The ladies helped us by providing a map of the area and when we said we were interested in subway, they gave us a subte card with specific directions! When we were checking out , she (I feel horrible that I forget the managers name because so very helpful), not onky arranged an uber for us, but she paid for it with her personal credit card! That was so helpful! The Boutique was in an elegant, historic building that had beautiful details, high celings, stained glass windows, beautifultile work, and tall doors with old fashioned locks and keys! The bed was very comfortable and the location was perfect for either walking to incredible restaurant, like Violetas, or taking the subway into the commercial zone.

The hosts were very helpful and kind, giving us great restaurant advice. Bed was comfortable; mini-split AC did a good job keeping us cool. Bathroom small but OK. Building itself very quaint and historic.

• F4786GVmariaa (10/5): Buenos Aires hotel feels like home - I happened to find this hotel thru Expedia. I stayed here for four days. The hotel is small and intimate and has 12 rooms. The hotel reflects old Buenos Aires, the rooms have been renovated, high ceilings. Quite and friendly staff. Great neighborhood - I felt safe. I choose a room with a balcony facing the street and it was lovely.
• Juan (10/5): A wonderful experience in a historic neighborhood - We have a wonderful experience in this Hotel. The hotel has a excellent location in middle of Almagro. You can find around many goods restaurants near (specially LAS VIOLETAS), supermarkets (COTTO and Carefour), groceries (if the supermarkets are closed), caffe shops, bakeries, cinemas (Cinemark in Caballito and El Abasto). About public transportation, the station CASTRO BARROS (line A) is 5 minutes walking, also you will be near important avenues where take buses (cole) that run to different places of Buenos Aires. The hotel is so beautiful, keeping the style of old house, with all the accomodations for you stay (air conditionig, wifi, TV). Definitely, I would return to the hotel if I travel to Buenos Aires again.

The building itself is old and not what a standard hotel is nowadays. It has super higher ceiling, a little sound isolation. Rooms are bit big but enough for sleeping. Overall, it’s good for the price.

• liza (10/5): - This is a boutique hotel. And the only thing to note here is that a guest has to leave their key each time you leave the room or hotel. You’d have to ring the doorbell each time you come back in to the hotel. The front is not always manned. So in that sense you feel kind of restricted and cannot freely come in an out of your room without “bothering” someone. It is a very pretty, quaint, and has an “authentic” feel to it. No fridge available and as most South American hotels, TV is only in Spanish (either Spanish programming or dubbed in Spanish. Very friendly staff though some not English-speaking.
• 685wellnesss (10/5): Great spot in BA - I came across this beautiful place just by chance, when my flight was cancelled due to the new pandemic restrictions and had basically nowhere to spend the night at. Luckily I found a room at Raco Hotel through Booking.com and made a last minute reservation (best decision ever!) I was inmediately contacted by the front desk manager, Natalia, who very kindly offered to arrange a taxi for me from Ezeiza airport (it was close to midnight and the international airport is 25.000 miles away from the city), so I accepted at once - The hotel itself is more like a guest house; a magnificient and wonderfully conserved 19th century building, with a large patio and lots of open air spaces (a great tip to have into account in these "new reality" times). The rooms are clean and cozy, and the recepcionist (Carolina) was very friendly, making me feel at home as soon as I arrived. She suggested me to have a wake up call, since my flight departed early in the morning. All in all, I had a short but very satisfactory stay, and definitely recomend this lovely small hotel
• loftum (10/5): Live where the Porteños live! Peaceful and boutique - Almagro is no way the first area you visit as tourist in BsAs. There’s simply not that much happening there. That's of course the exact same reason why you also get that sought after «authentic» experience, and you wouldn’t want to miss it. The happenings of Microcentro/Palermo are still pretty close, and in Almagro you feel like a Porteño. The streets are calm and leafy and the restaurants lively and local. Nearby Avenida Rivadavia is a noisy, charming mess and timeless Café Violetas the essence of BsAs cafés. The hotel is boutique and peaceful, with its narrow chess tiled two floored patio, green plants and surrounding rooms. The red room on the second is spacious and clean, with a huge comfortable bed. The calmness of the patio makes reading in the doorway with a cold Quilmes a delight. The staff is really helpful and professional, in the friendly and personal way. There are some challenges with the water; it sometimes disappears, or the hot water takes a while. I also think the breakfast could be even better outside in the daylight patio, instead of the darker basement. The overall experience is however a great value choice you should definitely try, for a nice Porteño feel.
• robjar (8/5): Charming - It’s a renovated old hotel with many original features. In many ways it’s very quaint. I had a balcony but the door on the outside was not well maintained. The fixtures and fittings are a good standard but for some reason it took a long time for hot water to come out of the shower. The staff are lovely and friendly. There is no signage on the door so keep buzzing to get someone to come to the door.

