Vatican City etc, well worth the stay .Pricing terrific especially for families .Thankyou very much
- rohit84 (10/5): Comfy start to our Italian adventure - A lovely hotel in the heart of Rome. We loved our 3 nights at this hotel. A little different from regular hotels but then again a nice experience. The team at the hotel were really sweet and helped us with planning our trip , giving us safety tips . We were 15 min from the colosseum & 25 min from other points of interest . Absolutely recommend this hotel if your in Rome . We would definitely come back again !!!
- Roving09279261976 (10/5): Definitely recommend! - Just got back from a lovely short trip in Rome, staying at the Domus Caracalla. The hotel is in an ideal location- ten minutes from the colosseum. The room we stayed in was very clean, and had a nice balcony that has the sun all day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing a map and giving lots of great recommendations of places to go and see and eat. Overall it was very good value for money.
I would definitely recommend staying here when visiting Rome.
- 542dawnf (10/5): A fantastic place to stay. - We stayed for a couple of nights and were greeted with a warm welcome. Fantastic hospitality and a lovely breakfast served on the veranda every morning. The owner was also very helpful with information on local restaurants.
The location is close to the circus maximus and Colosseum and a short walk to the other attractions.
The hotel was also in a retro block complete with an internal courtyard and original lift which addd to The character.
The room was very spacious and clean.
We Would recommend this hotel. Thankyou for a lovely stay.
- KellyF351 (10/5): A beautiful little gem! - A little hidden gem close to the Colosseum! Our room was clean, has all the amenities one could want and the breakfast was delicious! Aircon, comfy bed, toiletries and a great terrace off our room where we ate breakfast. I would definitely recommend! ❤️
- sheilasU2308IP (10/5): A long stay - We stayed for 11 nights and it was delightful. Portia and here team were helpful bit not intrusive. Breakfast was brought to us everyday with the coffee of our choice and varied in contents. A great team in a great location.
- Tourist34568531617 (10/5): High Recommendation - Very willing staff gonna advise you with signs visiting (more than you can find on your smartphone) and provide very pleasant breakfast delivery to your room on time, as you wish. Clean and cozy. Definitely gonna get accommodated, come back to Rome! :)
- Flyer03395420849 (8/5): great place to stay - As a family of 4 we were looking for a affordable place to stay in Rome and this was the perfect place. It was a very clean B&B, bathroom daily cleaned, beds made. In winter a bid cold to have breakfast outside on the balcony, but nevertheless very charming. Breakfast provided with local food and different every morning, nicely presented.
Place in walking distance from Colloseo and all the great sights easy to reach with only one bus line without having to change buses.
The landlady was very very friendly and gave great advise on things to see and how to get there. Excellent English and easy to communicate with.
Hope that we will go back again someday.
- Jahody (8/5): Clean Apartment - Good for family with kids. - For most of our time in Rome we stayed at Domus Caracalla. It is about a twenty minute walk from the Colosseum. There are several restaurants in this area and we recommend stopping at one of the first one's you come to - closer to Caracalla and farther from the Colosseum - unless you want something Italian "quick." There is a bus route near by, but we found it quite confusing as the same numbered bus did not seem to take the same route each time. There is also an option of walking to a metro - we recommend taking the alleys and side-streets to get there. It appears a new stop may be going in closer to the bed and breakfast sometime in the future.
One of the best things about this place is the breakfast. It is a very fresh breakfast brought to the door at a pre-arranged time (between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.) each morning. Our breakfast included hard-boiled eggs, croissants, bread, red-orange juice, coffee, tea, and yogurt. It was our best Bed & Breakfast meal while in Italy! We were able to eat it out on the patio in the morning and it was very refreshing. Be sure to let the owner know in advance of arrival any food sensitivities, allergies, or food preferences.
It is also nice that your room is cleaned every day. So make sure to tidy up a bit before you leave your room.
Accessing the apartment can be a bit tricky, so you want to make sure to prearrange your arrival time. Once you enter the building you will pass through the front part of apartments - up and down a few steps - to the inner courtyard. You'll walk through the courtyard, then up a few steps to enter the back half of the building. From there you'll use a typical Italian elevator - small. Make sure to close both doors before selecting the floor.
Domos Caracalla is an apartment with about four rooms. This would be a great place to stay as a family with children as there are several room options that include both king size beds and twin beds. Our first room had one king and then a separate twin in a little room off of the main room and a second twin next to the king. If you are staying as a couple, I would request the room with the private balcony, but be warned it is a smaller room.
