Guest Reviews
- Sefer (2/5): - Zimmer schrecklich ohne richtige dusche nichts empfehlenswert
- Abe (6/5): - The hotel is in a very good location. The maintenance of the rooms is minimal and the room conditions is not good where the painting is old and the beds are not comfortable. The hair dryer and the TV were not functioning in my room. Overall, I would say the stay was ok, the staff were really friendly and helpful. However it could have been way better if they pay extra attention to the areas listed above.
“More maintenance”.
- Ali (2/5): - Terrible
- Rumon (2/5): - Nothing match with the picture. Breakfast is rubbish, service is actually none, means none
- Daniele (8/5): Great hospitality perfect location - There's a great view of the two famous mosques in Istanbul, you can also see the first bridge over the Bosphorus. Very nice owners, there's also an elevator. Unfortunately there's no kettle to make coffee in the room.
- Noreen (6/5): Average Hotel - An average hotel near to Sultanahmet. Breakfast was also average. Room was very congested and Bathroom / toilet was also not maintained. Only advantage is it's nearby to major tourist attractions
- Susan (8/5): - We had a lovely stay. The staff were very helpful and the breakfasts were great. Definitely a good budget option. An older hotel that has seen some use, but great value for the money.
- Trevor (10/5): - Roof top restaurant and walking distance to key attractions
- Ray (2/5): Horrible - The worst hotel I've ever been to. We stayed for 6 nights without anyone clean our room , we have to ask for towels or shampoo. Bathroom is full of roaches and ants, no working tv or fridge, very slow wifi.
That profile picture doesn't exist.
Except location and one of the guy in front desk Abdul nothing positive I can say about this hotel.
- Farid (6/5): Not recommend - Regarding to be hotel is not that great starting with the bathroom and shower are super inconvenient plus there is not outlets next to the bed and if you wanna turn off-on lights you have to go all the way to the entrance heating is so low well the hotel has to be renovated and being a little bit convenient for the customers,
- Lovepreet (2/5): - This was the most unpleasant holiday accommodation I have ever experienced. The room was disgusting:
- filthy/stained and smelly bedsheets with bits of dirt in the bed as well, I don't even wanted to know what that was.
- black mold and stains on the bedroom ceiling and in the bathroom
- bathroom and room size very small
- bathroom glass panel door was jammed and falling over when trying to slide close
- we could smell cigaret smoke all day, which we think is because the owner who was smoking on the terrace repeated times per day
- the breakfast buffet was very bad quality (hardly any choice and the options that were there were not edible) hard dry bread, very pink and odd looking meat. we looked at the food and immediately decided to leave and eat elsewhere even though we'd paid for breakfast here at Meddusa.
- the last point but not least: the owner or person in charge is very rude and arrogant. I had caught a cold in the hto air balloons in Cappadocia so asked this person if he had any paracetamol or something alike to reduce my fever and he abruptly said no. Usually hotels have first aid kits and basic medicines but that's understandable if they dont have it, it could have been said in a much more human and pleasant way. After that I asked him if there was any shop where I could get something from but he just ignored me. This is just an instance to give as an example but he was rude and arrogant in many more situations which made me really feel unwelcome.
- Diana (2/5): - I would like to get my money back I did not spend a night as soon as I saw the hotel I wanted to check out, but the reception said “no refund” and I had to stay 1 night. The restroom floor was very dirty and dusty. There were dead roaches under the wood planks. The bed sheets, blankets and pillows were very unsanitary and has yellow stains on them. I would love to get my money back.I am going to post all the pictures on line for review.
- Ambreen (2/5): Horrible stay - They have us a room which is supposed to be for x2 ppl and we booked for x3 ppl! No room for luggage, no room to stand, no room to pray. Toilet was horrible! Gutter smell, broken toilet seat, shower literally where the toilet was! They need to rearrange this room! Completely refurbish the toilet! We even raised it with the manager and nothing was done!
- muhammed (4/5): - Nicht sauber
No hablan inglés
- Salim (2/5): - The services, cleanliness and dealing with guests are not good, and I can say that they never exist, so I am very sad.