• davidsX2924FG (10/5): A very nice experience, well worth the money! - After staying at hostels in Buenos Aires for 3 months, sharing rooms with sweaty back-packers, I thought I'd treat myself with a private room in a nice hotel for my last week there. Next to Holiday-in's and Hilton's this was one of the cheapest nice hotels I could find and I had as good of an experience here as I would have, had I stayed at any of the expensive, big-chain hotels. The staff was sweet, competent and helpful. (Leo, one of the receptionists, is the only Norwegian speaking non-Norwegian I have ever met abroad!) My room had it's own little balcony, and a very spacious shower. There is a big living area in the basement with comfortable colours and chairs, nice for relaxing evenings. The location is very nice, a few minutes with the u-train and you are in the centrum area. This is definitely the place to stay for a week or two in Buenos Aires!

• Rachel (10/5): A beautiful hotel with wonderful staff - This hotel was so stylish and in keeping with Buenos Aires architecture. It was lovely to not stay in a big chain, corporate hotel. The staff were incredibly welcoming, kind and gave a great restaurant recommendation. The room was homely, comfortable and unique. It was the perfect place to stay for our last night in Argentina.
• nikkleby (10/5): A Great Introduction to Buenos Aires - This Hotel seemed to characterise the very many varied charms of the city itself. The hotel staff were always very polite, friendly and helpful; the region, about 5 kms from the Plaza de Mayo, was memorable for both the wrong and right reasons - along the narrow one-way streets there were many poorly maintained pavements and plenty of dog poo. But within a 5-10 minute walk of the Hotel there are some fascinating restaurants (the very elegant Cafe Las Violetas, the very down-to-earth Pan Y Arte in Avenido Boedo and, opposite, another classic restaurant, Cafe Margot). We used the Subte Underground (borrowing a SUBE card from the Hotel) to get out and about; an efficient and (despite warnings of pickpockets etc.) always a trouble free experience. Also, within sight (and sound) of the Hotel is the Church in which Pope Francis was baptised. This street, wider, with traffic both ways, was lined with plane trees just beginning to show their autumn colours. It was a varied experience staying at the Boutique Raco - in the best possible way.

• jcdt (10/5): I am again in "Hotel Raco de Buenos Aires". - I have been several times in Hotel Raco, and since I am here again, I want to tell you all that I had written before, but instead of "repeating", I will say the following: if you are coming to Buenos Aires, then THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE. After you have read all my descriptions, you will notice that being here you are in a delicate "family" and you will feel relaxed, excelently treated, and you will not be wishing to depart! Enjoy the breakfast, come out and enjoy the nice restaurants around this area and board the Line A subway, go downtown and visit the different parts of the city .... and returning, you will be in the "home away from home. • Sulablula (10/5): Charming hotel with welcoming and helpful staff - Had a lovely stay here. Staff were friendly and helpful, making a great recommendation for breakfast in particular, Las Violetas on Av. Rivadavia - scrumptious and stylish interior. Close to transport links (10 min or so walk).

