Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): - Riccardo was a fantastic host. His instructions were clear and provided great communication. He also gave us dinning and points of interest, all of which were great recommendations. I would absolutely stay with him again.
- Gerardo (10/5): - Our experience at La Luna Guesthouse was nothing short of extraordinary thanks to Riccardo. From the moment we arrived, Riccardo went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect.
Riccardo personally met us for check-in, giving us a warm welcome and a tour of the beautifully adorned and frescoed guesthouse. The guesthouse itself is a gem - conveniently located and within easy walking distance of Florence's most iconic attractions. We were just steps away from the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, and the Ponte Vecchio.
What truly sets La Luna apart is Riccardo's exceptional hospitality. He provided us with a wealth of recommendations for exploring the city. His suggestions for lesser-known trattorias and cafes were spot on!
Even after our stay, Riccardo's kindness and dedication really showed when we found ourselves stranded in Florence due to a transit strike. Without hesitation, he sprang into action, calling friends to find us alternative transportation and accommodation. He continued to check on us throughout our travels in Italy, demonstrating a level of care that went far beyond our expectations.
In all our travels, we've never encountered a host as attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in his guests' experiences as Riccardo. La Luna Guesthouse isn't just a place to stay; it's a home away from home, made exceptional by its outstanding host.
- Katherina (10/5): Wonderful - Our stay at La Luna guesthouse was amazing! The guesthouse really makes you feel like you’re in the city of art. With only a short walk to the centre, the space also had everything we needed. The owner was incredible and very helpful. Wonderful stay!!!
- Eugen (2/5): - without windows and the price 250 euros...poor performance
- Caitlin (10/5): - Riccardo was so hospitable and helpful. He gave us recommendations for sights and restaurants. Even a map to take with us. And he allowed us to store our luggage during they day after checkout. Felt safe and comfortable
- Michele (10/5): Amazing Stay - Absolutely beautiful space and perfectly clean. We wished we had been able to stay longer. Consider yourself lucky if you can get a room here; fantastic location and Ricardo was such a wonderful, knowledgeable host.
- David (2/5): Hotels.Com is unreliable & unresponsible. - You idiots FAILED to inform us that La LunaFguest house was (and had been for a month) CLOSED for renovation. We did not stay thete!! Hou will not get anything for this booking, because we couldn't stay there. Your support suks! You are complete bumbling idiots!
- Jake (8/5): - Riccardo, our host, was very helpful in making arrangements for our tours and making suggestions of sights to visit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Care taker Riccardo was very helpful. Location is OK. No lift but got assistance to shift luggage to 1st floor.
- Giacomina (10/5): La Luna - The room was comfortable and clean. The elevator was broken at the time but Ricardo, our host, carried our bags up and back down.
- Ayan (10/5): A five star BnB - The host who smilingly opened the door for us was excellent in his behaviour and cooperation. He explained every detail about how to go out and come back after dinner at late hours. The breakfast was ready the next morning, he smilingly carried our bags too. Also called a taxi for us when we were leaving.
- Julia (10/5): Nice guest house - Nice and cozy guest house a short walk from Old Town. Comfortable room, spacious enough for two people. Good continental breakfast (yogurt, cheese, sweets). Riccardo was the most wonderful and welcoming host, his advice on places to visit and to eat at was very useful. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much!
- Enrico (6/5): - No coffee available except at breakfast. Breakfast onl sweeayğ6
- Marichu (10/5): Hidden gem! - What a wonderful stay in Florence! Our host Riccardo is amazing. He arranged all our tours and made recommendations to the best places to eat, places to see, best coffee in town (Castorino) and best pizza Napoletana(Piccolo Cesare) and restaurant (Il Contadino) for dinner.
I chose this place because Florence is all about renaissance and museums and history, La Luna guesthouse has the perfect ambiance for an Italian vacation. Our room is kept clean at all times, and i love the newly renovated washroom. The only con is the water pressure is not the best as the building is old but I would still give it a 9 out of 10.
