Guest Reviews
- Rupa (2/5): - I'm still surprised this place is standing!
- Sachin (4/5): - grout and mold in the bathroom.. Tap and Shower have rust stain..all floor was dirty.. Whole room had bad smell.
- Angeline Paola (6/5): - The property is accessible to all sorts of transportation, it is also near food stores and restaurants. However, the room doesn’t look clean. The room is not well ventilated, the carpet is dirty and the water supply is weak.
- Malcolm (4/5): - Was allocated room on first floortold receptionist due to arthritis needed ground floor room she just shrugged her shoulders.Consequently when neede to exit and enter hotel had to rely pn friends to help me up and down the stairs
- Courtney (2/5): - Property needs updating and cleaning and propperly fitted carpets
- Malcolm (8/5): - Surprisingly quiet despite being located in middle of Golders Green
Literlly 2minuteswalk to bus stops
5 minutes to Golders Green Underground Station
- mark (2/5): - I can honestly say that i have never stayed in such a filthy, unkept dangerous place in my life. It is not fit to be open for business and should be condemned, how they are allowed to trade is beyond me. i can only assume that they do not get a visit from environmental health, or just keep a couple of rooms clean that they don't rent out, and let those ones been seen when there is a spot check. I have many more photos than the 8 that i was allowed to upload, which show jest how bad the place is.
Why Expedia allow a property like this to be advertised on their site amazes me, they should be ashamed.
- Anthony (2/5): Hotel from hell!!! - Choosing that hotel was definitely one of the biggest regret of my life! The staff were unnecessary hostile towards me. They didn't want me to use any of the kitchen utensils like oven and microwave! I stayed for 5 nights and my room was cleaned just once! and when I complained I almost got beaten up! I literally bought myself a towel from jst to be on the safe side! I will never recommend the hotel to my worst enemy. Believe me I'm not framing things up I experienced everything firsthand. I wished I never stayed in that HOTEL FROM HELL!!! There's this particular lady, she literally shouted at me and almost got physical just because I wanted my room cleaned!!! Throughout my stay there I bought all my toiletries myself; soaps, shampoo, towel etc. Guys be warned CENTRAL HOTEL GOLDERS GREEN IN LONDON IS A BIG NO NO NO NO FOR ANY GUEST THAT WANTS THEIR SANITY AND CONFORT.
- Loredana (2/5): - The room was very dirty, cold .
I will never recommend and I will never go back again
- Lewis (10/5): - Hotel was ace! No issues.
- Alan (2/5): Do not stay here !!!! - The room is filthy with mould on the windows, on the shower and around the bed.
The bed is no more than a camp bed.
Not comfy.
Coffee sachets provided but no kettle.
No staff around you have to phone a mobile to get anyone.
Room was grotty.
I had to wash myself at the sink as I wouldn’t risk using the bath or shower.
The hotel needs pulling down and rebuilding by someone who actually cares
- Paul (6/5): - Cheap. The train station is near. The room we got is on the ground floor which is good because the luggages are heavy and a feat when climbing stairs. Carpet could use a shampoo and deep clean. Did not see any pests though. Good enough if you just need to sleep and can't find another newer.
- Tedd (8/5): - Great
- Jeremy (10/5): - The Irish girl at reception was very friendly and let me park my car in the car park even though I had checked out. Golders Green High Street is a short walk away as is the Tube Station.
- ILIAS (6/5): - Hotel single room was warm, and bed was ok. It had a private bathroom, although the hang place for the towels was too rusty, it needs change. Generally it was clean, except the drawers, they had small remains of bread. The location is only 10 minutes walking to Golders Green Undergroud, and a bus stop for bus No13 is very close and this is important because this bus has a 24 hrs service ending to Vicoria Station, while meeting a few others Underground stations. Also outside Golders Green Underground there is a bus stop of National Express Coach to Louton airport and to Stansted airport
- Mehrshad (8/5): - Clean, very affordable, nice neighbourhoods, lovely staff
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Shower did not work.
- Lewis (8/5): - No beating around the bush… the place is tired haha, but it served its purpose for the one night. Very much a hostel sort of vibe and that’s what we needed for a match day in London.
Beds were clean and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and had a good sense of humour :p
Plus it was a 5 minute walk from the tram stop.
Cheap and cheerful, was worth the money in my opinion.
- 3 Manchester Lads
- Simon (10/5): - This is basic but clean and affordable accommodation, the outside and public areas look a little tired/dated but don’t be put off, the rooms are clean and tidy, the beds are comfy and it’s quiet. Not sure what more you could ask for the money!
- Helena (2/5): - A very unpleasant stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great value, friendly and basic - We always stay here when in London as it's comfortable, convenient for the Tube, and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Rooms are basic, but functional, and always clean.
