• lonelyexplorer86 (10/5): A very relaxing and unforgettable experience in El Chalten - I was very happy and satisfied to discover this splendid hotel nestled in the relaxing nature of the El Chalten countryside. My room was truly very comfortable, spacious, and clean, equipped with everything you need and a bathroom with a large bathtub. Directly from the hotel, you can follow the trail that leads to the Mirador de Las Aquilas e de Los Condores. The town center is about 4 km away and can be reached on foot or by booking a transfer. The breakfasts are excellent and rich in choice, with genuine ingredients and fruits directly from the property's countryside. The hotel restaurant, right next to the entrance, is truly welcoming and characteristic, offering a varied menu with many delicacies. On the first evening, I ordered an empanada de Cordero and a ribeye steak with roasted potatoes, accompanied by a glass of Malbec red wine. On the second evening, I opted for a smocked guanaco followed by a dish of trout with oranje sauce. Everything was truly excellent and delicious! I also booked a truly generous lunch box full of delicacies for my Fitz Roy excursion. At reception, you can purchase a lovely variety of local products, such as perfumes and teas. Finally, I wanted to thank the very kind owner, Alfredo, who welcomed me warmly upon my arrival and made me feel at home, providing me with directions for excursions and helping me with transportation (thanks also so much for the car ride back from my excursion on the first day). I also thank the reception and restaurant staff, who were always very kind and provided me with information and suggestions. I absolutely recommend an experience here if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere away from the noise of the city. I would definitely like to return to El Chalten one day, perhaps with more days to spare, and of course, to stay here again at Hosteria Estancia La Quinta!
• Resort01148028828 (6/5): Disappointed - The location and the hotel are beautiful a few miles out of El Chalten and it's restraunts and cafes. We were warmly welcomed and given information about the area and things to do. The staff were very pleasant. We had a gf room with a view of the garden and mountains. We used the laundry service. As others have said the bedroom and bathroom were outdated and the bedroom wasn't as clean as I would expect. The curtains/blinds were tatty. The furniture was shabby. Blankets and sheets on the beds and only one pillow, nowhere to sit. The cleaner started vacuuming outside our room before 8am (Sunday) and woke us up. The breakfast was very poor, we had let the hotel know through the booking agent about our dietary needs and there was very little choice. I had bread and jam and black tea. My husband had rice crackers with his half hard boiled egg and slice of cheese, the fruit was from tins. We got back to our room to find that the cleaner had let herself in even though we hadn't gone out for the day. She had reorganised our belongings and moved furniture, thrown away perfectly good soap. We got back 9 hours later to find she hadn't vacuumed the carpet or got rid of spiders and webs. The carpet was marked in places and there were dirty marks on the walls. There is a ban on taking tea and coffee to rooms, and nowhere to buy or make a hot drink. No bar or room service. Definitely overpriced.

• Eran (10/5): Wonderful stay in a real Patagonia estancia setting - We loved everything about the estancia. You really feel the spirit of Patagonia here. It’s close enough to town yet quinas secluded. Breakfast was absolutely sufficient, and the dinner we had one night was delicious. Alfredo and the rest of the staff were kind, helpful, and generous. We booked the historical tour on site with Patricia, and it was really amazing to hear the history of the place, which has been her family farm for over 120 years. We would definitely stay here again If we would be so lucky to return to El Chalten, but if you are spoiled and get annoyed by small things that come with staying on a farm like having to wait a few minutes for hot water, find another place that would be more corporate and leave this place for those who can appreciate it for what it is.
• June (7/5): Excellent Host / Restaurant, However not an ideal spot for hikers. - Very friendly owner/host who gives excellent recommendations on hiking/etc.... The restaurant owned and located on site was also excellent. The staff are amazing. There are also cows roaming around the working ranch, very neat environment. Having to download an app as a room key. The room I stayed in also did not have a desk. You're not able to pack or unpack and as a result, unless you do so on the bed. I lost an important piece of hiking gear as a result. There should at least be a table so that hikers can spread out their clothes/equipment. The power went out for one of the mornings and I was not able to charge my power bank or phone and started off my day hike not being able to reference all trails as much as I would've liked to. The location is about an hour fast walk to the trailhead for Fitz Roy (part of it on a rocky road).. Not exactly ideal and the taxi to and from town costs 20K Argentinian pesos.