- JiYun (10/5): Thank you Riccardo -
Riccardo thank you for your kindly
nice room
nice rocation
nice host
everything perfect
- Tania (10/5): Amazing - Beautiful decorated room. Good size bathroom (private but outside the bedroom). Breakfast with delicious coffee, yogurt, toast, cookies. Riccardo was waiting for us when we arrived late at evening. He recommended us a restaurant and he made the reservations. Good restaurant with good price, but there was a 5 euros fee for service (we don't know if all restaurants have this fee around there). The only problem was check out because the app says at 11am and Riccardo told us that it is at 10:30 am.
- Katrina Lynne (10/5): Authentic Experience and Welcoming Stay - We travelled to Florence for one week for my husband's conference, and staying with Riccardo was the highlight of the trip ...true Italian hospitality at its finest! Riccardo knows plenty about the city, and was very helpful in that regard. Over breakfast, we were delighted by his new suggestions of things to do or try in Florence. The room we stayed in had a beautiful original fresco. The guesthouse decor will make you feel like you are living in the Italian renaissance. It was about a 15 minute walk to S.M. Novella station. There is a convenient laundromat next door, and a grocery store in the neighborhood. Will stay again.
- Monica (10/5): La Luna Guesthouse - Riccardo was more than hospitable and provided great advice for getting around Florence. We would definitely stay here again!
- Zara (8/5): Thank you for looking after us Riccardo! - My family and I had a lovely stay at the LA LUNA GUESTHOUSE. Our host, Riccardo was very helpful, organising transfers to and from the airport for us, giving useful information about the city and all the things to do, and provided a great breakfast to start us off each day along with some great conversation. The location of the guesthouse is perfect, only a 10-15 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio and all the other attractions. Accommodation was also very clean. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Florence.
- Sebastjan (10/5): - Perfect location, clean and comfortable. Recardo the keeper is very helpful and pleasant. Beautifully decorated rooms. About a 10-15 minute walk from everything. Staff very, very helpful. We would definitely go back!
- Ken (10/5): Quaint room - Very quant room with a full bathroom . Owner arranged a taxi in the morning and it was right on time. Only problem was taxi driver wanted cash which we did not have so he over charged us in US dollars
- Ann-Marie (10/5): Excellent Stay - I received an email after booking from Ricardo, requesting approximate time of arrival. The location is about 1 mile from Stazione S.M. Novella. We were greeted by Ricardo and he assisted carrying luggage up the stairs (1 flight). We were shown the room, which we had the private bath. He provided a map and suggested places of interest. He also provided us a large bottle of water and told us to ask for another when we were out. The room was spacious and beds comfortable. There was a mini fridge, iron and hair dryer. The A/C worked intermittently, and he had a repairman there the next day. It still didn't work fully, luckily it wasn't terribly hot at night. Breakfast was sufficient, consisted of cheese, pre-packaged croissant and cake, jams/jelly, coffee and juice.
- JD (10/5): Very nice - close walk to everything - Very clean and comfortable. Beautifully decorated rooms. About a 10-15 minute walk from everything. Staff very, very helpful. We would definitely go back!
- David (10/5): Convenient great guest house. - My stay at La Luna guesthouse, was Amazing. From the moment my reservation was processed Ricardo, was very helpful and attentive to all my travel needs, from arrival setup, places to eat, arrangements for trains, taxis and local sites. Look forward to a return visit to Florence.
- lisa (10/5): Best place in Florence - Riccardo was amazing. So kind and welcoming. Went above and beyond- even organizing a wine tour. Bathroom was super clean/modern. I'd definitely recommend it.
- Bob (10/5): Out of the way, but worth it - Clean, comfortable lodgings at an affordable price in the non touristy part of Florence. About 1 mile from Stazione S.M. Novella, but the tram runs close by, so not really a problem. Ricardo will take good care of you. Breakfast is good, but not excellent.
