Worst enemy Property is dirty, no amenities, floorboard are sinking due to rot, there is a lot of dust which severely affected one family members asthma, also a lot of mould around the rooms and bathrooms.
We left one hour after check in and had to book another stay elsewhere, we were promised a refund by front of house staff even agreeing to pay for the first night, till now nothing has been done and the back office team have rejected this, despite booking.com being helpful, we now have to approach our bank to sort this out. Although the location is great, id recommend riu next door or tempo, there are a lot better safer and more sanitary hotels within a few minutes walk

* Tentativa de cobrança indevida
* Conduta desrespeitosa e agressiva
* Constrangimento a minha família, especialmente minha esposa grávida
* Falta de profissionalismo e inconsistência nas informações prestadas pela equipe

Staff were friendly and welcoming and always ready to help. Restaurant, Serendity within same building. Water kettle for those who love warm water/tea, should be considered in the future
- Kyrylo (8/5): - Great friendly staff
Wonderful location Bathroom wasn't exactly clean, esp floor - I regretted not taking my slippers
AC wasn't working, and window didn't open, so it was pretty hot in there.

- Amy (8/5): - Friendly staff. The bed was metal frame so it was really creaky, the bathroom was freeeeeezing cold and the Aircon was super noisy. A cleaning lady didn't knock and just walked in on me one day too as she'd left a bag of rubbish in my room.
- Hurova (9/5): Som spokojna, opat by som si vybrala oyo times square kvoli polohe a ludom. - Velmi dobra lokalita a super personal a sluzby. V kupelni v rohoch boli plesne. Nic zavazne ale chcelo by to vycistit lepsie.
- Stead (7/5): - The location was good for getting around the city as it's very central and close to subway stations. The bed frames were VERY loud and creaky and me and my friend woke often when the other moved in their sleep. They even creaked when you just walked on the floor next to the bed! Looked underneath and the frames seemed bent and damaged in places. Endless noise from outside during the night, which is to be expected in central times square. Cleaners sometimes try come in about 9.30am, which is annoying if you're still asleep after a restless, creaky bed/noise outside broken sleep. There was a cockroach one night. Also can't go upstairs from the lobby, you can only come downstairs, the lifts can take forever so you can be waiting in the lobby 5 minutes before one arrives to go up.

- Global36355385314 (2/5): Worst Hotel I Have Ever Stayed At - Review of OYO Hotels
This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, and I will be formally disputing the charges with my credit card company.
The first room I was assigned (Room 823) was completely unacceptable. It was visibly filthy—there was dirt and grime on the walls, bedding, and throughout the bathroom. The condition of the room was so unsanitary that it was not reasonably habitable.
I was then moved to Room 222, which was only marginally better. It still fell far below any basic standard of cleanliness or habitability. The bed was extremely uncomfortable (closer to a cot than a hotel bed), and the shower leaked significantly, flooding the bathroom floor. I have photographic evidence of these conditions.
Sleep was essentially impossible. The walls are paper-thin, and excessive noise from surrounding rooms and the hallway carried through constantly.
In addition to the physical condition of the rooms, there were billing issues. I booked through a third-party provider and was charged a “facility fee.” I addressed this multiple times with front desk staff and was explicitly assured that this fee would not be charged. Despite those assurances, the charge still appeared on my card. This is a clear misrepresentation of the terms and will be included in my dispute.
The overall environment of the hotel was also unacceptable, including a persistent smell of marijuana in the lobby.
For approximately $350 per night per room (two rooms), this experience was not just disappointing—it was a complete failure to provide the basic services paid for. The condition of the rooms and the undisclosed/incorrect charges constitute a material breach of what was advertised and paid for.
I will not stay at this property again, and I strongly caution others. If you value basic cleanliness, accurate billing, and the ability to sleep, avoid this location
- 0246227581a6710749325d99a655162f (8/5): - Location was perfect, room was very small, would have loved aroom with a view for the price that I paid for a one night stay, I would only recommend if the person had no other options. Room was too small, price was too high, the room had a vent in the ceiling that made noise all night, and the bed was too squeaky, it made a squeaky sound with every turn.
- 150keim (10/5): Wonderful experience - I’m a repeat customer to this establishment and will come again. I want to thank the lovely and attentive staff for making feel welcomed. Front desk staff Maria and Isiah both were friendly and helpful with my check-in. It really made the experience memorable for me.

