Guest Reviews
- Andreas (10/5): - Simple but very clean hotel in a good central location between the Mercado 28 and the Parque de las Palapas, both in easy walking distance.
The wifi in our room was strong and stable and the water pressure in the shower was good. Staff were friendly.
- Nizami (10/5): - Good place
- serdar (8/5): - Good budget hotel; it was clean. The WiFi signal was weak in the room, so it occasionally stopped working.
- Nizami (10/5): - Good
- Ali (6/5): - Not really good for pleasure visits.
- Ali (6/5): - Clean but very basic.
- nifran (10/5): - Close to market 23 where there are many great shops to get gifts at the best prices.
- Isabel (2/5): - Staff would come in my room while I wasn’t there. Then called the cops on me when I called them out for it and had me exploited out of 5,000 pesos and STILL DIDNT GIVE MY MONEY BACK FOR THE STAY. DO NOT STAY HERE!
- Larry (10/5): - Clean and quiet.
- America (8/5): - Great stay although I asked for a blanket because I saw they had blankets and they stated I couldn’t have a blanket. Also ticks bit me at night no bueno.
- David Read (10/5): - Inexpensive hotel located in Downtown Cancun, easy walk to Mercado 28 and Parque de las Palapas. Parking stall are very small so don’t rent a large car. Was quiet enough for being on a Main Street.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice quiet location - Quiet location, not much happening in this area unlike hotel zone. So for any activity or active night life etc, you need to travel to some place by walking to ado bus terminal and catching buses from there. But nice places to eat nearby like satyam, bao vegan, 100% natural.
- M (6/5): - More information on front desk
- Robert (10/5): - Anna at the front desk is always the best.
- Joseph (10/5): - Great place to stay. Highly recommended
- Alvaro (10/5): - Everything was perfect, but I have to note that the staff has exceed my expectations. They take the effort to make of your stay a remarkable experience. Thanks boys and girls !
- Edgar (10/5): - Staff & service nice people
- Patrick (6/5): - This is a tough one to grade. In one hand it was clean, safe, comfortable, great staff, pretty close to transit and good value. On the other hand sink plugged (which was fixed the next day), I wouldn’t look under the sheets cause the mattress really has to go, room phone doesn’t not work(line is dead), safe box not working and when I mentioned it I was told “none of them work” and the area, not the most upscale. Very run down. Would I stay there again? hmmmmm, not really.
- Robert Joseph (10/5): - Just a good vibe for me. But they don't speak a lot of English so not for everybody. I love the locals. Everything is half the price or more downtown compared to the beach area.
- Daniel A (6/5): The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly - First, the good. Exceptional cleanliness. Staff continually clean every surface. Reception staff are welcoming and you can expect assistance from them for most things required. The hotel's location is very good and is only minutes walk away from any number of places to eat as well as a centro market where hundreds of vendors set up shop daily. Hotel rates are reasonable and they do have a restaurant open for breakfast daily where you can find offerings over a broad price range.
The Bad: The place truly is a noise box and the management does little to control loud talk in the hallways or lobby which transfers to the rooms because of the tile floors which act like echo chambers. This can go on sometimes into the wee hours of the morning because alot of guests are just plain inconsiderate or because they don't control their kids who are just naturally loud. The hotel posts signs that are meant to remind guests to be quiet and considerate but these do little to alleviate the situation if management doesn't act when necessary.
The Ugly: The water saver toilets installed in the rooms are pretty inefficient. It appears most of the rooms have had some upgrades to shower heads and sinks but really they need a better sanitary toilet system.
- Mounisha (4/5): - The hotel was good but we had a problem with Wi-Fi, there was no Internet for 4 days. We felt it very difficult for us to be with out Internet. The staff didn’t respond properly.
- CRAIG (6/5): - This hotel could not have been in a more perfect location for why we were there. We could walk everywhere. There were close restaurants, banks, etc.
The hotel restaurant did not look very inviting so we didn’t use it.
The website promised English speaking staff but that was not always the case and was difficult.
The hotel room was very clean!!!
