Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (6/5): - The hotel and pub staff were very helpful and very accommodating when we requested something. They allowed us to check in early which was helpful, but that might have impacted the cleanliness of the rooms. Maybe if they had more time, the rooms would have been more thoroughly cleaned. Overall, this was a wonderful place to stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Confusing where to go when the pub portion is closed, as it is all shuttered, but was a nice enough stay once we were able to come back during business hours and check in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Dublin Pub - It was cool staying in an old building above a pub.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place, tv was a little hit and miss. Check-in Instructions weren’t really clear either.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was convenient to walk to places from here. Just a little noisy at all hours. But comfy bed nice size of room
- Marian (8/5): - Very central. Clean, quiet and efficient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - we loved the room and the floor to ceiling windows. Bathroom was very clean.
would love to had check in earlier than 3pm. had to wait at the pub for 3 hours for our room. tv didn't work.
- Alex (4/5): - Staff were abrupt, was told I had to move rooms half way through my stay? From a nice room I was happy with tons 2 single bed room with a view of a room sign broken furniture on. Tried to give me a 2 single bed room, when I said that wasn’t what I booked, they simply pushed to beds together and that was that
- Jennifer (6/5): - Ok for one night, comfortable bed, couldn’t hear any noise from the pub next door but it’s a very noisy road outside.
- Maureen (4/5): Lombard Stay - Thought it would be fun to stay above a pub and read reviews about no noise problems so happily booked. This could not be further from the truth for room #1. Our room overlooked the outside patio where pub guests gathered to smoke. The noise and smoke prevented us from opening the two windows in the room. No fan supplied in room. Also patio roof we looked out on was used for storage/broken furniture. I knew the check in process ahead of time but expected the gal working the bar to at least give us a rundown of townhouse/room. She opened the front door and handed us the key. The next morning after reading room pamphlet completely it stated water was for shower and brushing teeth only, now this would have been nice to know at check in! We did see the busy a.m.bartender/clerk checking in guests and waiting on our table, he could not have been nicer, kudos to him. This property would work best for a young clientele.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is above a pub, and staff is super friendly. Nice rooms and great location!
- Vicky (6/5): - Stopped at this pub overnight. We struggled to find overnight accommodation as Dublin Pride was on and this was available and wasn't too pricey. Overall it was fine, we ate at the pub on the Friday and had breakfast in the pub on the morning which was fine and again good value for money. The room was nice and big, but a little bit noisy with traffic from the road. If you want cheap accommodation in Dublin then this is absolutely fine.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We like smalll, quirky hotels. This one is in a good location, and the attached pub is quite good. The room is very small, and there is a lot of street noise.
- Toni (8/5): - We were exhausted from flying in overnight from Canada. They let us check in early, which was wonderful. Our room was comfortable and huge! The hotel is on a busy corner, so not quiet, but pretty good overnight and we slept well. Great location for wandering around. Very kind and helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - great location in a nice but not too busy part of central dublin. the room was clean and comfortable although the bed moved around on it's castors a bit when sitting up against the headboard!
- Heather (8/5): Overnighter in Dublin - Easy check in, clean, comfortable room. Helpful staff, we were able to store our luggage whilst sightseeing 👍
- James (2/5): Not for me thanks - We got in early (5:30 AM) and no one was available to talk to, website wouldn't work and hotels.com had no clue how we could contact someone to drop off bags. We ditched the reservation and ate the money and went to Westin where we got 5 star, bend over backwards service. If you want a quirky, off the beaten path place to stay, this may be for you. If you want a hotel, not so much.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room was filthy. The water had a very distinct smell, the sheets were littered with different markings, and a few moths came out of hiding once we closed the curtains. I do not recommend this place and would probably have found another place if I were staying for more than one night.
- Wayne (10/5): - Location was within walking distance of the centre, located on the corner of a busy junction so quite noisy with traffic
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fun atmosphere. Traditional Irish pub and fish n chips were tasty. Room was cute and cozy for the price. I was hoping for shampoo and body wash since airline lost my luggage, but no such luck. Otherwise a cute little room to lay my head before venturing out!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgrace - Positives:
1. Good location
Negatives:
1. Check in was an hour and 40 minutes late
2. Said they could get us a taxi within 5 minutes - after waiting 10 mins we had to find our own.
3. Internet not working
4. No drinking water in the room.
5. No hot water (including shower)
6. Very noisy water pipes in ceiling above room
Overall:
Definitely would not recommend this accomodation - you can get much better for your money! A private hostel room would have been better!
