• Gabriel (2/5): - This is not a Hotel, this is a hoStel. The facilities were incompatible for a family with a baby. There was no one to give information or do the check-in. The phone was incorrect on Expedia. We took a long and valuable time trying to contact someone. We had to book another property (a real hotel) on the last minute. We asked for the cancellation of the hoStel booking and to be refunded. However, the person we could contact on the phone just ignored us. We lost a lot of money time. This was not cheap. I want my money back!
• Guadalupe (10/5): - We got a 2 twin bedroom apt. w/ 1 bath. It was beautiful. Had some cracks here and there but that is to be expected since the island is mud and shifts. Beds comfortable, hot water to last 4 ladies. Kitchen equipped. There is a waterbus transport stop down the walkway so it makes it conveniant to get around by public boat transport. Resteraunts and stores close by. Safe area as well. FYI Any hotel you check into in Italy needs your passport info asap. If they dont document you are in the country they can shut down the hotel for 15 days.
• Jennifer (10/5): - Great location, only about a 3-5 minute walk from the Sant Angelo water taxi stop. A lot of up and down stairs, but the short walk made up for it. Great little location and quaint little hotel. Get ready to climb stairs! If you brought a ton of luggage, this may be difficult. The full room was perfect size just for 1-2 people with minimal luggage, very clean. Love the neighborhood! 5-15 minute walk everywhere you need, or just hop on the water taxi. Staff was very friendly. Would recommend. Only thing I wish they had was a bottle of water or two for the room, and/or a little snack for breakfast.

• Rose (10/5): - We loved staying at Hotel San Samuele. The directions on how to get to the hotel from the airport was very clear. The instructions on how to enter the hotel and access the room was also very clear. The room was very clean and the view outside our window was truly charming.
• Jon (10/5): Lovely, well-placed Venetian apartment. - Lovely, well-placed Venetian apartment that is great as a base for all the sights of Venice. Be aware that it is not a hotel as such and there is no reception or other hotel facilities. It is in essence self catering but as a single dad worked well as a two bed apartment with my daughter.
• Sofia (10/5): January 2022 - Very nice place, very clean and well looked after. You can tell that the owner takes care of it very well. The owner is a wonderful lady she helped me with directions and we talked about her collection of vintage furniture which she chose to decorate her hotel with. Would stay again.

• Maartje (10/5): Lovely stay, good wifi - We stayed for two nights at Hotel San Samuele in June 2021 and had a great time. The location is perfect, in a quiet area but close to everything. Wifi worked really well in our room (which doesn’t often happen in Venice) and the host Judith was super friendly. The (self) check-in was convenient and we loved that it didn’t matter that we arrived a bit later at night. The building is also lovely!

• Viktoriya (10/5): Hidden gem - Booked this hotel for my parents as part of a Christmas gift. Unfortunately, our timing as off due to high tide o er Venice. However, having called the hotel prior to arrival I was assured that everything was under control and handled.My parents were delighted with their stay. For such a low-rates hotel, they were amazed by the quality of the room, the friendliness of the staff and the great location. Definitely recommending this hotel for a city break in Venice and it would be my first choice once I myself go to Venice.

The only downside was that it could be noisy at night while we tried to sleep - our room had a window facing the front door of the building, and since the building is very old the walls and doors are not completely sound proof. Other than that, everything was super comfortable, clean, and very enjoyable! The area was also perfect - so close to everything yet just far away from all of the hustle and bustle.

Was there on a Friday night. Noisy until about 10:30 then absolute silence. Seamless after hour check in. Very helpful staff. Great value for location. Would recommend to others and would stay here again

• Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is located in a quiet area within walking distance to many sights and gathering places. Once you've figured out how to navigate the San Marco area you'll appreciate the location much more as it is so close to Rialto and St. Mark's Square but away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel itself has character and feels more like a home or guest house than a hotel. The only downsides are the lack of ventilation/air conditioning in the rooms (although they provide a decent floor fan) and the flight of stairs to climb to the hotel floor. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would return during cooler weather as the room was uncomfortable in the heat.

• Caroline M (10/5): fabulous suit for family vacation - we stayed in a two bedroom suite. it was huge. Nicely furnished, full eat in kitchen and lovely large living area. The wifi only worked in the living area and there was no A.C. or television.but we were not in Venice to watch T.V. and the fans provided a comfortable nights sleep even in early July. I would highly recommend this suite for a family vacation. I would love to live in it!!