- Jason (4/5): - This hotel is for people looking for a cheap and simple place to stay/ sleep. The bathroom is in my single was tiny, dirty ceilings in shower area, not one piece of art on the walls, A/C in room worked fine. Daily you have to go into lobby for reset your room key. Pain in ass, I stayed there due to me being in area for dental work, it fit my simple needs of bed and shower. This is not a relaxing hotel by any stretch of the imagination. Full size bed mattress was extremely uncomfortable. The surrounding area is nice, it’s safe, and plenty of places to eat, “Mercado 28” is a block away. Plenty shopping. Staff was nice but as other reviewers stated they spoke lil English. Overall I’d rate this place a 2 for comfort/ 3 for convenience 3 for staff and cleanliness, they did come change bed daily. It’s a cheap place to sleep that’s it.
- William (6/5): - Location is ok, staff is good , no hot water , breakfast good but not included .safe area
- marco (10/5): - Perfect
- James Leslie (10/5): - Staff very friendly and polite. Room very nice ( clean) . Bathroom good shower and towels plenty. TV worked good and lots of closet space. Breakfast room opened at seven and good menu and good food and drinks. Staff polite aswell. Good parking indoors. Only problem card door locks failed consistently .had to make many fustrating trips down stairs to get card charged and still may not work again. I believe frustrated the front desk workers aswell but they kept smiling. I left my room for several days with a lot of my belongings in the room . Nothing was disturbed only the maid made visits to check if room was ok for cleaning . Felt very reassured with the staff. Overal a nice place to stay. Great for shopping and Resteraunt’s very handy. Staff can recommend all the food types you may like at different places. I believe my friends from Belize enjoyed the hotel as much as I .Jake
- Richard (8/5): - It’s quite even though it’s beside the road i had the comfortable to relax and sleep. And it’s very affordable to me.
- Yuval (2/5): - WORST "HOTEL" I ever stayed in, STAY AWAY!!! I came to the reception and had to wait for a long while because the recepcionist was super slow. When my turn came I realised she was also unfirendly. I was told that the hotel policy is that even though I paid for a room with capacity of 2 people I am not allowed to bring guests for "secuirty reasons". Anyway, I went to my room and took a shower. While I was taking a shower I heard horribly loud knocks at my door. I dressed up quickly just to find out an employe of the hotel who had no English. He just comanded me with his hand to move to the next room. I decided I am not going to argue. Right after that bizzare incident I went outside and only came back at night. Then I realized that they were moving me to a room with an extremely noisy AC...I couldnt sleep all night because it was either too hot without AC or too noisey with AC. First thing I did in the morning was telling the reception about the noisey AC and asking them to either fix it or move me to another room. I was told that the maintainance guy was not there today and that there are no rooms availabile. I checked up on Expedia just to figure out there were many rooms availabile, including 4 rooms of my exact standard.
I showed the recepcionist that there are many rooms availabile but instead of asking for apologey for her ugly lies she just avoided me. She even deactivated my room key and only activated it after she relaised it was one step too far. STAY AWAY!!!
- neeta (4/5): Uncomfortable. - Hastily constructed hotel. Poor plumbing. Hardly any furniture.
- Raul (2/5): awful attention - horrible customer service, the receptionist was always angry giving awful attention to customers, they didn’t even allow to have guests, the room was noisy, very small and quite expensive for what it has to offer. please do no stay here
- Juan (6/5): - Little maintenance will do good to the rooms. They had to change out room because the window wouldn’t close. However they moved from 2nd floor to third floor. Which is a pain because there’s no elevator.
- Daviel Y (10/5): - It worked for my needs.
- RICHARD (6/5): A place to sleep - The room had good internet and hot water from shower. You would capture my attention to stay there if the price was 20% lower (and/or was reduced for a stay of 2 weeks or longer). The security safe also did not work, and aircon controller battery was almost at 0%. The room and reception were very clean. In summary, the hotel was unimpressive for the price.
- Lawrence (2/5): - I the closeness of Market 28 was great.
The room was very small and the entire building is a loud noise box. Voices from the reception area travel to the rooms. The proximity of the rooms are so close conversations can be heard.
I NEVER had my sheets changed by the room service attandant during my 3 day stay. I changed them myself. I would NEVER recommend someone to stay there.
- Gerardo (8/5): - I liked the cleanliness, convenient location - close to the terminal 10 min. I liked everything overall...
- Verified traveler (2/5): - they checked us into a room where the toilet didn't flush unless you tried flushing multiple times, the sink faucet was broken, we had to hold the faucet in place, to turn it on and off, the room was extra small as was the beds. they were not able to accomendate us with a functioning room so we had to book a stay at another place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked everything about Suites Gaby. The room and common areas were impeccably clean. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. The housekeeping was perfect. The hotel is right at Mercado 28 and a short walk to Parque de las Palapas. I recommend Suites Gaby and will stay there again on my next trip to Cancun.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Attentive staff who made the language barrier all but disappeared.