- Helen (6/5): Nice place. Great location. No hot water though. - The pub is in a great location for looking around the city centre. It was quiet as well. Only big problem was that there was no hot water in the morning so couldn't have a shower. Sink had no plug either so couldn't even put hot water in sink from kettle.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice room with polished floorboards and a big bed. Comfortable. Bathroom was fine other than a faint smell and the drain not working as well as it could in the shower. Overall a pretty good exprerience.
- PAUL (8/5): Great place in best location - Surprisingly good (was a bit dubious as it is over a pub but zero noise pollution and really comfortable room).
- Wearytraveller (6/5): - The place itself was fine, good value for money paid. The staff were great. My overall rating would have been higher except for one thing - during my entire multiple night stay, I could never connect to the hotel’s free wifi. I always had to go elsewhere in Dublin for wifi. It was an issue for me as I needed the quietness, comfort, and privacy of my hotel room for my planning and posting activities while online. The staff did indicate that they reset the router for my floor a few times, but it never helped.
- Eric (8/5): - Excellent central location, nice clean place, lots of friendly folks. Could use a few more amenities, ie, shampoo and body wash for the bathroom, a coffee maker, etc. All in all though, it was great!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Business visit - On arrival there were no Irons available as i was told there where only 2 in the hotel and were in use. Also during the evening, other residents must have left their bathroom lights on when they went out, as during the evening all you could hear was the loud drone of the the extraction fans and this only stopped when they returned.
- Padgett (8/5): Lombard Townhouse Inn: A Comfortable Stay - Great location to walk to many sites in Dublin. Very nice room clean, comfortable, reasonably quiet for a central location, reasonably priced, poor wifi and tv working when we left. We would stay here again.
- Alex (6/5): Nice Stay For The Price - Good location, clean room, comfortable bed, nice furnishings. No complaint other than the fact that the tap water was not drinkable and the hotel did not provide any bottled/filtered water. There were also no vending machines or anything like that to get water in the middle of the night. Other than that though, the room was pleasant, right above a nice bar where we were able to grab a drink, and just across the street from Trinity where we enjoyed walking around. Near the train station if you’re planning to take transit. Would stay there again.
- Emma (8/5): Great Location - Staff were very accommodating in getting our room ready to allow us to check in early. Location is very close to Trinity so was perfect for us. The room was large and clean and the bed was comfortable. The room is above a pub so does tend to get noisy particularly at closing time but it didnt bother us too much.
Only complaint is there was zero hot water in the morning so we couldnt have a shower and there was no staff on site to advise of this as we left the hotel pretty early.
- J (4/5): Wifi broken, can't drink the water, gross smell - This 4 star inn gave us a 2 star experience. At check in, the only information given to us about the room was that the wifi password was in the information book. They did not mention that you could not drink the water or that there was no remote in the room (had to read this on the 3rd page of the information book, no signs in the room). There is no phone in the room to contact the staff (which work at the bar next door). Each time we had an issue, we had to walk downstairs from the 3rd floor, go outside to go next door, and then had to wait for the bartender to be free (tough at a busy pub). The wifi did not work for the 3 days we stayed there even though the staff repeatedly told us they had fixed it. You have to put down a deposit to check out the remote control downstairs, and the buttons on the TV were broken. You cannot drink the water from the tap without boiling, and there was no complementary water or minibar in the room to purchase water from. There was no drinking water available in our building, so we had to go next door to the pub to ask the bartender to fill up our water bottles frequently. The bathroom had a sewage smell coming from the drain that made the entire room smell, and some towels had holes in them.
The room was clean, the furnishings were very nice, and the beds were comfortable. Some issues, such as the water, are to be expected staying at an older inn, but the inn did little to help reduce these issues.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We enjoyed are stay at the Lombard. The room was nice and comfortable.
- Andrew (6/5): Nice but pricey - Nice room good location for us,but pricey for what is a room above a pub, price was high due to a weekend of big concerts in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): loved it here - The location is excellent and the pub downstairs was great, the food was wonderful. I recommend the beef and Guinness stew. The staff was very friendly and it was a clean nice place. I highly recommend it here.
