls and croissants. Along with a fantastic home coffee made however you like it.
Location wise it is about 5 minutes from st. Marks and the Rialto bridge. And you can get there easily from the airport by catching the blue line water bus.
Venice is an incredible city that I would recommend every one must see. And I would highly recommended staying at the ca' del console!
- Sunny (10/5): Great location, fantastic staff - The hotel is tucked away, but we found it without any problems. We had a room for 2 adults and 2 children. It was spacious and the high ceiling made if feel even more so. The shower dribbled but it wasn't such a big inconvenience. The room was nicely air-conditioned and the staff were wonderful and charming.
- sakul16 (8/5): Hard to find but nice - The hotel was hard to find. I was glad I looked it up on Google street maps before I went. Our room was really nice and we had a outdoor balcony which was a nice touch. The breakfast was very basic. The hotel is old but nice and clean. It is close to the main sights; only a few minutes walk from most things. We had to pay 12 Euros extra for Tax at the end of our stay! good job I had change.
- EK Lee (8/5): cozy, littlebit difficult to find - Room were fully occupied, we were given an apartment studio instead. The studio was next door of the Locanda.
Problems for hot water and wifi.
- Kathy (8/5): Right in the heart of Venice - We loved the hidden location of the hotel and the closeness to most major attractions. The staff were friendly and helpful and the feel of the place antique and grand. The rooms were cosy, big for what I imagine would be standard in Venice and comfortable without overstated luxury. The bathrooms very modern and clean. The large lounge on the top floor was a common area but was quiet sanctuary for us and our travelling buddies to meet and chat in a lovely space which felt very Venetian indeed.
- K (8/5): - Easy access to water taxi. Hotel was comfortable. What made the stay was the hotel staff. She was simply wonderful and helpful and the hardest worker. Easy access to all the sites, but in a nice quiet location.
- Brenda (10/5): Hotel felt like home - A bit of an adventure finding the door--but it's Venice. We were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff and shown to our room. She helped us by recommending a restaurant for dinner and offering advice for getting around the city. Breakfast was good. But the staff and the decor made the hotel really feel like our home for the two nights we were there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A place with lots of character just like Venice! - We loved staying here. We booked it last minute but it turned out to be amazing! The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is furnished beautifully and with lots of character. The staff is helpful and wonderful. We had a little bit of trouble finding the place but the staff came to meet us at the plaza and walked us over to the place. We recommend this place greatly and will stay there again in the future.
- Britt (8/5): Good location, very cute!! - The hotel was a little tricky to find, but it was in a perfect location and very quaint. It was clean and charming, and had great views over the canal. The only problem was that the WiFi wasn't accessible in the room, we had to go out to the main room.
- Schmittyusa (10/5): small hidden gem - a first timer to Venice this hotel was a little hard to find...but so is everything in Venice(I know now) and I was a little unsure at first as I was travelling myself with my 2 kids but it turned out great. I would stay again in a heartbeat!! the hotel was actually like staying at home. it was clean and neat and homey! once we found it we were walking distance and close to everything! The staff for breakfast was more than accommodating and breakfast was quaint.
- Maggie (6/5): Go Prepared for Anything! - Before you go, be sure to get as detailed directions as you can since it is very hard to find. We used a GPS which got us close so we asked a storekeeper where it was & he was able to direct us. This was only after much guessing as to how to get to Venice from the airport. A man helped us carry our luggage over one bridge unsolicited and then asked for payment. We didn't give him as much as he wanted. The weather was hot & humid & we had heavy baggage with us. Once we arrived, we were ushered upstairs to where the rooms were. It did not feel as though the air conditioning was on at all. We were shown to our room just off the "reception area" and it had 2 full sized beds in the same room. We thought we would have separate rooms as we were 2 couples traveling together. They did offer us the use of their 'apartment' for the same price so we decided to go there. It was much walking & crossing of 6 bridges to get there (remember the heavy luggage?). The a/c made the room somewhat cooler than outside, but not 'cold'; there were 2 beds there separated by a wall that almost reached the ceiling. The fridge was also cool, but not cold ever. We each had 1 thin towel, but at least they were large. There was no housekeeping performed & we did not go back to the other location for breakfast. The 2nd day there, ants marched in the kitchen & bathroom. Overall, it was acceptable, but not a good value for what we paid.
- dharmica (8/5): Wonderful little gem - loved it here, service was wonderful. we had a beautiful room overlooking the canal and the hotel service woman was so friendly and always there if we needed anything at all. we didn't mind the climb to the room. internet was a bit irritating as it wasn't usable in the room only in communal area on second floor. safe secure and decor was adorable!
- Albert (10/5): - Wonderful old house, completely renovated and modernized. Helpful hosts with useful tourist information. Very hospitable and comfortable. A little hard to find as Google maps gets you close but doesn't know the last few streets to the front door. Call when you get close and the host comes out on the street to guide you in. Well worth it.
- Barbra (10/5): Beautiful setting - The hotel is situated near a beautiful square, yet is in a quiet location. The staff are very friendly and the room was nice and clean. The breakfast consists of croissants, bread rolls and butter/jams. They do offer yogurt as well. The breakfast is served at shared tables. The room we stayed in was quite large and had lovely windows that opened to the courtyard.
- Riki (8/5): Simple but homey - Highlights were the staff, the pleasant breakfast room, and the convenient location. The accommodations are simple, a bit worn, but completely adequate. Not a luxury hotel, but not a luxury price either. Bathroom has one of those narrow tubs with a handheld shower sprayer with no way that my American brain could figure to actually get a shower without accidentally spraying everywhere.
- Tim (10/5): Convenient Location, Wonderful Staff, Clean Room - We had a brief stay in Venice and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel. The rooms were clean, maintained well and decorated nicely. The staff was very nice and extremely helpful. We would definietly stay at Locanda Ca' del Console again.
- Kevin (8/5): Was happily surprised - when we booked the hotel we had thought it was in the main facility, once we arrived we were happy to find out the room we booked (we needed a larger room for 4 people) was in a separate fully contained 2 bedroom apartment in a different area of the city. The area the condo is located is off the beaten track, yet still close to everything.
- Owain & Aurora (10/5): Fabulous room! - This was not the easiest place to find (on account of us having several different versions of the address and the door being located up a tiny alley), but once we were in it was fantastic. Our room was huge and full of Venetian character; the bathroom was spacious and spotless. Breakfast was excellent, and once we had got to know our way around, the location turned out to be very convenient. The place is located directly between the Campo Ss Giovanni e Paolo and the Campo Santa Maria Formosa, and is within 10 minutes' walk of both the Rialto and Piazza San Marco. The staff - in particular the maid who seems to do all of the work - were extremely friendly and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this to a couple seeking a quiet, picturesque, and relatively central place to stay in Venezia. Just make sure you take a really precise map which shows you how to find Calle Trevisana, 6217.
- John (8/5): Good option - Great location & very good value in an otherwise expensive city.
