Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not an hotel it's a bed n bfast you need share with another couple Also bring proof of your payment bec I was told the payment was not receive and was asked to pay cash
- Henny Gold (8/5): - Fantastisk ophold.
- Melissa (10/5): Most excellent B&B - Danilo was so helpful and kind. The room was very clean. The service was excellent. Lovely huge breakfast. We were helped out with the buses and allowed to leave our cases as we had a late flight.
- chiara (10/5): B&b a 200 m da piazza s.Pietro - Ottima esperienza, b&b gestito da 3 ragazzi giovani, gentilissimi e disponibilissimi. Camera pulita e in zona tranquilla a 200m a piedi da piazza san Pietro, fermata dell'autobus vicinissima.
- Felix Jr (10/5): - Its the best., friendly and helpful, the service is amazing like your in 5star hotel..
- Antonino (10/5): ECCELLENTE IN TUTTO!
- Pavel (10/5): Absolutely perfect for the given price - This B&B was one of the cheapest offer for our family. Despite this the accommodation was perfect. Just few meters from Vatican and other monuments. Staff was absolutely perfect, very friendly and helpful.Bathroom was shared with just one other double room, so no problem at all. Room was surprisingly big, clean and nice. Street is quite noisy, but you know, this is Rome ;-). Overall quality of accommodation was bright moment of our great trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent staff and rooms - Very good hotel and near the city center and easy to acces.
- Aghavni (8/5): MERCI POUR L`ACCUEIL FAMILIAL ET LE SERVICE - L`IMMEUBLE EST ANCIEN RAPPORT DE PRIX EXCELLANT? TRES BON ACCUEIL, PERSONNEL MULTILINGUE, TOUJOURS DISPONIBLE ET SOURIANT.
LE SEUL BEMOL C`EST QUE LE TOILETTE ET LA DOUCHE SONT DANS LE COULOIR.
L`EMPLACEMENT DE L`HOTEL EST PARFAITE.
- Martin (2/5): Noe for backpackern?
- Hyelim (8/5): Clean and safe B&B - It's really close to Vatican and pretty safe.
The room was clean and staff cleans everyday.
Piccola come struttura, curata e tenuta bene.
- Shirley (6/5): Good value budget hotel - Good value and great location close to the Vatican. Very clean and Vincenzo was helpful. Only complaint is that it is super noisey. I'm a deep sleeper and slept ok, not ideal for light sleepers.
- Michelle (8/5): Affordable, good staff members, close to Vatican - We had a one night here before moving to another place but the room was clean and tray table with hot teapot was just what we needed for hot coffee in the morning. For a decent price along with spacious room, table with hot pot and cups and free wifi, I was satisfied.
- roger (4/5): Near Vatican, expect nothing but a decent room. - If you expect nothing, you'll leave satisfied.
Except for wifi in the room, they do not offer any of the services they claim. Most notably, do not rely upon them for any transpo to or from airport or any other place for that matter.
Perhaps such services may have been available to those who speak Italian. attempting to communicate in English is consistently unreliable. Only one person speaks English, he rarely answers the cell phone. And to date has not responded to email.
Why stay there? PROXIMITY. Charming 10 minute walk to San Pietro, the Vatican and a couple of millennia of history packed into 120+ acres.
If you are happy with a decent room near the Vatican and want nothing else from your hotel, this place is for you.
- Jessica (10/5): Great stay close to St. Peter's Basilica - We had a great time staying at Al Ponte del Papa. It was easy to find (just look for the number 62 because there isn't a large sign with the name) and perfect for us. The bathroom was small but that's typical of Italy. The location was perfect for us because we were attending a wedding at St. Peter's Basilica. Be prepared to pay in euros and there is a city tax on top of that. We thought the price was more than fair and would come back again.
- Cathy (6/5): Family travel - OK B&B but location is not very convenient if you stay only short days.
- steven (6/5): Mixed - Stayed here one night. Room was clean but the room was woren and the mattress was thin. Breakfast was also not what I was expecting, it was a croissant in an air compressed plastic with a tiny square box of orange juice. Also, I had to share a shower and the water pressure was weak. Traffic was loud through the windows in the front of the room. However, the owner (guy) was beyond helpful and went out of his way to make me feel at home. The location to the Vatican is also perfect and a short walk away. Because of his great service And perfect location, I would consider staying here again.
