Guest Reviews
- Kelsie (6/5): - The grocery store was across the road and transit was fantastic in the area. But the room itself had mold.
- Sylvie (10/5): - Top
- Ciaran (2/5): - AVOID, nothing was right with this hotel. It’s dirty and unsafe. The bathrooms floods and is mouldy. the fridge does not work. The wall and floors are filthy, the mattress is disgusting. The towel was stained. Are electric in the bathroom was not working and we then told them. They only fixed it the next night so was unable to use the shower till then.(which was the night before we left). The hall was ceiling was flooring down and there was wires hanging out of light fittings.
It was awful. On return. I have asked for a refund which I am told no. I don’t no why I use Expedia when they take no responsibility for advertising hotel not safe nor fit for purpose.
Hall peu accueillant. Petit lavabo dans chambre.Literie propre et confortable.
Hotel bon juste pour 1 ou 2 nuits.
- Vasily (8/5): - Perus. Melko likainen.
Iso + keskustan läheisyys
- Ronald (6/5): Max hotel 3 day stay. - Convenient location especially for public transport system. Nice neighborhood with convenient grocery store across the street.
- Dennis (6/5): - We stayed 2 nights, very small room/bath room. No elevator. Steep stairs, reception counter close at 8pm and open at 10am only.
- Tracey (6/5): Good hotel for twin rooms - Basic hotel, rooms were small but clean, no where to store luggage,
- Maria Fernanda (10/5): - Es linda y cuenta con baño propio
- Verified traveler (2/5): Broken and little. - The space was really restricted. The window was broken and a cold wind entered all night.
- Robert Reuel Grandison Finney (6/5): - Washroom was very dirty with visible dark grimes all over the place
Bed area was dusty
- sohail (2/5): - 4 different peoples hair on pillow and in bed, had to line the bed and pillow with towels, couldn't use toilet as theres no room too sit or stoop, water in shower hardly came out, terrible experience, poo on wall next to bed topped it off
- Paul (10/5): - Prima hotel in de Pijp.
We werden erg vriendelijk ontvangen.
- Ono (6/5): - deposit will cost 150euro and not yet get returned 5 days later...
- Richard A (8/5): Nice Amsterdam hotel - Really friendly staff and mega comfortable bed.
Very clean and functional.
Be aware of the €100 euro room deposit you have to pay on card at the property (it is promptly returned on check out)
- Samuele (8/5): - Buono e pulito
- Kody (10/5): - Good and very convenient location
- Aakash (2/5): - This is not a hotel. It’s something that you get to have a roommate. They took a regular room and literally put a wall in between and split it into 2.
- Mircea (2/5): - Horrible experience there was no one at the hotel when we arrived to give us a key for us to check in. The staff treat customers poorly especialy Mada. Will never stay again!!! Would not recommend to anyone.
- Mircea (2/5): - Did not like
- Sanaz (2/5): - Well, the room was not what we requested. And please note, the room was not clean!!!! There were stains on the bed covers, the shower is just disgusting with black mold on the ceiling and the room was so small. This is one step above a hostel. Don’t expect much. Oh and we didn’t do anything to the room, but got an additional charge of $111 and I reached out to the reception to see why, because we never got any info or receipt from this charge, and they never responded.
- Rayyan Hariz Bin (10/5): - perfect for a short stay
- Andrea (2/5): - Very poor room inside, 15 cm between bed and wall (only by one side), no place to leave your properties in the night (mobile, bottle of water, book, etc.), room made up only after the first night. Staff mostly absent, even at 9:00pm for check out. Shower mixer not working, (from frozen to boiling, never right temperature)
- Diego Alberto (2/5): - NO TE DEVUELVEN EL DEPÓSITO DE 100 EUR QUE TE PIDEN AL ENTRAR APARTE DEL COBRO DE LA HABITAIGOB, PJO
- Alessio (2/5): - Terribile , non lo consiglio a nessuno. Tutto male
- Finlay (10/5): - Zimmer war klein aber bietet alles was man braucht. Sauberer und gemütlicher als ich erwartete. Würde nochmal da gehen.
- Hein (10/5): - De ligging: zo centraal, én rustig.
- Harmony (10/5): - Loved the guy at the front desk! It is 21 so watch out for that but we checked in quickly with no issue.
- Neil (6/5): - Rooms are small but comfortable. Read some bad reviews before travelling but was not as other guests made out.
- Paola (6/5): - Good location
- Alicia (6/5): - Above average.
- Josh (2/5): - .
- Joseph (4/5): - Area is very good and easy to get about via tram. If you need water or food there is a Lidl across the road which is handy.