- Mariam (8/5): -
- Shipa (4/5): - The room was so small and had no chairs to sit and no fridge
- Maha (8/5): - Loved the location and the lobby area. The staff were nice. The beds were very uncomfortable, they squeaked every time you moved and the mattress was very thin. It almost felt like a pull out bed from a couch. My back hurt. Shower pressure was very low which made it tricky to shower quickly.

- johnathano908 (10/5): Maria is the best! - I had a great experience at OYO Times Square Hotel, and I want to give a special shoutout to Maria at the front desk. She was incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely helpful from the moment we arrived.
We had an issue with our initial room, and Maria handled it immediately—no hassle, no attitude—just efficient, excellent service. She switched us to a new room right away and made sure everything was taken care of.
It’s rare to come across someone who is both so friendly and so effective at their job, and Maria really made a difference in our stay. Because of her, our experience at OYO Times Square was smooth and enjoyable.
Thank you, Maria, for going above and beyond—we truly appreciate it!
- emilpL8181KM (4/5): Cheap online but expensive upon check in. - The location is perfect when you want to be near times square and other attractions like broadway shows, briant park or radio city etc. A bit loud at night due to the busy street. Stayed for 2 days. Beddings and towels are cleaned daily wgich is a plus. Hotel is descent. The room is small. Bed is a spring bed that squicks a lot. The bathroom is not clean, the flooring and walls have stains in it. The shower does not drain properly due to uneven floors. Water floods when showering. I paid 2 days online 2 weeks before our stay. Upon checking in, i was charged $200 bucks for security deposit despite fully paid stay. They also charged me mandatory $44 bucks for amenities? I ask the desk what aminities. He said like coffee maker, fridge and internet. Which i declined needing them. This charge does not appear when booking online. It only is mentioned when checking in. SO BEWARE!!!!. CHEAP BUT GETS EXPENSIVE ONCE YOU CHECK IN. Our first hotel Ameritania was far the best so far. Honest employees and helpful to. Same near broadway and times square.
- B7318RAivonnes (2/5): Stay away!!!!! - I scheduled my trip for 4/7 I canceled two weeks before trip and the cancelation policy is to cancel 24 hours before.EVERY person i talked to say that I will get my refund but suspiciously enough they can't issue my refund only their escalation team can and only way to communicate with them is email and they have emailed me twice saying im not eligible for refund no reason given straight up scam.

- sharont116 (10/5): Great stay - We went to the OYO in Feb this year we had a cracking time we should have only been there for 7 nights but we got caught in the snow blizzard that saw the airports go into lock down so we were there for an an extra 5 days couldn't fault the hotel went down to reception and spoke to an amazing guy who told us to rebook the room and then come back down and he would keep us in the same room which we had to do again which was fine our room again couldn't fault apart from it being a bit on the dark side but no biggie room was clean safe worked shower was massive and the water was hot
The location is amazing you literally walk out of the hotel and Boom your in Times Square subway opposite the hotel would 100% recommend the hotel and will 100% go back cant wait to go back dont listen to all the negative Nellys as all you do is sleep in the room as your out all day enjoying the madness that is NY
- GIBRAN (1/5): I was stolen by the hotel - Nada , o hotel até hoje não me devolveu meu saldo do cartão de crédito: segue conversa por e-mail

- Platt (6/5): - Location Dated small rooms & metal beds
- Jennyfer (7/5): Perfect location, basic but convenient hotel - I really loved the location, it's right next to Times Square, close to main restaurants, clothing stores, and souvenir shops. It's also very convenient because there are subway stations nearby, which makes it easy to use public transportation. The staff was very friendly and helpful; they explained clearly how the property damage fee works, which made everything easier to understand. I didn’t like that the rooms were smaller than I expected. They were a bit uncomfortable with the luggage we had, but they were okay for just sleeping. Also, the elevator was very small and slow during peak hours, and the heating didn’t work properly, it only gave cold air. Luckily, it wasn’t very cold, so we kept it turned off.
Additionally, cold air could come in through the windows even though they were sealed with black tape, and at night there was some noise from outside the building, probably from machines. However, it wasn’t a big problem and we were still able to sleep well. The heating system could be improved, especially for winter or spring. Also, the maintenance of the walls could be better in terms of painting, and the beds sometimes made noise.

