Guest Reviews
- Nomad63581819809 (10/5): You must stay here when in Florence - Exceptional service and quality accommodation in central Florence.
Our hosts went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and provided local knowledge for restaurants and activities.
There was nothing that we could fault which is a great relief after 2 months of travelling.
- 89jackieg (10/5): Perfect base from which to explore Florence - This delightful small guest house is perfectly positioned and within walking distance of everything. The facilities were excellent. The cosy communal lounge had everything needed 24/7, snacks, tea, coffee, milk, water, juice, fridge, cups, mugs. Tea and coffee making facilities also in our room. The owners Daniele and Alessia were so helpful in giving us a map and recommending where to go to maximise our 3 night stay. We would definitely return.
- 90lisetted (6/5): Don’t stay here if you have a rental car - This B&B is located on the second floor of an historic building near the center of Florence. The room was good, bed comfy, and continental breakfast was nice. The staff is not there 24/7, but when they are they were very helpful and pleasant.
Here was our issue. We rented a car in Rome after an overnight flight from the states and drove the 3 hours to Florence for our 3 night stay. We could not find the garage they directed us to use, and ended up driving around for hours until finally finding it. Unfortunately, the garage and the B&B are in the car-restricted zone. But no worries, they told us - they would work with the garage owner (with which they have an arrangement and send all their guests to) and he would contact the local police to let them know we were staying at the inn and we were forced to drive into this restricted zone to get to the garage and B&B.
We thought we were all set, until almost a year later (we stayed there in September 2023) we received 2 violations in the mail with substantial fines from the Firenze Policia! When I contacted the B&B they said they would take care of it. We thought we were all set… until 5 months later we received the 2 violations in the mail AGAIN. This time when I contacted the B&B they said there was nothing they could do and it was our fault. So now we have no choice but to pay 358 EUROS to the Florence police. Bottom line - do not stay here if you have a rental car!!!
- alissa (8/5): - Lovely hotel, but a 20-min walk to the Duomo area, so a little far away. Very pretty room with a small terrace. Very comfortable. No breakfast included.
- yifen (10/5): - Super helpful and responsive when I forgot my purse in the room after check out! Clean room, convenient location and quiet area.
- Roy (10/5): - Danielle and Alyissa (sp?) were excellent hosts. They gave us a good Florence briefing when we arrived and made great recommendations for dining and site seeing.
- Diba (8/5): - Nice couple runs guest house. Helpful. There usually wasnt anyone there to help you bit if you contacted them, they were happy to come over or help on the phone or via whatsapp. The bathroom could do with somw reno. There was a hole in the wall and the mold in shower needs to be dealt with. Safe neighborhood with clean linens and AC.
- Linda (8/5): - Excellent staff - could not do enough for us. Excellent location
- jasonf591 (8/5): Decent stay, with some issues - The rooms are on the second floor and accommodations with snacks and drinks are great. Location is nice, close to great places to eat and the main attractions. The rooms were comfortable and well cleaned daily.
Issues we had were the electricity not working. Plugs in various places in the room would go out. This happened in all rooms and other guests were told it was them. We found that to be unnecessary, because this was their issue. One night the power all went out. Their breakers need to be upgraded. Plugging in one charger shouldn't blow the circuits. Other times, their coffee maker or light plug-ins wouldn't work. Honest communication about the issue being on their end, telling guests they will get it fixed, instead of blaming guests, is a smarter approach in the future. If these fixes are made, we would gladly stay again.
Heads up of a city ordinance for no AC until at least June so it can be hot.
- Charlotte (10/5): Lovely hotel, great location & personal touches - Loved our stay here, the friendliest hotel we have ever been to! We really appreciated the annotated map at the start of our stay and the personalised recommendations. The room was spacious and clean and the communal area with milk, tea, coffee, juice and some breakfast items (and a fridge to store anything you’d like) was so useful. We loved Florence so will be back and would recommend this hotel to anyone!
- S7872SPnicholasb (10/5): Historic, centrally located guest rooms. - Excellent. Small, intimate, full of character and in keeping with the historic nature of Florence. Quiet but centrally located neighbourhood. Attentive management instantly available at the end of a text message. Young hoteliers focused on delivering the best service to their clients. Congratulations. Our experience is first class was first class.
