- ALEXIS (4/5): - First, I'd like to thank their front desk staff, very accommodating, friendly - great job! Had an airconditioning issue, where the fault lies on "load sharing" with other guests. According to their staff, the ACs of other guests must be set to cooling so that the ACs will work as it is. It's like the AC settings are chained-up. Perhaps it's a tolerable problem during summer when the guests are very likely using the ACs all in cooling mode. Just happened that we visited Florence during mid-to-end spring - kind of transitioning from breezy to warm days/nights.

- Jorge (10/5): Late night arrival, close to SMN train station - Late arrival into Florence via train so looked for a place to stay near SMN station. The B&B was abt a 5 mins walk. Self check in instructions were provided , all worked ! It was late so we were tired. Elevator is a bit old and small so if you have a lot of people or luggage it may take a few trips! Hostess was nice , did not have the optional breakfast option.

So I was very worried when I contact the host for this place regarding our possible late check-in after 9 PM, due to the delay of the train. But thank God! The host of this beautiful stay in Florence totally changed our impression on Italian people. When I contact the host about my late check-in, he offered detailed instructions with no additional charge at all, unlike the host in Milan. The room was clean and cozy, even though a little bit old. But after all, it’s an old building. So I can’t really complain.：）

It was only a 20 min walk to most of the attractions Florence has to offer so very convenient. It's walking distance to everything, and closest to the train station (which we loved for our travels!). Sam and Angela go above and beyond in their charming ways to make your stay a true gem. Our room was perfect for a place to slumber and shower, and the daily breakfast included had a lovely variety to choose from (coffee machine for espresso/latte/etc./fruits/yogurts/musli/meats/cheese/bread/jams/tea/pastries). This B&B has a true Italian feel which made us feel we were staying more at a friend's home <3 Some reviews state that this place was in a noisy area-true, you can hear the traffic more than probably most places; however, that did not effect us whatsoever because my hubby and I love white noise (and we put on a fan noise to drown anything out). We definitely recommend this place and would stay here again! Grazie!

- Thornton (8/5): Well-appointed, immaculate, convenient, friendly - This B&B is on the second floor of a building about ten minutes' walk from the train station. There is a tiny elevator, which is helpful when you are carrying bags. The building is on the corner of two main roads, so expect a little noise. The room was small but comfortable and very well furnished. We had our own bathroom en suite, which felt like a great luxury after 10 days of sharing. Some amenities: a mini-bar, safe, and hair dryer. Breakfast, available from 8 to 10, was a typical Tuscan menu of ham, cheese, bread, pastries, fruit, and coffee or tea. The hosts offer cappuccino or espresso as well. Negatives: - The road noise, mentioned above. Bring earplugs. - We found the room stuffy. There probably was some ventilation, but we could not figure it out and were staying only one night so didn't get a chance to ask. Definitely something to ask about if your visit is in the summer. - One of the people manning the desk was fluent in English, but the other, who was there for most of our stay, had little English. He was friendly and tried to be helpful, but asking anything complex was difficult with our extremely limited Italian. Aside from these small drawbacks (maybe more about us than them?), this was a very nice place to stay and quite reasonably priced.

Was also quiet at night and room was dark for good sleeping. Breakfast was good and typical Italian. They offer to make guests cappuccino or expresso too. Giorgio very nice manager. Only couple small things which were not 100% for us was we could not find any English TV stations out of many offered. Lastly, shower pulsed water which made taking showers little less than comfortable. All in all would stay here again.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - This B & B was perfect for our stay in Florence . We wanted to be able to walk from the bus station with our luggage and be able to walk to the sights in Florence. The owner and staff are joy to work with and talk with about the area. It is really cute inside! We stayed in the smallest room for just two nights. It is very nice but would be too small for a longer stay. We had to catch a taxi to the airport at 3:45 A.M. and they booked that for us and got up to make sure all was good when we left!

Breakfast was okay, nothing too spectacular - good cappuccino though. It is a bit of a walk to get to the city center, but it's very close to the train station. Service was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here.

