- Michelle (10/5): Great stay! - Paolo was an amazing host! He was welcoming, sat with us and explained the ins and outs of the property and gave us great walking and dining directions (which we followed!) The a/c worked great and the property was very clean. We were able to find free parking in front of the building.

- Jana (10/5): Excellent accommodation - Martini Bed was an excellent choice for our accommodation in Rome, while on a family trip. Conveniently close to the subway, clean, quiet, and air-conditioned -- features we greatly appreciated. Personalized individual attention to our questions by the staff was a welcomed bonus! Definitely recommend to other travelers.
- Anna maria (8/5): - SITUATO NON MOLTO DISTANTE DALLE METROPOLITANA,VICINO A PICCOLO MIMIMARKET ,BAR E PIZZERIA.ESPERIENZA POSITIVA
- Catherine Mai-Ly (10/5): - Only 15min by metro from all the attractions with a 24h supermarket down the street, a pharmacy and many restaurant options nearby! My family and I prefered this quieter neighborhood and would come back!
- Gudrun (10/5): - Accomodation and service were very good. To the Metro station was only ca.7 min to go At night it was often loud.
- Stephanie (4/5): Not worth it. - Honestly this price is very over hyped in the reviews. It is basically a hostel and it is not worth it. Overall it was okay but the bathroom was not clean. The shower had a dirty towel as well as black mold in it. There was a cup on the sink that also had gross things in it. The bed was thankfully clean but there was a lot of dust under the bed and around. I would not recommend unless you’re comfortable sleeping in something like this.
- Alfio (8/5): - good
Consigliato
- Noelle (10/5): - Very accommodating and friendly staff and super walkable to the Metro!
- Monia (8/5): - Struttura molto buona, comoda, pulita, proprietario gentilissimo, trasporti vicini super comodi.
- Eduardo (2/5): - The property was noisy since we arrived. Had to drive around a few times before finding a parking. The property was so loud through out the day and it carried into the night. We did not get any sleep and had to find another hotel to spend our remaining days in Rome. The attendand told us we should have contacted her but they only answer up to 10 Pm. It was an awful experience.
- Samiri (10/5): An eco and family friendly place - Our family stay was wonderful. The place was exactly what we wanted, clean, and with all amenities. We did not mind the short traveling by metro. We were close enough the city but far for a more subdued and integrated atmosphere. Paolo and his assistant were friendly and extremely helpful. We would stay again.
- Kathleen (8/5): Good value convenient to museums and attractions. - Building itself was well cared for but the area was questionable. We had no problems but I would have been nervous to have been by myself in the area. Building itself was very secure! Ate at a great restaurant recommended by our host. Convenient to metro into town for all of the museums and sites. Electricity went out overnight which caused us to lose hot water early in the morning, host was quickly contacted by emergency phone and rectified issue immediately. Overall great value for a clean stay, convenient to attractions with comfortable beds.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner Paola was unbelievable. He met us only arrival. Got us settled in. Gave us the tour of facilities. Gave us a bottle of wine. Everything was very nice. But the best part was sitting down with us and taking a map he provided to explain and mark out our tour of Rome. We took the metro, 500 meters away. He told us the stops to take, the things to see, places to eat , where to get coffee and Gelato. He couldn't have been better.
- Randy (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a great location in a nice neighborhood near the Metro station. Lot of good places to shop and eat. Room was clean and comfortable. Paolo was pleasant and was helpful in getting around the neighborhood and Rome.
- agneso866 (10/5): Great air b&b - Beautiful place to stay, clean kept air b&b which looks like a hotel. Free & fast wifi, aircond included, very safe place with lots of locks. Easy to transit to city centre as it's near the train station. Owner has been very helpful with suggesting places & could speak very well english. There are also good ratings restaurant within a few mins walking distance. Only downside, is the view out of the room is just facing other apartment.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Paolo excelente - Muy cerca metro y mercado. Seguro y Paolo excelente
- Silvio (10/5): Hotel confortable, propre.
- Eduardo (10/5): 👍👍 - Very helpful, if it wasn't for Paolo my family wouldn't have experience Rome... and other parts of Italy
- ABDULLAH (8/5): - جيد
- Loreta (10/5): - Amazing !!!we all enjoyed our stayed in martini bed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice Apartment with excellent service! - Great Location/ walking 3 minutes to the metro. Nice Apartment with excellent service :) Paolo is the best!!
- Patricia (8/5): Moderno y confortable - Muy amable Paolo
- PeterTraveler187375 (10/5): perfect location for reasonable money - We stayed two days here for visiting Rome and were very positive surprised about the kind owner, the perfect location and the room itself with a small Balconary. The hotel uses two appartments in an appartment house from the 50ties. It is relative quiet considering the location in the busy town. For sure the appartment itself is not sound proof as usual in Italy.
