Guest Reviews
- I1160KZjakes (8/5): Affordable, kitchen coffee only, good hot water. - Affordable (35 euros). Shared kitchen with coffee maker with capsules. Good hot water. Tough parking on street, empty your car!!! Taxi from airport is 40euros,, needs stop at train station to get keys from a lock box. Nice apartment. Can leave luggage in apartment and will be brought by them to office at train station for tip.
- Carl (4/5): Not enjoyable - The room was sufficient for 1 night. No private bathroom. No air conditioning, check in is not onsite and hotel.com does not show instructions for check-in this delayed us by 1.5 hours. When calling goes to voicemail. Had to walk 10 min each way to locate office to check in. Staff was friendly but this needs to be listed before you rent i would not haverented
- Don (6/5): - We picked this property from home having never been to Rome. Inexpensive rooms near FCO are hard to find. What we didn't realize was that "near" is relative and you can't walk to FCO. you're going to take a taxi regardless, so getting close maybe isn't as important as we thought.
Having said all that, this is a very inexpensive room. The listing says there is no on site check in desk, which is true, but the property management company has an office staffed from 8 AM to 8 PM within walking distance. This is really nice if arriving before check in, or later in the day. The staff is kind and helpful.
The room is nothing to brag about though. It was in dire need of remodeling. There was abandoned plumbing sticking out of the walls, blinds were stuck, floor tiles needed replaced etc. It was clean though and all we were doing was staging ourselves close to the airport for an early flight out, so it was sufficient. The neighborhood felt safe.
I have no complaints, but it is by far the least nice room we stayed in for 5 weeks in Italy and we were going budget most of the time.
- Tim (10/5): - Very nice and clean. Property manager is excellent and helpful. Great location to everything. Highly recommend.
- Faisal (2/5): - DONT COME HERE!!!!!!! THEIR CHECK IN IS HORRIBLE, they don’t care about your plans it’s just a bad experience overall, dirty rooms as well, just avoid please
- kim eggers (2/5): Larm!
- Rodney (2/5): - The office is blocks away from the rooms, people smoking in common areas, no WiFi, front door to building is unsecure
- nadiagK8142OY (2/5): STAY AWAY - We toured italy for 3 wks & this is the WORST place we have ever stayed in.
This is an apartment with 4 bedrooms, shared bathroom
The sickly chemical deodorizer left us with headaches, the smell was in our clothes, luggage, etc
We asked for 3 single beds & when asked were assured there were, there were not
'plus breakfast served in room' is advertised, there was NO breakfast, there was a kettle & coffee machine
AC did not work, mattresses were thin & very uncomfortable
We were not able to connect to ip address provided, when asked, they told us to 'check the router'
We requested a cab for next morning departure, was confirmed, no one showed up
The area is NOT a good location for airport
There are too many other places to stay, I highly advise to stay away from this one!!!!!!
- Departure36104639915 (2/5): SCAMER - Do not make reservations here or you will lose your money.
This business is not honest, I made a reservation by mistake and exactly 10 seconds later I kindly asked them to cancel my reservation since I couldn't arrive on time and to refund me the amount, but they refused and kept my money knowing that I could not use the room and having warned them within 10 seconds of the reservation. This is a scam, if you don't want to lose your money don't make reservations on this site.
- 299elenik (10/5): The best B&B in Ostia - First time I stayed in dolce sosta was in 2011 ,all rooms are very clean ,warm, with a very elegant interior decoration . The staff extremely friendly imidiatly I felt like home ,the owners extremely helpful gentel and nice people ready to help you with everything, they helped me a lot
Near to train station ,I recommend this B&B for everyone!