- 717elianab (10/5): Beautifully decorated hotel with personalised service - A beautifully decorated hotel that has excellent air conditioning, a lovely lounge with snacks - and best of all - hosts who care and try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The recommendations really helped shape a lovely break and making restaurant reservations was a saving grace. Quiet, comfortable and charming.
- KaraGuagliardo (10/5): Wonderful Hosts! - The hosts were flexible, kind and so helpful! They seemed truly happy to have us stay in their guest home and we felt their hospitality throughout the entire stay. Cannot recommend this place enough!!
- lukabem (10/5): A Tuscan dream! - This is now where I will stay if I ever return to Florence. A truly beautiful boutique hotel with the most lovely hosts you will ever come across - Alessia and Daniel. Alessia made check in an ease, confirming when I would arrive so she could meet me at the door! She sat down with me and asked what I was interested in doing in Florence so she could make recommendations and she and Daniel even recommended beautiful restaurants!! There are only a few rooms at the hotel so it truly feels bespoke. It is decorated beautifully, complete Tuscan style and is in a fantastic location being only a short walk to the Academie gallery and the Duomo. Thank you Alessia and Daniel!
- alohachoy (6/5): Disappointing Experience - A little bit farther than I expected but otherwise OK. Loved the ambiance of the old building! The stay started out good. Our host Alessia was very welcoming, giving us her cell number in case we had questions and showing us our room and the AC remote. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. Our AC didn’t work and we had a very hot sweaty night. When Alessia finally answered our texts the following day, she blamed it on the Italian law stating that AC wouldn’t work unless it was a minimum degrees outside. According to Google, this law is only for public buildings and schools, not hotels, and since every other hotel on our itinerary had AC, we were not happy with her excuse. Why go to the bother of showing us the remote, if she knew we wouldn’t be able to use it as it was supposedly not hot enough yet? Upon checkout, no one could be found to pay our hotel tax, and we waited for over 15 minutes while the maid frantically called for our host to come. When some man finally showed up, he was extremely rude to us and we had to run, barely catching our train. Sorry to say, would not stay here again.
- Julieseven (10/5): Perfect accommodation for a visit to Florence - Absolutely perfect! Upon our arrival, our host Alessia spent 30 minutes explaining the sites of Florence and giving us valuable secret tips for where to eat well. The room was very comfortable and cosy, a real home away from home. Because of Covid, the B&B isn't allowed to offer regular breakfast since they have one big table in the dining room. However, there are a lot of snacks freely available for the guests at all times, including Cantucci and Wine.
Thanks to the house being a bit further from the centre, we slept like babies, no disturbing street noise anywhere. In just 15min walking time, we got to the city centre, though. All in all, I can highly recommend the Antica Dimora, and should I return to Florence, I'll definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The experience at this hotel is great! We enjoyed staying at this hotel. Alessia was very helpful and she was a great host. The room represents the Tuscan style. I highly recommend this hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It felt like home away from home except actually living in a historical building!
The staff were friendly and helpful.
I would definitely recommend this place.
- BoardingPass272540 (10/5): The room was very charming and very clean. I loved the antiquity of the building and having to use a skeleton key. - Our hostess was more than hospitable and very helpful in guiding us through Florence with explaining the map to us. Very clean place and cozy living room with beverages and snacks always accessible. The location was excellent within walking distance to most of the sites to see, I.e. The Duomo, which is a must see.
- Denise (10/5): Florence love - This little spot is in a perfect location. It gives you such a local feel. Quaint rooms, ckean and the staff is very very accomadating. We loved our stay.
- henrit75007 (10/5): Excellent - Thank you antica dimora,
I Never had a better visit than here.
Everything was perfect,
We were in wedding trip, and it's the best place to be.
Calm and fresh room, perfect bed, good breakfast.
a lot of free complimentary snack coffee etc...
staff is very helpful and polite, speak English and even a little bit in french.
We passed lovely days in that p(a)lace !
we advise you book it soon !