- Alberto (10/5): Very clean and comfortable !!! - Great hotel for the price. Very clean and comfortable in the center with good breakfast.
- chester v (10/5): - The front staff are very helping and friendly
- Manuel (10/5): - When i got to the hotel i was greeted by the hostess ...in a very nice manner. The hotel is very clean !! ..
And comfortable . Exelent place ...for the price !!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bathroom is too small, and there are no hooks inside to hang clothes. There’s no elevator as well, had to carry our luggage to the room on the third floor. The room is clean and the staff is fairly helpful, the breakfast is not included but the hotel restaurant is not too bad.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small hotel that fit perfectly on my short trip to Cancun, staff is polite, hotel clean and has very good location.
- Raj (8/5): - Everything was good. I stayed 7 nights, Shower water was very slow requested many times but did not fix it.
But it’s specific to me, other than this, everything was good and I would strongly recommend to everyone. Even If I get a chance again, will book this hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No frills. Basic room. Very clean and friendly. Price is very inexpensive. No problems.
- Chris (2/5): Fleas, blood stained sheets, mosquitos, - Fleas in room, blood stained sheets, mosquitos in common areas. Was not changed room, instead room was fumigated by staff with RAID and was sprayed all over my belongings while A/C was on. Hotel seemed empty yet they had no available rooms. Was forced to sleep in room full of RAID. Must be family operated or they have two sisters working admin, the one who received me at check in was the older one and the next morning, a younger sibling. They looked almost identical. The one who received me had no problem telling me bold faced lies, not the conduct I expect coming from a hospitality service/business. Not a reservation I want to remember.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly staff and very good location, this is mu favorite hotel while visiting cancun.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cozy environment close to the center of Valladolid, friendly helpfull staff, thank you!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loud noise and not very friendly staff
What I liked was that it was in a good area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked the secure parking, strong WiFi connection, comfortable bed, and the air conditioner worked great. I am very satisfied for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel is SUPER CLEAN! As soon as you walk into the building, you smell and see the cleanliness. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
- Dmitry (2/5): It was a nightmare - All the good stories start similarly. You get a room with someone else's clothes in it. What for the clerk to finish talking to everyone else and, finally, giving you a second. To replace the room in am empty hotel it took them 20 min.
Next, do not expect that your car will be parked where you left it. They request your keys and move it around all the time.
The room keys did not work. We waited for the service me to replace the lock. A hint, the keys worked less than 30% of the time after that.
The room is rather nice, if you are not bothered by the AC leaking onto your head during the night. The rotten bedboard (due to leak) is an interesting art concept.
Water flow in the shower was weak... Am I picky?
Finally, when we checked out we had to wait for them to check the towels. Finally, we were charged for a mango spot on one of the towels. They charged us 10$ (US dollars) for a penny towel.
Never again. I do not recommend!!!!!!
- Aymee (6/5): - Overall I'm not satisfied with this hotel customer service, I had a reservation for 2 single rooms but instead I was given 2 standard rooms which is fine but on the last night of my short stay (3 nights) I was told that I have to change the rooms to a single rooms which I think is not acceptable due to the low occupancy of the hotel. I tried many times to reach the hotel manager but apparently he wasn't available for my entire stay. I will never comeback to this hotel due to the poor customer service
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy check in, friendly staff, comfortable beds, safe, and a safe garage for the car
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff at the front desk and also very close to the mercado great location
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Helpful staff ,very clean, close to market 28 and bus station short walk many restaurants everything nice except a lot of noise keep me awake at night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I really enjoyed my stay. The staff for the most part were really sweet and helpful. They cleaned my room everyday nicely and saved my but a time or two with the complementary waters they leave each time. And a pleasant little walk through a fun park to get to the main strip with all the beaches and buses.
- Juan (2/5): - No good is amess place people not good not rent no more this place
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room is clean, staff is okay, area is so so. No much impressed about this city.
- Martin (10/5): - Great location. Close to everything you need on holiday.