The hotel was on the wrong side of the tracks to be convenient to the sites, and for us it was a little bit scary to walk at night from the train station to the hotel. It was ok in the morning. It was difficult to get luggage up to the lift, and the foyer was poorly lit.

- Marsha (6/5): - The b and b was very clean, the people were outstanding, the room was adequate, the bathroom was roomy and the breakfast was typical for Italy. The location was perfect as you were near the train station and in less than 15 minutes you could walk to the heart of Florence. The major issue was the air conditioning. The room could not be cooled sufficiently. I used a sheet for a bed cover and even that was too warm. There was no way to turn the AC to high for any length of time-it was on a timer and would go from high to low in just a few minutes. I do not recommend this location during the summer months.

- Edmundo (8/5): Nice place in Florence! - My wife and I traveled by train from Venice to Florence to spent a couple of nights before going back to Rome. This place is a great and quiet place and of course it's a perfect choice if you're looking to save money. It's located 10 minutes walk to Santa Maria Novella Train Station. Comfortable bed, with A/C, nice bathroom and amazing Italian breakfast, make sure to have a cappuccino while you are there . It's one of these places where you feel part of the family. I will definitely be back next time I visit Florence.

- Herve (2/5): No way this can be a 9.1 Hotels.com rating! - On the basis of the rating that appeared in Hotels.com and the advertised price, we booked three rooms for the night of August 5, 2016 for ourselves and two other couples. We were very disappointed by the fact that none of our rooms look remotely the way they appear on the website. Having traveled a lot, we know what to expect from a rating of 9.1. The rating of this B&B is grossly overestimated. It is not worth a rating of 8.0 and these rooms are certainly not worth the Euro 100 we were charged for each. To provide you with a comparison of pricing and quality, I would suggest you check the Porta Fenza Hotel (Hotels.com rating of 8.6 for a night at Euro 80), which offers much better amenities, room spaciousness and overall quality. The B&B Il Marzocco had very poor air conditioning, worn-out furniture, small beds and most unfortunately, one single staff who works only part time at the B&B and did not speak english... I wish I had taken pictures so as to show the contrast with what has been (obviously) erroneously posted! I would suggest Hotels.com reviews this facility. Also note that this B&B is located on the second floor of a very busy street in a much less inviting section of Florence than the cheaper and much better Porta Fenza hotel.

The staff was incredible and extremely friendly and genuine. Loved every bit of it, especially the shower that felt as if you were under a waterfall. Highly recommended.

- eric (10/5): Wonderful B&B - Simply comfortable, tasteful and welcoming. Breakfast room is charming, bright and with a balcony. Breakfast was great with a real (not machine) cappuchino served by the host. The room is crisp, comfortable and has high ceilings. Bathroom is very up to date with quality tile work and fixtures. The whole place is tastefully updated; nothing plastic!!! The staff -- the front desk and maid are professional and very personable. Stay here, you'll sign the guest book with a smile, as we did; and will again when we are back in Firenze. Don't be fooled by the exterior of the building: very understated. Once you re off the elevator and at the reception you'll be very, very satisfied.
- neil (10/5): Fantastic Hotel - We had a really great time in Florence and this hotel made it for us.Really helpful, friendly, attentive and welcoming owners and staff.The hotel was spotless, the room was cleaned every day, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom had a lovely, shower had a rain shower head and the room was nice and quiet. We both slept really well. The breakfast was lovely with a great variety of food and dinks,and cappuccinos made to order, piping hot. I would not hesitate to stay here again and will definitely recommend to all our family and friends.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and kindly printed off a boarding pass for our flight. Many thanks! They served a wonderful breakfast with excellent coffee, fresh fruit, pastry, eggs, toast, yogurt etc. We were very pleased with this accommodation.

- Terry (8/5): Nice hotel handy to transport. - We stayed only one night. This hotel was chosen due to its location to the train station. It's only a couple of hundred metres away. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast room and breakfast itself was fine.