- Michaela (10/5): - The rooms are spacious and lovely. The bar staff is superfriendly and outstanding! I would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, great location - Spacious, comfortable rooms. Short walk from Temple Bar area and Trinity College. Only downside was no elevator (which was only a problem with suitcases).
- Eva (10/5): - Excellent place above a what seems to be a locals only pub just outside of the bust shopping streets of dublin. Food was ok but people were genuinely helpful. A little noisey at night but nothing the tv could drown out. Recommend it for a quick stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Lombard Pub and Townhouse is a good place for people to stay who just want a place to sleep and shower in between their events. There's no room service or amenities like a gym or spa but we knew that and we didn't need that.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No Internet! No Remote Control! - There is no internet, and sometime if there is but at snail speed! also no remote control for TV!
- Rebeca (10/5): - Great service, the people we were friendly and kind!!
- robert (6/5): Minor snafu - Due to an error by previous management my booking wasn't recorded and there was no room for me, the young lass in charge was great and organised a room nearby. So thanks to her.
- Kip (6/5): Over priced for what you get - Disappointed. The place is old and tired. The guy doing check in was not friendly at all. Let me struggle with suitcases to and from storage area and just stood and watched. Restaurant was pricy. Would not stay here again
- Jennifer (4/5): Loud and Dirty - We had to pay up front and now I know why! We arrived and there was no elevator, no air conditioning, no reliable wifi and no way to change our mind. The bathroom floor had hair all over it and it was on a very loud, busy street. The shower was the only thing nice about the room. The final straw was waiting for our cab to the airport at 8 am called for us by the owners. After waiting 15 minutes we hailed one on our own.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic hotel in good location - Great location, a bit noisy from street noise. I like the concept of the rooms over the pub but staff was not most customer-service oriented.
Sheets were dirty but the rest of the room was nice, fairly spacious and good light. Also good shower.
Ok for a short stay.
- Anne-Marie (6/5): Great location but that's about all. - Very clean basic rooms. Appears to be more of a higher end hostel than an inn with sparce amenities. It has been a pub for a long time but is somewhat new to the hospitality industry & it shows. Check in is done through the pub with wait staff &/or bartending staff, neither of which have been apparently trained in how to deal/interact with lodging guests. The Lombard may benefit from separating these 2 distinct services. The bartenders & wait staff are very good at the jobs in which they were trained for but are not & should not be expected to also perform lodging hospitality services as well unless trained to do so.
- richard (4/5): - Noisy! Hotel on Main Street. Had to leave deposit to get remote for tv. Would not stay there again.
- Traveller (4/5): Sleepless in Dublin - At no point were we informed that this acccommodation was over three floors with no lift. We were on the third floor overlooking one of the busiest corners of Dublin with traffic noise all night through the antique sash windows. Our room also overlooked the loading zone for the pub: more noise at all hours.
The bar staff seemed to have to handle bookings as well and this caused some problems. We had to pay a deposit on the remote for the tv( which didn't work anyway).
This was not a cheap hotel: it was one of the most expensive we had stayed in, though Dublin was very expensive anyway.
The basin in the bathroom was cracked and did not hold water. There seemed to be a boiler in the ceiling which turned on and off all night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Two Happy Visitors - We enjoyed are stay at The Lombard Pub, helpful and kind staff. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. And a great location for a short city break in Dublin.
- Jessie (6/5): Good Location, Decent Hotel, Poor Service - The hotel itself is in a good location in Dublin city center. It has a cool feel of being above a pub and the rooms were good sized. Another plus was we came in early and they were able to accommodate us checking in early which was very helpful. Parking was street parking but there were plenty of spots available.
However, the staff was not very friendly on our arrival. They were busy which may have been why they seemed short and somewhat annoyed with us checking in. It was really due to this we didn't hang out in the pub that was below the townhouse. Also, you get bare minimum accommodations including no shampoo, conditioner, etc. Also, as noted in prior reviews you have to get the tv remote and hair dryer from the bar downstairs with a deposit. All this would've been manageable for the experience of being in the middle of Dublin except for the beds were terribly uncomfortable. I even pulled up the sheets to make sure it was a "mattress" because I felt as if we were sleeping on a boxspring.
Overall, I was disappointed with the staff as that has been what everyone had said was wonderful in prior reviews. We would've enjoyed spending the evening drinking in the pub downstairs but did not feel welcome from the beginning.