• Oppsa (10/5): Lovely stay at the Boutique Raco - This is a lovely hotel. It is a historical building, well maintained. The people who work there (Virginia, Natalie and Leo) are among some of the warmest and kindest people we've met in the Hospitality industry. The room we were given is very nice and unique. It is spacious and clean. The hotel location is easy walk to the public transportation. It feels very safe for us to walk around the neighborhood. There are three schools just a few streets from the hotel, so during weekdays, we see a lot of students around. During weekend, it is peaceful and quite. There are lots of restaurants around the hotel. I would highly recommend you to stay with this hotel. We did had a very unfortunate incident, where our last night before we leave for Puerto Iguazu, the water supply broke down and we had no water for the night, the next morning, we had to have cold shower before we leave. That was quite an experience, and we dare not take water and hot showers for granted anymore ! The staff tried their best to help, but it was totally not their fault. It was just an incident that could have happened anywhere. I am sure they were also very stressed about the situation. We came back for one more night after our Iguazu trip, before we flew out and hot water was back and we had a good sleep. All is well. They do not offer breakfast but we went to a local cafe up the road which serves lovely food. Not big deal at all.
• Marnie (10/5): Comfortable and safe hotel - Hotel Boutique Raco was a wonderful and safe place to stay while visiting Buenos Aires. The staff are very friendly and accommodating: available for directions and traveling advice. The breakfasts are wonderful and filling. It is a safe place to stay in the lovely neighborhood of Almagro. While there, I was told the subway system is very easy...and it was. They let me borrow a "subte" card which I filled for my trips and returned before the end of my trip. I would definitely stay here again. It is on what seems to be on a side street, less traffic. You will definitely be able to sleep soundly after a long day of sightseeing.

The bathroom was a bit disconcerting at first as the windows (which go down to the floor) are facing the walkway but we soon got used to that. Would be nice to have tea making facilities in the room. Would certainly return.

• 838katherineh (10/5): Lovely hotel & neighborhood! - What a lovely hotel! The building is over 100 years old -- original floors, ceilings, doors, etc. Photos reflect what you get in person. All the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and their English was fantastic. We had previously stayed in Puerto Madero, but felt more comfortable and safe in this neighborhood. The hotel has several churches and schools nearby so you get to see how the locals live....you walk next to people picking up their kids from school, taking groceries home, etc. We wished we could have stayed a few extra nights. If they have availability, book a room! You will be glad you did!

• wilyi (10/5): Excellent value and great locatoon - This small hotel is located in a suburban area close to a Subte ststion, restaurants and shops. The area is not a tourist hot spot and therin lies its charm. We had several meals at local cafes and none disappointed us. The hotel is an old building with large rooms and an imposing entrance and hallway. The room was well maintained and everything worked. The front desk staff in Natalia and Virginia are two of the most helpful hotel staff we have come across anywhere in the world. Their local knowledge was first class, their English exceptional, iand their willingness to make our stay enjoyable was much appreciated.

• SWATTWorld (10/5): Excellent Hotel - very authentic and private. - Do you want to feel like you are actually in Argentina? or do you prefer a tower Chain hotel. Hey i'm the first to stay at the Hilton when I can but I've got to tell you - this quite, beautiful Hotel is paradise. With large rooms and bathrooms, nice breakfast and just down the street from the Red line subway (20 minutes to downtown) - this place is a gem. ALSO - Pope Francis was baptized in a beautiful church around the corner. You don't have to be religious to check this church out - it's fantastic.