When we forgot something in the room, the owner did everything he could to return it to us. We loved being in nature and just having cows roaming outside our bedroom windows. We will choose this place again if we come back here.
• Maria-Cristina (7/5): Ich bin alleine gereist, 5 Tage geblieben und die üblichen Wanderungen gemacht. - Die Ruhe und der weite Blick in die Steppe. Alfredo, der Besitzer, ist sehr, sehr hilfsbereit und berät einen sehr gut. Ist immer für ein kleines, nettes Schwätzchen zwischendurch zu haben. Als nicht klar war ob ich mein Gepäck tagsüber am Busbahnhof deponieren kann, hat er mich mit Gepäck hingefahren und angeboten, ggf. das Gepäck wieder mit zurückzunehmen und mir später erneut zur Busstation zu bringen, damit ich meinen Tag uneingeschränkt nutzen kann. Der Aufenthaltsraum mit bodentiefen Fenstern mit tollem Ausblick zur Steppe und Sonnenuntergang. Ohne Mietwagen, ist man auf Taxis angewiesen. Eine Fahrt kostet aktuell 15 Euro. Wenn man an der Straße entlang läuft braucht man gut 45-50 Minuten bis zum Ortseingang El Chalten. Wenn man die schöne Strecke durch die Natur wählt braucht man ca. 70 Minuten. Die Wanderungen (Laguna los tres, Laguna Torre, Chorrillo del Salto, Laguna Capri) beginnen alle in El Chalten. Man muss also zusätzlich noch 140 Minuten wandern oder ein Taxi nehmen. Wenn man abends noch mal in den Orte möchte erneut Taxi oder 50-70 hin- und zurück laufen. Ich würde mir einen Wasserkocher oder Tee, Kaffee entweder in den Zimmern oder im Aufenthaltsraum wünschen.

• Simone (8/5): - Da wir mit einem Mietwagen unterwegs waren hat uns die ländliche und ruhige Lage etwas ausserhalb von El Chalten sehr gut gefallen. Auf dem Grundstück laufen z. Zt. sieben süße Kühe frei herum, was wir sehr lustig fanden als Großstädter. Die Gastgeber sind alle 3 sehr, sehr nett und vor allem äußerst hilfsbereit bei allen Fragen. Sie sprechen auch sehr gutes Englisch wodurch eine Unterhaltung jederzeit möglich war. Es fühlte sich alles sehr persönlich an. Was uns etwas irritiert hat war die hier bei Booking angegebene Zimmergröße von 30qm. Es waren allerhöchstens 20, das hat uns anfangs schon sehr geschockt als wir das Zimmer betraten. Wir haben uns dran gewöhnt aber diese Zahl müsste dringend korrigiert werden. Auf der eigenen Homepage habe ich keine Angaben zur Zimmergröße gefunden.

• guadalupe (7/5): Para quienes quieren alejarse del pueblo, renunciando a comodidad, no es un 4 estrellas. - La ubicación y los alrededores , estar en El Chaltén sin estar en el pueblo. El personal es muy amable. A las habitaciones les falta mantenimiento, las alfombras son poco higiénicas. La estancia es antigua pero le falta inversión para mantener encanto. Los baños son pequeños e incómodos, tarda el agua caliente y sale de color amarillento.

• Francis (10/5): A great place to enjoy an unclutterred life... - When you are at Patagonia, especially the Argentine side, it is a pretty desolate place. Hundreds of kms without any meaningful live presence. Finding a place where you feel at home instantaneously it is a great gift. That's what you get at La Quinta. Sr. Alfredo is a great host and takes care of all of your problems if you were to have any. The room was spacious and well equipped, even with a fridge that's quite rare in Argentina. The breakfast was great also. Nothing. If I scrape the surface the dirt road to the Estancia was one of the worst I'd driven...but only 1.5 km.

