Guest Reviews
- Andrew (10/5): - This hotel was very nice and clean. It was on a side quiet alley, which was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle. The innkeeper was extremely nice and helpful too. We loved it
- Athula (8/5): - Zaguri Bed and Breakfast is a good place to stay which is very close to the Vaporetto stop. It is located in a very old building but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very nice but the breakfast was all sweet stuff like cookies. This place is walkable distance from almost everything you might want to see in the main island of Venice.
- Trevor (10/5): - The proprietor is Claudia and she was extremely receptive and helpful, providing very easy to understand instructions the entire way. The building is a mere 3 minute walk from the nearest vaporetto station (Giglio) and the location is excellent. Close to everything but just far enough from the hustle and bustle of the Square. Very quiet, and the room has all the amenities one would expect from a well-run B&B. Spent 3 nights here and hope to return someday. 😊👍
- Verified traveler (8/5): Venice - Great B & B with easy access to all the major tourist places.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a great bed and breakfast in an excellent position. It's just off the main route to St Mark's Square, so is quiet but very central. The room was plenty large enough, with good storage, and the bathroom was excellent. The decor is old, but that's typical in Venice, and there was no view (but again, typical unless you're in a much more expensive property). The breakfast was good, all the staff are friendly and helpful (speak English too), and the place is secure and safe. I'd certainly recommend it as a really good place to stay at a reasonable price.
- JENNIFER (10/5): Great Stay - The front desk was very helpful and gave us some great food recommendations. Breakfast at the B&B was a small buffet but had more variety than I had expected. The area is walking distance from St. Marks Square. The room was clean and comfortable. We would definitely recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The people were nice and helpful. The location was good. Venice was great!
- Kim (10/5): - Beautiful cute place in a great location easy to find very friendly host good variety for breakfast would recommend
- Angel (10/5): - Mario and staff were most pleasant and assisted us in everyway possible! I would definitely recommend it!!
- Mike (10/5): - Really nice property that is centrally located. About a ten minute walk to San Marco in one direction and 10 minutes to the Rialto Bridge in the other direction. Pleasant and helpful staff.
- rob (10/5): Perfect location, so friendly - Cosy B and B in a perfect location. 2mins from Giglio Vaporetto stop, google maps took us to the front door. Nice big room overlooking the canal, lovely breakfast. A gem
- Catalina (6/5): Good place to stay, good location and hostess was - Breakfast should be better. Just few options of food. Could be an carafe to make coffee in room
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely bed and breakfast accommodation. - Great position close to St. Marks square all main attractions within walking distance. The owners were very welcoming and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
- Barbara (10/5): - Clean friendly staff very helpful . Exceeded our expectations
- Peter (8/5): - Comfortable overnight stay at this b&b. Very warm welcome from receptionist who was also very informative on local area. Lovely breakfast. Would recommend this b&b for a short stay and we would definitely return on our next visit to Venice.
- Lynn (10/5): Nice and spacious room - A nice place and a little hard to find, but worth it. You have to walk quite a bit so if you have a lot of luggage, you should consider leaving your belongings at the train station.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet part of San Marco. - We arrived via train to Venice and took the water bus to the stop near Zaguri. Check in was pretty smooth, we had to wait outside for a few minutes for someone to answer though. Bennadetta checked us in and gave us a few recommendations, one of which was our best meal in Italy. It was in a quiet part of san marco which was nice getting away from the tourists.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - The directions were excellent and we enjoyed the central location. Although there was no view from the room, it was bright. The bathroom was large. The staff were welcoming. Being close to SAN Marco allowed us to visit many sites on foot and also attended a classical music concert.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Zaguri - Zaguri was charming. It is located on a canal and within walking distance of all the sites. The staff was most helpful and the breakfast offerings were great!
- Sue (10/5): Great location with friendly hosts - Mario was very nice and friendly, checking us in without hurrying us even though we arrived later than expected after getting lost. It was nice to have breakfast each morning, and the location is excellent for main tourist sites. Our quad room was spacious, though the cot bed was not particularly comfortable. Be aware that there is a flight of stairs and no elevator, if that is a problem for you.
- Adam (10/5): Hidden Gem in Venice - This B&B is hidden in plain sight, just off one of the main routes to/from St. Marks Square - a brilliant place to be. Room was spacious, light, quiet, clean and well decorated. Staff were friendly, let us check in early and gave us a place to securly leave bags for the day before we departed for the airport. Airport waterbus is just a 2 min walk away.