The owner is very engaged and gives you a good guidance if you like, even about the closer neighborship.
Breakfast is self serving and a bit simple but fully fine and nothing to complain. Beds were fully OK, room was always clean - 5 of 5 points. We will definitelly visit it again on the next trip.
- Barry (8/5): Friendly service, big room - This is not actually a hotel, the rooms are converted apartments but that didn't matter as the service was great from the Manager Paolo, very personalised and the Rooms were big and great for family, separate kitchen to use if wanted.
It was a little tricky to find, but follow instructions & you'll get there. Martini Bed is very secure, the neighbourhood is not touristy but very typical inner city living. They are also very environmentally aware with a lot of recycling and Eco products. Thanks, great stay
- Sara (8/5): Vacanze Romane - Zona tranquilla. Metropolitana a pochi passi. Ci siamo trovati proprio bene .
- P9560LWgaryb (10/5): The best place to stay - This place was so good. Our room was perfect and we couldn't have asked for more. Right next to the station for trips into central Rome but also in a great local community with shops and restaurants. Paolo is such a nice host and was full of advise for a good stay with recommendations for the best places to visit and eat. We will definitely return. There is no need to spend lots of money on expensive hotels when you have Martini Bed to stay at.
Thanks Paolo from Gary and Caroline.
- Kinga (10/5): Miejsce bardzo przyjazne, obsługa hotelu pomocna - 5/5 czysto, tanio, miło, przyjazna obsługa, blisko do metra, pobyt na plus ;)
- lindapV5376PT (10/5): A great budget hotel - Martini Bed was fantastic! The owner was very kind. He gave excellent advice and explained the living situation well. He even gave us a bottle of wine when we arrived! The room was comfortable and spacious, with a bunk bed, a single bed, and a queen sized bed. There was also a large TV in our room. The room had great closet space, and air conditioning. The wifi worked wonderfully throughout the apartment. The balcony overlooked the courtyard and the street below. The bathroom was clean, and soap and shampoo were provided, along with a set of towels for each person. Additionally, every morning he would come by and make the beds and straighten the room and bathroom! The kitchen was well stocked, with cookies, biscotti, coffee, milk, juice, cocoa, yogurt, cereal, and pound cakes all available to eat anytime. A full communal kitchen is available for cooking yourself. Each room had its own section in the refrigerator and pantry to store food. It is located in a safe building in a working- class neighborhood. I felt safe even when walking at night. There are restaurants, shops, a great supermarket and a farmer's market in the neighborhood. It is just 3 blocks from the metro station, and 15-20 min by metro to most attractions. It's a bit out of the tourist district, but I prefer being in the real city. I would highly recommend Martini Bed!
- Maria (10/5): Loistava hinta - laatusuhde - Edullinen B&B metropysäkin lähellä. Erittäin ystävällinen palvelu. Hyvä matakajalle joka ei hae luksusta.
- Jeff (10/5): Roma - excellent stay
- Erinaldo Junior (8/5): Otimo atendimento! - boa...equipe atenciosa e estrutura confortavel.
- 365ianh (10/5): Ideal for independant budget traveller - Ideal BnB for visiting Rome independantly on a budget. 5 mins to Metro then 15-30 mins to town centre and main tourist areas. Local area is not appealing but its safe people are friendly there are some handy grocery/fruit etc shops, restaurants and cafes. Owner manager Paulo is fantastic he made us very welcome, helped us sort out our itineray and made reservations for us. BnB is simple, very clean, breakfast (24hrs) is coffee and cake etc, kitchen is fully fitted for snacks or simple cooking and a laundry service is available. Some, most I think, have private bathrooms others are shared. Recommend to speak to Paulo re arrival from airport and directions etc especially if arriving late and be very very careful for pickpockets in the city. We caught one with her hand in our bag fortunately we were not robbed, think about a under clothing wallet.
- MinniHack55 (10/5): Nice place to stay and use metro to get to sites - We stayed for 3 days. The rooms were clean, the staff helpful (Paolo was on vacation when we visited), espresso machine and food items available 24/7, common kitchen with cooking items available for all guests. There was a common refrigerator and small refrigerators in the room. The rooms were on the third floor. The location was a five minute walk from a metro station and a small grocery store. It was a 15 minute metro ride to the central part of the city and trains came every 5-10 minutes. We bought a 3 day metro pass for our stay. There is no sight seeing near the location and the local area seems a bit iffy (don't spend any time at the local park), but we had no problems with evening walks from the metro station. We were told that there were good local places to eat near by, but we didn't try any of the restaurants.
This would be a great place for a family that needs more than one or two beds and wants to make some of their own meals. This is not a good place if you are looking to stay within walking distance of the tourist sites.
