Guest Reviews
- 217aldin_ (2/5): DISASTER !!! - Booked via Booking, none of the conditions written on the booking site were not met. Very dirty, smell was unbearable. Staff members were very rude. Stains on the mattress, toilette five stars dirty. We left hotel same day we checked in, but they did not want to refund our money, aka they stole it. Double price for the parking (on booking site 5€, on check in 10€).. They did not renovate rooms or hotel, it is a lie. Hotel menu in restaurant was very poor, and food was tasteless. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone if you want to have pleasant vacation.
- amirjabbari94 (2/5): life's too short to be spent in a place like this - I just had a stay at this hotel and the I regret it terribly. The air conditioner did not work and it was in the middle of the summer. The bathroom was so filthy you just cannot imagine. The staff did not feel happy answering your questions. The TV remote did not work and when I asked the staff about this they did not do anything. I still cannot forget the way the room stunk.
- pezhha (2/5): Very bad - The room were very cold and small. It is very difficult to find it.
The breakfast was absolutely poor.
The front desk officer cannot speak English, I think this hotel is so good for making the bad atmosphere for you!!!!
I was for 3 night on this hotel.
- RaminR127 (8/5): memorable - We were 3 nights in this hotel.
very kindly people.
good breakfast and Place.
comfortable rooms and 24/7 front desk.
good location in Fatih.
for the price that our spend was good but maybe it was not good for you.
- keivank (2/5): Awful , Terrible Never Come again - We were 3 nights in this hotel. Before, I read here about the hotel which is not good but the location is ok.
But I never suggest here to anyone. In the room one lamp is out of order and it was so dark. The refrigerator was empty , dirty and off! Then, we realized that all of the rooms are the same situation. Also there is no trash bin in room. The radiator was turned off and just sometimes turned it on by them, so it was cold at night.
Breakfast was terribleeee! Just one kind cheese, bread, tomato, cucumber, .. no sugar, milk, butter, fruits..
The plate was dirty, we showed it to waiter but he just said take another one!
Location is in aksaray but it is not near to the main street, metro and tramway.
- 694mahins (4/5): Just an OK stay, wouldn't repeat if I had the choice. - Rooms were small, and it wasn't very clean. Staff weren't very friendly or hospitable either, not to mention the shower railing broke off because it was simply taped/glued to the wall.
Wasn't very comfortable for sleep either.
Only good points about this place is the location, and the view from the restaurant of the sea.
Would only pick this place for a few nights sleep and nothing else.
Would have given a better review if the staff were helpful or hospitable, but nothing was seen apart from one cleaning lady who would occasionally smile and talk to us despite the language barrier.
- Abdul-KayumK (4/5): Cheap but not cheerful. Wouldn't stay more than 2 nights here.. - To start our experience of the hotel we paid just under £40 p/night. Got promised a double room with a crib for our 6 month old. But the room had no where convenient to place the crib. So we were given a triple room - same size room but with one double and a single bed and just enough walking space. Wife and baby got the double :)
Tips - if you choose to book here even after this review: We got the first floor so not much of a view. But when booking you can request the 5th or 6th floor East facing rooms to have some good views of the sea. The breakfast room is a rooftop (not open top) and views are decent.
And if you stay 7 nights they will arrange free airport transfers. But we didn't know about this and stayed 6 nights and I couldn't convince them to arrange just a single free transfer for our return to the airport, even whilst holding our baby! So be warned this place is budget.
Good:
1. The location! - walk north up Tiyatro Caddesi (quite steep uphill but manageable) for the tram stop Beyazit (Grand Bazaar is here too). This takes you straight to Sultanahmet stop for the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet mosque). The same tramline takes you to other important locations like Eminou for the Bosphorus cruise. Or you can walk it through the side roads for about 15 mins. Tricky foot paths if you have a pram like we did.
2. Probably the cheapest hotel you'll find. We booked one of two last rooms, a week before we wanted to fly out.
3. Couldn't complain about breakfast - No cereal. But there was plenty of white loaf bread, Turkey ham, some veg and little tubs of honey, jams, Nutella. And tea /coffee /juices.
4. There is a TV and beds were comfy enough.
That's it.. Now the bad :
1. They have barely any staff so the porter is the same guy that does the room cleaning. And but not much happens from our experience. Just tidies the beds and supposedly hoovers. I say supposedly because I found a hair pin in the bed and one on the floor that wasn't my wife's a day after we had already been there. Spoke to them at reception and they said they that's all that they do.
2. They don't clean the toilets during your stay (only for new guests) and expect guests to do it themselves. Their words when I quizzed them! And the toilet bowl we had was designed in such a way it was hard not to leave a bit of a mess. I'll leave it at that...
3. Bathroom was basic. The shower head fixture was loose so it wasn't easy to have a shower. And if you have a shower after 10am don't count on having hot water. Better showering early morning or evening. And nowhere to hang the towel as the rail was missing.
4. Because of the material of the hideous bed throws and curtains the room eventually started smelling like the inside of a car from the 80s.
5. The only English speaking staff is pretty much at reception. That's fine but don't expect them to sound like they care about your custom or customer service for that matter. This stay did make me realise not to be so tight on hotels now that I have a growing family.
- Miss_BB35 (8/5): Clean, cheap and good located - This hotel is in the heart of Istanbul, walking distance to main attractions also to public transport. Clean and basic rooms, modest breakfast unfortunately without fruits. What positively surprised us is that sound isolation is quite good comparing to other hotels we stayed in in the area.
- 319poojas (4/5): Very average - Grand Liza is an average hotel. I stayed here for 4 nights but Breakfast is damn poor..service like wifi and room service are also very poor..
This hotel is only good if u want to spend a nite at reasonable tariff..no issues of safety . Location is good .. 5mins slope to Grand bazaar.
- hosseinh181 (4/5): Completely Mistake - rooms was dirty, and you don't have a good cleaning service.
bathroom and the toilet was awful and terrible.
the reception Do not understand the meaning of respect.
breakfast place at the top floor was good but the breakfast service was terrible.
i think its better to try another hotel.
- Stelzerl (4/5): Bad bad bad - Dirty rooms, ugly for using and need to repaint and fix many details. Poor breakfast, every day same food. Never again.
STAY AWAY from this Hotel
Hotel is unserviced until he was builded, . People are friendly and usefull.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Regular hotel - Regular hotel and location , i dont think this hotel is 3 star, maybe 1!
- Asterixos (4/5): A bad choice - It is dark, ugly and not so convenient but if you just want a cheap place to sleep I guess it is ok.
Don't expect anything more than that though because even showering isn't much of a pleasure in that hotel.
It is clean but since it is in need of renovation it does feel dirty.
The view from the breakfast room is good but the breakfast itself is bad..especially the coffee.
- JaneTsvankina (2/5): Awful hotel - Dirty room, dirty sheets on the bed, very loud noise on the street all night, overall the worst hotel I stayed at in years. After one night packed my things and found another hotel. Never stay here and hopefully it will close at some point.
- saeide66 (6/5): an average hotel - Grand liza is an average hotel literally, good staff and clean room, but it has a very dark lobby ( or it seems to me like that because of black furniture) if you want to get to tram station in Laleli st you have to clime up a hill and get there, regardless this the location is fine.
