Guest Reviews
- L5462AIandreasl (2/5): Get somewhere else!!! - The Pension Kern is really abdoned in the days. The room, the bed and the shower is ugly as can be. The beds are really self-made and sleeping is hell!
There is no breakfast and no employment. The pillows are so smelly, that I put it to the reception (where nobody is seen...)
Save your money and get a better hotel!!!
- Ole (10/5): - Ubeklageligt
- Artem (6/5): - Pluses
- Clean
- Friendly staff
- 13 euro per night is a good price
Minuses
- Paper walls. You can hear everything about your neighbors.
- Loud neighbors in the next building.
- Overpriced breakfast.
- Very small room.
- Relatively far. The bus runs once in 20-30 minutes, or you can walk 9 minutes to the next tram station. Then 3 stops on tram to metro.
- There is a phone in the room, but it doesn't work.
For me the major problem were neighbors in the next building. One evening a woman was making fire in the garden and I got smoke in my room. Another evening they had a party (on Monday), they smoked and laughed loudly on the balcony till the midnight. And there were no hotel staff to solve the problem.
The breakfast is ok, but I would not pay 200 ck for it. You can find better options for less money in the city. It is not possible to pay and get it the same day, you should pay only one day before. I really don't understand why as they have open buffet.
- Pulkit (10/5): - The hotel staff were nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
- doaahussein2018 (10/5): Good service - Nice place to stay and not expensive at all, so a few steps to bus station, breakfast is good but need more items, wifi in the room and reception available, recommended it rooms and bathrooms very clean
- Roland (4/5): Backpacker und Einzeltouris evtl. geeignet. - Kein funktionierender Internetzugang
Raucher nebenan...ich war also passivraucher...
- musicmac99 (10/5): Pension Kern - We booked the place online, and from past experience, things are not always as they appear. We arrived before check-in and they were kind enough to store our luggage while we were gone sightseeing. The room was very nice and clean, a little on the small side but very functional. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was nice. The only negative is that transportation to the tourist areas is cumbersome and not readily available. We would definitely consider staying there again.
- Rebecca (8/5): Quiet, friendly, affordable hotel - This is a very nice, quiet, friendly hotel just on the outskirts of Prague. The room and bed were very comfortable and the breakfast (for a small charge) was a basic, simple buffet. I appreciated the secure parking...and even free street parking if the spaces in the back are taken. There is a city bus stop directly outside the hotel. The wifi is included and there was a safe in the room. The hotel is in a mostly residential area so there are not any shops or restaurants nearby.
- Carina (10/5): Ville helt klart besøge igen. - Fantastisk fint lille hotel. Rent og god service. Kan kun anbefales.
- bakaliaros82 (8/5): Nice cozy place - The room was very nice clean , very warm (with minus temperatures outside) and there were free toiletries available to use.The wifi signal is very good. The breakfast was ok not a big variety but it was included in the price and it was decent.
The area is very sparsely populated many abandoned houses and many villas. If someone doesn't have a car they must take the bus from the bus stop which is right outside the hotel but in the weekend the intervals of the bus are every 30 min as we saw. We had a car and we parked outside at the street because the parking was always full (just space for 4 cars and very near to each other). Actually outside on the street there were always many parking places. To get to center we parked near Radlicka metro station and from there we took the metro.
One minor disturbance (that's why I put 4 points and not 5): We arrived on Friday evening at around 21:00 and no one was at the reception. They had sent me an sms how to get the key and I found the key with no difficulty. Saturday afternoon at 17:00 again no one at reception. I wanted to get a toilet paper on Saturday evening and couldn't ask anybody. To their credit when I sent an sms they answered immediately but I believe Saturday afternoon at 17:00 is not so late so as to find nobody there. Anyway.
To sum up we had a nice stay for a very good price and I recommend this hotel to everyone.
- mochichi101 (8/5): Not a preferred neighbourhood - There are quite a few abandoned houses around the neighbourhood, which is a bit creepy. Definitely not a preferred location for solo/female traveller. It takes 10 mins walk to reach the nearest tram station. Although there is a connecting bus stopping right in front of the accommodation, you wouldn't want to wait at any of those bus stops. Better take uber /taxi back home if it's later than 20:00. Luckily it is not too far away from the city centre so the taxi fare is very cheap and reasonable.