The location was great, the owners and staff were fabulous and we loved the restaurant too. Very clean, modern rooms on a 120 year old estate. And you can hike right out the door! It definitely NEEDS internet in the rooms. That was the only negative thing.
• Patricia (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful situated. We were warmly welcome by Alfredo whose historic and geographic knowledge of the region is captivating. The estancia is a beautiful family run business dating back to 1905 and the family fascinating history is celebrated everywhere around the property. Situated slightly outside of town the estancia is peaceful in a stunning location providing a welcome rest after the many hikes. The rooms are very comfortable and the access to the exceptionally large sun room with a view was a very pleasant way to end the day after a delicious meal in the restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful, they even took the time to teach us about the traditional yerba-mate. Thank you so much for a truly exceptional stay.
• Sue (9/5): A beautiful stay! - We had a wonderful stay here. The location is lovely - close to town but far enough away to enjoy nature and spectacular views. The estacion itself was peaceful and relaxing. It was lovely to have horses and cows eating right outside our window! The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the food was excellent. We enjoyed spending time with the charismatic owner Alfredo. His receptionist Abril was warm and helpful and the whole team was engaging.
• SachinH3 (8/5): Stay at Estancia la Quinta - Overall a good stay. The Manager, Alfredo is helpful and has his sense of humour of going about things in terms of helping the guests, which is great to lighten up matters, but can be a hit or miss. What was Very Nice - good property, clean and supported by a courteous staff. Restaurant was great with some delicious food. Breakfast was good as well. Common room area especially the second floor offers a comfortable setting to relax and a great view as well. Manager was accessible to help us out with transportation arrangements when we were in town and needed to get back to the hotel. Manager did offer some tips and connects for things to do and see in El Chalten and El Calafate. Availability of parking for those with rental cars (most guest had a rental car, and we probably would get one for any future travel to El Chalten as the property is 3 km away from town) What needs a bit more attention - heating/cooling in the room being functional can help. The advertisement in the Trip Advisor says Wifi available, but the reality is that it is only in the common area. That clarification should be provided on the site. Availability of tea/coffee in rooms, or in a common area will help, as there are guests who do need it. Net-net, a good stay.

Manager and owner (Alfredo) offered helpful advice on our logistical arrangements and hiking trail information. The wifi service was slow that did cause some hindrance. • zitavskeho (8/5): À most fantastic hospitality - We stayed 3 nights in the Estancia. Alfredo at the réception was the the nicest host we came across during our 2 week tour in Argentina. The rooms are large and in a quiet environment some 1.5 kms from the main road. The breakfast was however probably the lightest we had during our tour. They offer lunch packets at US$ 18 pp, but it is recommended to buy bread at the panaderia and make your own sandwiches.
• Marie-Pierre (10/5): Best stay in El Chaltén - We spent 9 nights at this property, truly our home away from home. This historical estancia has been operated by the same family for 120 years. The owners are welcoming and will make sure to share tips about hikes and other things to do. A couple of hikes can be done right from the estancia. While it is more convenient to have a vehicle, it is possible to walk to town and enjoy great vistas at the same time. Alfredo speaks good English and so does Abril, their charming front desk clerk and restaurant hostess. The restaurant has a limited menu, but the food is excellent. The cold breakfast has a wide variety, including home made cookies and calafate berries on occasions. Rooms do not have wifi, but there is connection in the common areas with comfortable chairs and couches. Daily house keeping is done. There is also an entertaining greeting committee made up of a couple of horses, cows and calves who constantly roam the property to keep that lawn short. This place is like a green oasis in comparison to windy-dusty El Chaltén. We drank tap water the whole time and no issue.

