Guest Reviews
- Lau (2/5): - The property owner deny my check in saying that no infant allow. And check in time is before 3pm sharp. She message me via expedia one day before my check in date say no late check in and no refundable. Beware of this scam hotel appartment. The contact number at expedia website is incorrect too.
A entrada é as escadas eram sujas.
—-
Impossible to sleep with so much noise.
Window is not anti noise.
Fan does not respond to the heat in the room.
Worst of all is a work in the building with operarios in the sheds that can see everything inside the room. The curtains are transparent and they can see us.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not too good! - We arrived after the check-in time, at the door we found an envelope with my name and instructions, it cost us a lot of work to check in since everything was for instructions and there was nobody to ask, only a phone number to let them know that you arrive, the Main door is too small, hardly fits one person, it cost us a lot of work go through with our bags.
the third day they supposedly did the cleaning (only the beds were made) they did not leave toilet paper, there were ants for all the furniture in the room, it had a strange smell if you did not turn on the air conditioning, they did not announce that there would be construction work around, So every day we had noise in the morning and the day we left our window the workers looked out our window and could see everything, there was no curtain.
the method of communication of the place was by post it notes that they left you at the door to warn you of things, as for example that you will not forget to leave the city tax on the table.
Also the last day the internet was not working but I think was a general issue in all the city.
the only positive thing is the location.
- Cheuk Sze (2/5): Money stolen - My friend and I recently stayed at this place for three days and never met any of the staff. On our last night we went out for dinner for three hours, and left some of our cash hidden in our luggage. The next day, after checking out, we both realized some of the money left at the place was stolen. I lost about 100 pounds and my friend lost about 100 pounds and 100 euro.
They did not take all of the money, but instead took a variety of bills, making it less noticeable at first glance. Because we had counted our money the night before, we are both certain that our money was stolen during the time we left the hotel.
As travelers, it was extremely difficult to connect with the hotel staff as they were never to be seen. They were only available by phone and we did not travel with an international SIM card.
Thereby we are writing this review to warn fellow travelers and for the hotel to get in touch with us to resolve this issue.
- Arlene (8/5): - Very clean, very nice with an EXCELLENT location! Will stay here again and recommend to friends and family. My only concern was that that WiFi was sporadic.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Did not like that needed to confirm how to get in as no front desk. It isn't,t until you book the hotel it is mentioned that you need to get instructions. One couple who already got there from China who already paid did not realize this phoned their booking agency and found out their room was now not available and they lost their payment. Now they were trying to find a room at 8:30 at night. I had an experience that I was trying to call the hotel to get my instructions. I finally had to call expedia only to be told that they do not answer their phone untill 10:30 am. Lady who took payment abrupt. Wasn't given sightseeing pamphlet s and no area map. Overall would rate this room as a 1 out oh 5 due to staff and difficult y in signing in into room. Expedia should let people know about this room.
- LAURO (8/5): - ES UN HOSTAL MUY BIEN UBICADO, SIN EMBARGO LA HABITACION ERA MUY PEQUEÑA. EL ELEVADOR NO SERVIA Y ESTÁ EN EL TERCER PISO. TENIAMOS UNA RESERVACION CON MUCHA ANTICIPACION, ENVIE UN CORREO PARA CONFIRMARLA Y NUNCA CONTESTARON. AL LLEGAR PARECE QUE NO NOS ESPERABAN. NO HAY RECEPCION , DE SUERTE ESTABA LA CHICA DE LA LIMPIEZA Y PUDIMOS ENTRAR.
- Hilary (8/5): Small but good location - Overall, my husband and I had a pleasant stay at the Locanda San Giovanni. This is not a hotel so there isn't a front desk or someone you can easily speak to if you need something. You have to set up your check-in with the location 48 hours prior to your arrival and that whole process was a bit stressful as the phone numbers/email addresses that hotels.com provided were not correct. I had to call customer service 4 times and ended up getting 3 different phone numbers and 5 different email addresses, eventually one of the phone numbers worked (all the mail addresses bounced back except one) and it went to someone's mobile phone who told me someone would be there at the time we were planning to arrive. Once we were at the location, the check-in process was simple. I loved the location of the Locanda as it's very close to the Dome and other sites that you'd want to see in Florence. There are restaurants and markets close by. The room and bathroom are tiny so be prepared to be in close quarters with whoever you're traveling with. The shower drained very slowly so I would have to turn the water off mid shower a couple times so the shower wouldn't overflow. Although the building/room was older, it was clean and tidy.
Local perfeito.
- Vahid (6/5): Wrong information! - The room we got was supposed to have a private bathroom inside the room which did not!