Anyway I like that they serve hot food for the breakfast. Everything is clean and it is very comfy staying there.
- elmao071 (6/5): Quiet place - Nice quite place. Clean, which is very important. The staff is really polite. You have to take a tram to get to the center of Praha, about 5 to 10 minutes journey. Don't go by car, there is literally no parking place. Pension Kern is surrounded by trees, fresh air, but it is on the road so the traffic may disturb you a little. It is not good for light sleepers. 😇 But definitely worth a stay. Breakfast is good.🍰🍩☕
- lcntiut (10/5): Quite, comfort stay - This is a good option to spend some days in Prague. It is a quite place, clean and cozy. The Pension has parking place available and city center is 10 minutes away by car.
We got the breakfast included and were pleased with the meal and good coffee. Would come back sometimes.
- 549natasal (10/5): Business and pleasure - If your needs are just like you're seeing on pictures about this pension that's it! Beautiful and quiet part of the town, perfectly connected. Rooms are clean, staff are so friendly and we will certainly come again.
- Sheldon (10/5): Helpful staff - There was some confusion in my reservation request but the hotel did a great job to sort it out and resolve.
- VS2211 (8/5): Good option but needs improvement! - We were two families of 7 persons, who stayed here for three nights. First about the positives. The facility is nice and clean. They also have free secure parking. We had booked three double rooms. Two of the rooms were quite spacious, while the third was a little tight (right next to the receptionist's office), but it didn't bother us much. The two ladies at the reception were very polite, friendly and helpful. They gave us several tips and wonderful advice on the city and important sights. The wi-fi was fast and reliable. The bathrooms were reasonably spacious. It is an easy walk to the tram station, from where within 10 mins one can get to the center. Now about some of the issues. The second day, after we returned from our sightseeing adventure, we saw that the rooms were still dirty and not made. There was a young guy at the reception who seemed lost and preoccupied. We informed him that we would be checking out early the next day, since we were driving to Bratislava. However the next morning at around 830 when we went down (breakfast starts at 0800 hours), there was nobody in the breakfast area and nothing was laid out. We kept ringing the bell over and over again, but there was no response. Finally after around half hour, this young fellow comes sprinting up (from the basement) and you could tell that he had overslept. He apologized and set up the breakfast, but all this felt a little strange. On the whole, the place offers good value for money.
- MagdalenaC734 (10/5): Loved it - Great location, walking distance to town ( half an hour or so), bus stop right in front of it.
Nice, bright rooms, comfy beds, very clean. Great breakfast in the morning. Secure parking, Wifi, all included in very good price. Friendly and helpful staff (the young fellow at the front desk spoke good English).
- 388sl_vkab (8/5): Weekend at Prague - It was a very nice hotel, little further away from the Centre however I enjoyed a little taste of public trasportation such as metro. :) I absolutely loved the room in the attic, I liked how the bed was situated. The only reason I'm giving this hotel 4/5 is because not everyone is up for a hotel that is further away from the Centre. However the price is very good, so the location isn't that much of a deal. The food was also great and a wide choice of meal for breakfast, also the quality of the services is excellent. The staff was very helpful and very easy going.
- Pui Ieng (10/5): Comfortable stay - The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood and I slept well. The room was nice and they made my room very clean and tidy every day. There were beautiful pictures throughout the hotel and it was like going to a mini exhibition as I walked up/down the stairs. They also did the laundry for me for free. Breakfast was good. The guy at the reception was always nice and energetic even though he was working there almost all the time during my stay.
The location is a bit far from the centre but can be easily connected by public transport. On my last night I had to go to the room on the top floor since I requested one extra night just a few days beforehand. That room was very small but for one night it was ok. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
- anda16ro (10/5): Kern Pension was a really nice place to stay, excelent price/quality ratio - I had a really placent stay at Kern Pension .The room was clean, the room and bathroom a good size, they changed the towels each day, they had a lot of plugs to recharge our camera and phones. The breakfast was same each day,but you had several things to chose from so was good. We initialy booked 3 nights, but we liked Prague,so decided to stay one more day. The price for 4 nights was almost the same as the price I booked for 3. The reception girl was really nice, she expected us in the morning with all we needed to get to city center, a map, a list of public transportation we could take to get there, on what stations we need to stop to get the next one. The pension is situated in Praha 5, in a nice residential area, with lots of trees. Although bit far from city center,is easy to get there with public transportantion. The bus station is right in front of the Pension, you do need to go with metro too though. The public transport its really good, and you get used to it really fast. If i go to Prague again, I would definatly go there again, excelent ratio betwen price and quality. The free parking and free WiFi its definatly a plus.