- Richard (2/5): - Llegamos habian cancelado la reserva
- Ahmet (2/5): berbat bir yer ve Gece - Malesef denizmanzarali Aile odasi kiraladik ama odanin denizmanzaradi yok ,kapinin önü direk mutfak ve kahvalti yeri, sabah 5de mutfakdaki tüm calismalar cok rahatsiz edici odalar berbat yatilacak sekilde deyil ,banyo havalandirmasiz cok kötü kokuyor asansör 1 kisilik ve cok gürültülü ucak ile Almanyadan gelmemize ve yorgun olmamiza ragmen hic uyuyamadik ve otelin 2 günlügüne kiralamamiza ragmen 1 gün oteli pardon siginakhaneyi terk edip baska otele gectik. Ücret geri ödemede yapilmadi.butür otellere nasil müsade ediliyor anlamak mümkün deyil sivri sinekler bile vardi , cok yorgun ve istanbulu tanimadigimiz icin sadece sabahi bekledik. Unutamayacagimiz berbat bir gece yasadik.
- Omar (2/5): 0 - Hi the lift is too noisy the bed is not comfortable the water cut off very bad
- Mehmet (2/5): - isletmeci mukemmel konum harika ama odalar berbat konfor yok fiyat pahali
- Yassine (2/5): - N
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Sehr nettes Personal, Lage sehr gut!
- MOHAMMADREZA (10/5): good location - Not bad for the price you pay.
- SR (6/5): - The best thing about this hotel is the location. It’s in the heart of Sultanahmet area. A lot of restaurants and cafes are with in walking distance.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I was very disappointed with the condition of the room, especially the bathroom. According to the reception the light of the bathroom blew up before we checked in and were told that the electrician will come in the evening. The electrician came when we were sleeping so couldn't be fixed.
The place needs renovation.
- Sandra (8/5): Location is great - Great location for sight seeing. Good price.
- Dexin Frank (4/5): Old and small room -
The room was very small and beddings looked very old. Especially, the restroom was so small, it barely fitted one person. Also, the restroom was at much high level compared to the rest of room, you had to took step up to get into restroom. Worst was shower head was in the restroom also without any barriers. When you were taking shower, the water got on the toilet covers and others.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Super Lage , schöne Aussicht . Frühstück schmeckt lecker, sehr freundliche leute vielen Dank
- Zeeshan (10/5): Amazing. - Staff were amazing. Made the whole stay very enjoyable, they were very accommodating to my disabled mum.
Defiantly recommend it for families. Also the location is a 5 star.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Ligging is perfect.
- Piers (10/5): Great location and price - We had a lovely three nights at the Meddusa. Wonderfully located halfway between Aya Sophia and the Grand Bazaar, 7 minutes walk from each, but quiet. Yes, the rooms are pretty small and a bit dated, the bathrooms very small, but it's all clean and there's air conditioning and at this price, you don't get five star luxury. And who goes to Istanbul to sit in a hotel room? Very friendly and helpful staff, a good breakfast and from the roof terrace, you can see the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, the Bospherous Bridge, Galata Tower and the Suleymanie. Not many hotels can boast that. We had three very good, nights sleep in the heart of the old city for a very good price.
- Ahmad (10/5): - Friendly staff that go out of their way to help, they accommodate if there is any issues and resolve. Comfortable stay.
- Mustafa aydin (4/5): Burda kalmayi tavsiye etmem.
Wasserij schuin tegenover.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cheap, good location. They need to renovate some. - Cheap, good location, good breakfast on a rooftop terrace with a good view. Yes, I would recommend for the price. Small cramped room but clean and warm with clean linen. The hotel just needs to some simple renovation of their bathrooms and rooms and would be perfect.
- ali (8/5): - Very pleased
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Great location for exploring Istanbul and it was clean but basic, absolutely fine for a family like us. Breakfast was simple but all good. At the end of the day it's a 2 star hotel so rooms will be small and a little noisy but it suited us fine as a base for sleeping. Staff were extremely helpful with everything and there is a great restaurant just next door.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Medusa Hotel - A perfect budget hotel in a great location with professional, hospitable and friendly staff. Very very good value. Many thanks.