The bathroom was not only detached but shared. The owner offered us another room in another hotel but the other room was not clean and it was very dark.
- HAMISH (6/5): Euro trip - Was ok good location
- vitaly (2/5): Terrible place - The house under renovation so even the good location is no view
Few little rooms with communal kitchen
May be one room with shower inside
Others with external shower, looks terrible
Stay away!!!
- Sara (6/5): Florence - The location was perfect. Within walking distance of everything and right in the middle of a large square. The only issue we had was with check in. Upon arrival to the hotel we had to spend about 20 minutes calling around trying to get ahold of the owners to come check us in and get us in. After getting ahold of them it took about an hour for them to get there and they they took another hour to get the room ready. Other than the hassle with check-in, everything else was fine. The room was snug but accommodating, the kitchen had general utensils as well as tea and instant coffee available.
- Edizkan (6/5): Central location - Locanda San Giovanni is a small apartment that is better suited for students, and light travelers. It is centrally located and walking distance to all main attractions in Florence such as the Accademia (Statue of David) and Uffizi gallery (Leonardo's 3 paintings), and right across the Medici Chapel. Shopping, sight seeing, all the things you want to do in Florence is all around this location.
- James (10/5): A hidden treasure - The accommodation is in a very good location. Mr Zanobetti was really helpful, seriously I can not mention negative things.
- Lodovico (10/5): Ottimo B&B - Una camera accogliente e luminosa.
- Gianni (10/5): ottimo soggiorno - Camera confortevole e pulita. Personale gentile e professionale.
- Dennis (4/5): Not what we expected - Tricky to find. Owner leaves early and gives instructions by email. extremely difficult to get your luggage up to the third floor. Plus, you don't have your personal bathroom and toilet and shower are together in the same space. room is not very comfortable and not clean.
- Manuel (8/5): Very central. - Fantastic location. Very friendly staff. A bit quirky but adds to the charm. Only a bit of TLC to make the room more appealing.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away!!!! - The checking in process was most difficult. The owner wasn't there for our arrival despite the fact that the sign on the front door stated otherwise. It was by pure luck that other people staying at the B&B heard us ring the doorbell after ten minutes of standing at the front door in the rain. I then had to call a number to let them know I had arrived but because the owner was having lunch, he sent someone else to check us in. Very unprofessional. Once checked in, we were shown our room. To say that it was disgusting, particularly the bathroom is an understatement, so much so that we didn't shower the two nights we were there. The shower was filled with mould, the sink was clogged and the blow dryer would stop working after 30 seconds because it overheated (tried to use it to try to dry my hair after waiting in the rain). It supposedly came with breakfast but we had to leave the place and walk to a cafe to get our coffee/croissant.......really????? And to make matters worse, we could only use the vouchers during a certain time period. We didn't use the vouchers the first day because we had a tour planned nor did we on day 2 because it was an inconvenience. I do a lot of travelling and always choose to stay at B&B's, this was by far the worst experience ever, not worth the money!!!!!!!!
- Lili (4/5): Great Location but... - Great location, it just next to the San Lorenzo Church. But the room is very tiny, the wifi is not working. We can't find any staff except mornings. It is very noisy and u cant image how many mosquitos in the room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty - This hotel is quite filthy and it is infested with bedbugs.
- Sarah (8/5): Simple, but great location - The B&B was in a great central location, and the manager of the place was very warm & welcoming despite us arriving late. The room was very basic, but a great base for our trip. Breakfast was brought to the room at the time we had chosen, and everyone was incredibly friendly. Despite some maintenance issues, I would definitely return here becuase it had a great location and atmosphere
- Ed (8/5): Great location, great host, rooms so-so. - This is a 3 star place, with a good location. Breakfast was prettty good, and Lodo was terrific, but can't say much for the rooms. Old and outdated, moldy shower curtain.
- Leo & Lucy (8/5): Good hotel close to everything - The great of this hotel is the location, it is in the Heart of Florence, it is a block from the Duomo, walking distance from the train station, you can walk for all the major attractions. The Hotel is tiny, I guess in the 4th floor, the room & bathroom are very small, but if you are like us that only use the hotel to sleep at night and you are all day visiting, this is perfect. Ludovico is very nice and helpful, he recomends us great restaurants to eat and a good gelateria. The breakfast is coffee or chocolate with a croissant but enough to start the day.
We love Florence and enjoying our days there.
- Indira (10/5): Nice Bed & Breakfast close to everything! - A short walk from the train station, we got there in 10 minutes. Our host was SO helpful and kind with us, he was even able to reserve our tickets for the Ufizzi Gallery and reccommended great places to eat around the city. Our breakfast was very nice and right on time. The room was clean, simple but pleasant. The location was excellent, really close to the main attractions in town.