- ClintM659 (8/5): Nice place close to the Metro - The location initially looked bad, but ended up being fine. Very close to the Metro, therefore, all of Rome. Management was very good. Room was clean and fairly comfortable. Overall a good experience.
- Clint (8/5): Great Price near Rome (and Metro) - This room was comfortable. Paulo was very helpful. Very easy access to the Metro which goes to all the major attractions in Rome.
- Ankan (10/5): Martini Bed Hospitality par excellence - Paolo is very friendly and always ready to extend his helping hand. On arrival he explained to us how we can go around and visit the different attractions of the city. He also made us aware about the danger of pickpockets on Rome Metro. The Hotel is located pretty close to the Centre of the city. It takes about 15 minutes to reach Termini by metro from the Porta Furba Metro station. The Porta Furba Metro Station is at 1-2 minutes walking distance from the apartment complex where Martini Bed is present. A supermarket is present just close to the Metro station. Anything you need is located close enough. Paolo even provides a local map.
About the Hotel: Now one must understand this is not a regular hotel. However, it is an excellent place to stay and explore Rome. Here you get access to a shared kitchen and certainly helps if you are on a budget travel mode. The cleanliness is excellent
and other amenities like hot water round the clock is adequate. The breakfast is simple but again adequate, great for the overall price. The hotel also provides a safe within the room where you can leave youur cash and expensive items. It is not safe to carry a lot of cash around Rome as my father got robbed on the metro by an innocuous looking child pickpocket. So leave your expensives at the Hotel safe. If I tour Rome again I would prefer to stay at Martini Bed. Thanks Paolo
- Daniel (10/5): Convenient hotel near center of Rome - Family of five with teenagers. Convenient taxi drive from airport (got one for €40 near midnight when our flight got in, which was better than the first taxi drivers wanted to give us). Short stay as we checked out in the morning to continue our trip. Comfortable, though quirky, clean, room. Clean private bathroom. Kitchen is equipped for use and basic breakfast foods are available for each room.
- biggerbelly (8/5): great for a large family - stayed here for a week in April with my family of five, its really hard to find large rooms in European cities when you have five people. but martini bed was able to accommodate us perfectly. we had a room with a balcony and private although down the hall bathroom and breakfast. the breakfast is typical Italian but those of us from north america call it just a light snack, but it was great and gave us a good start for touring Rome. Paulo the owner gave us good advice in how to tour the city and navigate our way around. we took a day trip to Pisa and based on paulos advice the trip although very long went smoothly. My only complaint is that the other guest smoked heavily in the guest house and this really turned us off.
would stay again next time were in Rome.
- 385neils (10/5): Fantastic place to stay when in Rome - We had a fantastic time in Rome thanks to MartiniBed and Paolo. For a family of five to be able to have a room they could all stay in and relax was great rather than be cooped up in hotel rooms. Having the well-stocked 24/7 kitchen was excellent and much better than having to call room service in a hotel to get a tea or coffee. Free wifi a fantastic bonus too. Just a couple of minutes to the Metro and quickly into the city centre with authentic supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Would recommend to everyone.
- hanane (8/5): nice B & B - it was a 3 nights stay, good position to get to Rome center by metro, easy to get a free parking near, Paolo was helpful, good value to price.
- Franco (8/5): Great place.... - Great place to stay, save and close to the metro station. The room was clean and fresh. We enjoyed the stay very much....and it was cheap. Paulo was also great with info and we recieved a printout of the local area, with info. If you want to eat local, you can't get more local than Monte Carlo Due across the road, and very cheap and the food is great. Have the seafood pasta...
- kateoxford (10/5): Stay here! Fabulous, great value, friendly and welcoming - We had a fantastic three night stay here as a family last week. We stayed in a family room, which was spacious, had comfortable beds, a safe, fridge, air conditioning and a ceiling fan and an on- suite shower room. Outside the room in a shared area was an espresso machine, cereal and cakes for breakfast, and we had access to a kitchen so could cook for ourselves if we wished.
Our welcome could not have been warmer or more helpful (thank you!) and we followed the local Street Art tour on the map supplied by the owner, which took us out to explore the area local to the hotel.
The hotel is close to a metro stop on a direct route in to Termini, and an advantage of not being right in the middle was a great choice of friendly, affordable local restaurants and bars, and a great local supermarket.
We will return here when we come back to Rome. If you want a friendly, great value comfortable place to stay with character in a vibrant part of the city then this is for you.
- Kasia_kost (10/5): just what I have expected - I would definitely recommend this b&b. Nice, spacious room (we stayed in "Zamia"), quiet neighborhood, very close to the metro station. Since I’ve checked other reviews of this b&b before I expected breakfast to be rather simple so I was not disappointed. The kitchen is well equipped though. The place is well organized. During our stay not many other people were staying in the apartment. Thanks to that we really felt like we had house for ourselves. Very nice place for a little money.
