JB (6/5): - This is a cool hotel, but be aware. They are going through major renovation. The Canal view room that I paid for believing it would be the grand Canal from the pictures was a small window about the size of a shoebox, looking out the back of the hotel at a small canal. The original room was so small we couldn’t fit our Carry-on luggage in it with us. We asked him to change us to another room and they did so happily it was a huge room with a view of what they call the garden. The room was great except every morning at 8:30. They started construction in the room above us. If you go out in Venice and want to enjoy the city and eat late as most Venetians, do this is not the hotel you want to stay in while they go through this renovation. On the upside, the staff was fantastic and the place is so clean and brand new for the rooms that are finished. They are spectacular. Amazing marble bathrooms, nice beds and amenities in the room.

Zuzana (8/5): Very good - Hotel is located in beautiful place next to canal. Stuff was super friendly. Breakfast was very good. Pillows. We did not have any sleep. It was New Years eve, we came back to our room shortly after midnight and hoping we will get some good night sleep (after 2 years alone for night) and the opposite was truth. Bed is huge- good. But pillows were like a rock. 4 pillows on bed and each of them was same. Normally at other places/hotels provide you 1 harder and 1 softer but not here. I tried to get connected via phone to reception and it was not working (I could not find easily number for reception and R letter did not work) so I gave up....So please, hotel, buy a normal pillows also. Have 1 harder and 1 softer for other people. Its totally ruined our experience and money we paid to get a good nigh sleep. We would probably get better sleep at some hostel for 10% of price...My husband normally likes harder pillows, but this was too much.
Adam (7/5): Good - The size of the room and the hotel itself was great. Location is good, considering if you take a water taxi from the airport. Breakfast was a slight disaster. You have everything on display, but you need to wait until they serve you. It is either a buffet or a la carte. Quite a long walk to the main attractions.
Nick (10/5): - I took my wife to celebrate her 50th birthday with our family and Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli did not dissapoint. From our first arrival the staff we absolutely wonderful. The rooms, fantastic, clean and well appointed. The location of the hotel is perfect for an arrival from the airport via water taxi or Vaporetto and is within easy walking distance from all the main areas, however, it is in a really nice and quiet location, meaning you do not feel in the middle of the tourist maddness! A great base for a stay in Venice - highly recommended. We will definately be back!

The bathroom are had no real room for toiletries. The room was pretty but very small . We did not see other rooms so we have no idea if this was the norm . I have a new knee - so the bathroom was not ideal .

I hope this palazzo improves its ser - Nice spacious rooms, clean and tidy, good location, easy transportation to from both airports. Beautiful lobby. 1. Strange breakfast rules when at buffet you beed to order everything from a sole waiter and wait a while to get your meal. Instead of coffee lungo received general not strong pot coffee which is strange for Italy and a hotel of this level (expected level). 2. For taking wine screw on the second day a bartender asked for 15 euro while the day before it was just given for free usage. 3. Similar 3 rooms were booked, while one was nice, spacious and with normal bath-tube, the other two significantly smaller (just nobody told us on the differences). 4. Shower gel was nit provided into one of three rooms, neither shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/body lotion were refreshed on the second day. 5. On check out additional fee was charged for breakfast for a cold beverage which no notice has been made to us at breakfast.
Daniel (8/5): Authentical Venice. - Palazzo Giovanelli is incredibly well located in S. Polo, the heart of Venice on the Grand Canal. Facilities very good, we were upgraded to a new room, with a great marble bathroom. Giovanelli breathes the old flair of the lagoon city, which is missing in many touristy parts of the city. Cafés and bars at good prices and used by the locals round off the intimate flair. Rialto is within easy walking distance, if you absolutely need the crowded St. Mark's Square in August, you are also there (vaporetto in front of the door). Many real sights on the doorstep (like Antonio Canova's tomb). top Additional info, for the Austrian and musicologist: W. A. Mozart and his father lived for 4 months as guests in the Palazzo Giovanelli. Cool. We will be back.

Next, we'll try somewhere new. - The breakfast food was mediocre, the room is nice, but very small and you can't serve yourself so its a bit awkward. The people who serve breakfast are very friendly. The location is right next door to a museum so we enjoyed that. The air conditioning was great. It's definitely a historic building, it's not "luxury." We paid for a canal view room, which was very nice, but the furniture of the room was worn and needed updating. We expected a bit more for what we paid for the room.

Top-notch service, clean, good location, authentic property, convenience of a dock right on the Grand Canal, and a good breakfast to start each day. We received an upgraded room for our anniversary along with a bottle of chilled prosecco awaiting us - such a nice gesture which we really appreciated! The jr suite gave us much more room and a balcony. Heads up - There are complimentary tours to Murano which we didn’t know about - save money $/or headache figuring out zaporettos. Truly wonderful property but the service was the best!

Staff were superbly helpful without being too much in your space. An outdoor area overlooking the grande canal would have been excellent but I know it’s not infeasible. So it wasn’t a dislike more of a wish. We would have wanted to spend more time at the property.

An easy 10-15 mins walk to Rialto Bridge and a further 10mins to Marco Square.....good walk for people who prefer to get their steps in! Good access to the boat station 'S.Stae'. The hotel wasn't easy to locate as it was hidden deep in an alley way. Needs more lighting in that area and clear signs to the hotel. Scafolding on buidling was disappointing and visibly ugly. The breakfast was a buffet, but we were served by the dining staff- I didn't quite understand the logic of this, nor was it explained upon arrival. There were no other restrooms in the reception area apart from the the one restroom at the entry of the reception hall.

Gerard (2/5): No such thing as a guarantee! - All I can say, is that when you book as a couple, you run the great potential of being moved to a "sister" hotel, due to unexpected (and unbelievable) "unfortunate water damage" to your previously guaranteed booked room. It was obvious to us that we were being relocated in order to accommodate a larger group, who were to occupy several rooms. The little guy finishes last. We were denied a chance to visually see the alleged water-damaged room, and had no recourse, but to accept the alternative offered. Who needs to drag luggage around Venice on a Friday afternoon, seeking another hotel? We specifically selected this hotel due to its proximity to the Alla Laguna San Stae station, hoping not to have to transport luggage for any unnecessarily long distances, since we are both senior citizens. We were moved to a hotel two water bus stops away, to a less desirable area of Venice, close to the bus station. And during the transfer, the hotel representatives, Davide and his colleague had us enter through the exit portal to enter the boat without paying for the transfer. Although the room in the sister hotel was rather grand, we needed to get up earlier in order to be moved back to the San Stae station on the morning of our departure, causing us to be deprived of a relaxing breakfast. Booking this hotel is a gamble.