- Sam (6/5): Location to St Mark's square and Rialto bridge - Once we managed to orientate ourselves it was a great location.
- Gail (10/5): Wonderful hotel and experience - Zaguri is well situated in Venice close to San Marco piazza, shops, features of Venice, and restaurants. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The accommodation was perfect.
- Petet (10/5): Great location - We were made to fill very welcome in this well located, quite and comfortable location with special welcoming glass of wine and fruit plate.
Quality and value restaurants very near as are main attractions.
Our hosts handled my medical emergency by calling her doctor for advice and organising a water ambulance which came promptly and within 2 hrs I was discharged
All for $60 which included on time follow up appiontment.
We proved to be the guests from hell as the next day my wife's wallet was stolen.our hosts facilitated the necessary phone calls.
They are the perfect hosts.
Tips: keep numbers to report stolen cards seperate, avoid back packs, only take cash required for the particular outing or card in very secure pocket, Walks of Italy are great
Avoid City Tours at all costs
- Anita (10/5): good location - Hotel Zaguri is more of an old style pensione than a hotel -- no one is there during the day. The location is perfect - not in the heart of the madness of Venice, but central to get there and just about everywhere easily. It's an easy walk from the S. Maria del Giglio vaporetto stop, so if you're taking the Alilaguna boat from the airport it's easy. Air conditioning in the room worked well which was an added bonus.
- JOHANNA (10/5): - Excellent! It's so close to everything. Accommodations were excellent.
- Margaret (10/5): Convenient and clean hotel - Clean and large room in very convenient location. Friendly service at front desk.
- Javier (10/5): Great hotel! - Wonderful place to stay! The staff was super friendly, the location ideal, the room clean, and the breakfast delicious!
- Robert (10/5): An Excellent place to stay. - Absolutely loved Zaguri - very warm, welcoming and generous hosts. The room was clean and spacious. Excellent location from which to explore Venice. Will return.
- Roger (6/5): Helpful information in this review! - After reading hundreds of reviews, we settled on this place which had good ratings and decent price (for Venice). The place was clean, the staff friendly, the Italian-style breakfast good. Here are a couple of things I'd like to pass on to other guests. 1. The email they send you with map and directions for getting from the train station were spot-on and got us there with no problem. 2. IMPORTANT When you arrive at the B&B, you will see a huge wooden door and a number of doorbells (there are also a few apartments in the building). Ring the bell for the Zaguri, and someone answer the intercom, you tell them who you are and they will buzz you in. You'll enter a small entryway, go to the second wooden door in front of you, and then head up the stairs on your left where the staff member will meet you and give your key. (NOTE - this would be a helpful addition to the instructions). 3. Our room was air conditioned, but the unit (see photo) is portable, so you have to open the window to run a hose outside. This means the window is open, so mosquitoes can come in - we used the curtains to block the openings. The unit It is also very noisy. 4. On our last afternoon, our A/C unit started making suck a terrible noise so we couldn't use it. I called and left messages for both numbers they gave us, and nobody ever responded. There is no staff on-site except from about 8 am- noon, so good luck if something goes wrong.
- @jaimeconamore (8/5): Good B&B but expensive; hard to find even by GPS - Generally, our experience was positive. The location from the terminal is great, and the place was clean and spacious. It's not cheap but breakfast comes we great selection of foods. We had a hard time looking for the place, and the staff is hard to contact by phone and e-mail. We couldn't get any response in all our correspondence.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was dark in the halls and needing improvements and repairs.
- Michelle (10/5): Charming Bed and Breakfast with Great Location - Sweet Bed and Breakfast at the Maria San Giglio Vaporetta stop. From here, you can catch the Vaporetta #1 and get to any stop from Lido to P.le. Roma in either direction. It is also a 10-minute walk to St. Mark’s Square. We had a room for 4 which consisted of 4 twin beds. The bathroom was spacious but we were a little tight for space in the room. There are a lot of breakfast options that includes pastry, boiled eggs, meat, cheese, cereal, coffee and juice. Breakfast is served at 8:15. We had an early morning and they provided a cold breakfast for us in our room the afternoon before. There was a small refrigerator in the room that they put the yogurt, cheese/meat, eggs and butter. Then provided pastries and jellies. Very nice to accommodate if you have an early start in your schedule. You will have to bring your luggage up a flight of stairs to get to your room. Very nice hospitality and location.