- camillaj945 (10/5): Lovely hotel! - Lovely, small hotel with beautifully decorated rooms! Really charming and full of character. Nice breakfast, free coffee in the lobby. Helpful and welcoming staff. Within walking distance to all sights. Would definitely return!
- ROBERT (10/5): 5 star room for a 3 star price - This property was a diamond in the rough (for the price)
Awesome staff.
Great bed, great shower, very clean. Great price. Location is good to great depending on where you want to be. It was about an 8 min walk to the Duomo, 20 minutes to Uffizzi.
Breakfast was significantly better than the other places we stayed on our trip (Rome, Naples Florence, and Lucerne).
I would return there on every visit.
- hyker1 (10/5): Fabulous, historical place! - First contacts sometimes "make" a place. We had arrived at the address, gotten out of the cab, and were busily unloading our bags, when Piero very sweetly stepped off the curb and came over to shake my hand and welcome all of us to Florence! What a wonderful way to make a guest feel special! Curbside hospitality!
And the ROOMS! First of all, the building dates from the 14th century. There are incredible staircases and old wooden beams all over the place. The keys are literally skeleton keys and they jingle! Our room was gorgeous! We had a big window with a step to reach it. Then, there was a step up into a very spacious bathroom. We were all in love with Florence just in seeing our rooms! Coffee and tea is provided, along with biscuits for dipping.
Breakfast started a bit later, at around 8-8:30am. Traditional continental breakfast. I really loved the whole-grain croissants. They were delicious, along with local jams. There were tarts, toast, hard-boiled eggs, and cereals. It was simple fare, but served in a lovely gathering room, where one could meet people from all over the world. I'll also add that there is ALWAYS something yummy sitting out for guests to snack on. Peanuts, tarts, liqueurs, you name it.
This little gem is situated not far at all from the Duomo and Academia. People can walk most places to get from place to place. We had one person in our party with mobility issues, so Piero called a cab for us to get to the Uffizi. Piero was also kind enough to get us tix to the Academia to see Michelangelo's David. However, the Uffizi Gallery was my favorite experience. The views over the city from the gallery's windows were just as spectacular as some of the art.
I HIGHLY recommend Antica Dimora Firenze. It's a lovely, historic retreat that's fanciful and a real haven in a phenomenal Italian city.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable, I will go back and will recommend to friends.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was a very lovely place to stay--beautiful rooms in a wonderful location. But we stayed during a heat wave and the A/C only sort of worked. It was hot!
- Matthew (8/5): Nice room, good location, avoid late check in - Hotel was nice and staff were pleasant. Dissapointed to have to pay an additional €25 for checking in after 9:30pm purely because our flight was delayed.
- Indian2009 (8/5): Boutique B&B - This is a boutique B&B which is decorated in Florentine style...four b poster beds, drapes etc. You have to like this style to like this place :-) Place does exhibit character but people used to modern hotel may not like t. People looking for a local touch will love it. Reception is manned from around 0830 to 1230 in th enoon. The staff will acccomodate your requestes for late check in till around 7 pm after which there is a charge. We found the B&B to be very clean. Decently located-more cenral locations can be found though. They must light up the area after you enter the building (the staircase area) and also the place when the lift opens (2nd floor). We were there for 3 niughts and for the first 2 days we used to leave on day tours early in th emorning, h return used to be at around 10 pm so we didnt see any other guests, though the place was supposed to be full. On the last day of our stay we were able to interact with other guests over BF (rest of the days, the team was kind enough to place sme breakfast items in our room as we left before breakfast time of 8/30 or 8/00 am). Lobby/Breakfast area is nice and full of character. Some rooms have balconies I think. We had a good stay. Piero the receptionstaff was helfful. Made half boiled eggs and coffee for us. :-)
- ASuerobinson (10/5): Great b and b - Wonderful friedly helpful staff and the buffet breakfast was perfect there was an honor bar, coffee macine and nuts available all day and the view from the lovely rooftop garden was the final touch to a perfect day
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean
Very good breakfast
People are very nice
Very good location - easy walk to all the famous place
- Karen (8/5): - Lovely, charming stay. Very friendly, helpful staff.