- Hannah (6/5): - Get what you pay for. Clean bed with off street parking. No additional facilities, would benefit from decorating.
Kind staff.
Very good location close to the M1 and short walk to the nearest tube station.
Would recommend for the price you pay.
- Peter (2/5): - Rooms were not dusted and floor not hoovered very well. No sign of any housekeeping in the morning. Rooms were very small and felt uncomfortable warm with no air conditioning to try cool down sadly not the greatest of stay 👎
- Paul (8/5): - Cheap and cheerful. Staff were great. Very helpful and very polite. From outside the Hotel looks like it needs a coat of paint and inside it needs some work, but the rooms were big and clean. The bedding and towels were clean and the duvet covers looked new. All helped for a good nights sleep. If anybody complains for what you get for what you pay then you need to think about getting your hand in your pocket to pay for what you really want.
I recommend a walk into the Centre, onto the Old Bull and Bush with its nice interior and lovely outside area then on to Hampstead.
- Katelyn (2/5): - I would not stay in this property again we had a disgusting fridge , shower the ceiling was falling apart there was a fist mark in the door the furniture was broken it was disgusting
- Judith (2/5): - The Hotel looked very rundown from the outside and the room smelled stale, paper peeling off the walls and the skirting boards were black with either mildew/dust/dirt or possibly all 3. I couldn't stay there and turned round and walked away.
- Hongbin (6/5): - Arrived late (after 11pm). Front door was closed. No staff on site. Call the number on the door but no answer. Waited almost half an hour and finally the manager came to check me in.
- Temidayo (6/5): Fair stay - Very good staff response. But the hotel infrastructures needs thorough reconstruction. I didn’t expect a place like that in London. I mean London.
- Nana (2/5): - The whole building and the premises does not represent ahotel, infact your activities need to be banned with immediate effect. The place stinks rite from the entrance to the rooms
- Krystal (2/5): - Toilet seat broken, no toilet paper in bathroom, dirty towels and bedding. Dusty everywhere and rust also. Beds make a lot of queeky noise. As soon as we arrived in the room and noticed the toilet seat was broken, went downstairs to tell the staff, rang the bell no answer no attended no nothing. Hotel staff very unprofessional on check in. They were in silence and looked at the computer monitor the whole time. As soon as we were given the keys, they ran into room number 2 as if to avoid customer complaints about the room. Fire alarm went off Saturday morning early hours of the morning 10am. The false alarm woke me up and I couldn’t get back to sleep after. Again very unprofessional, no explanation why it went off. For the price we paid I don’t think it’s worth it, should have been a lot lower with the faults inside the room. Wouldn’t stay here again, felt like a hostel. It was the worst hotel I have ever been to and I have been to a lot of hotels. This hotel needs a major refurbishment and health inspectors need to visit too.
- James (2/5): - Poor service and unreliable.
- Yu (2/5): - it was a terrible experience, the room was very dirty and needed to switch room but the second room was not better.
- Kieran (2/5): - Property was run down and dirty, toilet seat was hanging off. Smell of weed in reception.
- Marc (6/5): Not a plus - The hotel was in a great location for me. When I needed the staff they were kind of helpful. I pointed out a non-working TV and a non-working light and they apologized and said it would be taken care of-it was not. The beds were substandard-more like a cot with a sagging mattress. There was literally dirt in corners that looked like it had not been cleaned in a very long time.
It was a decent price but for what it was, it was too much..
- Adetoun (6/5): - It’s a no frills hotel but very dated. The experience at reception was inconsistent but it was alright on the whole for a short stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for the price - Looks dated on the outside but the room was clean and well kept. The only issue we found was there was no way to turn off the heated towel rail in the bathroom so it was like a sauna in there. Beds comfy and slept well.
- Cameron (2/5): - Overbooked my room, room was small and I hit my head a lot. Someone walked in on me sleeping even though the door was locked. Poor ventilation. No hot water in the shower. No staff when I went to check out and overall terrible experience. Will not go back
- Lee (4/5): - Dated rooms, bathrooms not clean and ants coming from under the bath in room 4
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Well located and resonably priced are the only good things about this hotel. No tea or milk in the room and bathrrom needs a complete refurb, a blind on the bathrrom window would be good as the it gets very hot.
- stephen (8/5): - stayed in the annexe room small at the top of the building clean but outdated. some trouble with the key on entry but sorted would stay again.
- Kamil (10/5): - I had a pleasant stay. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- rex (8/5): 2 week stay - An older building. Double pane windows. Full kitchen to use. Helpful staff.
- Chris (8/5): Good nights sleep - No one at hotel to book in, and had to wait 20mins to turn up, however, room was fine, had a very good nights sleep. Bathroom was very clean although no hand soap?