Check in was easy as we landed late and on the day they give you a code to some key safes by the door. Major downside for me was they charge you €150 deposit before you arrive which is very cheeky! I've never had this at any hotel I've ever stayed in and as we were on a budget as it was this cut into our spending money and I wish it was clearer before at the time of booking because I would have looked elsewhere. I will say I did get it refunded back to my card that evening I checked out so didn't have to wait long to get it back but even still that's taking the Mick. The room.was very small but that was fine for us and the toilet was inside the shower but again that was fine. It was very very hot in the room and you can barely open the window and no fan was provided which would have made our nights sleep more comfortable.
Overall I wouldn't stay again but the area is good and safe and the check in and out process was easy at least.
- Eyleen (10/5): - Alles super
- Mohammad Saleem (2/5): - ...
- Susan (2/5): - Terrible TV didn't work, Room was in the attic with no lift 5 flights of stairs to climb with luggage, window handle was broken couldn't open room was boiling hot air con machine was disgusting with dust/dirt couldn't use it 😞😞
- Susan (2/5): - Room was top floor No lift TV didn't work, handle on Window was broken, very basic.
- Django (10/5): Great Staff! - The staff was INCREDIBLE! They did a wonderful job at anticipating needs & answering questions.
- Ellie (4/5): - Smallest room with no air conditioning unlike advertised. Gave €150 deposit on check in and told would get €100 back, when checking out the staff were not going to give us this back until I asked. Can shower and poop at same time though so that’s fun
Freundliches Personal.
Leider nur Kartenzahlung möglich.
- Glyn (8/5): - The hotel is what it says on the tin nothing more nothing less great area convenient and cheap
- Maxime (8/5): - Everything fine
- Verified traveler (10/5): You pay for what you get. - The room was ok for a one night stop over. Basic facilities that worked.
- Liselotte (8/5): Hyggeligt lille hotel - God service, hjælpsom personale.
Perfekt placering, i rolig kvarter. Med gå afstand til centrum.
Vil helt sikkert kunne bookes igen
- Benedito Antonio (10/5): Great deal! - The hotel is well located and very cheap compared to other ones in the neighborhood. I totally recommend it!
- Marcos (10/5): - Excelent
- Kenji (2/5): - I never received my $150 deposit back after my stay. I was in contact with a hotel rep who assured me it would be returned but it’s been over a month and still no deposit.
- JAMIE (8/5): - Nice place for a few days decent room
- John (2/5): - What a horrible experience. The Hotel Max should be called the Hotel Bare Minimum. The clerk could barely speak English & had no interest in being helpful. Other than a poorly cleaned / maintained coffee machine there are no amenities whatsoever. There is no elevator & the stairs are small and steep. The double room literally barely fits the double bed & a tiny table with no chairs. There is zero storage for clothes or anything else. The lack of air conditioning would make it very uncomfortable above 27C. But the most bizarre & negative aspect to the room is the toilet being actually located in the shower. The shower head mount was old and hung the shower head uselessly. My request to have the shower head mount repaired was completely ignored. We terminated our stay after 1 night and absorbed the cost of the 2 additional nights to find another place to stay. We found the Catalonia and it was the best decision we have ever made.
- Brannen (2/5): - Not be able to check in as I did not have the ID they did not refund my money and allow me to stay. How can I get a refund?
- Daniel (8/5): - Has rhe essentials in a prime spot.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Extra 150€ warranty deposit of what we had no idea. Also paid 4 different payments. City taxes, early check-in (25€), warranty deposit and rest of The room pay. No idea why these werent able to paid at once.
Room was very small and narrow. Shower head was in so bad condition that water came out as one big stream. Low pressure as well so I wasnt able to put shower head on its Holder and I had to keep it on my hand.
- Cameron (10/5): - Great hotel for a weekend trip great location close to town
- Elisabeth (4/5): - :)
- CARINE (8/5): - Chambre trop petite
- Matthew (8/5): - The hotel was fine. Easy to find and check in staff were there when we arrived. Room was clean and had a fridge and check out was simple
- Jonathan (2/5): - You get what you pay for.
- Regula (6/5): - We were pleased with the help of Jesef. He heard our input and know he will do what he can.
- Anita (10/5): - Property abot away from centre but easily reached by tram, Muhammed on the reception very helpful with information about how to get places and recommendations where to eat. Stairs are steep room small but was clean ,quiet and warm. Would i stay again yes i would
- Alberto (4/5): - .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good hotel If you just want to sleep through the night. Nothing special and very simple, but Good choice If you don’t Need much.
Room was clean. Place was excellent.
- Justin (8/5): Hotel Max - Hotel Max was convenient, safe and clean. The staff was very friendly as well.