Their knowledge & experience in the region is exceptional- the Estancia has been run by Patrizia’s family since 1905 and the hotel is a living museum of life in El Chaltern over the last century . Being 2kms out of town, it is utterly peaceful- the most beautiful setting . Alfredo helped plan all our hikes, depending on the weather conditions and directed us to some amazing viewpoints . A truly memorable stay

• keentraveller46 (4/5): Disappointing - Disappointed with the hotel. The decor is very tired, there were holes in the carpet in our room and the ceiling had been patched with plastic. The choice of breakfast was very limited and the food in the restaurant mediocre. The location was lovely and the owner was helpful.
• Evaldas (8/5): Very good - Alfredo was very helpful with directions Area is nice around but 45 minutes walk to town 45 minutes to walk to town ( if walking on the highway, trough the mountains is well over an hour) no kettle in the room, coffee maker , no TV in the room Thankfully Alfredo provided hot water when asked) For internet access guests need to go to the lobby to “wi-do access point “ During my stay electricity was being shot down between midnight and 6 am in the entire property. Not sure if they do it all the time

We cannot say enough about their help finding the best hikes, packing lunches, and providing the most relaxing spot a little outside of town (but not too far like some estancias we looked at!). It is a truly family run business and we 100% will be back!!
• BackPacker611080 (10/5): Estancia La Quinta - I have known Estancia La Quinta since 1983, when there was no Chalten settlement. Staying in the current hotel is a wonderful experience enjoying peace, beautiful views, excellent food and extremely friendly staff led by Patricia and Alfredo. • 943katarinak (10/5): The place to stay in El Chalten, clean rooms, beautiful nature, great food, kind owners - Estancia La Quinta in El Chalten area is a beautiful and peaceful place, with very nice rooms, everything is very clean. Food is delicious and owners are very kind. Beautiful nature all around hotel. The place is 2 km away from the hustling and bustling city of Chalten, with a beautiful garden and a breathtaking view od the landscape from the living room in the first floor. If you need transport to/from Chalten, owners accommodate it. We stayed there 5 days, enjoyed the breakfast with home made yogurt, calafate jam etc., relaxed atmosphere after we returned from treks, and tasteful dinners. I would highly recommend.

He was so helpful with all the tips and suggestions to make our stay and treks in El chalten exceptional. The packed lunch and dinner in the restaurant was amazing, The best I have had in el chalten. The estancia is such a charming place to stay, family run business. The rooms were clean, great size. The views from the estancia of the surrounding vast field is magical. I would definitely recommend to stay here.

• Vadim (8/5): Excellent - Overall I liked my staying at this place. The owners and the staff were very nice and friendly. The owner gave me a ride to the town and back several times. The surrounding is pastoral. The beakfasts were good. I liked the selection of jams. The dinners were very good too and the price of the dinners was fair relatively to the overpriced restaurants you find in El Chaltén. The only negative point is the lack of wifi inside the rooms. Eventually I got used to that. I read a book when I stayed at the room instead of endless surfing the internet. The 2nd downside is the remoteness of the place. If you don't have a car like me, you'll need to pay 6,000 pesos for the taxi or I ask the owner if he can give you a ride. I walked few times to the town and back. It's quite a hike, not for everyone.
• Hayes (9/5): Superb - This place has all the charm of a family run business. Alfredo and his team are fantastic and go above and beyond to ensure you are looked after. The location is just stunning and so peaceful. It's a little bit out of town but I really enjoyed the walk in and out to really take in the landscape, and for the days when you are tired from hiking there are taxis available. Loved it here, even stayed one night longer. Would recommend.

• Susan (6/5): - This is in a lovely setting by the mountains but please be aware that it is REMOTE! It is 2 miles from town on an unlit rocky road. There is not a free shuttle as indicated and it can be very difficult to find a taxi. I would recommend staying here only if you have your own vehicle. Otherwise it is comfortable and peaceful.

Very close to el chalten and even some hiking trail . It feels like home . We already plan to our next trip in El chalten and will stay in this very beautiful place . It’s paradise!!!

The property is convenient to El Chalten and all the trails, and is much better than staying in the town itself. Breakfast abundant and delicious. Dinners served in the on-site restaurant are also excellent. I couldn't more highly recommend a stay at Estrancia!
• 235micheleq (8/5): Quiet accommodations - The owner, Alfredo, is the sweetest! He will go out of his way to make your stay better. On our first night here, he noted the spectacular view we'd get of the stars and milky way outside of the inn and even accompanied us to point out the various constellations in the sky. The rooms are pretty basic and since the inn is located in a remote area - it will take a while to walk into the village - ideal to have a car. But the remoteness will offer serenity and quietness, perfect for winding down after a long day's hike. Do note that the power is turned off from midnight until about 5am/6am every night so make sure you get your charges in earlier in the evening.