Hotel Boutique RACÓ DE BUENOS AIRES Dear readers of Trip Advisor, Again from December 26, 2015 until January 22, 2016 I stayed twice at the Hotel Boutique Racó de Buenos Aires. As expected, the staying there was a most beautiful way to be at a hotel, and the “feeling” was that the Hotel Boutique was getting better and better. The owner's family had an antique 1900 house in a very nice neighborhood, and they updated it keeping the unique, elegant, attractive old elegance, and offering comfort, cleanliness and quality. The rooms are large, comfortable, with ample space to place your clothes, an up-to-date complete bathroom, linen of top quality, and even if you look at the photos in their Internet description, the reality is that you are in a palatial place, PLUS the fact that you are going to be treated royally. The Racó is family run, and the Staff are young University students, speaking excellent English and are up-to-date in classical knowledge of what is offered in Buenos Aires Also superb dual rooms at the second floor, elegant and inviting. The environment makes you feel not only comfortable, but also “warmly inviting”. The breakfasts and later coffee with sandwiches are delicate, delicious and very well provided. The Staff is unique and they will make sure, with a warm smile, that your needs are taken care of. The “attention to detail” is available constantly, and you never feel “forgotten, abandoned or dismissed”. You are for the Staff a “VIP”. Julián and Vanesa (the owners with their delightful daughter Carolina) are there “for you”, and the Staff (Virginia, Natalia, Leonardo, Marcos) will constantly make sure that your questions and needs are taken care of. The cleaning staff (sorry I have forgotten their names) make everything look “brand new” constantly. I am preparing for another couple of trips to Buenos Aires towards the end of March and beginning of April and OF COURSE I will again stay at the Racó: “Nothing but the best”. • WarhorseSaloon (10/5): A great welcome to Buenos Aires - Highly recommended for a first visit. It is out of the tourist areas but convienient by taxi or metro. Best to take the reasonably priced taxi and see local communities rather than the underground metro which is a couple of blocks from the hotel and almost free! We used both daily. Neighborhood restaurants are great, just ask Virgina at the front desks for ideas. Neighborhood is safe, rooms are as advertised...no surprises which is good after a long flight. Everybody at the hotel speaks very good english and goes out of there way to make your stay is as good as can be hoped for. Virginia and staff are the best hotel staff we have encountered in years of travelling. Your first day you might think the hotel is out of the way but by the end of a busy touring day you will really appreciate the quite and solutude!

• Theo (6/5): Mixed bag - The hotel is an absolutely beautifully restored period house. The room was nicely furnished and clean. The staff was polite and provided useful info. However, like other reviewers noted, almost all the extra services are priced substantially above market rate and seem meant to extract as much money as possible from you. That includes the taxi rides to the airport, the exchange rate that you are offered (12:1 from Raco vs 14:1 or 15:1 available on the market) and the rates that they quote you if you want to extend your stay (was quoted about 15% above Travelocity for exact same room by hotel staff, then they tried to play difficult by saying they had no availability). Bottom line, when it comes to money the smiles fade and the claws come out.
• Janbon (8/5): Peaceful neighborhood in Buenos Aires - We decided to spend a few days exploring Buenos Aires after disembarking from a cruise ship. This was a great location for us, and the hotel a good value, from which to explore different neighborhoods of the city. The subway is a few easily walked blocks away. Also nearby are banks, ATMS, stores, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, and more. We liked not being in the midst of the city center, with its crowds and noise. Coming back to our cool, comfortable room in Almagro was relaxing. The staff was very helpful when we needed to leave our bags and, when we left, order a taxi.
• Alexey (6/5): Mixed feelings - I feel a little bit guilty giving this hotel 'average' mark, because the people who work there are very nice and take a great pride in their hotel - but I believe we should rely on our own experience here, to help painting the full picture. The best thing about this hotel is that it is beautiful. And authentic. You can definitely see how much effort was put in preserving its original character which is priceless. The decoration is very tasteful and of good quality, the bed and sheets are very comfy. Though this does not come without a compromise. Due to peculiar layout/construction of the rooms there is almost no sound proofing: on the first night we indulged in listening to quite loud arguments of the couple next door - which continued in the morning (it's a shame we could not understand the subject of their quarrels - might be more entertaining). On the second night there was a sort of a party or television noise going well into 2am keeping us awake even after a long day of sightseeing. We don't know how often noise is the problem, but it was a problem for us on both nights of our two day stay. And one final remark is about the transfers the hotel is offering. I understand the convenience of a personal pick up option, but I am not sure why some reviewers here are led to believe that it is the cheapest option: Ezeiza taxi (could not be more official with the stand in the arrivals hall of the airport) will cost "only" $34, and a normal metered taxi from the taxi stand at
• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice boutique hotel - Classic period home, beautiful furnishings, very clean. Those are the good parts. Now for the not so nice part: I got lots of mind games from the staff and the owner when trying to check out late. Our flight was close to midnight the day of checkout, and we wanted to be able to shower / get ready for the long 10 hour flight back home after a day of sightseeing -- that's why we asked for a late checkout. We asked the night before, and one of the staff members quoted us a half day rate that was higher (on a daily basis) than we had paid on any of the previous days and insisted on mandatory checkout at 6 PM. This was more $$ for a half day, and it was not even 12 hours, so we naturally said no. Then the next morning, we asked the owner directly about late checkout. He claimed he couldn't extend our room due to unavailability and high seasonal demand (this had been possible just the night before, wow!). I checked Travelocity and surprise! -- no problem with availability -- 3 rooms just like it were available. I extended for another day on Travelocity and went down to notify the owner who begrudgingly had to honor my new Travelocity booking. Overall, it felt like they were trying to extract the maximum amount of money from us (which they got thanks to us booking another entire day, congrats!), and not paying attention to our needs. Not a nice experience.

