Guest Reviews
- Carin (10/5): Highly recommended - Amazing location - convenient to most everything. This was my first time staying in this part of Amsterdam and I can recommend Amsterdam4holiday as a comfortable place to return to during a business trip or a great central hub if you are wanting to tour this great city. The host is friendly and helpful. I was traveling solo this time for a five day business trip and felt quite safe. Highly recommend. I'd stay here again.
- B. (8/5): - The room was very cute, it’s very well located.
The shower’ steam was quite low and the window in the room hard to open/ close.
- Glyn (10/5): - great place to stay good area
- John (10/5): Great room, convenient to everything - I was very happy with my stay. The hotel is located off a small square next to the flower market. It was convenient to enerything in central Amsterdam. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The bath was on the small side but big enough and with a rain-shower style shower.
The only negatives are that it is very difficult to find (it's the white door with number 2), the only way to the rooms is via a steep staircase, and there was a lot of noise from the bars and restaurants in the square on Saturday night.
- Cansu (10/5): - The location was perfect. A little bit noisy but you can sleep comfortably.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Excellent location. Very close to nightlife, so was louder at night. This is more of a private bedroom than a hotel or bed and breakfast fyi. The host is very friendly and helpful!!
- Emily (10/5): Amsterdam With Love - This place was amazing. We loved the way the owner took time to make sure we were all set and comfortable before he left. The location was truly in the center of the city. Just perfect. It didnt feel like another hotel room but a cozy homey place that was great to come back to after a long day. Sue to the historical factor of the building there were stairs and no elevator. We would stay there again. Recommend this place to anyone that want the city at their finger tips. Bravo Zulu to the owner for sharing the best kept secret.
- Donna (8/5): Great busy little spot! - The host was lovely and accommodating.
The room was clean, stylish and great amenities. The area was busy , in the heart of Amsterdam. Close to everything.
The entrance was hard to find and very small with long narrow staircase. But that’s Europe and you have to be prepared for that in many places . I would highly recommend Amsterdam 4 holiday !!!
- Richard (6/5): Mixed Feelings about this place. - The Good: The host was very nice, helpful and informative. He carried all our bags up very steep stairs. He solved any issues promptly. The building is located near many tourist spots (Hermitage Museum, Flower Market, Hop On/Off Boat Stop, restaurants, shopping, etc). The bed was comfortable and our unit was a studio with living room, kitchen, bedroom and had a refrigerator, Stove, microwave, tv, cable and GREAT Fast Wi-Fi. The place was neat, clean and very well maintained.
The Bad: Although this place is named 'bed and BREAKFAST', there is NO breakfast. There is NO air conditioning. It was really hot during our stay and the host did bring in a fan. The window blinds are not allowed to be raised (even when you're home). The windows had to be locked closed when we were gone (even though we were on the second floor). So after a hot day, we came home to a very hot room. The place is located next to a very busy, LOUD street with many bars. One such dance club/bar doesn't open until 11 pm. Because there's no air conditioning, you almost have to sleep with the windows open which allowed the club/bar noise to dominate the room. Also, because there's no air conditioning, you almost have to sleep with the windows open, but there's NO SCREENS, so the bugs come flying into the room to munch on you at night. It was either bug bites or sweltering heat. We had dozens of bites in the morning. The bathroom was tiny, but from what
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was clean and well equipped. Easy to find and easy to check in.The only downside is the traditional steep stairs (but the host helped us up (and down) with our bags). Location is excellent for trams and or walking to attractions (is located right next to the flower markets, food and drinks). Almost perfect (and Ernesto should be proud - nothing was too much trouble for him).
- John (10/5): Awesome location and very comfortable - My wife’s only complaint was there was no kleenix. Great location and very comfortable bed. Shower was as big as the one at home
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location was rear, Amsterdam 4 B&B, was expecting breakfast
- Mattia (10/5): Very satisfied! - The bedroom is cozy and big enough for a couple, the bed is soooo comfortable! The private bathroom is great and have a large shower.
It is located in a very central position, everything is reachable within a 10 minutes walk and public transportation is at the end of the flower market (150m).
Ernesto is a very great and warm host, he truly knows how to welcome you! He speaks italian and spanish too, as well as english and dutch, so there is almost no reason to not book your holidays here!
Absolutely recommended.