- Cene (10/5): A nice location, good breakfast, lovely owner. - This is a lovely bed and breakfast. The owner is a very sweet couple who treated us to snacks and drinks on our arrival. Breakfast was very good. Location is good. They did have an AC that they turned on for us (I think they thought we were crazy ; ). They weren't hot, but we're hot natured and I was already sweating). The hostess on the first day was very friendly and helpful. She wasn't there on the second day but someone else was but she wasn't as friendly. My only complaint is this - We stored our luggage there after we checked out and when we came to retrieve it, we needed to use the bathroom before we got on the water taxi. After much begging, they allowed us to use one.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very friendly staff, great location and clean!
- Ray (10/5): Surprise weekend in Venice. - The hotel was in a fantastic position, close to many of the main attractions and just off the Grand Canal. The staff were particularly helpful and had our room ready for our early arrival. They also looked after our luggage on our departure day to save us dragging it around all day. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful and we would certainly book again.
- patricia (10/5): Zaguri is the place to stay! - the breakfast is more than adequate, very delicious.
- Tugba (10/5): Lovely B&B with spacious rooms at great location - Lovely B&B with spacious rooms and space in the heart of Venice. Great location , few minutes beautiful view walk to St Mark's square and Accademia bridge. Very easy access to the hotel from Marco Polo airport, straight to vaporetto station which is very close to the hotel.
Very helpful staff. Reminding us the change of the time and thinking about leaving us breakfast is we need to check out early, very thoughtful. Also, it's great to come across a canal when you open the doors of the hotel. Definitely recommended.
- Ronaldo (8/5): Nice but tough - The place was clean and nice. You need all the strength you could gather to lift all your luggages as there were many stairs to take. Be prepared.
- Margaret (8/5): Nice location near to St Marks Square - Nice room and good location at a reasonable price. Our room overlooked a small canal. The size of the room was fine with a decent shower. The continental breakfast was simple but adequate and the staff were helpful. We were given a map with suggestions on places to see that we would have missed otherwise. I would definitely book again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean facilities close to St Marks Square - Close to St Marks Square close to restaurants, a bit difficult to find. an external sign awning would help greatly. Otherwise I would highly recommend Zaguri B&B
- James (6/5): Serviceable accommodation - Excellent, quiet location: walkable to Piazza St Marco & near a vaporetto stop. Wife not happy that her hair clip disappeared from the room.
- Aubrey & Debra (10/5): Wonderful, quiet location. - The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions as well as anything we required to make our stay comfortable. Good breakfasts with fairly good variety. Hard to go wrong staying here.
- Janice (10/5): - Great location, great staff, great breakfast. Nothing bad to say about this place
- Joyce (8/5): - Very convenient location. Nice room, a lot of steps for carrying baggage.staff very accommodating and hospitable. I would definitely stay here again.
- helen (10/5): Centrally located b and b easy to find in venice - The staff spoke good English and gave us clear instructions to get to property. They were extremely helpful in giving us lots of useful information and helping us to book a bus on theinternet when we left. Nothing seemed too much trouble. It was just a few minutes walk from vaporetta station on grand canal so very central to use transport or walk to main places of interest.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - found better accomadations but the manager was kind enough to not hold us to our contract when we had to find another room on ground floor. If stairs don't bother you then the place ok
- Michael (10/5): Trip to Italy. July 2015. - It was very comfortable stay in Zaguri.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A wonderful B and B! - We had a very nice stay here and would recommend it to anyone. We had to leave early that morning and they were kind enough to put a beautiful "to go" breakfast together for us in our room. It was so warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!
- marilyn (10/5): Lovely room and great location - A great, well kept room. Staff were lovely and the location perfect.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely hotel in a great location - We enjoyed our stay at Zaguri! The B&B is clean and in a great location. We took the vaporetto from the train station, but then walked everywhere we wanted to go from the B&B. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again!
- Joan (8/5): zaguri bandb - We were able to walk to San Marco square and other famous enough sites easily. Very nice place, enjoyed the owner knowledge of the area. Nice stay!
