Guest Reviews
- Annabelle (10/5): - Staff was lovely, room was comfortable.
- scott (2/5): - Very disappointing
- Thomas (8/5): - If the shower does not turn on, pull the string hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom. First time I have ever seen this.
- Iulia (6/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful.
However, the room was not that clean. The shower was a little dirty in some places (the shower hose) and the mug that was left in our room was dirty as well, with lipstick and coffee stains. However, the bed was comfortable.
- Hoover (4/5): - Although this is stated as a bed and breakfast, it’s really a hostel. I thought I had a shared shower only but everything g was shared. I stayed at room in the back of the building and people in the adjacent property talked so much so loud all night, I couldn’t sleep for 2 nights. Room had no closet space so had to just live out of luggage. I would have let paid more for the improv e accommodations, if I’d known. But all the staff was nice.
- Christopher (10/5): - Loved the staff, stairs to climb but an overall great experience, very close to downtown
- Marina (4/5): Not the cleanest stay - The room was big and spacious but dirty. The bathroom was average clean, the floors were dusty. The room lacked good curtains or blinds and it was hard to go to sleep at the proper time when it was still light outside (10pm). The kettle to boil water was terribly dirty. The mattresses were really uncomfortable.
- Lynne (10/5): - Lovely staff - friendly, kind, and helpful.
- Marcello (4/5): - Very small room. Shared bathroom.
- Jem (10/5): - Very reasonable guest house. Affordable for Dublin.
- Barrett (2/5): - I've stayed in a lot of hotels in my life, and this is probably the worst one. I paid nearly 500 euro for two nights, which was a massive scam considering the condition of the place and the fact that there are some nice hotels up on Parnell Street going for half the price that are ten times as nice and have actual accommodations. Upon entering the room I immediately noticed black mold, water damage on the walls, and questionable stains on my bed and mattress. My room was on the first floor and the bathroom was shared with toilet and shower in separate rooms. The toilet was dirty. There is nowhere to put your things, like a toiletry bag, by the sink and the automated soap dispenser can be easily triggered spewing soap on your things. There is no towel rack or hand towel in the toilet, with only tissues on offer, which were out by the second night. There are also no shelves in the shower, a weird crusty bottle of Head and Shoulders for soap, mysterious scrapes all over the shower floor, and the shower sounds like a jet taking off when you turn it on. I was too grossed out to use it. Maybe most offensive was the kettle situation in my room: I paused when I noticed white crusty residue along its exterior, and I'm glad I checked the inside before using it because it was full of pink mildew and mold. Dusty tattered carpet with tears and cuts in it. Can't control the heat from the ancient radiator in the room. This place should be delisted from Expedia and condemned.
- Alexander (8/5): - OK
- Marci (10/5): great stay - we stayed there twice now.
good area.
clean rooms and friendly staff.
- Marci (10/5): Wonderful staff - cozy hotel - The most polite and kind staff in my 15 years of international travel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room is in an ideal location off Gardiner St. and near Mountjoy Square. It is very nice and I have stayed there at least twice before and will always check if it is available when staying in Dublin, since the price is very good too.
- Kofi (10/5): - Very nice
- James (8/5): - Nice stay in good area
- Tanya (10/5): - Was a nice stay, not my cup of tea to share a shower and toilet but we needed a place to stay asap and tbh it was quite cozy. Old, but cozy and clean.
- Paul (10/5): - Super cozy, friendly and central location
- Kristjan (10/5): - Nice rooms and quiet place.
- Jude (10/5): Relaxing Sleepover at Lyndon House. - Had a short and relaxing sleepover at Lyndon House. Excellent hospitality from the front desk team. Clean room and bathroom at a great rate!.
- John (8/5): - Excellent location to enjoy all that Dublin had to offer. Very friendly staff.
- Robs (4/5): - My room smelled of cigarette smoke, and the bedsheets felt dingy. The location was within walking distance of nice areas, but multiple people told me the neighborhood wasn't safe and warned me to be careful walking there especially after dark. There was some kind of metal gate outside my window which people were using frequently and it was extremely loud. Dublin is an expensive city, but saving money by staying here was absolutely not worth it.
- john (8/5): - For the price a great little b&b. Only a few minutes walk from several pubs and 10 minutes from downtown Dublin. The rooms are small but clean and the beds are quite comfortable. Only shared a bathroom with one other room which was great.