The receptionist when I checked spoke very good English and gave me all the information I needed about my stay and key places surrounding the hotel. The highlight of my stay was the room and how comfortable it was! It is winter in Buenos Aires currently and coming in to the warm and cozy room was amazing. It was well furnished and chic. The bed was so comfortable I ended up sleeping right away and ditching my plan to go out for dinner. Upon check out, they remained consistent in service which was great.

They changed my room to a King sized room the next day with no charge. The hotel is a renovated home with tall ceilings and modern baths. It has a pleasant air and fits the boutique hotel class well.

The room was modern with a nice bathroom and very soft sheets. The district the hotel is in is just outside the centre and a very easy metro ride away, however it is not a touristy area at all, we felt comfortable and safe as we had already been staying in BA in Palermo but if it was your first time in BA or South America and you're not very adventurous then this may be too off the beaten track for some.

If you want to be in a small hotel in a quiet area yet only be 15 minutes from the action then you will not be disappointed.

But not a particularly nice area I'm afraid - handy for the Subte, which is about 5 minutes away, but there are quite a few homeless men on the corners, and the pavements are dirty - no laws about picking up after your dogs............ To be fair, there was no begging, and no approach made to us by the homeless, but it just felt slightly uncomfortable especially late at night.

• HVM (10/5): An oasis of calm in a busy city - The hotel was a lovely place to start and end our stay in Argentina. Calm, clean, pretty, safe and well placed with good transport links to all parts of the city. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the court yard was a lovely retreat and it was a pleasure to return to the room after a busy day in Buenos Aires. We were given great advice for travelling around and the staff even lent us a travel card for cheaper travel on the subway and buses. Taxi transfers from and to the airport, organised through the hotel, eased the stress of travel and we were lucky to have a chatty and friendly driver who gave us a great introduction to the city.

• David H (10/5): Great Boutique Hotel! STRONGLY RECOMMEND! - My wife and I stayed here for our second year anniversary and we truly enjoyed our stay. The location gave a great view of an outlying neighborhood and the beauty areas outside of down town (Microcentro) has to offer. The hotel is well connected by bus and train so it isn't to difficult to get around but if you want to roll out of bed this hotel is a little out of the thick of things. The hotel is really beautiful and is converted classic house. Everything was clean and comfortable and you get the feeling that you are staying in the house of a wealthy friend. The staff is tremendously well informed and friendly. They are competent in both English and Spanish and were more than willing to help. My wife and I have traveled to many cities and countries and we would strongly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to see more than just downtown and want the feel of a boutique hotel. Keep in mind it is a boutique and not a 5 star hotel so you won't get all the features of the more expensive grand hotels but you will be supporting the local economy and feeling what it is like for many in Buenos Aires.

The location is a bit far from the center but with the subway it was not a real problem.

The hotel's neighborhood, however, is not perfect. While there are nice restaraunts, a small store, and a nearby subway entrance, our drivers all warned us to be extra careful due to the populace of the neighborhood. We spotted a few homeless people sleeping very nearby. With that said, the nieghborhood seemed safe during the day and it was quiet and peaceful. We would definitely stay there again.