They have fans in the room, but they are inadequate if it’s really warm. Second, the shower is really small. As in bump your arms and legs every time you move.

• Anwesh (10/5): Amazing place to stay - The host was amazing. She wrote very clear instructions in the mail on how to reach the place and about the timings. Once we reached we met her in the morning and she gave us a map and explained what to do and how to do. We just followed her instructions and directions and we didnt use google maps. The place was neat and very comfortable. No complains. I would definitely recommend this place to stay. There are good food options as well nearby.
• Daiga (10/5): Venice break in San Samuel - Had an amazing stay at this hotel. The staff couldn't be more helpful from start to finish. Contacted me before arrival to confirm my expected arrival time and gave info on all the means of transfers from the airport with the prices. As arrived after check in hours, was given clear instructions on how to get in hotel and information about room key, etc. In the morning checked in and was given advice about ask the local eating places, corner shops what to see and at what time of day, prices for local transport etc... Couldn't have asked for better customer service. Room was clean but beds could do with an upgrade, a little bit tired- one side had broken slats so it had a dip when sleeping. Rooms was cleaned daily, the small stuff wasn't really done on daily basis- one day toiletries where not replaced, the next water jug was not left, but there were more water jugs in reception in the fridge so that wasn't a big deal. Room had a multiple usb charging port for charging all your devices so that was a nice touch. Free tea coffee available in the reception area through all day. Overall very satisfied and would return and recommend!

• Ashlea (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay here. The staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. There are only about 10 rooms, so the service was really personal. The location was great - very close to the Sant Angelo water bus stop, and this made it easy to get to from the airport. It was also an easy walk to the main tourist attractions, but just far enough away from the crowds. There was a nice square of cafes and restaurants only 1 minute walk away. Highly recommended.

It was close to a Private room only hostel with a shared bathroom. Absolutely LOVE there’s a fridge to use and they always have coffee and tea in the reception whenever you would like. The staff are amazing! There are soo welcoming and helpful about where to go what to see and the best way to do Veince! I would recommend this hotel if your looking for something simple AND CUTE! Will be back someday!

• Leslie (10/5): - This hotel isn’t for everyone. It is older and classic, but bare bones. That said, it is pristine, the welcome is warm, the staff are super-friendly and helpful. It has beautiful terrazzo floors in the rooms, cyclamen flowers outside the windows, tasteful old furniture. There is a delicious pot of coffee every morning at the reception area. The location is ideal for walking, vaporetti stops, and the alilaguna boat from & to the airport. I would stay again in a heartbeat. This is my second visit. Small, quiet, personal place.
• Glyn (10/5): Comfortable friendly hotel in great location - A very warm welcome, helpful advice on the city and a large double room on first floor made for a great experience. 10 minutes walk to St Marks square so good access, restaurants, cafes and a small local store all within a few minutes of the hotel. The room was basic, no kettle but free coffee was available in reception. The room was clean and very comfortable though and excellent value.

• Paul (10/5): Great hotel close to Piazza San Marco and Rialto - I enjoyed staying here with my father for our short Venice trip. Tatiana, our hostess was very attentive and accomodating. Our room was clean and the location of the hotel cannot be beat. The shared bathroom was clean and readily available despite a few other guests checked in. Additonally even though we had checked out, Tatiana offered to allow us to keep our luggage at the hotel while we explored Venice some more without issues. I would recommend anyone coming to Venice on a budget, stay here without reservations.

• Maris (10/5): Wonderful Hotel on a quiet street in San Marco - I highly recommend this place! The hotel is centrally located but on a quiet backstreet. The rooms were large and clean, free coffee in the AM and strong wifi. Maybe the best part about San Samuele is the front desk. Tatiana was accommodating and informative. She helped us make reservations for dinner, pointed out great sights on the map, and had a super friendly demeanor. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

The airport lost my luggage but the staff went above and beyond to help get it back before I had to leave Venice. The hotel is walking distance to all the main attractions with lot of restaurants nearby. The hotel offers free coffee/tea. I would definitely come back here.
• Glo (10/5): Great location, friendly and helpful staff - This location is perfect. You are less than a five minute walk away from two different water bus stops. Close enough to walk to most museums and shops but far enough away to be away from the crowds at night for a good nights sleep. I couldn't say enough about the helpful and kind staff. They gave us plenty of tips and ideas and lots of detailed instructions on navigating the island. The shared bathroom/shower was never a problem and we stayed 4 nights. Would definitely stay here again!