- JlynnB83 (10/5): I Love NYC - The friendly service and extra amenities accommodating my stay.
- W6252JTrebeccag (10/5): Gorgeous gem - Maria is an absolute gem. This trip was last minute that was planned and the staff made everything so smooth and enjoyable! I am so happy that we selected this location, we will definitely be back. The location is pretty central to everything in times square. You won't go wrong with having everything at your disposal! Gorgeous restaurant downstairs called Serendipity!
- Curiosity40523676048 (10/5): Can’t beat the price and location! - For the price, and convenience to Times Square, it really can’t be beat! We had to be in town from Orlando/Miami for a dance event, and was able to grab a room super last minute. Maria at the front desk was efficient and HILARIOUS lol, I wish all front desk people at hotels could be so nice!
- 612naimam (10/5): 10/10 Maria at the front desk is the best! - Came to NYC, for the first time booked this hotel and this wonderful woman named Maria, helped me with anything I needed or wanted, I was confused about a couple of things and she didn’t hesitate to help me out, she went above and beyond for me even though she didn’t know me, she made my nyc hotel experience a 10/10!!
- Moutali (1/5): -
- Kimberly (2/5): The rooms need updating, refresh and better quality beds and pillows desperately. Thin walls could hear my neighbors all - Being in Times Square and walkable distance to Broadway shows, Central Park and bus routes. Liked Serendipity connected, had great waffles! The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. Poor quality and thin mattress like a fold out style bed. Tiny room kept scratching my leg on the 2nd bed as no room to walk around. Bathroom poor condition with cracked shower floor tiles.
- Shannon (4/5): Disappointed 😩 - Close to theaters. Deceptive. Beautiful entry but room was very disappointing. One towel rack and cheap towels in bathroom. Had to ask for towels and/or washcloths every night. Had to have commode worked on every other day. No ice machine . No refrigerators and/or microwave.
- Antonio (4/5): -
- Brent (9/5): - On 47th Street opposite the Palace Theatre
Easy walking distance to subway and bus options
Easy access to Broadway theatres
Easy access to food options
Easy access to tourist attractions
Quiet Bed was a little squeaky.
Hot water in the shower took some time to come on
- Danielle (1/5): Not worth money - Nothing The room not what we booked , bed was not clean the hot water never worked at anytime of the day when went for shower. The blinds had holes in them the heating never worked and put out cold air! We paid extra for a lager bed when we booked and got IKEA bed instead
.... it was ikea bed frame and bed mattress.

- Sdmny (4/5): Not worth the cheaper price tag - The location was great. The staff was very nice. The room was horrible. The room was so small you could not even move around it easily. So the floor was only vacuumed in that time space. The beds were on frames without box springs so everything squeaked every time you moved. The sheets had holes in them and the pillows were old and flat. The bathroom was the worktop. There is no shower door or curtain. There is a fisted piece of glass that is 1/4 of the shower. So it was cold and water was everywhere. The towels were threadbare. The windows are single paned and you could hear everything all night long.
- Mattie (7/5): It was a good stay. The staff members were very cordial and helpful. - It was centrally-located. You could hear the cooling systems. It was a bit noisy.
- Maria (10/5): -
- Corry (5/5): -
- Leisa (6/5): - location room was very, very small. shower pressure was non existent .
Solicitei a troca imediata do quarto.

- Lyons (1/5): I ended up leaving this place it’s now what they make it out to be booking.com and the hotel the hotel ppl help me more - Nothing the only thing that looks nice is the lobby. Everything rooms not up to par, paints on walls trash in hallways smells shitty place
- karenbX9258AW (8/5): Great location but difficulty receiving deposit back - Great location literally around the corner from Times Square, stayed in room 502, lovely and warm, hot showers too, bed made and towels changed every day.
That is the plus side!!! No as past comments still no refund from our deposit, I have emailed numerous addresses and receive the same worded email saying no information on their files, I booked through Opodo who gave me the relevant information and also attached evidence of booking and deposit paid but still nothing BEWARE!!!