- kpetrillo (4/5): good location, but definitely wouldnt go back - first off it said that check in started early in the morning, so after 11 hours of traveling in the car we thought "great, we'll be able to check in as soon as we arrive in the late afternoon" but that wasn't the case. We had to wait until 1730 just to have the owner tell us the room that we reserved was not ready and had some kind of issue with the AC and we wouldnt be allowed in the room until after 1930. We were able to ask him about a couple of places he'd recommend going to for dinner since we had to wait and it was an alright place. Once we got back to the hotel, the next morning we had to go up to his area and tell him we were ready to check out. He did take off 20Euro for our inconvenience in waiting for the room. But between the shower being exactly where you use the restroom and it not being the cleanest, i dont think id ever recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not stay at this place - This place is dirty dump. A bare single bulb in the bathroom so you shower in a moldy space with peeling paint. WiFi did not work at all.
- s (8/5): Stay - Basic room but near Duomo and many other sites.
Nice Country
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do NOT stay here! - Recently we stayed at San Lorenzo B&B in Florence for two nights and our stay was extremely dis satisfactory and we were appalled by the hotel and its staff. Firstly, the hotel room was extremely bad; no hot water, the bathroom door did not close, the tv did not work, the wifi was off for a whole day during our stay, and breakfast was served to our room early while we were both still in bed. We spoke to the manager of the hotel regarding our concerns and he flew off the handle at us. He personally insulted myself and my girlfriend and threatened us. We were told 'make sure you are not there when I get back'.
- Pieter (10/5): Excellent Location - Good B&B. Very nice management. Excellent location. Ok its simple, but for the price you cannot beat it.
- Anne (6/5): Cozy and homely - Cute small room. The caretaker was super nice and made us feel welcome. Very good location!!
- hels (8/5): Great Location - the B and B was in a great location and handy to all the major sights. the owner was friendly and helpful and told us about the fireworks whilst we were there. breakfast was simple and enough to start the day with. the towels and bathroom were tired and the room needed an update and paint but the bed was comfy and the air conditioning was a great help for a cool nights sleep!
- Grace (8/5): Great Location and great staff - Great B&B in the center of Florence at walking distance from train station, close to everything, very easy to find. Great staff, very nice, helpful and friendly. The room was clean with a good size. We would stay there again.
- Baby Travelers (6/5): Excellent staff, place could use some love - Before you continue reading, keep in mind we were traveling with a 19 month old. Location was key. Right on Piazza San Lorenzo and around the corner from the Duomo. Very quiet considering the San Lorenzo Market was at our doorstep. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, anxious to please. The place itself could use some love. Felt outdated and run down. Most of the lights in our room had either burnt out bulbs or didn't work altogether so it was pretty dimly lit. There was no toilet paper holder in the bathroom. Towels were stiff and uncomfortable. So it was clean and useful but not enough to want to hang out in the room. It was nice having access to a kitchen with mini-fridge and stove. And the way the breakfast pastries were prepared, you'd never know they came out of a package. But those pre-packaged dolchi seem to be a standard in Italy. The price was high but for Florence it was a good deal.
- Ross (8/5): Recommended B and B for Florence visit. - This is a recommended place to stay in Florence. Immediately adjacent to Piazza San Lorenzo, right in the centre of Florence.
This b and b is very close to the railway station and all amenities.
The hotel management are excellent and helpful with local knowledge.
- April (8/5): Cute, quaint, great location, reliable breakfast, even an elevator! - I really enjoyed my 4 nights in Florence thanks to San Lorenzo B & B. Our room was on the smaller side but comfortable, and painted/decorated just fine. Though small, the bathroom and shower also functioned well (not a given in Italy's small B&B's). It was located above a street market where you can buy all the souveneirs you've ever wanted and within walking distance to all attractions in Florence (10 min to Ponte Vecchio/Uffizi Gallery, 1.5 min to Duomo, 3 min to Accademia). One of the best parts of this B & B was the breakfast. You sign up for a time in the morning when you want your breakfast ready. Say you pick 8:30am, you can come out of your room in your pj's to the breakfast table and the attendant has made hot coffee with milk, juice and freshly baked croissants with jam. You can chill for about 30 minutes and then normally the next couple comes out to eat, but I mean, wow! I felt like I was at home, it was very enjoyable. Also, which is rare in Italy, this small B & B had a an elevator. So if you have a problem climbing stairs or just plain tired, this is def a help. This isn't a handicap/disabled friendly B & B, but it is more convenient than other places I've stayed. I would absolutely stay here again.