With all this being said, I would recommend this to young friends with the disclaimer that their guiness intake must be high enough to rule out any need for a comfortable sleep.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good place - Overall the place was nice, the food was good, the service was good, people are friendly. However, the bed was terribly uncomfortable. I would stay again if It had a new mattress
- Linda (10/5): Easy access to all city locations. - Prompt, welcoming reception. Staff attentiveness remained throughout-really friendly & helpful. Room was perfect, spacious with a large opening window for comfortable daylight & fresh air. Electric lighting was well thought-out & appropriate to each location of the accommodation. Really appreciated the separate generous section built for clothing storage / personal belongings / drinks-making counter. Brilliant power shower, no messing, left feeling refreshed & not aggravated. The food was so tasty, sampling evening meals & breakfasts-cooked to perfection. There is a hail-a- taxi layby close to this hotel so perfect for your trips round town or to the airport. A no-fuss place to stay because they've already got everything sorted - thank you!
- Ashley (10/5): Everything you need! - This was me and my boyfriends first time in Ireland and stating at the Lombard was perfect. It has the exact necessities you need on a small vacation. We had a big bed, a great sized shower, and a little kettle to make tea. The room was cleaned everyday when we returned and the wifi worked perfectly. Everything we needed was in walking distance. The most convienent part was having food and drinks right below us. If we wanted to eat something quick before we left we just went right downstairs or there is a little store right down the street that sold snacks, sandwiches, and drinks. I highly recommend this to anyone coming for a small vacation. The room isn't huge but it fit all the needs for my boyfriend and I.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Honestly, 2.5/5 - The location is ok. The price is ok. The room is disappointing/uncomfortable because: a) the bathroom was not clean, b) my window was level with a flat roof so that made me slightly uncomfortable, c) no phone, d) weak weak wifi, e) lots of noise from pubs next door. Honestly, I got kind of a skeevy feeling about the whole experience. I was traveling alone, this was my last place to stay but the first place I felt unsafe. However, if I had been traveling with another person, I would not have felt as uneasy.
- JACOB (8/5): So so - Luckily I had no luggage - no elevator! Room was OK, pretty basic. Could not find info inside the room about the wifi.
- Billy (10/5): Absolutely great for anyone watching the rugby! - Rooms were simple but fine next to a pub. Ideal location between the Aviva and the town centre. Would definately stay again.
- Roger (4/5): Disappointed - We were really disappointed with our room at the Lombard Bar & Pub in Dublin. We paid $140 per night and thought it was really only worth about $70 per night. The bathroom window leaked cold air, the shower was either freezing or scalding. The noise from the pub below was often heard until 1 AM in the morning. There was no place to sit except on your bed. The entry carpeting and stairway was very dirty. Over the 7 night stay I think they might have cleaned our bathroom floor once. No amenities what so ever. We had two soap dispensers, one in the shower and one about 4 feet from the bathroom sink. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (2/5): I wonder why they want to have guests staying ? - Stayed here to get a genuine pub hotel feeling of Dublin. Upon arrival I was demanded to pay a higher rate than agreed on hotels.com. They claimed it was higher since they had not been able to charge my credit card at booking, although I specifically had a booking with "payment at arrival or check out".
They offer a 10% discount on the breakfast and pub menu, but when I had breakfast, being the only person and guest and asked if they charge it to the room, there was no discount and they wanted payment at breakfast. I had to go to the room to get my card to pay.
They asked for a deposit for the TV remote and for a hair dryer! Seems they have had bad experience with previous guests, but I felt like they would have been happier if I had not been there. Stayed at another hotel in Dublin for the rest of the week and was treated like a king....
Will not stay, nor recommend anybody to stay here.
- ita (6/5): - Was very happy with the condition of the room but there was no heating on at night time and it was very uncomfortable.as the pub was closed there was no one that could turn it on.the bar staff were very helpful and friendly.we encounter a problem were the door handle broke and we couldn't get our luggage, the manner fixed the it but his manner towards us was horrible.I wouldn't recommend this place to any of my friends and family
- Susie & Carl (10/5): Customer service excellence! - Our stay at The Lombard was a wonderful introduction to Dublin. The manager Martin, housekeeper Mairead and chef Natalie were extremely hospitable and obliging and we were simply impressed!
The Lombard is superbly located in the heart of Dublin's city centre and easy walking distance to everything we needed.