- federica (8/5): B&B consigliatissimo !!! Consigliato!
- Ludmila (10/5): Prodloužený víkend v Římě - Velká spokojenost s polohou hotelu a dostupností veřejné dopravy.Hotel vyhovující,majitelé přátelští.
- Verified traveler (10/5): super!!! - Magniphique séjour.
- Andrzej (8/5): godne polecenia - Pobyt był super bliako do Watykanu polecam
- Verified traveler (2/5): disgrace - I went to the hotel 3 times that day only to find nobody there so me and my 15yr old son gave up and found another after lugging our bags around all day Dissapointed and I hope I get my money back
- Raoul (10/5): Parfait!
A conseiller!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Razoável e barato - Windows doesn't close and só much do much noisy out side !
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice Bed & Breakfast close to Vatican & Saint Pete - The staff treated us like family. They went above the call of duty by ironing our sheets, and leaving cake and wine for New Years Eve.
- bernardo (6/5): Horrible neighbors but 56 euro a night.... - We stayed a total of 6 nights. There were 2 days breakfast was not placed in our room and 1 day that it was not cleaned (not counting sunday). The majority with the issues were not with the staff but with the other guests. one lady was pounding on the bathroom door while my wife was showering because she wanted to use it and wanted my wife to get out. Another time, one of their teenage kids peed all over the toilet seat and didnt bother to clean it before i went in. They would do obnoxious things like this all the time. The staff was very nice, and the location is great. If you decide to book here, and get a room with a shared bathroom keep in mind you are at the mercy of the other tennants.
- Paulina Marek (8/5): Excellent location - The location couldn't be better, the room was nice clean and neat. Walking distance of the St. Peter square, couldn't be better. There was no problem with the connection to the Internet.
- Ilona (8/5): - Arianna and Massimiliano were wonderful. Very friendly, very helpful and personable. The ownership, however changed hands during my stay. That was very strange. I met new owners, Francisco and Vincenzo and they seemed nice. I liked the location being neat the Vatican. Getting to the center of the old city is no problem; about 30 on foot. Also good connection by bus number 46 to Piazza Venezia. From there walk to everything.
- James (8/5): Great Location • Good Price - As an American, everything was a little smaller than I'm used to & comfortable with. Rooms are small & shared shower is tiny.
The girl at front desk was very nice & accommodating. It is located very close to the Vatican.
It is a nice place (Especially for the cost)
The only things I would change...
~ A/C!!! I'm from Florida, which gets very hot like Rome. Only difference is that every building in FL has A/C.
~ Better sign on front. It was difficult to find. If I had been driving, I could have driving right by.
Overall - Good experience & friendly staff. It was right next to where we wanted to be.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great hospitality - The hosts are WONDERFUL and made us very glad that we chose to stay here. In addition to being very friendly, they were so accommodating, even letting us use their wireless printer and try a slice of something delicious they made for lunch one day. While the location is a bit far from the center, they provide you with helpful bus information. We enjoyed being close to the Vatican, since we spent most of a day there. There's also a great pizza place just minutes away, if you feel too tired at the end of a long day of walking to go far for dinner. The room and bathroom are small, but for the rate, it's an incredible value given the hospitality that comes with it. Highly recommended!
- Ankit (8/5): Fantastic Price, Clean Rooms - We loved our stay at Al Ponte del Papa B&B, the hosts were pleasant and have taken decent care of the property. The location is a plus, considering it is right next to the vatican. But for other attractions in the city, you have to take a bus. It is a small place with very few rooms, and sometimes hard to find unless you are careful. Additionally, since the owners are not there all the time holding luggage may be a challenge after you checkout and have sometime before you head out of the town.
- Alex (8/5): Good, but there are - The hotel was pretty much in line with other reviews, but there are some surprising things to consider before making a reservation: 1. free parking means actually "park yourself in the street", and the nearby place is not guaranteed - it's Rome. 2. no a/c, and the ceiling fan is so weak that it produces more noise than cooling.