- ellenhaywood (10/5): Ask for little apartment on Via Carene #9 - There are different places called La Dolce Sosta in Ostia. The address given here is not the best and farther from beach. You want to stay at Via Carene #9. We stayed there in a lovely little cottage in the family's garden. Has a comfortable bed, kitchenette, bathroom, a little table to sit outside in the garden. It is located on a residential street one block off the beach--just a walk around the corner. Sylvestro drive us to house and back to train station. If you're lucky you will hear him practicing his synthesizer in the morning, enjoy the fountain and pond with fish and a little zoo filled with turtles in the back.
- marchelop (2/5): holiday at ostia - the reservation can be made only by phone. the place is not in OSTIA center, but 25 minutes walking distance. the rooms are in residential building and not all the building is for rent.
when we arrived to the place there was nobody to accept us, and we had to made a call and after 10 minutes the owner came. he is a big cheater, as he was trying to convince us not to stay there because the place is very noisy, he said there is a casino there all night and it is noisy! and drag us to a far location ,in a private apartment next to garages area. only after we refused strongly to stay at this place he accepted to take us back to the apartment which was a very poor room, one of three rooms of one apartment, that has one kitchen for all rooms. free breakfast is just 2 drinks in a carton & 2 rolls in plastic. keep away from this place! no restaurants around & you can reach the center or the sea only by bus.
WE WILL NOT RETURN THERE! we have been to OSTIA many times but never had this experience. try every effort not to stay with them! .
- arezouh (10/5): The best - We spent one week in this B&B. The location is great, easy access to the beach and to the train station. The rooms were clean and the people were so lovely and kind. They provided excellent service! The owner and his family are the best! They made everything very easy for us. We enjoyed this holiday very much only because of this kind family. I highly recommend it.
- DominikaSz (10/5): La Dolce Sosta ..a good memory !! - This summer I spent holidays in Rome with my husband. My friend suggested us La Dolce Sosta at Ostia Lido. B&B was great and surprised me positively, because we spent less money comparing to Rome’s prices. The room was beautiful and cleaned on daily basis. We had A.C. and breakfast. It took only 30min by train to get from B&B to the center of Rome. The bus stop was near the B&B. The seaside is also near the B&B and at arrival the owner gave us all informations and maps of Rome and Ostia too. Next time in Rome will be again at La Dolce Sosta :)
- nnivanov (10/5): The best - Me and my wife stayed here during 7 nights.
La Dolce Sosta is located between Lido Nord and Lido Centro train stations (4-5 min. of walk from each) which is very useful. COTRAL bus goes from and to the Fuimicino Airport from Lido Centro (1.3 eur/ticket, every 20-30 min.) The neighborhood is quiet and authentic. There are a lot of food stores, cafes, restaurants and shops around. 15 min. of walk to a good free beach. Approx. 20 min. to Rome from Lido Nord train station. Train goes every 15-20 min.
The staff was very friendly. Our room was cozy and clean. They cleaned it perfectly every day and changed our linen and towels. The was an A/C in the room and a LED TV. The kitchen has a lot of dishes, coffee machine, big fridge, big table, spoons, knives, forks and all other kitchen stuff.
- carlodb (6/5): Cheap but ordinary - This was an ok option for us as we had to spend one night near the airport before our flight left the next day. Its not that close to the airport, about half an hour in the bus, The bus is only 1 euro and the bus stop just up the street but it was a bit of a wait for the bus to come so allow lots of time. Apparently they offer a shuttle service for 10 euro from the b&b but they were too busy on that particular day.
The owner is very friendly and helpful, there is a communal kitchen down the hallway where you can make your own coffee in the morning, however the coffee machine was very temperamental but it did make good, strong coffee and well worth the struggle. They left a small breakfast tray in our room of dried toast bread and a roll and jam, very ordinary. You do need to phone the owner to come and let you in as I am not sure if they live there. It was hard to locate and was a bit disconcerting as we didn't think we were at the right address as the hotel is located in a housing estate of apartment blocks which the b&b was in (there is a small sign on the entrance to a couple of the blocks). Unfortunately the air conditioning broke down overnight (a very hot night) so our sleep quality was poor. The owner's dad apologised profusely for this the next morning.