- Darren (6/5): - It was good value for money,we just happened to show up the one night the tv’s and air conditioners were out,the next night was a lot more comfortable
- Darren (4/5): - Convenient location, good value for money would recommend
- Anna//Cecil (2/5): - DID NOT HONOUR BOOKING . NO REUND, NOTHING!!!. b
Booked for two days and when arrived they had overbooked and nothing was available.. tried to push us on to a sister hotel??? but would not pay for the taxi to get us there .. it was midnight and they finally found a place close by that we had to walk to. As we did not know the area we were forced to take it ..There are no words to describe just how horrible it was..... cannot believe Expedia has Suites Gabby on there website ..have used Expedia for years but notice lately a lot of untruths about condition of hotels seem to be happening
- Tom (6/5): Brrrrr.... - The only bad bit really, is the COLD shower.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was okay; Not much of a view; Good deal for a short trip..
- Robert (4/5): - I am disabled and had to go to the my room up 24 steps, no hand rail.
No restaurants close or a tienda to buy basics.
Their restaurant, The Turtle, was only open for breakfast with a limited menu
- Jamie (6/5): So so, much better options available - This hotel is located in the downtown part of Cancun. The good: You are within walking distance from the Plaza 28 which is a huge market. The rooms are comfortable and the air conditioner worked great. The bad:, restaurant is worthless they give you a free continental breakfast which is 2 pieces of bread and coffee, worthless. The wifi is not very good
- Bruno (8/5): Convinient, Inexpensive, $50 peso ride from ADO - Centrally located, 5 minute taxi ride to ADO station. Mercado 28 a couple of blocks away. Room was OK , clean, secure, room safe, great WIFI. A/C was not working . Great inexpensive place to sleep while exploring. Walking distance to many clubs. Continental breakfast consists of 2 slices of bread, coffee, imitation juice & cereal. We splurged for the $55 peso egg plate which was disappointing . We are returning at the end of the week to rest while waiting for our 2 am flight. Great value.
- Coraline (8/5): - I really liked this place, everything was so clean and beautiful! Except that you just have to ask about everything because they never tell you before, like, breakfast, phone room...
And have kind a problem in my last night...with some couple, they came to their room - I think - drunk, screaming, throwing things, closing the door really hard, fighting, around 12am...I had to call the receptionist twice and they never came to the couple room! Was impossible sleep! After that I woke up again with a “wierd sounds” from the same couple! Terrible!
That is the only thing!
But the room stuff and the house cleaners are very nice!
- ana (10/5): Very friendly staf small hotel but very clean - Nice hotel but close to shopping and downtown but not very close to the beach
- Qili (6/5): - Nice hotel , but nothing special. Close to market 28.
- Mario (6/5): - Not very handicap friendly and too much noise noise cancellation isn’t very good I hit my shins multiple times going up the stairs no hand bars nor elevators and they don’t have wheelchairs
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value and location - Decent hotel and room. Close to Mercado 23 which is very touristy. Reception were helpful. Large range of TV channels but only 2-3 in English.
Room smelt of smoke unfortunately, previous guest's fault not the hotels but wanted to call this out.
- Christine (4/5): Basic, clean and central in cancun city - No one at reception could speak english. Breakfast was basic, the coffee was badly watered down. Room was clean and spacious. Location is close to Mercado 28 but apart from that not much else.
- Lilí (10/5): Basic hotel near downtown transportation - Reception was helpful and Erika is such a helpful concierge! She will give you tips and advice on what to do nearby. The hotel is a 10-min walk from ADO bus station, where you can take a bus to any place imaginable. Very neat, and clean but don’t book if you’re looking for something fancy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good location - I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. I was able to get a good night sleep. No loud noise from bars or clubs. I highly advise upon arrival, talking to Geronimo, he is the one that helps you take the luggage to your room. He is a very friendly and honest guy, and will guide you in choosing a place to do souvenier shopping or getting around cancun.
- Roosevelt (8/5): Peace - The staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was juice, coffee, cereal, milk and toast. Not bad for the price. This is the second year in a row that I have stayed there. For the price, you cant go wrong. Within a 10 minute walk of the bus that takes your to airport and other locations, like Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Morales. I will always come back. Nice and close to grocery store and the best streets tacos around.
- jack (8/5): Worth the money - Nice cozy and clean rooms. Breakfast was poor but, we didnt come for the breakfast.
A good place if you need a nice clean and quiet place to stay and ur on the budget.
- Rachel (6/5): - It was very nice and clean for the price we paid. Amazing Location. Good Bathroom and large in room safe.
Provided toiletries, towels and clean sheets. No elevator. Breakfast is close to nothing.