The full Irish breakfasts were served really quickly and we're absolutely yummy! The room was clean, fresh and warm with great hot showers. This Olde Worlde pub oozes Irish charm and has a wonderful welcoming atmosphere thanks to Martin and his down to earth, caring staff. We have actually booked two more nights again before we leave Ireland to go back to Australia.
For value for money, we would recommend The Lombard in a heartbeat!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was an overnight stay and the inside of the townhouse was a lot better than the outside so don't judge a book by it's cover. The room was large and everything we needed was there. Definitely more modern than it appeared to be from the outside.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Central location. - Top floor room was nice and clean. No elevator. The pub next door was friendly and seemed to be busy with bar food at 5.30. Good pint of Guinness. Good location within short walking distance to Trinity and museums. One thing. There is a loud humming during the night of what might be fans or some kind of machine like that. Space ship noise my partner described it as and that may be the easiest thing to call it.
- canadian travel (4/5): Ok room definitely not 4 stars - First of all you check in in the bar because there is no reception. We were early so they let us bring down our luggage in the pub basement where we got to try the gross pub toilets. When we came back later for the check in we were led to room 8 above the bar (no lift so must bring up luggage yourself again). The room looked very tired and poorly maintained (it must have been nice five years ago though). Water infiltration signs were evident from the dark ceiling spots. Curtains had a white crusty substance and bed head had doodles in the fabric. We came back to our room one afternoon to rest and an employee was repairing the caulking because our shower leaked into the bar below. Thank god it was a good price. There is no AC but the wifi did work. Good location but noisy. If you need anything there is no service, no concierge, it's a pub with some rooms above not a hotel, good luck calling a cab early in the morning when everything is closed and you have no phone!
- ewkol (6/5): Nice, close to center, too expensive for standard - There is no reception. We have to pay deposit for remote control for tv.
The hotel is clean and nice but the price is too high compare to standard (breakfast not included)
- Verified traveler (2/5): Yuck - No water
- Stanley (6/5): Dublin - Older area but great if you want to be downtown. Room was very clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quiet and Convenient - We almost didn't book this room because it was above a pub, but my worries about noise were foolish. The room was quiet and incredibly comfortable--smartly decorated. The rooms have their own locked entrance just outside the pub so you do not have to walk through the crowd to get to your room--lots of privacy. Wifi is functional, but do not expect too much from it.
The hotel is perfectly located behind Trinity, and affords a quick walk to National museums, the University, shopping, a train station, bus stops to the airport, and Merrion Square.
If you eat in the pub, which I recommend, try their bangers and mash. The gravy is made with a hint of red wine and is delightful.
- Larissa (6/5): It was okay. - This hotel was fairly cheap for dublin. The staff downstairs in the pub were okay when we arrived, no that welcoming but not rude either. The room was alright, no chairs to sit on and only one bin (a tiny one in the bathroom). Our room wasn't serviced one day, so our towels that we had left to be replaced were still there when we got back at night. There is a bit of mould in spots in the bathroom. It was about a 15min walk to the convention centre, which is the main reasons why we stayed there. It's a 15-20min walk to most major places that you'll want to go to in Dublin.
- Scott (10/5): Lombard Pub - Wonderful Accomodations - Great room, very very clean. Wonderful maid service. Shower was a waterfall shower, best shower in all of Ireland!
Pub food was fantastic, and the staff was very friendly.
- Kristin (8/5): Good location but a bit loud - The rooms are above the bar. Our room was above the outdoor smoking lounge and was quite loud until 4AM. We didnt sleep much.
- Raphael (8/5): city trip - Great for a city trip. Near to all the important places (like temple bar and shopping miles).
Friendly and helpful staff
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location and value for the money - The location is great. Walking distance from Hop On Hop Off tours, Temple St, downtown. Room is clean and nice. Bathroom recently renovated - very nice. We had trouble with the heaters which made us very cold since it's January, but overall I do recommend the place.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Pretty poor. - Basic accommodation beside and above a pub. No reception to speak off. Room a bit tatty with wall stains and dust. Mould in shower and around windows. Awful view over ugly roofs. Cold until I turned on the radiator. Shower head loose and leaking.
Only stay here if you must.
- Gary (6/5): Close to the college - It was an ok hotel. The shower was excellent. Although it is above a pub there wasn't any noise. The downsides, don't know if it was the key or the lock but it took us five minutes each time to get in and out of the room. The internet was horrible.
