Guest Reviews
- Stef (6/5): Alles was man braucht - Das B&B Hotell ist unscheinbar aber ganz nett. Sehr freundliches Personal.
- R (10/5): Schöne Unterkunft in Giudecca!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Basic minimum. Clean beds ok but food poor. - Food packaged and a lot of baked stuff. No functioning fridge. Shower leaked.
Mildew around shower fittings. Everything rather tacky.
- Dawn (8/5): Nice spot away from the craziness! - Nice to stay away from the center of Venice and was an easy boat ride away. Nothing fancy but very adequate.
- morriss003 (8/5): It Will Grow on You - When you stay at a B&B, you are staying in someone's home, and you can never forget that. They always have more restrictive atmospheres than hotels. That said, the longer I stayed at Ca' Isabella, the more I liked it. It has the kind of plumbing that is unique to Venice, and it takes some getting used to, but it makes up for that by having an excellent location. It is not located on the main islands, it is on the island of Guidecca, just south of Venice proper. Because of that, it does not have the hoards of tourists roaming the sidewalks and alleys. Guidecca is more relaxed and comfortable. Hotel doesn't have a lift (elevator), and the rooms are not on the lower floors. They served a full breakfast every day, including meat. The people are pleasant, especially the older woman. The beds were comfortable. There is a public laundromat two bridges away, beyond the Palanca waterbus landing. Look for a "T" sign over a shop. That is a tobaccoist (cigarettes), and they sell waterbus tickets, each good for a set amount of time. We bought one-way tickets to get to the hotel 7.5euros each, two-day tickets for 30euros each, and one-way tickets to return to the train station.
From Palanca pier, take waterbus 2 to get across the lagoon quickly, or waterbus 4.1 to take a slower route to one of the San Marco piers. Make sure waterbus 2 is going in the direction you want. The list of stops and the direction is posted in every pier, but some piers have separate waiting covers.
- Steve (8/5): Basic, but all you need - Wonderful location, our room didn't have a view but when you visit Venice you don't stay in your room! Breakfast was amply provided and owners were very friendly, they let us keep our luggage there until we were ready to leave Venice in the evening of our last day.
- scott (4/5): Make sure you bring cash - Room was ok. Owner was less than helpful. Not informative. Left us stranded on the island. Would not take a credit card or American cash.
- Dejun (6/5): Good price for a hotel in Venice - It is not easy to find the entrance of the hotel, especially during the night. I missed the door twice. The people there are very nice. Very good breakfast. It is a little code during the midnight though. DO remember to bring a converter if you are traveling from outside of Europe.
- Verified traveler (8/5): nice and convenient - Ca'Isabella is well located, a very short walk from the waterbus stop. While the bathroom was tiny and the mattress so-so, overall it was a great place to stay. The hosts are very nice.
- karen (8/5): The location is superb - Excellent location on waters edge, easy access to water bus and all stops.
Excellent value for position but remember it is a b & b and therefore like someone's home. Perfect for our one night stay, friendly people and very comfortable bed. We had quadruple room and had views, not sure what views other rooms would have
- MaryT (10/5): Beautiful situation on Giudecca - Ours was just an overnight stay to be at the airport by 9.30am but our hostess was so friendly and helpful and the bedroom so elegantly attractive and spacious with views over the Giudecca canal that we were sorry not to be staying longer. Our room was in the apartment above the owner's apartment and whilst our bathroom was not ensuite, it was for our use only (we were given a key). The other two bedrooms were ensuite. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, the bed very comfortable, and, unusually, a decent lamp for reading on each side of the bed!
The hostess told us the exact time we would need to leave in the morning, including the time of the vaporetto and the connecting bus to the airport. She volunteered to serve breakfast for us 15mins earlier than the set time
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent but across the canal - I wish I knew it was across the canal, sort of was a little bit inconvenient. The hotel was nice though, it was right on the water. The people working it were super nice. Standard tiny Italy bathroom and show but all in all it was a decent place.
- Karen (10/5): Great location away from the main tourist area - Really comfortable, clean and well located B and B with very helpful proprietors. Good breakfast. 35 steps up to the room might be a problem for some but is offset by a wonderful view out over the Giudecca canal. It was worth paying a little more per night to stay in Venice rather than having to negotiate a bus in from the mainland daily.
- Micki (8/5): Postcard view ! - Staying in Venice can be tricky if you have never been there. This apartment was such a great choice to wake up and have a breakfast with a panoramic view of Venice just 3 stops away to Piazza San Marco on bus service that runs 24/7. Room was clean with clean bathroom, bed was comfy and A/C and little fridge included ( pls, get better fridge - July is very hot ) ! You share dinning / lounge area overlooking Venice. Its a shame that they don't have A/C in dinning area. It should be there for the price. Breakfast was included but dissappointing ( coffee good but all other stuff was from supermarket prepackaged. If Anyone has food to offer, that is Italy and then this..Cheap. Wifi was included but should be running smooth in all rooms not just in dinning area. These days we all depend on internet and its just not enough putting cheapest consumer WiFi Router and call it Free WiFi included. Overall owners were nice, stay was pleasant. This was my 4th visit in 25 years and Venice is becoming too expensive for the quality of offerings. Eh, but the view...
- Jay (10/5): comfortable stay - Very nice bed and breakfast. Hotel is only 2 minutes from the waterbus stop. Owner is very helpful in suggesting where to go and which bus to take. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a room in a family home. They have converted the second floor to a hotel, and it is very nice. The room was clean. They served a large breakfast in a common room. Very hospitable.
- Marian (6/5): Pleasant hotel. - Good directions given from both the airport and the train station, very easy to follow.