- Gosse (8/5): - Small hotel, near a park. Excellent staff at the counter
- Cindy (4/5): - The area around the property wasn’t the best, which made me feel a bit uneasy. As for the room, it had a strong stale odor, possibly from being a smoking room, even though I wasn’t informed of this when booking. The size of the room was also disappointing—it felt cramped and uncomfortable.
Adding to the frustration, the TV remote didn’t work, and I had trouble locking the door from the outside, which made me feel less secure. While it was a budget option, the stay did not meet my basic expectations for comfort.
- Irene (8/5): - The location was good, it’s a few blocks off the main road. The hotel was clean, staff were nice but the hotel was old and didn’t have any amenities.
- Brian (10/5): Great location - Clean and comfortable with no refills. Great location. Lovely staff.
- Caleb (8/5): - Very kind staff
- Jacqueline (8/5): - This was a great option for Dublin. Easy 15 minute walk to the downtown. No breakfast - I think you buy that at a nearby eatery, so label as “Bed and Breakfast” isn’t exactly what you think. Excellent location for getting from and to airport on bus. A very quiet room. Small, but worked well. Shared bathroom was spotless.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No breakfast offered wen its a b+b on sign , room dirty and cobwebs ..
Bathroom clean , no toilet paper . Room never worth the money .
Friendly staff .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel was conveniently located in the city. The room was small but comfortable and clean there was no breakfast available even though that was adverstised
- John (10/5): - Building had a lot of character
- John (4/5): - No breakfast and for what we paid you would have expected it. In a really bad part of the town (told by taxi driver) to never come to this area again because of drugs problems. Very basic conditions.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Exorbitant price for low quality conditions - I would rate it -1 had it not be the friendly staff. I hate every bit of it and worst of all is the price! For 2 nights I paid more than 500 euros!
First morning we arrived at 9:40am, rang the bell at the front desk and nobody showed up. We waited for over 10 mins until a girl showed up and told us the room would be ready by 12pm. She asked if we wanted to upgrade the room from shared bathroom to a room with its own bathroom. Then she looked at the book and said never mind it was booked. Duh!
Then when we got our room, it was shockingly bad. Stained carpet, small room that doesn’t even have a chair, dirty bed linens, the window was facing the street that any minute of the night we heard people talking loudly as they walked pass. The towels in the room never dry up. The coffee kettle looks dusty.
The bathroom is worse as the toilet and shower room are separated. Shower room is pathetically small that has no place to hang or place anything! Not even a trash can! Only one bottle of gel for everything. The toilet is the same, no shelves or hangers. The sink has a hot tap and cold tap separated with a sink in the middle that has no stopper. So wash your face in hot or cold water, just not warm. The hand soap is placed in the middle with automatic dispenser, so can’t even put things there without worrying about triggering the soap.
The hallway always has the fire door open for ventilation, but seems unsafe if there’s a separate entrance without guards.
- Jonathan (8/5): Nice place to stay - This was a nice and basic place to stay. Nothing fancy, but had no real complaints either. I would re-book this place in the future
- Steven (10/5): - Budget friendly, clean and warm welcoming.
- Hugh (10/5): - Exactly what I needed and good value. Area is “Rough”, so be careful and get a cab to the venue from town.
- David (4/5): - When booking, I accepted this is a hotel at the more budget end of the market and was just expecting a basic no frills stay. Unfortunately the standard didn't justify the 80 Euro price, which I don't consider overly cheap.
The biggest problem was the awful mattress which was old, shot and extremely uncomfortable. I could feel various springs sticking into me throughout, which were too many to avoid. Consequently I had a very poor sleep.
I don't mind if an accommodation is basic but the minimum expectation would be to be able to get a good sleep.
When checking out the following morning, there was no one at reception to discuss the issue / provide feedback.
- Rory (10/5): - Very conveniently located and fantastic staff who let us check in early as our flight got in at 7am. We always felt us and our belongings were safe at all times. Would recommend.
- Simon (8/5): Lyndon House is a good spot. - I only stayed here one Saturday night. I was a bit worried because of some of the previous reviews. However, it was almost perfect for my purpose. It was very clean and cheap. There was no noise the night stayed. There are some nice places toneat nearby. Previous reviews bemoaned that it was a 'rough area', probably because there are many non Irish natives living there, but I thought it had a real charm and there wasn't a hint of feeling threatened. Its just at the northern fringe of the city center so i walked everywhere. I had little interaction with the staff but they were pleasant. My room didn't have a toilet or shower in it, otherwise I would give it 6 stars. Some may consider the room on the small side but it was perfectly adequate for me. All in, I would definitely stay here again as it was a massive upgrade and cheaper than a single room in a hostel.