Very convenient two minute walk to S Angelo stop for water bus to airport. The room was bright and clean with comfortable beds, and the staff were so friendly and amazing. We arrived late after the front desk was closed, but had email instructions on how to pick up our key and had zero problems getting to our room that night. The whole stay was perfect overall and I would definitely want to return if I'm ever back in Venice.

• Kathy (10/5): Hotel San Samuele - Judith and Chiara provided us a very warm welcome upon arrival. The location of the hotel is tucked away just enough to provide some tranquility from the busy streets of Venice. Our room had a huge window, lovely chandelier and was very clean. Besides the warm hospitality of the staff, another one of our favorite things about Hotel San Samuele is the location. It provided a great starting point each day to wander Venice and was very close to the vaporetto stop for arrival and departure.

A two minute walk from the Vaporetto stop about 10 minutes from San Marco Square. The bathroom is shared but it is always very clean! There is a good flight of stairs up to the room so be prepared for that because there is no elevator but a wonderful hotel with great service, amazing location and adorable rooms! We would stay here again!

• Verified traveler (6/5): Location excellent - We were very disappointed as we booked the hotel in July 2015 for our stay in September 2016.We were given a pokey room with no balcony and a scaffolding right in front of the only window. Rooms with balconies were assigned to the people who booked early--well we really booked early and had to pint the out on our arrival. Every morning we were woken by the hammering of renovations being made. These disappointments made the hotel extremely over priced at Euro154.00 per night. Not a memorable experience.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Great location and fantastic staff - Hotel San Samuele is located in a perfect spot, just far enough from the crowds of the main tourist attractions but within easy walking distance of them as well. Also easy access to nearby neighborhoods like Dosoduro which had great views and cool areas with restaurants and wine bars to explore. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. They helped us book a gondola tour for a great value, gave us clear directions and recommendations for navigating the city, and helped us with directions on arrival from the train station and leaving via the airport (extremely helpful and necessary in this city particularly).

• Silvia (6/5): Nice and clean... But... - It was a nice, clean, little hotel. And the staff was great!!!! I found 3 inconveniences: One, the hotel had NO air condition! Only a little fan in the room and it was very hot! I had to share the bathroom with 3 other people!!! And It was not to close to Piaza San Marco!!! At night I had to walk at least 15 minutes from Piaza San Marco by myself thru the labyrinths of Venice!

If it wasn't for the fact that our airline lost our baggage we would not have fitted into the room given to us. We had a shared bathroom which was close to our room and kept very clean. The staff were very friendly.

• Debs (10/5): Perfect location for exploring city - The hotel is tucked away in a quiet corner, but everything is very accessible. Whilst there is no restaurant, tea and coffee are available at reception between 0800 and 1400. The room had everything needed - very comfortable super king bed, extra bedding (we didn't need it), clean bathroom with shower, wardrobe, table and chair. What impressed us what being contacted directly by Judith at the hotel before our arrival to advise us on the easiest way to get there and she sat down with us to discuss what we wanted to do. She knew we had a limited amount of time and came up with an ideal itinerary, advising us to do everything the Venetian way - walk a bit, take a coffee, walk a bit more, take another coffee/beer, etc.! The building was in the process of being renovated so we did not get the full impression of the building it was in but one thing we appreciated was how quiet it was. Thanks to Judith and the map she gave us, we managed to see all we intended to - and more!
• Jonny (8/5): Venice trip March 2016 - This hotel was exactly what my wife and I were looking for, a quiet area with a decent room. Upon arrival we were met by the hotel staff who were accommodating from the start. They checked us in and explained the local area - very informative. We knew we weren't going to be in the room very often but the recently renovated room was clean, spacious and bright. The bathroom was very clean and a decent size. the only down side was that the bed wasn't the most comfortable but I had a decent sleep nonetheless.