The bathroom is a typical Italian bathroom. (Typical Italian = Toilet + bidet. Hair dryer. Smaller toilet paper rolls. No facial tissues or wash cloths. European style bath towels. - They are full body, although a bit thinner than what you would find in the U.S. Not much counter space.) It does include multi-purpose soap, shower caps, hair dryer, and even a shoe sponge. Your shoes get quite dirty in Rome!
The television is quite small, about the size of a lap-top screen.
It is a relatively quiet place to stay other than the sound of the ambulance from the hospital next door.
The owner is very helpful in suggesting places to visit and times of day to do so. Be sure to plan time in to your plans to visit with her in the morning before leaving for your days activities.
Overall the hostess was great and Domus Caracalla was a nice place to stay.
- choirgirl107 (8/5): Good choice if you want to self cater some of the time. - We enjoyed our stay at this B & B which is located on the 6th floor of a residential block of flats in a quiet residential area but (for us) only a 10 minute uphill walk to the Coliseum. The 714 bus located in the bus station in front of Roma Termini main station drops you within a three minute walk from the B & B and will only cost 1 Euro 50 cents - much cheaper than a taxi! Reception is not manned after 3pm but we had notified them at the time of booking that we'd arrive between 3 and 4pm and the very helpful lady receptionist was there to greet us. We stayed in the Studio Apartment which was large and had a comfortable bed, well equipped kitchenette and small bathroom and a balcony where you could have breakfast. We tried breakfast one day but as my husband is a diabetic, there was too much sweet stuff on the menu for him ie. jam, Nutella, fruit yoghurt and mini muffin, so the next day, as we had use of the kitchenette, he was able to have eggs which we purchased at a local supermarket. Our only complaints about the apartment were that the décor seemed rather tired and could do with refreshing and the loo was rather smelly. Overall though, if we visit to Rome again, we'd happily stay there.
- ioanav791 (10/5): Excellent accommodation - Without doubt the favourite hotel we stayed in during our time in Italy! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the the reception personnel. They were incredibly helpful and generous with their time and advice: offered us a map, presented the main tourist attractions and explained how to get there by public transport. The hotel is located closely to a bus station, in a nice and quiet area of Rome. Also, the rooms are very clean and the breakfast is served in the room. Great experience, we highly recommend Domus Caracalla!
- dpryme285410 (10/5): It was a pleasure to stay in that apartment. - The administrator is very kind woman. The room is clean and tidy with beautiful balcony. The location is perfect. It was easy to find it. At night it wasn't noisy. The breakfests were very deliicious.
- M4821JUrichardg (10/5): Fantastic place to stay in Rome - We were so well looked after, the lady that prepares breakfast is wonderful we’ve never been as well looked after. She showed us where to visit, even gave us bus tickets and the best advice. She really made our stay. My little boy absolutely adored her.
You are quite close to the Coliseum which is about 10 minutes walk away, but from the end of the street you can get the 81 bus which covers all the main sites so the apartment is in a really great spot too.
Highly recommended and when we go back this will be the only place we look to book.
- T5734ORchrisc (10/5): Delightful Place - What a wonderful place with a sweet host. Breakfast served on the balcony. Comfortable beds. Wifi. Big bathroom. All just 15 min walk from the Colosseum. We loved it here. We had a room with 4 people and it was great. I will come back.
- jeby1 (8/5): Excellent price and location - This place was an absolute gem! It is located in a pretty unassuming location only 15 or so minutes from the Colosseum. The daily breakfast was scrumptious each and every time and was served with a great smile. The staff were very helpful and easy to contact outside of normal business hours. The only reason it dosen't get 5 stars is because our room, especially the bathroom, was pretty cramped for three people. We had to share a full size bed and a twin among three of us.
- WMC87 (10/5): Friendly, clean, local - From the outside, it doesn't look like it would be a great place to stay but inside it is really nice. Attentive staff, delicious breakfast served in our room at a time specified by us, and a nice quiet place to stay. Rooms were really clean, perfect quality and the shower was AMAZING! Walking distance from the Colosseum, but away from the hubbub - was really nice to walk past it every day when it was quiet.
We didn't get a room with a balcony but would opt for that in future as it would be great to eat breakfast outside in the sun. Mini fridge in room which we kept topped up with snacks and water.
Lots of nice places to eat and visit nearby. Would definitely return