- lucy (10/5): Brilliant stay!!!! - We had an amazing time at Al Ponte Del Papa! We were welcomed by the staff and made to feel at home as soon as we arrived. The room was brilliant value for money as it was so big and was kept immaculate. I would definitely recommend to a friend and can't wait to come back!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hard to find but very nice - Very small 'hotel' walking distance from Vatican. Staff fairly friendly but their English is very poor. Breakfast does not amount to much. The room, however, had great character. No proper air conditioning but a fan above bed. Road outside very noisy, all night! But for the price it is very worth it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): B&B just beneath Vatican City - It is a B&B with sharing bathroom. Overall comments are positive with nice hotel staff, very clean and comfortable. The most important thing is that it is very near to Vatican City (around 5mins to walk). However, they do not have a big signage showing their location, you need to beware of missing it.
- cheryl (8/5): Great location - Close to Vatican. Be prepared to pay cash. Was not told ahead of time.
- Kate (8/5): Close to Vatican, comfortable - It was fine for a short stay, although breakfast is basically a prepackaged croissant. Tiny bathroom and very difficult to find - a sign might help!!
- JSW (10/5): Great accomodation! - The location is convenient and near to many tourist attractions. Surrounding the place there are many restaurants and places to eat so there's nothing to worry about. The service is really good and staff are very friendly and helpful in providing information.
- Kaz (8/5): Short city break with my adult daughter - We booked online based on the location and ratings, plus of course price being a concern.
We were tourists on a budget.
Al Ponte del Papa was great for us.
Cheap enough and immaculately clean.
Freshly decorated and very pleasant.
The pre packaged breakfast was ok,
no worse than the stuff you get in a Premier Inn continental breakfast bag.
We were given our own set of keys,
so we could come and go as we pleased.
Our room was nice enough, comfy double bed, double wardrobe and an en suite that although small was perfectly functional, the shower was wonderful.
Had to pay in cash though, and there's a room tax of €3 per person per night on top of your bill.
The location was perfect, 5 minutes walk from the Vatican, and there's a bus route that stops yards from the door that takes you right to the heart of the tourism centre.
Some pleasant and reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance too.
Highly recommend Caprain Cone ice cream parlour across the main road!
- marianne (10/5): Excellent Location and great people. Very pleased. - We visited all the parts of rome on the map and it was really interesting.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - need to be near the vatican--it was perfect--they were kind and the place was clean
- Berto (10/5): Great affordable place. - Great place. If you are looking for an lower priced option without having to worry about cleanliness or your safety this is it. The staff was super friendly. The room was clean. Location was awesome, less than 5 min walk to Plaza St. Peter. There are restaurants on the same block.
Some watchouts, when the taxi drops you off at the door don't expect to see a sign saying 'Al Ponte Del Papa'. This is basically an apartment/home above other businesses. If you go to the address supplied you will see a plan door, on the buzzer it will say 'Al Ponte Del Papa'.
Also they only accept cash payment.
- Verified traveler (8/5): great location - great location, very helpful people. only problem is the stairs going up. steep steps,. not advisable for old people with heavy luggage. there should also be a sign outside pointing to the door, cos its a bit difficult to locate.but overall, the experience is great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel, close to town centre - Very friendly staff. Always there to listen.
- M. Vega (10/5): Excellent place. Very near to the Vatican - Place was comfortable, walking distance from the Vatican (5 minutes walk or so). Clean and the personnel very helpful.
Consider that it is on a second floor if you have kids and move with stroller and the bathroom is small and shared.
But if you don't mind it's excellent!
Would recommend!!
- Zuzi (6/5): Great for the price - This hotel is excellently located right at the walls of Vatican City. There is a good bus connection to Rome Centre as well as the Termini train station. Hotels in Rome are expensive and this was relatively good value for money. It's on a busy street so bring your earplugs. Otherwise the interior is very quiet - you wouldn't believe the Italians running the place actually live there - which is welcoming when you get back after a punishing day out sightseeing. The beds are very small and narrow and look like they are going to fall apart any minute. If you are not a 50kg dwarf like me, you may find them very uncomfortable. You get your own set of keys to get in whenever you like. The doors are sturdy and make you feel safe. Be prepared to share the bathroom with other quests. One day they kept us waiting over 30 minutes, but then they left and it was all ours. I recommend visiting Rome during the week, as on Sunday Vatican Museums are closed and you will wait a loooong queue to get in on Saturday, and everybody will be there with you at the Forum on Sunday. Get into the Vatican line half an hour before opening on Monday and you will be in in no time. Get the Roma Pass for VIP access to Forum and Coloseum and jump the queues.