- Rachel (10/5): - I had a lovely time staying here during my trip to Florence visiting my daughter. As a single woman traveling alone I felt very safe and comfortable here. The accommodations were lovely. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best Europe Vacation - I had a great time in Florence. The staff were extremely accommodating. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence!!!
- TravelGal816 (10/5): Lovely Stay - So happy with our stay at Antica Dimora Firenze, I was in Florence for two weeks and half of my stay was at Antica Dimora Firenze, for the price, the customer service, the comfort...I am in the travel business and I really appreciated Michela and
Giovanna's going on and above to make me and my group feel welcomed.
- WeAreBack (6/5): Ok but disappointing - The hotel is OK but it is getting tired and is in need of some renovation. The beds were extremely hard. The A/C worked but dripped huge pools of water (not to mention the annoying dripping sound). The room and bath were clean but well used. It was just overall dreary. On the plus side, the location is good - a reasonable walk to the duomo, etc. The man who checked us in also gave us great restaurant recommendations. We wouldn't stay here again unless nothing else was available.
- ell229 (8/5): Very good location and friendly reception. - Each room was different which gave it an eclectic flair. Small, cozy, and clean- it was an integral part of the neighborhood and felt authentically Florentine. The guests were treated with trust and keys as receptionist was not there full time. It felt a bit like visiting relatives.
- Nytoronto (8/5): - A bit far from river..20 minute walk or so but clean location. Dark in hallways at night—no light in stairway. On second floor..can take stairs or use small elevator. Reception only available from 8:30am-12:30pm. Heard someone buzzing at 4am trying to get into building on first night which was a bit annoying. Breakfast was good..only 6 rooms so fairly quiet. It’s more like a bed and breakfast. Decent pricing compared to other hotels in Florence. Air conditioning good but WiFi in room 3 was terrible and only worked in bathroom. I would give this place 3.5/5 stars.
- Z (6/5): - Our stay here in Florence was a beautiful experience. It was quite hot while we were there which was not so good. The hotel was easy to find, fairly close to the sights, restaurants, etc. Our check in was great, breakfast was beautiful, and the rooms were nice. Unfortunately, our air conditioner was broken and we suffered through a couple nights of warm temps. We were given a fan but it still was warm. They did fix it for the last night so that was good. The internet was a disaster. It basically did not work in our rooms or in the reception area. We were on tours and sight seeing each day but without internet it made planning quite difficult.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good location. Breakfast not good. Cereal terrible not enough fresh fruit. I wouldn’t go back. I have stayed at many b&b in the past that were much nicer
- Lisa (10/5): Cozy - Very nice place to stay. Make sure you check in by 7 pm as it’s a bed and breakfast and you can not check in later without additional fees. I lost a night I paid for because I did not get in from where I was visiting until very early in the morning due to difficulties with train travel.
- Fred (10/5): Great staff and good location - The location is in a quieter neighborhood but within walking distance to all the major attractions. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating with our delayed departure after check out. It made our visit to Florence very enjoyable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was the third time we have stayed here. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is wonderful and very accommodating and the location is walking distance to most everything. Enjoyed our stay ... like always!!!
- David (10/5): Great place for a couple to stay in Florence - Our stay here was very good, the owners were very welcoming. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a good nights sleep.
I didn't see the elevator when we arrived, and needlessly carried the baggage up 2 flights of stairs.
There are several restaurants in the area that are really fantastic within a block or 2 of the hotel.
- SuzyQ (10/5): Welcoming - The hotel was very warm and welcoming as were the staff. It was small and quaint. In a quiet district but within easy walking distance of the centre and main attractions.
- Tony and Nancy (10/5): Central Florence, accessible to all the sites, tran - Excellent accommodation with very helpful staff. Met wonderful fellow travelers
- david (10/5): Excellent staff could not be more helpfu - My wife travelled out before me due to a ticket problem causing me to fly out next day
- jule (8/5): Kitschy & Cool - We enjoyed being in Firenze just off the beaten track! Close enough and great neighborhood. Beautiful room and a nice big bathtub for a long soak at the end of the many miles we walked through Firenze! Lovely breakfast as well! My only suggestion is to supply a small sachet of bathing salts for a nice soak. They are non-existent anywhere in town. Grazie!