First, Massimo and Emo are very warm, helpful and extremely accommodating to guests. They are ever ready to give you advise abt your trip and help you w absolutely anything! Breakfast is curated very well (not the usual barrage of cold cuts and cheese that have no taste). The place is a few blocks from the train station which is perfect to get away from the noise and busyness of the main thoroughfare. Our room was comfortable, bathroom is very clean and overall, interiors are new and well maintained. The B&B used to be a palace so there are beautiful details everywhere. We love this place and for sure we'll be back!

- Roy (4/5): Bed and Breakfast that meets bare minimum - Despite excellent reviews from other travelers on this Bed and Breakfast, we actually found it disappointing. First, the maintenance of the property is problematic. The shower head cannot be securely hung on the wall of the shower. It kept falling to the ground, and it was hard to bend down to retrieve it because the shower area was so small. Another issue we had was with the toilet. The toilet seat was loosen, so we had to be careful seating on it because the seat would slide from time to time. Both issues were reported to the BB operator but were not fixed. Second, the BB had very limited service, and there was no one to help you when you need. We had to check out early in a morning in order to catch a train. We tried to look for someone two night before between 8pm and 11:30pm and early in the morning (6 - 7:15 am) on our departure date, but of course no one was at the reception desk to check us out. We almost missed our train because of that. Third, the BB didn't have sufficient heat and was quite cold at the time of our travel (March). We were cold most of the time staying there, and it was not pleasant.

- Yulian (10/5): Just perfect - I don't usually write reviews. But this hotel really exceeds my and my wife's expectations. Convenient location in the center of Rome - we never used ANY public transportation by seeing almost everything in Rome, state of the art heater/AC/door bell/do not disturb functionality - all in one control panel and works great, uninterrupted hot water all day long, room cleanness, big rooms - very unusual for Rome accomodation, 2 banks of elevators, terrace - never used because of winter, very rich 6:30-11AM all you can eat breakfasts - saved us about $40/day, free WIFI in the lobby, gym, very polite personnel, and most importantly - quietness in the room by thick walls and euro-style windows - made us feel we were the only people staying there. One thing to note is a small 22-inch LCD TV, but we didn't come to Rome to watch it. In the whole - Hotel Dei Mellini significantly stands out from all other hotels in its class in Rome and the whole Europe - we travel a lot there lately. All in all, we are very happy we stayed in Hotel Dei Mellini, and recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to feel a comfortable stay in Rome
- Annette (8/5): Two night stay in Florence - This hotel is located near the train station, maybe two blocks away. It's walking distance to the center of Florence. The owners were very helpful and gave us great suggestions for sightseeings and places to eat that are non-touristy. The walk to the center of Florence is maybe 15-20 minutes, but there's shops and restaurants to visit along the way. It was nice that they offered a breakfast, but there could have been a bit more. Regardless, I would certainly stay here again.

The location near the train station was perfect for all my conference activities, and within walking distance to all sights in Florence. The room was small but with nice amenities like kettle, tea, coffee, TV. Wifi was intermittent. Definitely worth the reasonable price and more charming than a hotel.

- Kang (8/5): Very Good B&B in handy location - Stayed 2 nights at start of 2 week visit to Italy. Handy location to old city, train station, and to excellent restaurants across Arno and near the river. Located on busy intersection during the day, but quietens down at night. It is much calmer than staying in the core. Double room is a reasonable size. The staff's spoken English is limited, but we could make ourselves understood without a problem.

He help us a lot in showing us where to go, eat and shop. Just his service and hospitality made our experience a 5/5. Breakfast is provided daily and he offers to make us coffee (cappuccino/latte). We felt very safe at his B&B. The location is very convenient from Firenze Santa Maria Novella (Florence Central Train Station). It is about an 8 minute walk from the train station, which was really important for us. We used Florence as our base as we made day trips to Pisa and Siena, so staying at a place close to the train station was ideal. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. -Eric