- MM (2/5): Bad hotel don't you even think about staying here - First beds are so cheep and the room is so dirty, you don't even have telephone in the room. And if you want a remote for the TV you have to pay 10 euros
The water boiler is full of funguys and the key for the room is an old key Any one can break into the room so easy
- Anthony (10/5): Good location - You will not go wrong if you book this hotel food staff and rooms are brilliant
- Verified traveler (4/5): So so. - Rooms could have been much cleaner. Grout in bathroom needed a scrubbing as well as the floor. Walls needed cleaning or painting. Floor had scratches. Temp was very warm in room but a lot of street noise if you opened the window. Second floor room.
- Geoffrey (6/5): Comfortable Hotel close to Dublin centre - The room was a good size for a single traveller, and had been recently modernised. Bed was very comfortable and the shower was quite large.
- Shawn (8/5): Nice place with large room and comfortable beds. - Plumbing issues. Shower and sink drains were very slow to drain. Breakfast was large and good. Location great for walking to Temple district and Trinity College. Room close to busy road and was noise level was high at night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Dublin Harpo - good for a blokes weekend away !
- Siofra (6/5): Good value - Very good value for the quality of the room itself. However check in was pretty chaotic and we had to wait until 4 pm our room. Overall we were happy.
- Kathleen (10/5): A great place to stay! - The Lombard Hotel is above a restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised to see our room. It was very clean and comfortable and the location was close to Dublin City Centre. A very good choice!
- Cristina (2/5): Buyer Beware! - We booked our stay at this place through Hotels.com. On arrival before midnight, the place was closed and we couldn't check in. We had to find another hotel.
At the time of booking, nowhere on the hotels.com site were we informed of check in hours. When we asked for a refund we were provided with a series of emails with totally inconsistent and varied account of events including check in times to be once midnight and once 11:30. Nobody there at 9 the next morning either and other guests waiting outside to check in as well.
Our experience is really similar to how the manager at this place deals with poor trip advisor reviews. Please read these reviews. Each time a trip advisor member posts an even slightly negative comment the manager provides a belligerent attack in response, which is exactly what he did with me. So expect to be berated by this establishment if you simply ask for them to provide the services you paid for. Or perhaps, simply DON'T book there.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel was a bit noisy. The bathroom has a stinky smell from the toilet and basin, probably no gooseneck pipe connection.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Our introduction to Dublin - Located at the NE corner of Trinity College, it was a great location to get to most sites/sights within the city centre by walking no more than 40 minutes (longer if you explored along the way). Easy walk to Christ Church, Guinness Storehouse, shopping (ILAC and Jarvis and St. Stephen's Green malls) and a stone's throw from the River Liffey and the Convention Centre. The room was nice but a bit crowded (it had a king bed which was great but the single bed in the room as well instead of a couch or table/chairs made it difficult to move around or even open the suitcase. Though WiFi is advertised, the connection signal is so weak anywhere in the room (other than right next to the door to the hall) made it unusable on any device. We were concerned that the room window opened right above the noisy patio of the pub; but shortly after 11pm, there was no noise even on a Friday night. Food was good in the pub and we received a 10% discount on food purchases during our stay. Definitely would stay there again.
- Jessica (8/5): Wonderful stay - My partner and I had a lovely stay. Happily surprised that even though the room was right on a street and above a pub there was hardly any disturbances. Would have liked to have more complimentary toiletries like shampoo/conditioner however that did not impact our stay at all! Room was very comfortable!
- Elizabeth (2/5): Ripped off and Locked out - Avoid. Went to stay for a night and was locked out from the entrance to the room due to a coding problem with the key. I tried ringing customer service but it is non existence had to stay a night in Dublin with no room with a minimal empathy from the staff. Avoid.
- Sadia (8/5): - Exceeded our expectations, considering it was above a pub! Room was clean and spacious and the location was good too.
- Russ (10/5): Perfect location, great price, lovely staff - This place is perfect for a weekend away in Dublin. Above a pub so easy for drinks and food (including a good brekky the morning after the night before). It's about a 5 minute walk into the centre of temple bar for easy nightlife access. Can't fault any of it. Brilliant place. Sure it's not the savoy, but it's excellent value for money, perfectly clean and spacious for a few nights.