- Lisa (8/5): Great B&B close to city center - Staff was super friendly and spoke perfect English. Breakfast was awesome and cappuccino was made to order every morning! Just shy of centrally located, but nice because you aren't constantly surrounded by tourists- quick walk to city center. Only downside was that the wifi was a hit or miss in our room.
- Suzanne (8/5): Charm, and location, trumps all! - This hotel, in the heart of Florence, embodies charm. It is in easy walking distance of all of the major attractions as well as the bus stop. No end of choices surround you for eating and shopping. Be sure to go to the market for lunch! Rooms are on an upper floor, but there is a lift. The lobby/dining room is small but beautiful and comfortable. We often sat in the evening and relaxed. There were always treats left out on the sideboard. Breakfast was really good. Our room had a drawback: hot in the middle of summer. Airconditioning was inadequate to even cool down the room, and it is too noisy on the front-facing street to leave the windows open. By closing the shutters during the day we were able to keep the cool in, then open them for a few hours before we went to bed. They kept the noise out during the night. This is such a small complaint compared to all of the other lovely features - a pretty room, the lively feel of being in the center of Florence, the kindness of the staff. We drove in and our care was safely parked by a parking service until we needed it. I would not hesitate to stay again.
- Vincenzo (10/5): Best place in Florence - Wonderful location to all sites and Giovanna was great.
- Katherine (10/5): Quick, great stay - This bed and breakfast is classy, charming and well situated away from the mania of florence.Loved the room and the breakfast room/lounge. Breakfast was delightful.
- Jeff (10/5): A convenient, comfortable place, near everything. - The staff were very friendly and helpful. On our first day the gentleman took a city map, circled the popular sites and drew the walking route to get to each. The room was comfortable with a a nice bed, tourist guides in the bookcase, a nice, spacious shower and a mini-fridge in the closet. A nice continental breakfast was ready each morning. There were small snacks and beverages available after hours in the reception room to nosh on after a long day of touring the city..
- TSZ KA (10/5): Love to stay here very much!!! - The reception is very nice! The breakfast is very good as well!!! The house is very comfort and homie! Enjoy to stay here very much!!
- Fiona (10/5): A haven of elegance, civility and peace - Hidden behind a wooden door and up echoing stone steps, the Antica Dimora is a real sanctuary of sophistication and tranquility. On entry the shuffling mass of Florence's tourism is replaced with classical music, sofas the colour of claret, freely available tea, coffee and cake, and an honesty bar proffering Vin Santo and biscotti. Our double room was faultlessly beautiful, with an understated and tasteful charm. The four-poster bed was spacious and firm. The large windows ensured easy ventilation, and as they looked on to courtyards behind the main street it was possible to keep cool without traffic noise. The Florentine sun filtered gently in each morning, other guests were scarcely audible, and breakfast was wonderfully calm - a balanced continental buffet, with freshly filtered coffee, fruit juices, pastries, cereals, and a whole variety of breads, meats and cheeses. Sipping coffee and slowly awakening at a large shared table, with classical music drifting over us and a hushed, gentle atmosphere in which the hotel staff were carefully attentive but utterly non-intrusive, this was the perfect start to a day of sightseeing. We were able to walk to the duomo within 15 minutes, and yet we were sufficiently north of the major tourist centre to feel in touch with a more authentic Italy, and to be able to find a local trattoria for an evening meal - then a stroll down to the Arno before tea in our lovely room and restorative sleep.
- Clarke (10/5): Excellent accommodation in Florence - We picked Antica Dimora Firenze based on reviews on TripAdvisor and weren't disappointed.
The room was very well presented and clean, and we also had a small balcony overlooking the courtyard so could sit out and enjoy the (infrequent March) sun. The breakfast buffet was spot on, and returning home each day to vino santo and biscotti was a nice little treat.
All the staff we met were very friendly and extremely helpful.