- Sergii (10/5): Great stay in Istanbul - Dear friends, if you're looking for a cheap but cosy place to stay at the historical center of the city you should choose this accommodation. Room was small, but clean. Fresh towels and every day room cleaning is what we appreciated. But, the thing we liked most in our stay, was breakfast. Fresh fruits and vegetables, loukum, cheese - all these stuff in a budget hotel. And open air terrace was really nice. Place, where the hotel situated is really quiet. Personnel are friendly and helpful.
- Ed (8/5): Meddusa hotel - Hotel is walking distance to all major tourist attractions, also about 5 minutes walk to tram station, service is very good and friendly., breakfast with great selection. Room is a little small, but okay.
- family traveler (8/5): It's on the great location but very noisy - We are happy with stuff and food.
Good food location
Bad tv, noisy not very clean,
- malik (6/5): the room was very tiny but close sight seeings - The room was very tiny but close to grand nazar hoga sopia and others its good for just sleeping at night only not in room whole day
- Mother and daughter (6/5): Value for money - Small hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, with good location. Breakfast OK for the price. Room was very small but clean. Bathroom with only small sink and toilet and no shower. Only Turkish channels on TV.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice spot - It is a nice hotel in a good location. Reasonably priced and with a good buffet breakfast. Be warned that the rooms are very small.
- Jairo (8/5): Good located and friendly staff - Good deal for the price. The rooms are not so big and the shower is inside the bathroom (near the toilet) but really neat and clean. The staff was really helpfull, some of them doesn't understand too much english but made the effort. includes a good local based breakfast better than eating in the street. the restaurant is in the fourth floor so is a nice view. At the checkout the own manager help us to find a taxi. Has a really good location to main tourist sites, we made everything walking.
- sonay (10/5): close to everything - the staff are very polite, very helpful
- Verified traveler (4/5): quite small - staff was very good and helpful - - quite small - staff was very good and helpful - excellent location -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Short trip Great Choice - If you think budget, and location on a short trip Meddusa Hotel is a great choice. Professional and culturally friendly staff, great breakfast terrace and location in the heart of all major historical important points of Sultanahmet area made our trip a very enjoyable and an efficient stay. Rooms are small for Western standards, the beds can be a little more comfortable and a shower stall will improve the staying experience and the overall appeal of this hotel. I made arrangement for Airport pick-up and drop-off at 25euros per trip and everything worked very well. Communication with the manager, Eser Akkoc and the staff also worked very well. Thanks for the efforts .
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very bad choice! - It was not a good choice! everything in the hotel was annoying and the quality of the services was very poor. for example, It was impossible to sleep at the late night since they were preparing (!) the breakfast room upstairs. I'll never ever go back there!
- Nomad (10/5): Excellent stay, friendly, helpful staff - We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this hotel. The building is a little old but clean and comfortable - fitting for the old city location. Wifi works well. Breakfast plentiful and served on the roof top. The staff are lovely - very helpful and attentive. We would stay here again and recommend this hotel to others. Many thanks Hotel Meddusa. : )
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very central but room tiny - Great position for most of Istanbul's attractions but the hotel is time-warped and very basic. Would be concerned about evacuation should the need arise. Great view of the Bosphorous from the breakfast room.
- Female32 (8/5): Medusa hotel istanbul - Very friendly staff, hotel has pretty much everything you need though is fairly small.
- ulla (8/5): Fantastic location and friendly staff! - The hotel is ideally located right next to all major sights in Istanbul, just a few minutes walk to Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar etc. Staff is very professional and very helpful and friendly! Breakfast is ok, and it is served at a rooftop terrace with a gorgeous view over Istanbul! Rooms are ok, and have everything that you need, very good value for you money, we will definitely stay here again!!
- Claus (10/5): Fantastic. - Super nice hotel, very helpful and friendly personel, best location. I can only recommend Meudssa - as the right place to stay - in Instanbul.
- Veronica (10/5): The location is perfect. Staff is very friendly and helpful - Hotel is basic but very clean.