Stay here to save money for shopping and fine dining. NOT handicapped accessible, you will need to climb a couple of flights of stairs. Quiet and the A/C works well.
- Young Couple (10/5): Lovely stay at La Luna in late September 2015 - From the first few minutes after booking, all the way through Riccardo (the owner) bidding us ciao when we left, we loved our stay at La Luna. We only spent one night in Florence, and after reading reviews on a number of places to stay, La Luna was our kind of spot.
Riccardo emailed me within 10 minutes of me booking the room, asking for a rough arrival time to ensure he would be there. We got there on time, and got a tour of the place. We were impressed by the gorgeous frescoes, and our room was a beautiful room with a nice open air balcony, and seemed like very recently-updated bathroom. My wife and I both enjoyed the massage chair, and the bed was quite comfortable. Riccardo gave us a map and pointed out areas of interest to us (we'd both been to Florence before, but it'd been awhile, and his tips were rather helpful), got us a nice fresh bottle of water, and we were off.
The location was great. We like quieter spots where the locals are more apt to be, but with not too long a walk to popular sites. La Luna was an easy (i.e. stopping for pictures and sightseeing along the way) 15-20 minutes to Ponte Vecchio by way of the Arno River. Riccardo's suggestions for places to eat and drink were also great to have.
Breakfast was a typical European breakfast, but even with my American appetite I got my fill, and Riccardo had hot coffee and tea ready and waiting as soon as we got to the table. We left shortly after breakfast, and told Riccardo we'd see him next time!
- Peter C (10/5): Riccardo will look after you - We stayed for 3 nights in late September and Riccardo was a great host. The room and private bathroom looked recently renovated and everything was fine. Riccardo had some nice tips on where to go and to eat at Il Contadino which we did twice cos it was great value. We would stay again. Arriverdeci Riccardo!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent host who was very accommodating!
- tatiana (10/5): It was very good - The hotel is very well located un Florence and was very clean. Riccardo, was very nice and helpfull. We would go there again
- Vijaya (10/5): Very satisfied. Extraordinarily friendly owner - When in Tuscany live amongst Tusconites - therefore this is the place to enjoy one extraordinarily friendly and courteous BnB owner - Ricardo (can't say enough good things about Ricardo). The room that we stayed in had impressive paintings (on the ceiling "Birth of Neptune"). The bathroom was very roomy for European standards. We found the location convenient, convenient walk to the city center and the Railway terminal. Very satisfied.
- Jóhann (10/5): - Exceeded our expectations. Ricardo the host is very friendly an helpful. His tips made our short stay in Florence very fun and eventful
- Haissam (10/5): Haissam - Perfect location, clean and comfortable.
Recardo the keeper is very helpful and pleasant. I will stay again if I visit
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location and Friendly, gracious host - La Luna Guesthouse is a small bed and breakfast with an excellent location close to train station and all major Florence sights. Riccardo is a gracious and friendly host who is very knowledgeable about the area. He also provides a great breakfast with lots of cappuccinos!
- claire (10/5): Excellent. Lovely rooms in a friendly guesthouse. - I travelled around Italy with my eight year old boy and partner. The Luna guest house was the best place we stayed. The room was clean, comfortable and the owner, Ricardo, was an outstanding host. In our arrival he took the time to point out on a map all the places we should see, opening times and recommendations, the best places to eat and the best ice cream! He clearly loves the city and his enthusiasm shone through. This all gave the guesthouse a lovely relaxed feel. My eight year old was jumping out of bed in the morning to go for breakfast and a chat with Ricardo. It is five-ten mins from the train station and the centre/river. I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else in Florence.
- charles (8/5): LaLuna Experience for 3 nights - The guesthouse rooms are adequate and well secured.....had problems with American hair dryer never working even after owner furnished an adapter. Floor on one side of bed has loose tile. Step in and out of shower in our particular room might be a challenge for some older patrons. Had to ask for toilet paper second day as roles are very short.