• Maxim (10/5): Great cheap accomadation in the heart of Venice - I stayed there one night only but really enjoyed it. I think that a service is absolutely fantastic for such a small place. The staff is very attentive to your needs, helpful and friendly. The room is small but cozy and had everything I needed (towels, sink, comfy bed, good wifi). Location is also and advantage. Just a 10 mins walk to realto bridge and san marco square. It also has a supermarket and a boat station around the corner. Thanks to Judith and her team for an amazing experience in Venice.
• Sophie (10/5): Our stay November 2015 - Everything was great about this hotel, felt really welcome from arrival and the lovely lady really went out of her way to help us in any way. She could speak endless languages too, very impressive! Rooms were nicer than expected, cleaned daily, and towels/linen changed every three days which is all that's needed really. Overall top class! Would recxomend very highly. Perfect location too!

Up only one flight of stairs and in a quiet area of San Marco very close to two ferry stops. Room was single and comfortable with a basin and a view over street. Shared two bathrooms with two rooms.

The room was simple but had everything you need and was clean. The shower temperature seemed to fluctuate quite a bit but other than that I have no complaints!

Check in was easy and the sent way to follow directions well in advance! It was close to all the major areas/ sights. The area felt safe. We would stay there again.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Enjoyed stay during two person trip - I stayed here recently with my brother for a night in Venice during an Italy-wide trip. The hotel was easy to find, comfortable and felt like staying at someone's home, which we loved. The neighborhood was quaint and quiet, but only 10-15 min walk to all the main attractions. It was very close to the vaporetto stop. Tatiana was very nice and welcoming to us. The room and bathroom were very clean. The only downside was there was no elevator (we had small bags, so not a problem), no A/C (there is a fan) - not a problem for us at this time of year, but could be tough in mid-summer, and the wifi was intermittent. Overall, though, it was great for us and I would stay here again on a similar trip.

• Ozontour15 (8/5): Nice Hotel, you must stay in Venice. - This hotel is authentic and good value. The rooms are basic but comfortable. The hotel is in a good location for exploring all of Venice. Take a walk early in the morning to see a different light before all the hordes descend into the streets. Cafe and Restaurant choices are close by. If you are expecting luxury, breakfast and a/c this hotel is not for you.
• Glenn (10/5): 3 nights at the Hotel Albergo San Samuele - The hotel was not what I was expecting at all, when the front door opens up into the small court yard it is lovely. Our bedroom had ensuite, this was very modern and very clean, our bedroom was very spacious with comfortable bed, wardrobe and draw space. No aircon but a large fan was left in our room and was adequate. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend and will definatly return ourselves.
• Verified traveler (4/5): No Bueno. - There was no elevator or air conditioning. It was extremely hot in our room and our room was just above an outdoor restaurant that was open until midnight....so it was extremely noisy! I would not stay there again.
• Alice (10/5): A peaceful retreat in a busy little city - Lovely small and personal hotel, staff very helpful with emails giving specific directions to the hotel. Friendly welcome and lots of useful information on arrival. We had the cheapest room which was perfect really, very clean, and a shared bathroom which i only had to wait for on one occasion. Only issue was that it was very hot at night and there was no fan. Left the window open on one occasion and were attacked by mosquitoes! Apart from that it was great. 10 mins from San Marc's square and 10 meters from the perfect little restaurant for breakfast.

You cannot better the location as everything was close by and in walking distance. I would recommend the hotel for anybody looking for a real authentic Venice experience.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Venice is beautiful! - You needed to keep your shoes on. Not so clean and very tired furnishings and linoleum, the bed was not terribly comfortable, but very quaint with really nice hosts. It was in a good location.
• Daniela (6/5): Nice and quirky - The location is terrific. It's just a few minute walk from the SanSamule vapporetto stop. And 10 minutes to Piazza San Marco. We stayed with 2 small kids (6 yr and 18 mo) and came from the Santa Lucia train station by vaporetto. They had a wonderful pack play set up (call ahead for a "culla") . Some rooms do not have private bathrooms so make sure when booking! As such, there is at times a youth hostel feel, but it wasn't oppressive. Just surprising. The hotel has no elevator so that can be tough, but they offered to let us keep the stroller downstairs. There's no restaurant on premises but plenty within a 2 minute walk. I thought it was just a fine hotel. It is perhaps a bit pricey, When traveling with children all you really need is a place that helps you get by. These folks did just that. I would stay here again.