Site says free shuttle to town, but it’s the owner who will take you, though there isn’t any structured service.. so you may have to take a Taxi—order it in advance as it may take up to 30 min to arrive since you are in a small town. Breakfast is all right. Some cheese, packaged ham slices, and salami... there was a nice homemade yogurt... rooms are very clean and beautiful. A fun experience feeding the calves milk. They have a lot of good information in the lobby about the weather for the day for when you go hiking. WiFi only in common areas, not rooms. Also the power will go out from midnight or so till 0530 AM
• WandaF541 (10/5): Perfect Place - We stayed here for 6 nights. The location is a short, lovely walk into town and nearby hikes. The owners are super friendly and attentive hosts. Our room was at the end of a hallway with 2 large windows. It offered a lovely view, was very clean, and quite large, including a sitting area. There is a charming restaurant with good meals, and great public spaces to sit and read or chat. It was great value for what we paid.

Alfredo was so helpful and the late dinner in the hotel restaurant was everything we needed!! This family-run estate has a beautiful history which you can explore in the restaurant. Good r-breakfast with fresh and local products. Possibility to buy some home made rose products. Rooms are small but clean. The estate is not in the city centre but there is a daily free shuttle in the morning and evening and Alfredo offers taxi service during the day. The view an the outdoors feeling is priceless.

The estancia is absolutely gorgeous and it is surreal being surrounded by all of the animals. Alfredo is hilarious, warm and fun and made us feel like we were a part of the family. This is a MUST STAY!

• JJAdams85 (10/5): At the foot of Fitz Roy - My only regret about our time at Estancia La Quinta is that we did not stay here longer. This ranch is the perfect place to unplug from all distractions and plug yourself into beautiful nature. Fredo manages the Estancia which has been owned by his wife's family for several generations. He is the consummate professional, provides great recommendations and has an excellent sense of humor. Estancia La Quinta is located roughly 1 mile from the foot of Monte Fitz Roy. The town of El Chalten itself is located right at the foot of Fitz Roy. On a clear day, you can see the mountain in all of its beauty from the ranch. If you arrive early enough, you can feed the two orphaned baby cows or partake in a homemade dinner. The accommodations are very simple, yet clean. The bathroom contains a shower, toilet and a bidet. The ranch is solar powered, so there is no electricity after midnight. There are emergency lights in your room, so don't worry. You're not going to get a strong wireless signal from your room, and I do not remember our room having a TV. But you're not there for that anyway...you're there for mountains! Staying at Estancia La Quinta during your time in El Chalten is the experience of a lifetime; I can't recommend it enough.

As it's about 3km out of town it is easier if you have a car. But Alfredo, the host, was continually driving people in and out of the village. The friendly, helpful attitude towards customers was just amazing and they were extremely helpful with 'tourist information'. We loved the tranquility of this place and the upstairs area was a great spot to have a quiet drink or watch the sunset. We appreciated bring able to eat at their restaurant and enjoyed our meals - their home grown strawberries were the BEST we have ever tasted! If you are looking for a quiet, calm place to stay then this is it. We appreciated the tranquil feel of the ranch, with its large grounds and animals, compared to what seemed like the busy life in El Chalten. Just a wonderful place for us to stay.

Then I showed them the reservation that said that we also had booked for a child in each room. Then they said that the maximum age of each cold should be two years old. I disagreed firmly, and showed them the ages of the children in the reservation and also said that I had prepaid the stay. Only then they gave up charging more. Food was not good. Breakfast was served in dirty tables. They did not even took away the dirty plates of prior guests.

The estancia is a bit out of the village, but it offered you the opportunity to take some different hikes—which Alfredo can give you directions to at the front desk. The breakfast is delicious and varied. The water is hot, nice after a day of hiking around! The WiFi signal could be weak in the rooms at time, but you can go to the lobby for better signal.