And on top of this it's only 10 minutes' walk down to the Duomo (well, it was at our pace anyway!) so perfectly located for us - within walking distance of the sights but far enough away from the middle of the city to be nice and quiet.
Will happily return!
- Dimuthu (10/5): Warm, welcoming and cute - We arrived after the check in desk closed. I'd told the hotel this in advance, and had been given a mobile number to whatsapp. I did so, got a prompt response (in perfect English) and a couple of minutes after my wife and I arrive, a young lady and her boyfriend arrive on a moped, hop off, introduce themselves warmly and show us to our room. A great introduction to the character of the hotel, and of Florence in general.
The room was lovely, exactly as described on the website. And in a city where value is often hard to come by, I thought this place was a relative bargain.
The character of the hotel was lovely, breakfast was good, and the whole experience was just wonderful. I really enjoyed it. And would heartily recommend it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing - Great small hotel, its a bit far from center; around 15 min walk
- dan and jane ce (8/5): good location - Small with nice room and staff close to attractions.
- Craig (10/5): Fabulous Florence - Outstanding hotel in quiet part of Florence but walking distance to major cultural treasures of Florence.
- Jordan (6/5): Good stay - The hotel was nice and welcoming. The room was decorated nicely and clean. We had only stayed here for one night when we were upgraded to the Antica Dimora Johlea because we were the only ones at the Firenze. The Johlea was much nicer with a beautiful roof top terrace and free cappuccinos, coffees, ETC. Our room size was about the same at both places and are only a block or two down from each other as well. Both are nice, quaint hotels I would go back to.
- Jane (10/5): Excellent stay in Florence - Very comfortable stay and helpful and friendly staff. There is a lift which is a bonus so no need to carry luggage up many stairs. Location is good, it's slightly further away than other options closer to tourist attractions but the walk is nice and you see more of Florence. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone.
- Larisa (10/5): very cute! - great location and adorable boutique-style hotel. lots of atmosphere and very homey-feeling.
recommend you check with them in advance about what time you are arriving, because they are only at the front desk during certain hours (i think until noon) and it was difficult for us, traveling without a cell phone to be able to call them, to work this out at the last minute!
- Sarah (10/5): Fabulous Italian hospitality! - Absolutely fabulous hospitality!! 15-20 minute walk to the train station and 10 minutes to the central market, which has justly leather goods and scarfs but is nice for gifts. The hotel has a very lovely feel with a beautiful front room with beverages, snacks and an honesty bar of wine. The lady who manages it gave us so much help finding our way around not only the town of Firenze but the villages around it. We would Definitely stay here again!!!
- Teresa (10/5): Wonderful hotel! - We had a great time in Florence. The hotel was in a great location - easy to walk to local spots or to reach the bus line. The staff was wonderful! Very friendly and helpful. We needed to leave early one morning for a tour, and they provided us with a few things for breakfast the night before. Our room was wonderful - we really enjoyed the terrace and the extra room. Definitely the best hotel of our time in Italy!
- JoJo (8/5): Well located and pleasant - We were quite pleased with the hotel. Loved its location and found it quite comfortable. The view from the balcony was a bit disappointing, but overall we thought it was a good value.
- Peter (10/5): Great small hotel in Florence - We stayed 2 nights at the hotel. It was a very typical Italian small hotel immaculate throughout.
An easy 10 minute stroll to the centre which we liked as a very quiet location, but bars and cafés near.
We will definitely stay again, and would recommend this hotel.
All staff very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great place and excellent service - The hotel was great and the service was even better. I recommend
- charlie (10/5): antica dimora firenze - The hotel was excellent for both comfort and service, good continental breakfast, and also within easy walking distance of major sights
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not what we expected... - It's like a hostel rather than a hotel, not easy to find as hotel name is not explicitly showed. The building is under construction, can hear drilling sound starting from 7 or 8am. Not much to provide in breakfast, only cheese, ham, coffee, cake. The room is so-so. Staff only around in the morning, a couple hrs in the evening or upon requests. Take 20 to 25 mins to walk from train station, a bit tiring if carrying lots of luggage. Honestly won't recommend anyone to stay here.