- Krzysztof (10/5): - Clean, comfy with good connection to Old Town and Prague Castle. Bus stop is just outside the hotel. Private parking is small but it's free.
Personal sehr freundlich!
- aevtimova (8/5): Nice hotel, good value - We have chosen this pension because we were traveling by car and it has a free parking. The hotel is situated in a quiet neighborhood and only couple of minutes to the tram Nr.9, which takes you to the old city centre in less than 10 minutes. The room was very clean and the staff is very friendly. Bathroom was a bit bulky, but clean. It has fast wifi connection as well. Breakfast is quite A very good option especial if you are with a car!
- Charles (10/5): Friendly Staff and Nice Breakfast - We stayed a long weekend. It was walking distance to a very nice park with a great and reasonably-priced restaurant. Downtown is easy to access with public transportation. It is a quick 5-10 minute walk from the hotel to the trams. There is also a bus stop in front of the hotel, but we only used it once at night. I think it takes about 20-30 minutes to ride the tram into the city center. It was a easy ride with I think, one transfer. I would recommend staying here. It was an excellent deal.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The pension has bus stops in both directions, one leading to the metro, one leading to the trams. We always chose the metro, which was just a few stops away by bus and takes you to the city center. Bus is the only public transportation option from the airport. The owners suggested taking a bus and then transferring to another bus, which takes you directly to the hotel. Unfortunately the first leg of the bus route is very long and windy. On the way back to the airport we discovered we could take the bus in front of the hotel to the Jinonice metro stop on the yellow line and take it to to the Zlicin stop (end of the line). Then there is a very direct bus (#100) to the airport.
- n_gyesin (10/5): Really good hotel - We spent 5 days in this cosy pension. The room was very big and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast is rich. We could achieve the center very quickly. I recommend this hotel for everyone.
- Dushankina (10/5): Amazing service! - I stayed in this place off-season and there were very few guests but the service was great! The hotel is nice and clean and the girl that worked there was one of the nicest people I've ever met!Peaceful location but close to the centre,I highly recommend it!
- 619mariannec (10/5): Best value for money - We went for a short holiday with freinds. The hotel was Very cheap so we didn't expect much. But it was so nice. Small, clean and cosy and with very friendly staff. Some rooms small but with all we needed. You are a fool not to visit. Also nice breakfast - don't order both eggs/ham and pancakes unless you are very hungry :-). Staff has very good language skills. We will come back to visit if we go to Prague again :-). We had contacted the hotel before arrival and also here the service was in top. The hotel is placed in the outside of the City, but there is a Tram station in walking distance. And a busstop just outside. We would like to give the hotel our best references. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxc
- crackers123 (10/5): Out of town cheap stay with brilliant service. - Great staff, friendly, helpful and English speaking. Brilliant breakfast cooked to order. Location out of town so much cheaper, just 35 euro for us but easy wall to catch a tram and a bus stop right outside. Rooms not ultra modern but very comfy and very nice bathrooms. Would definitely stay again.
- HW367 (10/5): Great hotel - Very friendly and efficient staff, nice breakfast room, great atmosphere. A short taxi ride from Prague town centre. Quiet and friendly neighbourhood and there is a shopping centre nearby.
Highly recommended.
- laurenck (10/5): Great value - We picked Pension Kern because of the reviews on tripadvisor and were very glad we did. The rooms are clean and quiet. Everyone working was very kind, spoke English, and were helpful with directions. There is free and safe parking available upon request. The location is a little farther out from the main areas of interest but the public transportation is very quick and reliable. In fact, we appreciated being further away from the major tourists areas. It was a nice change using public transportation instead of driving a car around and worrying about parking. We'd definitely stay again!
- Paufa16 (10/5): Great option in Prague - We have chosen this pension because we were travelling by car and Pension Kern has a parking for free. Pension Kern is situated in a quiet neighborhood and only 10-15 minutes from the old city centre. The only problem is if you return late in the night because you have to use the subway and then a bus which end its service around 1 am. During the day you can do the connection really fast. The room was very clean and the staff is very friendly. It has wifi connection as well. A very good option!