However we were treated by a very pleasant lady who spoke no English which made it very difficult to explain that we were a party of three but the third person was not arriving till later on that night. When we went to pay the bill we also could not communicate what we wanted to do and had to wait till the owner returned at about 10pm.
Overall though a very pleasant stay and hotel was central enough to get around Venice easily.
- HR (2/5): Not a very welcoming place at all - My stay was very bad. The bathroom was dirty, the owners showed no warmth what so ever, no sense of welcome. For the first two nights I had no warm water, and had to shower in icy cold water. There was no canal view from our room:it overlooked dingy courtyard. You have to ride waterbus to get o Venice from Guidecca where the B&B was located. Waterbuses are very expensive, so that added at least 100 Euro (there were 3 of us for 3 days) that was not necessary to our cost. There was a restaurant/bar right below the property, people partied till wee hours, not quiet as described. I won't recommend this place.
- Dave (6/5): Decent experience overall - Our stay at the B and B was overall a good one. The location is quaint and nice as you are away from most of the hustle and bustle. There's a few shops and restaurants nearby and a nice hotel, the Hilton, nearby to visit.
The room was decent. Refrigerator was provided and everything was as described. Good if you are out and about all day. Beds were ok but not the most comfortable. View is gorgeous of the canal. Bathroom was decent. Only downside is you have to walk out into the hall and the key was hard to work to lock and unlock.
The wifi went out a few times, even with the owner's help. Communication was a bit awkward and unclear at times. The owners were friendly when asked for help.
Overall a good experience.
- Bob from Orlando (10/5): Dreamed Place... - This place is absolutely perfect for couples or family. Is just front and centered at the main canal. You can hear the music, you can see the cruise ships across your room and the hosts are amazing. If I would go back to Venice, which I hope, I will be back to Casa Bella. There is a Supermarket accross the canal where you can buy about everything, even cooked food and save $$.
- Olia (6/5): Beautiful view - I have mixed feelings about this b&b. Pluses are: beautiful view over the canal, good location (only 15 minutes to the Piazza San Marco), good size room, nice breakfast, but unfortunately there are minuses as well: as the weather was not warm, only plus 12-14 C, and it was raining all the time, the room became very cold and dump. Heating was not working and the hot water was barely hot. In the morning there were some problems with the boiler, so I had to take a cold shower. it was fixed by the time we checked out. Overall opinion about this place is OK, it needs to be modernized a bit (get new towels, sheets,pillows.., fix the boiler) and it will be a better place to stay, it has lots of potential, as there is a great demand on good quality B &B in Venice.Best of luck! P.S.Beautiful Hilton Hotel is just 1 minute walk away from Ca'Isabella, there on the 8th floor you can find sky view lounge area, where you can see beautiful view over the Venice. Check it out!
- Bill (8/5): - Up three floors have to carry your luggage Good location on waterbus route. Very clean good value. No sign you have to find using address we had no problems finding it. Great communication from b b giving details to location would use again grat for a stay before or after a cruise very very clean nice breakfeast
Marvellous sea view from the room (4 beds) & living room. Good breakfast, Kind staff. Good situation not far from shops, bars & supermarket and vaporetto.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Handy location. Stunning view - Lovely B&B on the island of Giudecca. Handy vaporetto stops with services to St Marc's Square. Great view of Venice across the canal to welcome you over breakfast. Free wifi was a bonus for the kids. It was a lovely place to stay and explore Venice for our family of four.
- Hope (10/5): Can not expect anything better:) - Enjoyed my stay very much! People here are very nice and I found everything I need here and the price is reasonable as well!
- Peili (8/5): Gut gelegene Privatunterkunft - Schöne private Unterkunft.
- Dominique (10/5): Warm welcome and great location. - We really enjoyed our stay in Ca Isabella.
We were very pleased with the warm welcome and all the useful information.
It was great to get breakfast early on the morning of departure.Great location and very helpful owners.
- Chris (10/5): Great location - This is simply the best B&B we've been to. The location was perfect, on the island of Giudecca just a few stops with the water bus to San Marco. Our room was big, quiet and clean. The staff was very helpful and gave us tips on how to get around and things to see.
- Gail (10/5): Great Experience - Good right from booking, email sent with details of how to get there. Friendly family home, but seperate areas for B & B guests. Owners helpful with information on area, transport and places to visit. Great place to stay away from the busy tourist spots. Waterbus easy to manage.
- David (10/5): A convenient B&B - A nice friendly family-run B&B, conveniently situated on Giudecca island. This is a quieter location, but only a few minutes walk from the waterbus. The owner explained on arrival about where to go and how to get there. Our room had a canal view, which we were not expecting, so that was a bonus! We even saw a cruise ship going past! The breakfast was fine, and you could take some things away to eat later if you wanted. We would be happy to stay there again.
- Kathy (8/5): Great for the price - We enjoyed our stay. I would recommend that they put their name on the doorbell.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Stay - Ca Isabella is a great little B&B!
Don't let its location deter you. It is right next to a water bus stop that is a 15 minute (or less) ride to San Marco Square and 2 minutes ride to the main island. Palanca (the water bus stop) is also a part of the night bus route, which runs pretty much 24 hours, so you will never be stuck on the main island(s).
Great breakfast and friendly people! I would love to return someday.
- Joshua (10/5): The Best B&B in Venice, We love it!!!! - Everything was like we expected, the place is great, clean and really nearby to the Cruise lines, also to San Marco Square. They have a great breakfast and was include, amazing view and they explain us all about the surroundings. We love the place, for sure i will back to their place.