Chambre spacieuse
- Nanda (8/5): Wonderful but watch out for the music festival - It was an almost wonderful stay. We arrived, after 25 hours air travel, on the second day of a 5 day music festival. That night we got no sleep due to techno music coming from the festival from about 1030 pm to 6 am. Fortunately the festival moves around Amsterdam so the following nights were fine. There was no shortage of things to see in the 4.5 days we were here.
- Anne (10/5): Best B&B - 5 STAR RATING!!!
We are very pleased and happy with our 2Nights/3Days stay! Highly recommended B&B in Amsterdam.
*The location is perfect. It is beside the bloemenmarkt (floating flower market) and walking distance to red district and the amsterdam Centraal. *The host, Sir Ernesto is very accommodating and helpful. *The rooms are spacious enough, beautifully decorated and very cozy with own Toilet&bath. Definitely worth the money!
- gael (8/5): bien situé - Bien situé
- Robert (10/5): Great Location. Great Owner. - Great Location. Owner is very nice and helpful. Room is very large and clean and nice. It is a walk up on the 3rd floor.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The host greeted us warmly and answered all questions. He offered recommendations of tourist sights to visit, directions in the area, restaraunts.....everything! Room was clean, wifi, coffee and tea with a small kitchenette- perfect for our stay! Would recommend to stay - downtown location very central .
- Elaine (10/5): Great room with superb location - I really enjoyed my stay at Amsterdam4holiday. The location was perfect, right alongside the quaint flower market and close to shopping, eating, beautiful sights, and the gorgeous canals. The room was spacious (especially by Amsterdam standards!) with good storage, a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, and had a massive and comfortable bed. We had use of the whole attic floor which included our own bathroom and the room was cleaned and tidied daily. Ernesto could not have been more helpful and even carried my ridiculously heavy luggage up and down the stairs. This was my first trip to Amsterdam and I hope to return again. I would be delighted to stay at Amsterdam4holiday again. The only possible thing I was concerned about were the narrow stairs but quickly got used to them and managed them well enough which was great as they are part of the building's charm.
- Steven (10/5): - This place was perfectly located for access everywhere in Amsterdam. It is only two units, so it is not really a hotel, per se, but the host is very accessible and helpful. The place was clean, spcacious and very nice. The only dowside was that a commercial building or a school or something is right across the small street and the lights stay on in that building all night long. The room has lovely black out curtains, but the light was a bit of a bummer. There was an impressive very steep flight of stairs up to the place, a very traditional Netherlands home. You get used to them quickly, but they are pretty wild.
- Andrea (10/5): Great place to stay - Excellent stay, the accommodation is lovely. Comfortable bed, spacious and clean. Ernesto and his niece were very friendly and helpful. It is in a great area within easy walking distance of all that we wanted to see. Many eating places around. The directions were slightly confusing because the restaurant next door has changed.
- Christiaan (10/5): Lovely cosy bed & breakfast in center - This is such a great bed & breakfast to visit Amsterdam! In the middle of the center, everything closeby and such nice comfortable room! Ernesto was so welcoming when checking in and helpfull with anything you need. Definitely will stay here again!
- Joanna (8/5): Nice hotel, great location - Really enjoyed our stay, comfortable and good sized room. We had the top floor to ourselves so plenty of space. It’s an old building so the old style fits in. Really good location, right by the flower market. Could easily walk to most tourist sights but the tram stop was nearby if your prefer. There was a funny smell coming from the fridge but I think that’s just because it had been turned off.
- Verified traveler (2/5): the worst place in my trip - No recomend for families, they not clean the room, no change towels in 4 days, I received internet password only in the third day. The big problem: people smoking marijuana in the first floor, and I have a child (3 years old).
- DP (8/5): Close to all must-see sights - Accommodation super. Great location. Staff very helpful. Own bathroom which was very clean and nice, but had to come out of room onto landing to get to it. Bed comfy. Only down side is a noisy night-club around the corner which played very loud music into the early hours.
- Ray (8/5): Very Nice - We loved Amsterdam and the hotel location was great. The hotel was pretty hard to find since the hotel sign is about 4 X 20 INCHES, on a green door. We were taken back at first but the room was nice and modern. There aren't any lifts so the trip up and down 4 flights of very steep stairs was a little bit of work. If you are fat or old, it may be a problem! Overall we loved the room and location. The manager was great and very helpful!