- Emily & Derrick (10/5): Must Stay! - The Zaguri Bed & Breakfast was fabulous! We did a Rome-Florence-Venice trip in late April 2015 and this hotel was a perfect ending to our trip. Really friendly and helpful staff! Great breakfast (brie, croissants, yogurt, cappuccino, boiled eggs, cereal, juice, etc). The staff emailed me the same day I booked the room to provide directions and a colourful map. I, in turn, emailed to ask if our room could have a view of the water - they said they would do their best. Our room was lovely, looked out on to a canal, and it was quite large! The hotel is about a 5 or 6 minute walk to St. Mark's Square & maybe about 10 or 15 minute walk to Rialto Bridge. It was extremely easy to reach on the waterbus (we arrived in Venice by train) - once you get off the waterbus, its a 2 minute (or less) walk to the hotel. I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel - you must stay here!
- David (8/5): Great location - Great location
- Jan (10/5): Central and most comfortable bed ever in a B&B! - We really enjoyed staying at the Zaguri. It is about two minutes from a water bus stop (Giglio) which makes walking there with luggage relatively easy. We had no trouble finding it, though there is only a small brass plaque on the door which needs watching out for. The B&B is on the first floor, which others have commented on negatively, but which (if they knew Venice's history and the flood risk) would realise that it is both normal in Venice and also somewhat handy when there is water in the streets... Gabriela and her team were friendly and helpful, full of information about what to see and where to go. The place is simply kitted out, without much daylight in the small breakfast room, but that's the nature of the building and it didn't bother us. It is very clean, our room was very very quiet, and the bed was SO comfortable. The staff also found me a particular type of pillow when I requested it (in advance), something that other more expensive hotels have failed to manage in the past. We thought it was very good value for money.
- Michelle (10/5): Lovely, good value for many and great location - We spent a weekend in Venice and Zaguri was the perfect place to stay. The room was spacious and very clean. We liked the family's owned feeling and the location. Good breakfast also.
- col (8/5): Close to Marks Square - We really enjoyed staying here & would recomend to others , Included breakfast so you could take off sightseeing & not worry about looking for a restaurant in the mornings. try to avoid eating at marks square more expensive...
- TCH (8/5): Excellent location but maybe a difficult to locate - Value for money as this B&B is located just a few minutes away from San Marco Square. Would not recommend walking to the hotel from the railway station if you have luggage as it is a long walk with many bridges to cross and one has to be extremely lucky not to be lost inside the narrow lanes. Highly recommend to take a water bus Line 1 to Giglio even if it cost 7e and takes 30 minutes.
- Kerilee (8/5): Wonderful Venice - The staff at Zaguri were very friendly and welcoming. The B&B was well situated and neat and tidy. Breakfast was great ! The only negative of the stay is there could of been better signage out the front as we arrived in the dark and it was difficult to find the entrance.
- Jack (10/5): Perfect location on a canal. - Mario and his staff are excellent, especially the beautiful, sweet, helpful and friendly nubodi (not spelled right). Excellent breakfast.
- leahmarie (8/5): Great location. - Found the hotel quite easy, but not fun to get to with suitcases but it's like that anywhere in Venice.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and did the job.
A little run down but it's Europe so you have to expect that!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent service, friendly staff! - Great location, very accommodating. Gave us great tips on eating places, and directions. Had no problem with us leaving our luggage after checking out to continue exploring Venice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location! - When we checked into this BnB our room wasn't quite ready, which was fine by us and was only going to take 5minutes so the owner borough us champagne and a few nibbles. It was such a nice thought and very much appreciated.
We found the hotel to be very easy to find and a good central location to everything in Venice.
The room was very large and the breakfasts were very nice.
- Ana (10/5): Old world charm with modern amenities - Our stay at Zaguri Bed and breakfast was the best of all during our travel through Italy. It had an old world charm with modern amenities. VERY CLEAN. The place has obviously been updated. Breakfast was average and adequate. The location was EXCELLENT. Close enough to Piazza San Marco but at the same time far enough to thin out the crowds. It's close to the San Giglio stop so easy to get on and off the water taxi. I would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Short stay in Venice, June - I only stayed there one night and it wasn't cheap, but it was well worth in. No elevators for baggage , though it was only one set of stairs. Nice big room with an amazing bathroom, huge tub. Close to where you want to be in Venice. Decent breakfast; cold meats, bread, spreads and fresh coffee. On the Vaporetto 1 its about a half hour ride to the stop you need. Staff was very nice and sweet.