I would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was great, the maneger is very nice
Excellent location
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The owner wad very pleasant and welcoming.
- Kwok (10/5): - Great location, room very tidy and staffs are polite
- Aharon Ronen (8/5): Thank you! - It's my second time in this lovely hotel. The staff is superb' yet, I do believe that they need to be more generous with soap and shampoo at rooms. In cold weather it will be nice to get some porridge or oatmeal served with brown sugar and raisins.
In general, nice and welcoming place. I will return back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The chap on reception, I think his name was Connor, was extremely polite and friendly.
- Cheryl (8/5): A good night in London, in a pleasant hotel - I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the comfort of the bed. The choices in the continental breakfast with excellent. The handle to the door became unattached and the plugs to the Bath and basin were not attached to the chains. The car parking was great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Central hotel review - The hotel is in good condition (although it's a bit old) , staff was friendly and the breakfast was more than enough.
- Melanie (6/5): Good breakfast but too hot and noisy to sleep - This property's strengths were a competent staff, convenient location, made to order eggs for breakfast (along with veggies, lox, and cereal/bread choices for carb lovers), and the best price of lodgings in the area for our dates. On the minus side, our room was unbearably hot, with no fan available, and only a duvet (clearly a inappropriate bed cover during a heat wave) was provided - no top sheet or lightweight summer blanket. Further, the property has busy traffic on both sides, so with windows open to try to catch a breeze we couldn't sleep well due to noise. The property is old, so fixtures are worn (but functional). The refrigerator was appreciated, but some milk or creamer for tea in the room was missed. We would probably choose to spend more and stay elsewhere next time, but if the weather is cooler and noise isn't an issue, this could be a budget minded choice.
- Jacques (8/5): - Very well locate with Parking
- MG (8/5): Value for money - The hotel is unpretentious, but surprisingly clean, and warm in winter.
Breakfast was more than adequate with a variety of cereals, cheeses, yogurt, and fresh fruit.
Fantastic location, close to subway, busses and airport shuttle.
- David (6/5): Well located hotel - Very clean room and hotel , basic but okay for the odd night.
Good selection of choice at breakfast and pleasant staff .
Well located, 5 minutes drive from M1 and 10 minutes walk
into Golders Green
Only negative in traffic noise which could be a problem for a light sleeper (like me)
- Verified traveler (8/5): none - As expected I have stayed before and would stay again.
The hotel had been updated since my previous visit which was a pleasant surprise.
- NICOLA (6/5): Could be better. - The hotel was incredibly basic and very dated. Our room was tiny and the decor very plain. The bathroom had mould around the bath and there was hair and dirt still in the carpet. The room served a purpose and the location was good. We left without trying breakfast. I would look for better options when visiting London in the future.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and friendly enough, good selection at breakfast. Nothing fancy and not the greatest area, but overall good value.
- Michael (8/5): Nice place. - Nice friendly staff. I was asked if I would like a free upgrade on arrival. I was given a nice brightly decorated room in the annex with a desk. Quiet nice area and limited on site parking but on street parking is available overnight free of charge.
- J M (6/5): You pay for what you get - It's a fair hotel for what they charge. Access by tube and bus into the city is convenient, if lengthy. Rooms were clean, warm and tidy if basic. WIFI was good.
- Jacques (6/5): Budget saving - Budget saving
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient and simple. - This place is located in a suburban neighborhood where numerous international and specialty markets are commingled on the main streets. The subway and bus platform are just a couple of blocks away and there are a tons of reasonably priced restaurants, cafes and grocery shops along the way to make life pretty effortless compared to the stressful crowds of downtown. My room was in a second building away from the front desk. The staffing seems to be pretty limited as I gave my key to a housekeeping lady when I checked out. I slept rather comfortably and came to prefer the more relaxed atmosphere of Golder's Green over the annoying craziness of central London.
- John (6/5): Reasonably priced hotel in Golders Green. - Small but adequate bedroom and bathroom. Breakfast OK.
- LUIS (10/5): - Was good and Staffa are fredly
- boro supporter (6/5): - comfortable clean close to bus tube stations for easy access to all of london
- Anthony (6/5): cheap and cheerful - Nice, clean..cheap... breakfast ok...
- Jason (4/5): Unsafe & Unsatisfied - Didn't expect much from the previous reviews but after the first night had no choice but to submit a list of issues. One of the windows could not shut fully and we were on the ground floor so was a security issue, the towel rail was on full heat and I had my three year old with me so she could of easily scolded herself and I could not turn it down. The toilet seat was coming off it was so loose. There were no plugs near the kettle that could be used safely. I booked a triple room for one double and one single beds. They only had three single beds and said it was not their problem but Expedias. One of the drawers was falling apart and finally the breakfast was atrocious. Again I did not expect much for a kosher hotel over a weekend but on Sunday their idea of a full cooked breakfast was egg and toast!. We walked out the first morning and the second we did not even bother and went to a nearby cafe.