- Joshua (1/5): Horrible - Hated it Nothing worked
- Nauman (1/5): dont trust them with your Payment Cards. Save your Money! - Just one front desk guy named Richard. he listens to you and delivers. NEVER EVER give them the "REFUNDABLE" stay or property tax on card that they claim they will give back upon checkout. Its been 1 months and i still have not received my Refund of 269 USD. i tried giving them cash and they said they ONLY accept cards (for sure so they dont send it back) i tried opening tickets and its an endless loop. this hotel is a SCAM in short :).
- 820sharronm (2/5): Don’t stay here, find somewhere else to stay. - Booked a superior queen room to accompany my daughter in law & granddaughter who won a holiday to New York.
Upon arrival the reception looked quite nice and the gentleman on reception polite, he asked for a credit card for security , I had already paid upfront for 4 nights.
As soon as I got in the elevator i realise it’s not what I thought, I was in room 319, my god I have honestly never been in such a dirty place (I have travelled west to east of the USA). Dirty carpets with uneven floor, mould covered bathroom, dirty walls and taped up windows! It was 8pm at night so 1am Uk time and too late to find an alternative, needless to say I checked out the next morning after a cold uncomfortable night. It is now 5 weeks and I am still in a dispute over 2 charges of £99 & £132 plus tax that they took off my card, after phone calls and emails and a promise of contact within 48hrs I have now taken the dispute up with my credit card company. So not only did I lose the £790 room cost I then had to pay for a room in an alternative hotel for the remaining 3 nights.

- bevkev7 (2/5): HELL HOLE - VILE and DISGUSTING hotel! Rooms small and smelt of urine, dingy and dirty. Did not want to even take my shoes off as the carpet was filthy with stains.
The bed is like a prison bed, thin mattress with metal thin frame. Sharp edges as you try and walk around the edge of the room. I had to put 2 towels in the corners of the frame as I cut my shins. The bed was not a double, it was smaller and the mattress did not fit the frame (hence why you caught your legs in the sharp metal frame)
Nowhere to hang your clothes, just 1 broken hanger and a few pegs sticking out of the wall!
Bathroom disgusting, not clean and big crack in sink. Window blind broken and covered In stains. Air con/heating did not work and the loudest noise coming from the unit which was unbearable.
As we checked in late at night we had no option but to stay 1 night as we had just got off a long haul flight and was tired. This was the worst nights sleep (I didn’t have much to be honest) I have ever had!
We checked out of this HELL HOLE and found another hotel which was AMAZING for not that much more money.
The whole hotel is run down and no way on this earth is it a 4 star hotel.
The bad reviews you read are all true, please please avoid this hotel and go elsewhere for slightly a bit more money.
- Mildogs1 (2/5): There are budget hotels, then there is the OYO time square. - I knew the hotel was basic and that was fine. I’ve been to NYC many times and know I won’t be spending time in the room other than to sleep and shower.
The room was tiny even by NYC standards. With barely room to walk by the end of the beds. It was clean but needed maintenance. There were scuffs on the walls, Out of 3 outlets in the room only 1 worked. The outlet in the bathroom worked fine. The paint work in the room was chipped and there was a horrific draft from the window. Oh and the blind didn’t roll up and was all frayed at the edges.
The showerhead had mildew on it and
there was no hot water, bear in mind while we were there temperatures were well into the minus figures and we had snow.
When we explained the hot water situation to reception they told us there is a knack to it on the 9th floor and we had to run the hot sink tap for 30 seconds and then put the shower on. Turned out we had to run the hot sink tap for 2 to 3 minutes to get any hot water.
This was the final straw for us and after 2 nights we checked out and went elsewhere that had instant running hot water.
I was t expecting the plaza but I was expecting hot water and working outlets.
- Coastal17279411856 (2/5): The worst Hotel - This was the worst hotel I have stayed at in 25 years. I do not understand why they even call it a hotel—it is really a motel, and even motels are better than this place. The air conditioning did not provide heat; it only blew cold air. The toilet and shower were in terrible condition. I noticed other guests also took photos of the toilets and showers and posted them here as examples of how bad they are. Hopefully, even if this place offers the lowest price in town, no one will stay there. I truly regret staying here. I can barely give it one star.