• Jane (6/5): Not as expected - We thought this hotel was in a nicer section of town but there was trash on the streets and people sleeping on the sidewalk nearby. There are no windows in the rooms, no hair dryer and the appointments in the room were average. Dark brown sheets are not my favorite. Different than I expected but ok in a pinch. Probably too small a facility for kids.
• Francis (10/5): Surprisingly chic and stylish - I'm not one of those 5* rating sheep, believe me. I do however give this hotel 5 stars because it was absolutely amazing for the price. It really is a boutique hotel (the attention to detail is there for all to see) and the staff are particularly friendly and helpful (unlike the Circus Hotel where we stayed a week earlier). If you don't know Buenos Aires I would say that the location isn't perfect, but was absolutely fine for us. It's a short taxi ride to the night life in Palermo, as it is also to San Telmo. La Boca is a bit further, and you can take the metro about 6 stops down to Centro. It's superb value for money, so maybe the average location is why it's not as expensive as it looks. There is free wifi with range extenders. I did find however that in the corner of my room I couldn't connect reliably and had to walk nearer the door for bigger pages. I think they should reposition at least one of the extenders. A little tip - If you want to eat good food with the locals at super cheap prices head to a place called La Siciliano (or something very similar) 2 blocks away on the corner of Quito and Colombres. I would definitely stay here again, in fact I made that mental note within the first day of staying there. I just wish I was with my girlfriend and not a guy from my rugby team(!!) because it's definitely somewhere the ladies would find particularly pleasant due to the decor and vibe.
• Peter (10/5): Top Boutique Hotel - As boutique hotels go, this one is excellent. Room was in traditional style but with nice modern bathroom. Family run, with a locked front door, means everything in your room is safe. No need to hand your laptop to security etc.The highlight was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff who speak fluent English. If you like wine you will love this hotel as the owner is an expert and guides you through the extraordinary range of Argentinian wines - including tastings if you wish. Great place.
• AJM (8/5): An interesting boutique Hotel in Almagro - We stayed a couple of nights after returning from Patagonia. This is a small boutique Hotel far away from the tourist sights of Buenos Aires. The subway is very close, so in principle you could just ride to the center of town quickly. During our stay there was a "Subte" (metro or underground) strike, so we could not do that. The buses were extremely crowded and so we had to use Taxis which were O.K. but a bit expensive because of the long distance and traffic jams. There are two problems with this Hotel for tourists: 1) It is far away from tourist sites. 2) It is a charming old house but it has no central heating and the phone does not work in between rooms. If you go outside your room, you go outdoors in the cold. It has very nice wooden floor but they made creaking sounds every time anybody steps on them. The fan heater inside my room was very noisy too. As a result if you are a light sleeper there is too much noise in the room. I also had a very noisy english couple staying in the next room during my second night and I had to go out in the cold in the middle of the night to ask them to keep quiet! Having stayed previously in more centraly located hotels in Buenos Aires (but more expensive), I think I can not recommend this Hotel without reservations. On the other hand the staff is absolutely wonderful, charming and helpful. They really care for their guests down to every possible little detail and that can compensate any shortcomings.

• Vinay (10/5): Beautiful Hotel - a must stay! - A fantastic boutique hotel! The service is truly 5 stars, and the staff is both welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area. I truly enjoyed my stay and will certainly use Hotel Boutique Raco Buenos Aires whenever I return to BA. Our rooms were both comfortable and well decorated, and the bathroom is modern - a nice find in such a traditional house. Shower quality is fantastic for BA and the hotel is both secure and well located. I have had the opportunity to see many hotels in South America for work, and I highly rate this hotel amongst my favorites!

• Jill (10/5): Great Visit - Had a great time at Raco de Buenos Aires. It was situated in a great neighborhood around many reasonable and authentic restaurants. The hotel is located close to the subte (subway) with a line going straight downtown, the line ends at the "pink house." The hotel staff speak english fluently (if traveling from an english speaking country), and they have many great ideas and tips when traveling to Buenos Aires. The hotel is very preserved from the 1900's and is so unique! Overall, money well spent and a fun stay in BA.
• RAMESH (8/5): CUTE AND COSY - Quiet and cute, away from the main hub. The owner, his little son and the staff personally attend to you and make you feel at home. They went out of their way to give me fruits as I was late in arriving and helped me with a fabulous city tour. Without hesitation they offered me a hot cup of tea when I came back after the city tour and wanted it badly as it was cold. On the whole, if you want personalised service, this is a fine place though not in the heart of the city.