All of that said, we would stay there again because of Riccardo the owner and his customer service attitude plus the location being within walking distance to see everything all the way to Michelangelo.
- Verified traveler (8/5): B&B outside the main attractions. - It will take 10 minutes walk from the train station to the guest house (15 for the first time). Wi-Fi signal was not acceptable during the first day, but it improved (after resetting?) the day after.
- Sheila (10/5): Convenient distance from all must-see sights - Riccardo was a great host. He helped us with directions to all the sites and recommended great places to have dinner. He even helped us with dinner reservations. The room was clean and the bathroom was spacious compared to the other hotels/ B&Bs we stayed at.
- Chuck (8/5): A good option - Ricardo was extremely nice and helpful. Location was slightly inconvenient, but still within walking distance of all of the tourist attractions and the train station. Bathroom was updated and roomy. Breakfast was healthy and served in a homelike setting. Good option for the price.
- Andrea (10/5): Service made this place great - The manager of La Luna, Riccardo, was absolutely fantastic! He went above an beyond to ensure our stay with him was great, and when we needed an extra night and they were booked, he called around town for us to find a room at a good price. Riccardo is truly an asset to La Luna!
- Kathy (8/5): Homey B&B - Riccardo is an awesome host, hands down. Aside from assisting us he made sure we were comfortable and gave us suggestions of where to go in Florence. Our triple room was spacious enough for 3 people and we had a decent breakfast spread every morning. We would walk instead of take the bus to the city centre since it was only a 15-20 minute walk. The area seems safe, there is a good pizza place across and a number of good restaurants within a couple blocks radius.
- LPJ (8/5): Nice guesthouse, felt at home - I hadn't stayed at a B&B before and as I walked towards the La Luna I started worrying that I was on the wrong side of the tracks and that the hotel wouldn't be nice and I'd be stuck. My worries were quickly eliminated as I was greeted at the front door by Riccardo, the owner. He carried my bag up the one flight of stairs and showed me to my room. The place was nice, clean and the bathroom was huge in comparison to the other hotels I stayed at. The bathroom was seemed newly redone. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed, with a home like basic decor. Riccardo was great and had contacted me ahead and arranged for reservations at the museums (get the firenze card if you'll be in town hitting the museums). The breakfast was basic, mainly packaged croissants, cheese, hard boil eggs, bananas, etc. but it hit the spot. Location wise, its about a 20 min walk to the Ponte Vecchio bridge. At first I thought it was out of the way, but it actually got me out of the city center and as a result saw more of the city and happened upon some great sites. The only negative was that the room was a little noisy, hearing the guests in the next room. It wasn't a problem for me. Staying here was like staying at a friends house in their extra room with private bath. Nice.
- Laura (10/5): Fabulous Fireneze - This is an amazing place to stay in Florence, Riccardo was so amazing, helping us with reservations, directions and tour information. The LaLuna guesthouse is in a great local for great places to eat, and you can walk to many places from here. also conveniently located near the bus route which is great in Florence. Super clean, nice, and comfortable. I felt like I was staying in a friends home. The breakfast was great and when i left my pillow at the guest house Riccardo was quick to respond and mail on to me at my next place on my itinerary. THank you Riccardo!!!
- Scott (10/5): Great B&B for a couple or small family. - Ricardo was an excellent host providing a wonderful breakfast spread and giving suggestions on things to do and see. He made for a warm and comfortable stay with beautiful decor throughout. He was very friendly and helped make our stay so pleasant and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Enjoyed Our One Night Stay - NIce place to stay and the owner, Ricardo is very accommodating.
- Roaminholiday (10/5): An excellent choice for your stay in Florence - Your host at La Luna will do everything he can to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. For example, when our daughter came down with a respiratory infection, Riccardo called the doctor for us (his practice was very close to the hotel), booked the appointment, and gave us directions. Our room had air conditioning, and though the bathroom was down the hall, it was still our private bathroom. When we return to Florence--as I am confident we will--we will undoubtedly stay at La Luna.