- Michael (10/5): Wonderful B&B with Wonderful Staff - Very clean, comfortable room. Free large bottle of water in the in-room fridge. Our room was basically on the ground floor, though some I believe are up one flight of stairs. Nice free continental breakfast; better than I've had at a lot of other European hotels. The staff are wonderful. We (twice) accidentally blew all the fuses in our room by plugging in a incorrectly set international power adapter, and they were very kind and understanding. I offered to reimburse them if they needed an electrician, and they politely declined, willing to cover any costs themselves. The location couldn't be better: easy access from the vaporetto, a quick walk to St. Mark's, great restaurants nearby, and just a short walk to the Accademia Museum. ***One outstanding bonus: they have a fantastic staff member who seems to run the day-to-day administrative needs (we nicknamed her "Lasagna" because we kept forgetting her real name and it sounded similar). Not only is she fluent in quite a few languages, but she is genuinely one of the nicest, friendliest, and most helpful people you could meet. It's worth staying there just to have her brighten your day and to know you're in her capable hands.
- Vicki (6/5): Convenient Location - B & B in good location convenient to all attractions. Located on 1st floor, so access is up steep set of stairs which was difficult with heavy or larger suitcases.
Breakfast very basic. Staff helpful when asked but not forthcoming.
Would have been good to have some English speaking TV channels, rather than all Italian. Quite noisy with people coming and going and heavy doors closing. Quite a few mosquitoes in room - we had to request repellant.
Overall, quite austere atmosphere.
- Mike (8/5): Great location, decent accommodation - Walking distance to most of the sights in 5 minutes. Beds aren't great, but most in Italy aren't great. Room was clean, large, and secure. Most people stay in Venice a night or 2 and this place is perfect for that, I would not stay here or in Venice any longer then 2 nights
- Gerry (10/5): Great Location - A beautiful B&B where the staff were wonderful, the room was great, breakfast was good and location was perfect. We always look for a B&B that has the home type feel and Zaguri did not let us down. It is central to where ever we walked to and being on a canal made it a little more special.
- Colin (10/5): Easter Break - Following the instructions we were given we found the B&B easily, although the entrance door doesn't look like an entrance to a B&B or hotel more like a private house. Our room large enough for us and was clean and bright and the ensuite shower room also large, clean and bright too. Our room was off the breakfast room and in the main part of the B&B. The staff were all very helpful and welcoming and bent over backwards to assist us. The B&B is in a very good location, 10 paces off one of the main thoroughfares between Piazzo San Marco and Campo Francesco Morosini but the B&B was very quite and relaxing. Location wise the B&B was brilliant and allowed us to explore Venice with ease. We visited all the tourist sites like Murano, the Bridge of Sighs, the Rialto Bridge and had a Gondola ride on the canals. Breakfast was a typical continental breakfast of croissants, cheese, ham, jam and yogurt which filled us up for our adventures in Venice. We all loved the B&B and look forward to returning.
- Kylie (8/5): Friendly accom in great location - We felt really safe and welcome here. The owners are lovely and friendly. Room was basic but comfortable and clean. Location is great easy walk to main square and most attractions. Brilliant value compared to other Venice accomodations ( which are hugely overpriced for families). We will definitely stay here if we return to Venice
- Fred (6/5): Nice location near San Marco - This bed and breakfast was small, but not surprisingly. The staff was very nice, with a welcome drink and snack. We liked the location, being 5 minutes from San Marco. It was very quiet at night which we could not say for any other place we stayed in Rome, Florence or Verona. The breakfast was quite adequate, and they were very attentive to us. We would consider staying again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great B&B, close to San Marco - Great place to staff, staff was friendly and helpful. Very convenient location!
- Dennis (8/5): Nice Little B&B - Everything about the B&B was very nice. Rooms were clean and staff very friendly. Decent Wifi. Decent Breakfast. The only thing they could improve is the visibility of their location. There are no signs or anything other than a tiny nameplate on a door buzzer, which when dark is not so easy to spot.
- David & Janet (8/5): Our first time in Venice. - We took the vaporetto from the train station and following the map supplied by Zaguri B&B, we had no trouble finding the place. It appears to be a converted villa. Very old with rooms and corridors all over. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Our room with ensuite was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was adequate. This B&B is right in the middle of where you want to be in Venice. We walked everywhere or took the vaporetto (water bus). We would return there in a heart-beat. Great value for money.