Our toilet flush didn't work and water over flowed. Happened couple of times. The lady at the reception hesitated to change our room and said that rooms are full, but eventually moved us to another one.
My loose change from the room kept near the locker vanished. Didn't like that a bit. Be careful of your stuff.
- Gilberto (6/5): No Ice - No ice and no elevators
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice small hotel - Clean rooms, nice staff, close to restaurants. Good price
- B (6/5): Friendly Staff - Hotel was great for the price very clean and close to restaurants . Staff was very friendly and helped us with arranging actacibin the morning.
- Mary (10/5): - My room was comfortably renovated, extremely clean, and I enjoyed it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cheap hotel - Cheap hotel. Poor breakfast. Clean room. Staff does not speak English.
- myoungsoo (8/5): - Wi fi connection was very poor
- Osniel (8/5): Pleasing for the price. - The hotel is clean and to spend the night is perfect. Breakfast is not the best which includes two toast and coffee. Other than that , if you are looking for a place to crash for the night , this one is perfect.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful, room was comfortable and very clean, the only downside is there is no elevator, staff are helpful with luggage but if you have trouble with stairs would consider another location.
- Nessa (6/5): It’s just ok... - Ok place to stay, nothing fancy but comfortable and clean. It stormed bad during my stay so the walls leaked. Only one mirror in room, no English channels on tv, no blow dryer(not a big deal but since it stormed a hair dryer would’ve been convenient), the “included breakfast” was only toast, not much noise during my stay. Staff was friendly and worked hard to keep hotel clean. There was no “DO NOT DISTURB” sign for cleaning so we were woken up everyday by housekeeping. Other than that it was just ok, pretty basic hotel but still comfortable if you don’t have many needs.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Booger on the wall - There was a booger on the wall next to the sink. Acoustics in the hotel are awful.
- Maja (8/5): Budget friendly - Hotel is very basic but clean. Breakfast option includes: 2 pieces of bread, bowl of cereal, coffee and glass of juice. If you fancy something else there are good and cheap eating options around the corner from the hotel. Across the road from Mercado 28 where you can do all your gift shopping and talk to locals. Don't be scared of the sellers- just say 'no gracias' and walk away. They trying to make a living. If you need other groceries Walmart is 10 min away, otherwise there is local OXXO store. If you want to head to the beach take local bus R-1 or R-2 - bus stop is 5min away.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic stay - Although you get what you pay for, I've never been to a hotel that had no local calls avaialable, no iron/iron board and most of all a blow dryer? Service was limited with a launguge barrier? Accomatiions were not at all what it should be. Cleanliness is is the only factor that makes the "hotel" a 3atar.
- ray (10/5): - ado (bus station) near by, park las palapas, (hangout place) with good food and night activity.
- ayesha (10/5): Very clean and friendly staff - It’s a great hotel. It’s in a very good location close to everything and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend and would stay again.
- Alex (2/5): Rude staff - On my Itinerary check in time is 3pm and check out time is 1pm , I’m was informed that it was 12pm I informed that my reservation had 1pm , staff was very rude and told me that it was 12pm stop giving wrong information 2nd time that has happened to me
- Kirstie (10/5): Great, central hotel - Excellent Downtown location about a ten minute walk from the bus station, right across from Mercado 28, within minutes from loads of restaurants, and close to buses to the Hotel Zone/beach. The room was small but enough for what we needed (not a lot of counter space, if that's important to you). The hotel is modern and very clean, and the staff are friendly. Our room didn't have an external window (just one into the hallway), but the air conditioning kept the room from being stuffy. The walls are thin, but the hotel mostly quiets down overnight. Water was hot most of the time with the exception of a few hours. Breakfast is very minimal (cereal, toast, coffee), but it's nice to have on sight. Overall, the hotel's location and cleanliness make it a really great bargain and a solid choice if you'd like to stay in Downtown!
- Angel (10/5): Nice and cozy - Nice hotel for the value. Clean, cozy just for the value. I recommended.
- Badny Gonzalez (2/5): Over sold hotel ?? really? - arrived at the hotel to learn that, they had rented our room to some one else, an already paid for room, cause I guess people are in the habit of paying for a hotel room and no show up.
- patrick (10/5): - 10/10!
- Jiangchen (10/5): It was great to stay, the stuff are super friendly - It was great to stay, the stuff are super friendly and kind. I would stay in Suites Gaby next time!!