- EG (6/5): Nice hotel location - The hotel is located conveniently close to tram lines and major tourist attractions. However, there's clubs/bars nearby that are popular with younger crowd, so it would get very loud at night. We only stayed for 2 nights, and both nights the partying would continue until 3-4 am. The other thing to mention is that this is a 16-century building, and the stairs in this building are very steep, with sharp turns, so beware if you're bringing a large heavy suitcase.
- Carita (10/5): Nice location, friendly manager - Splendid location besides the flower market. Small building, only three rooms (one per floor) if I understood correctly, so very peaceful. Our bathroom was outside our room, but actually it did not bother us because there were no people wandering around. The manager of the hotel, Marius, was very friendly and easy going. I forgot some clothes to the cabinet, and he sent them to me in Finland :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Amsterdam - Well sited close to everything. Not a hotel but a B&B without the breakfast. Helpful & friendly.
- Sparkling Sol (8/5): Great location for a good price - Location is fantastic. Easy walk to all direction. Easy tram access is a plus.
This hotel is more like an apt rental than a hotel. No lobby, no security or amanity.
The bathroom is outside of the room which was a bit uncomfortable.
Quiet and clean street side. Good deal for a short stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): comfortable room in a great location - The host was very helpful in getting us settled in and made us feel very welcome in the comfortable, spacious, and clean room. Outside is a quiet plaza but the adjacent streets buzz with fun nightlife and the beautiful flower market. Only a short walk from the Tram stops and just feet from the canal, this is a wonderful location. Just watch those steep Dutch steps!
- Anna (10/5): Loistava sijainti - Amsterdam4Holiday sijaitsee aivan huippupaikalla. Raitiovaunupysäkiltä lyhyt kävelymatka. Siisti, pieni huone. Omistaja ystävällinen ja palvelualtis. Voin suositella!
- The Keeneys (10/5): - Charming view of the flower market and sounds of a lovely chiming tower from the next block. Perfect central old town location within 10-30 minutes walking distance of shops, restaurants, museums, and central train station. Easy access to downtown tram. Immaculate and romantically cozy. Stairs to climb to & from the room; owner will assist with luggage. We loved it.
- John and Emma Hughes (10/5): Great weekend - A lovely room and perfect for what we were looking, a central base for wandering about the city. A bit noisy on the Friday night, but it's Amsterdam for God's sake! If we wanted a silence we'd have gone to Connemara. Marius was very obliging and personable. Couldn't recommend more.
- Sanna (8/5): Great Hotel in the middle of everything - The room was quite clean and it had everything we needed. The bathroom was great. There was some noise from the square just next to the hotel, but you got used to it quite quickly. The service was great. The location of the hotel is excellent, everything is near.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Amsterdam4Holiday - Great location in the centre of Amsterdam beside the Flower Market. Close to tram, shops, bars and restaurants. Room was spacious and clean and had flatscreen TV with all the stations. We were on the top floor (3rd) so it was a bit of a hike up steep stairs but if you don't mind stairs it shouldn't put you off. I would def recommend this accomadation if you are looking for good value in a nice location in Amsterdam.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Amsterdam4Holiday - One guy meeting us outside. seems happy but when you ask for something he's not service minded at all. This is a waste of money . No light in the room not clean .
- Nikolaus (10/5): - The room was very clean and the staff very friendly. The rooms are nice, the bathroom big. It is 15 minutes away from the Central station und you can walk to all sights very fast. Next time I would stay there again.
- Jim (10/5): Great stay - Excelent location, very nice room, attention to detail. I would definitely stay here next time!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good cheaper option near town centre - Rooms were clean and good place to stay close to town centre.
- Adrian (10/5): Very nice B&B - We had a very nice stay! The room was nicely furnished and comfortably big for 2 people. (The staircase is pretty small because the building is so old, so it might be more difficult for older people.) The location is very good, right in the middle, we could walk everywhere. There is a little square in front of the building which makes it lively but can be noisy at times (but that was not too much of a problem). In any case, I can definitely recommend this place.
- Cinq-Mars (8/5): Really nice and clean room. - The corner street are really noisy at night... but it looks like that everything is over after 1 am. But Amsterdam... It's a party place... so you should expected that. We have to pay cash... a bit annoying...