- Michael L (8/5): Great inexpensive hotel - Booked for a two night stay to visit Rome and this hotel served it's purpose. It's inexpensive, barebones hotel that was exactly what I was looking for. It's definitely no frills, but the location is literally 7 minute walk to Vatican City and easy to have the hotel manager get you a taxi to get into the center of Rome. The only downside is that if can be loud at night due to its location and the occasional wait to use the bathroom/shower however those were quite minor in my view for the price. There are also a few restaurants available within walking distance. Very helpful staff that appeared to live on-site.
- gimmi (6/5): small b & b but great location - close to vatican and easy to get buses. not a luxury b & b very basic
- Rey Cruz (8/5): Great Location - Very close to the Vatican! - We had a wonderful stay in their bright and cheerfully painted/ spacious room. However,it was facing a semi-busy street and was kind of noisy fom cars passing by but tolerable when the windows are closed. Less than 10 minutes walk to St. Peter's Square in a very safe neighborhoood. The hotel manager was very helpful and very accommodating. He made us feel so at home. Basically, 'Our home away from home'. I would highly recommend Al Ponte del Papa Bed and Breakfast to my friends and family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): perfect - If you are looking for a cheap, really good B&B, then this is it.
- ChrissyJ (8/5): Will stay again! - From first contact via phone calls and email, Al Ponte del Papa were fantastic and very helpful planning our travel to and from the B&B.
The room was clean and comfortable - no aircon but had a good working ceiling fan.
The bathroom was clean and tidy. With a great shower.
I would recommend this accommodation to anyone who is on a budget but wants the perfect location.
They made our stay in Rome a complete pleasure!
- Jessica (8/5): A great few days in Rome. - Very nice and clean. Spacious accommodation for our family of 4. It's a big city and there are a lot of road noises if you're not used to them. As well, air conditioning is run only when you're in the room, which doesn't help much when it's really hot. The staff was very helpful and even arranged for us to be met at the airport. It was a great little spot.
- Mark (10/5): Low Cost and Good location - The Bed and Breakfast was in a good location close to the Vatican City and next to a bus stop. The street might be a little loud at night, but it was more than bearable. The owner is nice and gives out a map of Rome and gives directions as well.
- Fiona (10/5): Affordable comfort in Rome - This place is a perfect location as it is away from the maddening crowds of Rome, Its basic but clean and affordable. Everything you need for a reasonably priced stay in rome. Plenty of places to eat and drink at locally, San Pietro station 7 mins away. Wake up to the sound of St Pauls bells ringing
- Verified traveler (6/5): All things considered... - Rome is expensive, and though we found the street noise jarring, the location and price of this hotel made it worth a recommendation. Not fabulous, but quite fine for our family of four.
- Darren (8/5): Good accommodation, good location, great city. - My girlfriend and I headed to Rome knowing it would be expensive so we wanted to find reasonably priced accommodation knowing full well that we would not be spending much time in it anyway. This type of accommodation seemed right up our street with decent reviews and it was how we expected. I cannot complain at all, our room was clean, fairly spacious and the staff were helpful, it's a small family run B&B, brekkie is basic, continental, tea/coffee, biscuits with jam and a croissant, for the price you can't complain if you're visiting Rome to get out and about then you'll be grateful for a free cup of tea in the morning, we were. Location is spot on, the center of Rome is very busy so it was nice to go back to somewhere slightly outside, a short bus ride away and right on the doorstep of the Vatican City, there are a few shops and restaurants nearby, a lovely Italian restaurant yards away which we ate in twice. If you like your hotel chains then stay in one of those but if you want more of a cultural experience then stay in a place like this.
- Alida C (10/5): - Great location and a wonderful owner.