- Daniel_Zwilling (10/5): Very nice b+b, family friendly - Great experience! Would definitely recommend this place. Of course, it's bed and breakfast with shared bathroom, so less comfort than a hotel but also much cheaper.
The rooms are clean and the kitchen is very well equipped with espresso machine, microwave, etc. and everything needed to cook. Several good restaurants in the neighborhood.
Paolo is a great host, very friendly and helpful.
The place is close to a subway station, perfect to explore the city.
- ErosSlovenija (8/5): Great starting base to explore Rome ! - I have searched for a convenient stay for my family for my returning trip to Rome. Martini Bed is what I found and I am more than happy about it. Owner Paolo is an excellent host that you could only praise. Nice, friendly, helpful and promise keeping guy.
Typically I write my reviews in a telegraph style with like/dislike scores and lets keep it also this time.
You will find Martini Bed
- very convenient location - very close to Rome Metro station Porta Furba (20 minutes to center)
- very clean
- very safe - located in a residents area and residents building built in 50's
- very home-alike
- very friendly
Martini bed is having its rooms named by plants ("Yucca", "Zamia"...), our room named "Zamia" also had toilet and a bathroom. The rest of them seem to have shared toilets and shower.
Kitchen is shared, friendly open style, yet a bit small if other residents want to use it at the same time. Breakfast choice is a bit basic (milk, coffee, cookies, jam) yet you can bring your own goods from a nearby market-store and store it then in your own dedicated area in the refrigerator and in the kitchen itself.
Martini Bed is located in the 3rd floor, 66 steps or reachable also with an elevator.
Wi-fi is complementary, however during the time of our stay did not work properly - the registration through social networks is a bit hard to get it work.
TV with local channels is also available.
For a family like ours who came by car location is excellent. Coming on a Sunday I managed to find a free parking spot very nearby, which was also very convenient.
Nearby takeaway pizza's are also a good choice to take, when you are returning tired from strolling from the Rome city center. Metro could be very crowded and hot, therefore make sure you have enough energy and you are not afraid of being squeezed by crowd. In that case wait for another train, it comes in minutes.
What I disliked ? Nothing, all was fine. The only thing is that my short 3 nights stay passed too quickly. I am sure I had not enough time nor ability to see it all, that is why I would need to return to Rome....
... and take Martini Bed again for my preferred choice to stay.
- 930kimberlyc (10/5): Awesome! - We visited Rome for the first time and some local friends recommended we stay here. It was really affordable and the rooms are spacious and clean. We had a nice-sized bathroom in our room, it was clean and there were plenty of towels. Paolo greeted us when we arrived and within minutes he felt like a good friend. He sat us down and showed us on a map all the places we should visit and how to get there. There is a shared kitchen with an excellent espresso maker that I took full advantage of at all times during the day and night. The B&B is located very conveniently next to a Metro stop that is very easy to navigate as there are only two lines. Also, there are several good restaurants in the area, in fact, across the street is a restaurant that served the best pizza we have ever eaten! Definitely recommend this place, we will be staying here on future visits!
- 550ellat (10/5): excellent choice for budget tourists - There are nice and clean rooms and the most important is great location close to the centre. Staff is nice and friendly, able to advise about sightseeing, they prepare a good map for its guests. Wifi and even free netbook for the guests. :))))
- shanem64 (10/5): Next time I'm in Rome, Martini Bed will be first on the booking list! - I found Martini Bed untypically through a sister site for cycling tourists. Paolo, a Rome local native, owns and manages this little gem and really makes the effort to share what he knows of the city! I felt as if I could navigate my way around the city center much more easily after Paolo's pointers. It's very clean, each room has its own unique ambiance, and it's less than 5 minute's walk from a direct Metro downtown.
If you're looking for a personal BnB in Rome, particularly one that treats you with respect despite having to travel on a budget... this is one of the better one's that the city has to offer.
- FC_POA (8/5): A good choice - Martini Bed is an apartment in a building with a good ratio of cost versus benefit. Furthermore, Paolo, the owner, is a very friendly and helpful.
-Location: a bit far from the downtown, but very close to a metro station. The neighborhood is very quiet, with very restaurants and other services.
-Room: comfortable and clean.
-Breakfast: in a shared kitchen with juice box, coffee, milk, cereal, cakes, cookies, etc.
- Pinki (4/5): Nice Man but an average hotel - Its an average B&B, which is an apartment compartmentalised, the room is OK bathroom is too small. The owner provides breakfast which is pretty much self service(though good and fresh choices). Doesnt provide any Shampoo or shower unless asked which was strange, also teh rooms are not cleaned everyday again unlike other standard B&B's, location is good quite near to tube station and east to connect to central Rome. The owner is a good man and very helpful too. But if you are from UK and looking for traditional B&B's then you are up for dissappointment.