- Tracy (10/5): - They were very accommodating!
- Daniel (8/5): - This was a very nice B&B, but they "upgraded" us to a room on the first floor. It was right on the street and we heard people talking outside for half of the night. Other than that, it was a very nice place. Comfortable and spacious. I recommend it, but get an upstairs room at the back if possible.
- Bruce (6/5): - The staff are the very best thing about the property. The room was ridiculously small with no storage for clothes nor place to open suitcases. There was almost no room to stand. Share bathroom / shower were very clean, but no place to put anything in the shower. I literally had to put my glasses on the floor…come on. It was loud at night outside…property is on an alley street where at all hours, people would gather and talk and smoke. Not good.
- Stephen (2/5): - 1. Property website clearly states as does your posting on Expedia “Daily English breakfast available for a fee:EUR 12 for adults and EUR 8 for children”
Manager’s Response - “ Hi please check again , no breakfast service at property but you can get breakfast at corner cafe shop about 10euro .”
2. Designated smoking areas (Fines apply)
My Comment - All we smell is smoke and o eople are smoking in their rooms and on the fire exit which is blowing right in to my room AND the Expedia listing states Non-Smoking
3. Free Wi-Fi
My Comment - It is PAINFULLY slow!
4. Grocery/Convenience Store
My Comment - Offering a few drinks and candies does NOT qualify
Manager’s Response - “ If you need any thing differently, please goto the shop ( outside door turn left and about 100metre)”
My Comment - Advertising a store but then suggesting to go down the street is false advertising
Our first night here, there were people partying on the emergency escape after 01:30!
Our second night was not quite as loud but same thing!
If you are looking for a place that is one step above a hostel, this could work for you but if you are looking for anything other than a place to sleep which will be very difficult due to the partying and loud noises, I HIGHLY suggest you look elsewhere!
- Grzegorz (10/5): -
.
- Michelle (8/5): - location very central
- ELIZABETH (4/5): - This was a very tiny room. The restroom is on the hallway. I am glad that we stayed only one night. The staff was amazing 👏 .
- Rodrigo (6/5): - Bad area. Dirty!
- James (8/5): Weekend stay - We stayed for rhe weekend good location clean enough for us i would stay here again
- silvia (8/5): Good location, ok for a short stay. - Very convenient location, minutes to airport bus stops, walking distance to the Spire and Temple bar. Kind staff. But the place needs some beautifying and remodeling - the faucets of the bathroom sink are the old style- separate for hot and cold water which makes washing hands an unpleasant experience! Having said that, I would definitely return.
- Deborah (10/5): - Courteous and helpful staff. Very clean and convenient.
- Ross (8/5): - Nice staff, clean and safe. the neighborhood is a bit gentrified but Mt Joy Park is right around the corner and just a few blocks from upper OConnell St. so the location is pretty good. Accomodations were very comfortable.
- Diane (6/5): - Location was excellent. Staff was attentive. Disappointed that small room was so full of bed there was no room for table or chair; TV did not work; was not able to re-charge phone or I-pad. Basement room was clean, but chilly; street noise. Certainly adequate for recovering from an all- night flight; but I’ve been in nicer rooms for less money.
- STEPHEN (8/5): - Good service
- Cherie (4/5): - When we reserved the room, we were told we had a bathroom "en suite" but were given a room with a shared bathroom. The room appeared to be clean, but it had a musty smell which was very unappealing. In the hallways, they used some sort of strong air scent to try to cover the musty smell, but it made it even worse. For almost $200 a night, it was NOT WORTH the money.
- Mark and Sage (6/5): - It wasn’t a good value amount of money we paid
- BLENIA SILVESTINA (8/5): Overall Good - Positive: Very close to the city, clean and friendly staff.
Negative: hair dryer was not working. Costly, should atleast provide breakfast and drinking water bottle.
- John (10/5): Comfy for a quick stay! - The staff at Lyndon House were friendly and helpful, the suite was comfy and well sized. The bed was a little soft but overall for the price and it being in a great area to get around Dublin it was great!
It also looks newly decorated or perhaps just well looked after.
- Alexa (10/5): - Really great stay! Everyone was so helpful and kind. Nice small place to stay pretty close to lots of sights.