When we checked out there was no concern or care given to my complaints and the owner couldn't be bothered to even look at me to say goodbye just took my keys and that was that. If you are looking at this area you will do well to go to the King Solomon. Better service, better food and nearly half the price.
- john (10/5): great place - Aaa111 great place, ideal for london area.
- Nkechi (6/5): Location - Being that I needed a location close to SSE Arena, it was quite a distance and did not reflect as stated. Otherwise it was relatively nice.
Clean rooms. Relatively pleasant staff.
- Navin (6/5): Ok hotel - Friendly staff. But not 24/7 available. Location of the hotel was good, 5 min walk from the underground station. Buses available. A lot of shops in the neighborhood. Breakfast was limited to fried eggs, serial and fruits. On Jewish holidays no cooking.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel was close to underground, good for us. - Was very clean and friendly, breakfast was disappointing.
- Sandy (6/5): Good location to Tube Station - The Hotel is being renovated. But since there are 2 buildings I had a very nice renovated room in the second building. Bathroom compact, everything very clean. One problem: some of the other guests were very noisy. A coming and going till 3 am with doors slamming and loud conversations in the hallways both nights.
- Edu (6/5): Not the best, but value for money. - I must confess I was expecting the worst after reading other reviews. But it wasn't as bad. After the initial difficulties getting our keys, everything was fine from then onwards. Its a very old hotel so some wear and tear must be expected. The rooms were clean, the atmosphere friendly and surrounding areas quiet. Breakfast was good and the chef was actually amazing, top marks for him. All in all, it was good value for the money we paid.
- Constanz (4/5): Nice Staff and good location - Room condition not so pleasing my body reacted badly. I obviously wanted to leave at some stage but for my safety I decided to stay to avoid driving while tired. I felt more disappointed when I read a note "bear with us we are refurbishing ...." I think they can do this one at a time since they have two wings. I honestly do not believe there was any facelift activity where I lodged. I did not expect a much higher standard for the money paid but a little better and cleaner interior.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great value but un-English neighborhood - Very good value, was upset at check in to see a sign instead of a person at reception, but they showed up in a few minutes. Neighborhood is largely immigrant so little olde-English atmosphere nearby.
- Verified traveler (4/5): very convenient for visiting family and shopping - the hotel is very tired. Beds were comfortable, sheets clean. No central heating in room. The room smelled from previous smokers. No-one to serve breakfast in the morning, so left hungry. Very basic indeed, but close to Brent Cross and easy to travel into central London.
- Neny (4/5): Is it really a Hotel? - Not sure Central Hotel is really a hotel, otherwise how do you explain having to knock on the door for a while at about 11am in the morning before someone came out to attend to you. It seemed more like a residential home where the owner rented out some rooms. Friendly staff, good sized rooms with good heating in the cold. I however had some eerie feeling about the place as it wasn't what I expected in a hotel (seeing people and having the feeling of not being alone). I didn't feel secure.
- wong (2/5): squalid hostel - Poor state of repair and maintainence of room and bathroom, dirty carpet and curtains, weak wifi, no changing beddings during my ten days stay, shower out of order.
- James (6/5): mixed experience but def value - Good points: best value around, quiet street, OK breakfast. Bad points: never answer the phone to find out about checking in, rather run down, phones ring in the middle of the night and before check out. Not sure whether they welcome guests or not, and didn't feel valued. Having said that I can't afford London prices so beggars can't be choosers :-(
- Verified traveler (2/5): 15 minute walk to Underground was the best thing - There was never anyone at the desk to ask questions or request help. There was no one to register us when we got there. Luckily another guest was able to get ahold of someone who told him the key to our room was under the potted plant outside. The last night we came back to our room but had no towels or made beds. The mold in the bathroom was gross! The broken window was no fun either as it rained almost every day. I would not recommend this hotel at all.
- paul (2/5): not recomended - The worst hotel I have ever stayed at...very very dirty
- Verified traveler (2/5): - it was not good at all. one night i forgot my key no one was there to help
- L (4/5): Poor - Disorganised, very basic run down rooms and hotel. Peeling wall paper, stained carpets, grotty shower curtain and peeling lino in t, not enough tables at breakfast, so had to wait.
- karl (6/5): central hotel-an experience! - if you are a group of lads like we were this is fine if you just want a bed for the night.its cheap, fairly conveniently located and the bed sheets were clean. if you are at all prude or have standards, steer clear