- Relax502199 (2/5): Security Deposit Never Refunded | Charged Extra Without Consent - I stayed at OYO Times Square, New York from Dec 23 to Dec 26. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
At check-in, the reception demanded a $100 security deposit. I offered to pay cash, which was refused. I was told they only accept cards. When my card was charged, I noticed they deducted $134 instead of $100. The staff casually claimed this extra amount was a “service charge” and said this was “normal.” I have stayed in multiple hotels across the US and have never encountered this practice.
It has now been over one month, and no security deposit has been refunded.
Attempts to resolve this:
Emails: No response at all
Phone calls: Staff repeatedly claim they have no record of my booking, despite having a valid booking reference, and then disconnect the call
Agoda support: Agoda confirmed they attempted to contact the property multiple times but received no response from the hotel
The front desk staff were hostile and intimidating, not helpful. Any question about the refund was met with dismissive behavior, raised voices, and bullying tactics rather than customer service.
What makes this worse is that after my stay, I found numerous similar complaints online describing:
Inflated “security deposits”
No refunds
Property denying bookings afterward
Complete lack of accountability
In my experience, this hotel’s deposit handling appears deliberately opaque and misleading. I strongly recommend avoiding this property unless you are comfortable risking your money and spending weeks chasing a refund that may never come.
I am posting this review to warn future guests and to document my experience publicly, since private communication has failed entirely.
Avoid this hotel.

- fionnp42 (6/5): Received deposit back quickly, friendly staff, basic hotel. - All of the staff were lovely. This is a very basic hotel, the beds aren’t very sturdy but the shower is warm and the room is clean so if you are looking for a budget hotel, perhaps as a solo traveller then this would be good for you. We didn’t have an issue with the noise but the walls are paper thin and there was no view from our window. We got our deposit back within the hour after checking out.
- juancarlosv183 (2/5): THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN - THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN
Disgraceful treatment, liars, shameless staff. A dirty, run-down hotel in terrible condition, practically abandoned. Tiny rooms with no working heating. Room service does not do its job at all.
Please DO NOT stay at this hotel under any circumstances. We spent 7 days there over Christmas, paid a very high price because of its location, and the service was not just bad — it was completely non-existent.
Dirty hotel: elevators went days without being cleaned; walls, carpets and armchairs were filthy and disgusting to sit on; peeling walls, dirty and clearly not painted in a very long time.
During a one-week stay, our room was not cleaned and towels were not changed for 4 days. The heating did not work (NY temperatures were between -1°C and -9°C all week). It wasn’t until the 4th day that they provided us with a heater, which was completely insufficient to warm the room.
We asked to speak to the manager 4 times. Even after going at the times we were told, the manager never showed up.
We filed a complaint and were told we would be refunded part of the cost for services not provided — which, of course, never happened.
The email address on their website does not work, so you cannot contact them. When you call, the responsible staff never answer.
We also filed a complaint with the agency we booked through, and they were not attended to either.
This hotel should be fined and shut down for scamming customers — charging for services they do not provide and do not deliver, but still collect payment for.
SHAMELESS.
- Ilaria (6/5): Posizione ottima il resto no! - Posizione Camere piccole e sporche

- georgedN9100FU (4/5): cheap looking - Wouldn't recommend hotel to anyone it was clean my room small toilet overflowed kept smashing my legs off the bed it was that tight to get to bathroom nothing to see outside window barely see sunlight because room was enclosed with buildings all around. Staff are good but hotel in need of a lot of updating and repair
- Robert (2/5): Location good that’s all I can say - The location was good Dirty three nights when pulled bed down the sheets had blood stains on sheets found this out after 10pm had to go down stairs requested clean sheets. They gave me clean sheets that I had to put on bed. Shower had mild in corners and no heat in room
