- Fallon (2/5): Worst Hotel Experience Ever! No Sleep - 1-Star Review This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. There was incredibly loud construction right outside my window from midnight to 9am every night, and I couldn’t sleep at all. When I asked to switch rooms, they refused. The cleaning service didn’t restock basic toilet paper, and I ended up having to use facial tissues in the middle of the night because it was too late for me to ask for more. The original 2 rolls in the room were used and 90% finished when I arrived on my first day. The walls were paper thin, and I was constantly disturbed by doors slamming all night long. On top of that, they didn’t accept American Express, which was the only card I had on me. Because of this, the front desk assumed I was leaving and didn’t give me a room key. Their concierge never notified me when my food arrived, and their phone system was down, so I couldn’t reach anyone at the front desk. I even tried calling their 1-800 number and was kept on hold for 20 minutes before being disconnected. There were about 8 holes in the walls from art they took down that they didn’t even patch up. Everything about the stay was frustrating, from the lack of sleep to the poor communication and service. I would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone.
- Alfredo (2/5): - DO NOT COME TO THIS HOTEL. There are so many in the area, and any money you may save by getting a cheaper room in this hole is not worth it. My room was in the ninth floor, and it was incredibly noisy and incredibly cold. I could deal with this, but then on my first night (around 12:30 AM) I found so many bed bugs in my bed. When I complained in the lobby they switched me to another inferior room. The next day I talked to the manager, and he was apathetic at best. He seemed to imply that I could be making what happened to me up, until I showed him the video I took of the bugs and he switched his tone up a bit. I also asked for further compensation, and he sarcastically said “I assume you want money?”, as if I was some sort of opportunist for asking for something for my troubles. He told me that another manager would reach out to me through email, and so I waited. This other manager eventually sent me such a disappointing response, one where he: Implied that there was only one bug Copied the first paragraph of the wikipedia page for mites Seemed to think that they had no control over the fact that there were bugs in my bed Did not offer any extra compensation I sent a reply, and to this day, this person has not written back. The rest of my stay was soured by this event. The cleaning staff was nice, but that’s about all I can say for this hotel. They also charge you per bag you leave at the front desk if you need to go somewhere after checking out, something other hotels

- Ashutosh (2/5): - They say the first impression is the last impression. So true about this hotel! Your first impression is formed when you try to find the hotel. It's surprisingly hidden under big, bold signs of 'Psychic Reading' on the door. It didn't bother me much as I thought it's the inside that matters. Things got worse when I saw the room. The college dorms/hostels are more lavishly furnished than this place. It was simply atrocious. To make matters worse, the window air conditioner will make loud noise every minute. Asked for a different room and was told none is available. Asked for the manager and no manager is available. A completely callous attitude towards guests. Had to turn the AC off to be able to sleep at night. When I asked for manager's phone number I was given the general email address of the hotel. In other words, they could care less for you. I generally don't like to write negative reviews. But this experience made me realize that I'd be doing my fellow travelers a disservice if I didn't warn them about the perils of staying at this hotel. Avoid this place like plague!!

- Virginia (8/5): Great location but very basic accommodations - This property is in a great location, priced well for a family, but it is very basic. No central HVAC (it had a window unit for AC and heat), the floor was uneven in spots and the furniture was very thin and unstable.

- Natale (8/5): Clean but not cosy - The property is in an amazing central location. The desk staff were sweet as well as the cleaning team. There didn’t seem to be any noticeable security, but I did not have any problems. The room was adequate, but the walls were thin and there was no double glazing on the window, making it noisy and chilly. There is no central heat, but a plug in heater was provided. I slept in a fleece jacket. The bedding was clean, but thin and not great quality. There was a microwave and a two plate stove plus a kitchen unit with a sink. The top drawers of the unit were missing however and the sink drain did not connect to anything/was not plumbed nor were the taps. There were also no mugs, bowls, pots or utensils to make the use of the microwave or stove top practical. The only light fitting was a bright fluorescent one. The bathroom was very clean and had a nice shower. Overall this is actually a reasonable option if you are on a budget, considering the area, but the room is not for hanging out in as it’s neither cosy nor comfortable.

- Kerry (10/5): Hotel 27 Lux Urban - The rooms are small; but, it was perfect for me as I traveled solo. Its location is perfect as you are close to Empire State Building & a quick subway ride or cab will take you to Central Park which is around 58th Street and 6th Avenue. If in good shape, walk on 5th Avenue and the Plaza Hotel is on the left & across the street Central Park South is Central Park. It’s worth going there! You are also close to Gramacy Park & 23rd Avenue & 6th or 7th Street u will find the iconic Chelsea Hotel. There are great restaurants down there also. I had a great stay! And would come again! It’s totally reasonable if you are on a severe budget as I am! Good luck in choosing your hotel!