- Alana (10/5): I was amazed - An absolutely excellent hotel for the money. The staff, service and location were far beyond our expectations. The staff, service, location and room conditions were far beyond our expectations. Suggested for anyone looking for high quality accommodation at a great price. Located above the Lombard pub which serves a great Guinness and a great plate of food as well.
- Perth traveller (8/5): Off the beaten path - We stayed for two nights and chose this hotel for its location. It is placed away from the main hustle and bustle of Dublin which is exactly what we wanted but not too far away from the Temple Bar district. Although the rooms are located above the pub, the noise from downstairs did not bother us.
Hotel staff were very friendly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): No water in room - Good, modern, clean room. Good food and friendly service in the pub. But spoilt by the fact that there was NO water in the room in the morning for shower, toilet or basin. Pub was not open when I had to leave for work. I reported the issue to the pub manager when I dropped the key off after 9am after it opened. Manager thanked me for reporting the issue but he stated he could do nothing in terms of reimbursement. No running water in a room is not acceptable.
- charlotte (8/5): Standard, solid hotel. - Good hotel, well located and in walking distance to the main bar area.
Room well priced - nicely decorated with a lovely en suite.
Staff did what was asked but nothing more - could maybe be a little friendlier.
Overall would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place ... but ... - Entering with trepidation we were pleasantly surprised by the room ... initially.
The pub the rooms are over is actually a very nice place, good food, good drinks and really friendly and helpful staff.
The room itself was OK, the lock on our room (No6) was faulty which was rather annoying and should be fixed as its a two minute job.
The room was quite newly refurbished but appears to only receive a cursory clean judging by the dust and dirt in places not obviously on view of the customer.
However, that is all quite minor, and would not have really dragged my score down by as much as it did if it was for the major problem we had.
For some reason the water is either turned off in the early hours of the morning, or the demand exceeds the ability of the water system to supply the required water for the building.
Either way, we had a dibble of a shower the first day and no shower on the second day, both at 7:00am or so, which needless to say is most unacceptable.
All in all a nice place, 20 minutes walk from Temple Bar (or the Aviva), so ideal for match days there, just spoilt by the niggles that would mean we would probably try someplace else should we return.
Sort the water issue out (and the lock to No6) and I would not hesitate to recommend the place.
- Nick (10/5): Very Impressed - We arrived early but they were helpful and stored our luggage. When we returned later in the day we were shown to our room and instructions how to check out. The room was very comfortable and took us by surprise. Really clean, tidy and modern and you would not expect this above a pub.. No complaints. The pub was also clean and tidy and attracts business people to lunch and the food looked great but we didn't eat. staff we friendly especially the English lady.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice little hotel, close to the Temple Bar area - I enjoyed my stay here at the Lombard and the staff were very helpful and accommodating about things, even though they were also busy trying to run the pub that the hotel sits above. It's a good 10 minute walk from the action of the Temple Bar area. The rooms were in good condition, the bed was comfortable. We did joke around with our friends that it might be haunted as the tv in our friends room turned on and off by itself and the hair dryer in our room turned on by itself twice, but if there is a ghost (or an electrical surge, more likely), it didn't disturb us!
- Danny (6/5): Nice decent location friendly staff in the bar - My room was not ready when I arrive waited couple hours then I got a room that intended for me with 3 beds I was alone that was weir they said they would change but never did.
They charge me 10 euros for the remote to be return when i check ou but when I check our Sunday morning the bar was close so no 10 euros.
other than that ok hotel good location.
- victoria (8/5): weekend break - The hotel is in a good location if you don't mind a short walk to the main centre area.
The breakfast was fantastic and they were really good when my sister requested a gluten free option due to her allergies.
The staff kept hold of our bags while we spent the day sight seeing before a late flight home. They also called us a taxi back to the airport.
Its nothing fancy but the location and staff were great. I would stay here again.
Thank you x
- Verified traveler (6/5): Room looked cute but bed was HORRIBLE - The bed wasn't actually a mattress, but instead just a box spring with a sheet over it. And it was to twin box springs together under the sheet. Neither of us slept well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable but expensive - Very clean, spacious room and he bed was very comfortable and the room was warm. However I was unaware that in order to go into the room, you haas to leave the pub and go outside to go into a seperate building. The pub prices were very high and the prices of breakfast on the menu did not match my receipt.
- tanya (6/5): Lombard - Eh, don't expect to get much sleep staying next to a pub on the weekend.