- Leelou (8/5): You get what you pay for - You get what you pay for. Franceco was very nice. Hotel is right around the corner from Vatican City. There is an amazing Indian restaurant next door. Breakfast was disappointing. They give you some pre packed toast and jam, tea and coffee, and not very nice chocolate croissants. Apparently there's a law that they can't serve breakfast. This do called breakfast I'd in your room every night.
- Punnawit (8/5): Nice B&B - Cozy accommodation...good location where is close to Vatican ...
- Carole (10/5): Wonderful stay! - Great experience!
Very nicely received and assisted.
We were a family of 4. Stayed 4 nights.
The room we got was very spacious and comfortable, nicely decorated and clean.
The owner, Vincenzo, was so helpful at all we needed, from directions, to good restaurants, to doing our laundry, to having his brother Francesco take us to the airport.
The B&B is so conveniently located... walking distance to the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica. Price was very reasonable.
Would highly recommend it.
- Joe (8/5): We'd come again - We stayed 2 nights with Francesco & Vincenzo. The B&B is about €15 cab fare from Terminii and very convenient to St Peters. Colliseum etc, a not unreasonable walk. Our hosts were extremely cooperative & helpful. Our room, bed & shared bathroom were very clean. The only drawback was the noisy traffic outside, but as we got back at 10.30 pm each night, exhausted, it wasn't a real problem. The tariff per night was extremely reasonable. Restaurant 'la caletta' nearby, is recommended. €40-45 cab fare to Fiumincino. Recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Al Ponte del Papa B&B - a real gem - Great location, great staff, lovely place - i was worried about having to share a bathroom but it was no problem at all. I would definitely go back!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very Close to Vatican, Very Cold to me - This B&B is Very Close to Vatican, Very Cold to me. I'd been there in cold winter so the room is bit cold. But other options are good and reasonable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): I wouldn't have stayed anywhere else - My girlfriend and I stayed here last week and I would really recommend it for a couple who would like to stay in Rome for a short city break.
It's in a great location, just outside of the Vatican - at most it's a five minute walk down the road to St. Peter's Square. It's very easy and quick to get into the centre of Rome with the number 46 and 64 buses (plus there's a shop right below it that sells the tickets). The staff are very hospitable, helpful and kind - they even helped me locate my lost camera! It was a cosy, clean room. And all of this was for a cheap price. I wouldn't have stayed anywhere else.
Just one thing: perhaps the breakfast could be a bit more 'continental' and contain less packaged stuff.
Thank you for a superb few days! Grazie mille!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly B&B! - Cozy B&B but Vincent & Francesco & Mamia are really friendly and helpful...
Wishing they have the room downstair for arthitis person as my wife.
- Lydia (10/5): Very good location for the Vatican visits. - Very helpful staff. Very closed to the Vatican.
- Jesus (10/5): Very nice located and very friendly owner - My wife and I went to Rome for 5 days, we traveled from Mexico and we never stayed on a B&B before, so our expectations were not that high, but as soon as we got closer to the B&B, we started to see that the location was excellent, just 2 blocks away from the vatican, which was perfect for us since our main objective was to spend most of our days there.
The room was very good, we got the room with 2 single beds, very comfortable, and eventough we had to share the bathroom with other room we never faced any issues. Vincenzo an his mom were very friendly, eventough our first language is spanish his mom did all possible to explain everything, is a nice family enviroment.
I will definately stay again in this B&B and will recommend it to anyone that asks me.
Thanks for everything Vicenzo.
- Curtis (8/5): Great location! - A small b&b in a great location, around the corner from the Vatican. The staff was nice, when we could find them (they seemed to be out a lot.)
- Mindy (6/5): Simple room to rest at night. - Basic room, close to the Vatican and near the Metro. You get breakfast at a nice cafe down the street. There wasn't any AC though, and it was really hot while I was there.
- Katie (10/5): Beautiful room near the Vatican - Very nice looking room, very comfortable, surprising. Do not try to get here in the middle of the night, it was difficult to find but they were very welcoming. Very convenient location, just a couple minutes walk to the Vatican. Highly recommended. Comfortable bed. Breakfast at nearby cafe.