- KJB1520 (4/5): Not recommended... - This is a very honest review. Be aware that most of the photos on this review site do not reflect the hotel we stayed at (and it was the same hotel). This facility is not 4-star average even based on NYC standards. Pros... Location good (for us anyway) Staff friendly and kind Bed ok (if you book a 'Queen' room you get a large 'Twin' bed - but I would question cleanliness based on rest of experience (I know - yuk). No NYC style rip-off daily 'resort fees' for bottle water and wifi. For NYC the room size was slightly above our prior experiences but was incredibly basic. One overhead light, one very cheap and almost useless bed-side light and one bedside table (that was falling apart). Small desk and chair. That was it. Stark clinical white walls (which I washed because....)! Fridge actually did work. Whole Foods across the street. Close to Slate and Seven Grains (and the dog park!). Cons... 1. Very basic rooms with bashed up furniture. Deep cleaned our room when I got there. Mold on bathroom window and in shower. No extractor fan in the very small bathroom meaning whatever you dealt you smelt for hours! 2. 10th floor and told to run shower for 10-15 minutes to get hot water. Had a few very chilly showers. 3. Was told our room was ready when we arrived at noon but then told we had to pay $25 to check in before 3pm (on top of the amount we paid for the room). 4. After spending $100's on room for 3 nights, told $5/bag to store on check out. 5. No in-room facilities like coffee maker. 6. In-room microwave did not work. 7. HVAC is an in window unit and behind only curtain in room - it would cycle on every 30 seconds or so making it impossible to leave on overnight. So, room cold in morning. Also if you run it at night , the curtain billows in so you get a full light show from Madison/27th street. 8. Room window so dirty could not see down to street level from 10th floor. 9. Door deadlock bolt not operable from inside of room. 10. Had to continually ask for bath towels for 2. Only one left each day. 11. Ran out of toilet paper. Had to go down to reception to ask for more. Was not replaced by room service. 12. Charged $150 security deposit (there was nothing to steal!!!) and apparently it takes up to 7b days to return after you check out. 13. No security on elevators (i.e. scan room card to access bedroom floors)... anyone could walk in (on multiple times there was no-one obviously on reception). 14. Entrance was actually v. difficult to locate. Look for a tacky pink-themed physic store front on Madison. 15. No bathroom amenities like shampoo or shower gel. 16. Room had clearly seem some interesting times given number of patches on wall and doors! 17. Excessive noise intrusion from adjacent rooms and corridors. Lots of light intrusion around door frame. This was one of the poorer hotel experiences we have had when staying in NYC, especially in this area - in fact it wasn't really an 'experience' - we stayed 3 nights, pre-paid through Expedia and almost checked out after first night to go somewhere else. That being said, in our experience NYC hotels really don't offer much to their customers. Will not be back.

Could not see out the window (too dirty), microwave did not work, heater/AC cycled every 30 secs and noisy. Bed okay but rest of very limited furniture was cheap, broken or battered. - Verified traveler (8/5): Good central budget hotel - Stayed for 2 weeks for a solo trip. Good budget hotel without the frills. Well located centrally. Only issue was the heater struggling to keep up with the freezing temperatures outside. They got me a portable additional heater. I was on the 10th floor so the hot water to 5 to 15 mns to get ready. The few towels hooks are placed so high (7ft?) that pretty much unreachable. Could benefit from coat hanger near the door and a surface to place toiletries bags in bathroom. Aside from these minor issues, the hotel was good and staff very nice and helpful. Would stay again.

- Melanie (8/5): - This hotel is in a fantastic location right in the heart of the Flatiron District, with countless amazing restaurants and bars just a 5-10 minute walk away. The service was excellent, making our stay even more enjoyable. While the room was fairly basic, it served its purpose perfectly – we didn’t come to NYC to spend the whole weekend indoors! It offered a warm, clean space with a comfortable bed and bathroom, which was all we needed. Simple, cozy, and just right for a city getaway!

- Marcela (4/5): - Im going to start by saying the location is excellent. The subway is very close to the hotel and it’s only about a 20 minute walk to timesquare. It’s very centralized to all the tourist spots. With that being said the hotel is very hidden and hard to find. In addition, the rooms are incredibly small. The shower didn’t drain, the TV didn’t work and the bed felt like it was about to break. I tripped on the flooring right outside of my room every single time, it looks like they had some sort of water damage and the flooring is buckling. The hotel itself isn’t well maintained at all however the location does make up for it. For the price what can you really ask for.

- Madison (8/5): - Good location but the rooms are pretty small but the bathroom is good size. Our keycards stopped working one day and the staff was pretty quick to resolve the issue and were friendly.
- Jeremy (6/5): - It was a little hard to find because there is only one easy to miss sign on the door that is shared with another business. My wife and I had a small room with an awkwardly positioned TV but a large bathroom and shower. My son had a larger room with a small bathroom and shower. Overall, our stay was really comfortable, quiet and safe and the staff was really friendly and helpful. The best part for us was that Hotel 27 is right in the middle of within walking distance of all the dining, sights and shopping we were interested. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Hotel 27 again if we ever make another trip to New York.

It was hard to find the entrance because it looks different than in the pictures on google maps. overall I really recommend it I am glad that we chose this hotel with my family 🏨♥️

- Whitney (10/5): - We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It took a bit to find because the signage isn't the best. We saw the flowers and sign for the psychic but missed the small hotel 27 sign and had to call the front desk. The room was very small but to be expected in nyc. Location is amazing! Away from the hustle and bustle but close to everything. Loved the mini fridge and microwave. Also, amazing to have a fire stick to stream.

- Farah (6/5): - The front desk staff was great. The room was small, dirty windows, dirty floor, no hot water had to leave showering running for 15-30 mins. Towels smelled of chemicals and when booking there was free breakfast adverstised but no free breakfast was available.