- Mirva (6/5): Ihan ok hotelli mutta... - Huone oli todella pieni. Sijainti hyvä. Portaita paljon ja todella ohuet seinät. Kuului jopa valokatkaisijan äänet toisesta huoneesta! Siivous toimi hyvin.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location, Ok Service - Location is a big plus. However service was not so great, wifi was not working for 2 out of 4 days of stay. On the last day room service forgot to leave any towels causing us some delays. Beside that stay was comfortable and subway/tram stop is right across
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Budget hotel in excellent location, clean and secure.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Location good, bed poor, Wi-Fi is crap, food is ok - We booked twin beds and discovered that beds are not normal single beds as they are daybed! which are narrower and couldn’t able to sit on a chair as it was hard folder chair, I booked thought saw the size of the room was advertised on the hotel.com was more bigger for me and my client that we agreed booked due of the room size actually the bedroom was like are a box room also toilet in the shower! Not comfortable for us basically. Breakfast is okay and poor information when arrival al as can’t hear at the doorbell. I all was told to that Hotel Max & was annoyed had to walk few more up the road to same company of the hotel so has to visit the sister hotel to give me the cards for access the room by going back - Wi-Fi is very poor and was unable for me to use it as it’s too risky for my devices so didn’t used them it was a cheat as it was a not proper Wi-Fi wasn’t impressed ( poor access to Wi-Fi & it is not safe to use) it’s easy for hackers to access that system - not impressed at that the hotel didn’t provide the kettle & cups at all, I was so disappointed with the hotel, apart of the poor in the hotel all I can say that location is good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location
Very welcoming staff
Rooms quite small as expected in central London
- TR (8/5): close but not too close - The hotel was close walking distance to many attractions of Amsterdam but far enough away that the evenings were quiet without the part atmosphere of downtown. Close to transportation good restaurants that were more reasonably priced than downtown and close to the street market for a little colour. We felt we had a good sense of the culture of Amsterdam staying here. My only concern was that the room was very small, but we only slept there.
- Trevor (6/5): Would not stay there again - We got to the hotel and discovered that we needed to check in at the Hotel Iris(4 mins walk). Matress was disgusting, the shower was great. The hotel Iris is the sister hotel and seems like a better choice.
- Mindy (2/5): - Location was great but that's about it!
- Brandon (6/5): Not bad I guess. - Not the best value, but that's probably typical for Amsterdam. The room was fine, and I had no problems, but checkin was inconvenient and the staff don't seem to know the city very well.
- Ross (4/5): Tiny room, great neighbourhood. - Room was absolutely tiny. Bathroom was so small the sink was situated outside of it. Builders woke us up every morning at approximately 8am using power tools and shouting right outside our window. However; fantastic neighbourhood, friendly, helpful staff, free Wi-Fi and reasonably priced.
- Georgie (8/5): Lovely - It was a great place to stay for a week over the festive holidays.
- James (10/5): Great budget hotel - Great hotel, pretty basic really, just a double bed and a wet room. Very friendly staff and was very Clean! No complaints at all, would definitely return to this hotel. Great hotel within walking distance of pretty much everything with good public transport as well.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very causy, but prectical! - Was good , but there was always some noise!
They charged me twice for the room by mistake and didn't refund until now..
- Sherry (4/5): Hotel Max - The room was very small. We had to walk to another hotel in the rain to check-in. No parking but it did have WiFi.
- Verified traveler (10/5): No frills of a room - Great place to sleep while enjoying the city. Rooms were small but bed was comfortable. Easy to navigate, lovely neighborhood, market outside, Heineken brewery down the street. Would stay there again.
- David (8/5): Good value in an interesting neighborhood - Comfortable basic hotel. The attic room had enough space for a family of four. Beds were clean and comfortable, if a bit narrow. Main downside of the room was a musty smell in the shower, which was clean in spite of this. Small garden but the sister hotel (Iris a few blocks away), where you can have a nice breakfast, had a really nice larger garden.
Location is a little distance from major attractions but this limits nearby tourist traps and crowds and gives a low key atmosphere. There are plenty of good dining options within 10 minutes and a nice park about 10 minutes away.
- amanda (8/5): Affordable, Comfortable & good location - My husband and I were in Amsterdam on a business trip. We booked the Hotel Max last minute affordably and we were not disappointed. Its not necessarily close to the station, but only about a 15-20 min walk away. It was right by De Pijp which has many great bars & restaurants. The girl at the front desk was very nice & helpful. The room was what you expect for $60 close to the center of Amsterdam. Small, just enough to fit in a full size bed, small closet for storage, sink w/ a mirror (a bit cramped but at least it had one) and a privet toilet & shower (which are hard to come by for that cheap in such a big/old city). All in all in was comfortable, affordable & in a good location. We would go back.