- Amy (4/5): Glorified closet with deficient bathroom - The hotel website does not accurately reflect the size of the rooms at this hotel. The room we stayed in, #204, is the size of a walk in closet in the US. For 2 persons, it was very difficult to make it work, as the bed is shoved up against the wall with maybe 2 feet of space on the other 2 sides of the bed. VERY little room to accomodate suitcases. Bathroom is very poorly installed with the sink wobbly and crooked and when you shower it floods the room, after you wrestle with the shower curtain while trying to bathe. We asked to be moved to another room, which the hotel accomodated, and the other room (located on the 3rd floor) had no window- only a fire escape door, the ac would not work, it reeked of cigarettes, and the bathroom was laughable- shower in the middle of the TINY room. We moved back to the room we started with out of desperation. I've traveled extensively throughout Europe and realize that space is at a premium in urban areas, but this was just poorly done all the way around. The only bright spots were convenient location to the Sultanahmet sights and a relatively decent breakfast (although the only coffee available was instant!). Would not recommend to anyone- look elsewhere for a decent hotel. We would have moved, but all the surrounding hotels were booked. : (
- Frequent travel (8/5): The staff were great except for the lazy maid - The hotel was a very good choice. It was nicely located and most of the staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.
The person who was supposed to clean the rooms was very lazy and often forgot or otherwise to replace the towels and bath mat that she had taken from our room. On more than one occasion we heard loud "discussions" between the maid and the management. Hopefully they will find someone better. But fetching our own clean towels and mats did not ruin our time. It was a minor inconvenience. Otherwise the room was clean enough (it was also small enough to be easily cleaned).
I would recommend it as good value for a budget price by European standards.
- Irena (10/5): Meddusa hotel - excellent location - The hotel was very hard to find without GPS due to street numbers being changed, once found it was well worth it. Small hotel but superb location and excellent service. Everything needed is in walking distance. Would definetely stay there again on our next visit to Istanbul.
- eddie and rita (10/5): absoloutley marvelous - couldnt have wished for a better friendley clean near to all the sites .breakfast just yummy everything fresh service with a smile .cant express how the madussa made our holiday ,thankyou
- Alison (8/5): Great location - Staff were nice. Room was very basic but clean. On two days we returned to find our window wide open, not good as there was easy access from the fire escape. The location is great for sight seeing.
- Syiezha Asyrien (10/5): The best one in Istanbul and VERY affordable for longer stay. - The best, affordable, with almost 5 star standard hotel in Istanbul. Staffs were very friendly, people around from nearby shops made us felt very welcome and warm. Good breakfast, flexible time for almost everything, cleanliness is second to nothing. Everything must see tourist attractions in Istanbul are within walking distance from Meddusa Hotel. Food are not a problem, other local amenities are really accessible. Strategic location, and friendly people. great combo. In one word, I am content, staying in Meddusa. I loike!
- Adventure from VA (8/5): From VA - The breakfast is superb.
- Heather (10/5): Just what I needed! - This relatively small, local hotel was perfect for me! The room was small, but was very clean. Had TV (who needs it in Istanbul?), heat, AC, and MY OWN BATHROOM...toilet,shower, and sink. There is a small balcony on the fourth (top) floor where you can sit and have breakfast and watch the neighbourhood come to life. Breakfast was quite good:.eggs, coffee, fruit, etc., and the BEST bread!! A great way to start the day. I was appreciative of being able to start breakfast any time before 10:15,so I could sleep in if I wanted. Civilized.
The staff were very helpful and courteous. One of the nicest aspects was Nihat, the best source of information about anything Istanbul ..... a gentleman with good English and a marvelous wealth of knowledge. I was able to see and do things that I might not have. His insight, knowledge, and help with reservations / tickets / suggestions about where to go made the difference.
The Medussa Otel is about as close as you can get to many of the things you might want to see. It is in the section of Istanbul called 'Sultan Ahmed',. In just a ten-minute walk is the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar (4,000 stalls), and the Spice Market, just to name a few sites.
Buhara Restaurant is just under Medussa Otel and provides evening meals delivered to the balcony / dining room on the fourth floor. This restaurant and its staff and owner were an added bonus to my trip to Istanbul...great food, great prices, and lovely, lovely people.
Go back? You bet!
- Prabin (10/5): The most friendliest staffs - The hotel is simple and modest but it is very centrally located and the staffs are exceptionally helpful. My wife left her passport and found out about it only in the airport. When we called the hotel, the staffs were in the airport with her passport in less than 30 minutes. What else can I say.
