Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): Kesinlikle Tavsiye etmiyorum. - Tarihi bölgelere yakınlığı nedeniyle tercih ettik. Fakat otel son derece kötü, temizlik kavramı ile henüz tanışmamışlar. Banyoda böcekler geziyor, personel ilgisiz, TV çalışmıyor, Klozetler bozuk... Otel genel olarak PİS. hotels.com daki fotoğraflarla uzaktan yakından alakası yok.
- Ugur (10/5): KALINABİLİR BİR HOTEL - FİYATI UYGUN MERKEZİ YERDE ÇALIŞANLAR ON NUMARA
Really good hotel I like melita the reception gays very good
- Verified traveler (10/5): uygun - şükrü ve fatih beye ilgilerinden dolayı teşekkür ederiz
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Carpets need to be changed. There were stains on carpet all over.
- Brian (6/5): Good location and value - The Melita was a pleasant surprise given the mixed reviews I had read. My room was small but quite manageable for one person. Everything worked, it was quiet and clean, the hot water was reliable and the staff were pleasant. Breakfast was plentiful and very Turkish (bread, cheese, eggs, tomato, olives) while the coffee was good.
- S.L. (6/5): Small but comfy, sort of dodgy neighborhood. - The hotel room was small but more than suitable, however the walk to the hotel late at night was kind of dodgy. During the daytime, however, the proximity to the Metro line is quite nice.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Alina (6/5): Good place for budget price. - Very convenient location-close to AKSARAY Metro station. Just problem- to bring heavy luggage by stairs to get a lobby.
- heck (6/5): reception - the receptionists are not friendly, especially the one that checked me in. he wanted me pay straight away, which I did, and then he asked me to go up to my room, without having been given the receipt, which prooves that I have payed. When I insisted to get my receipt, he got cold and unfriendly, and he kept his unfriendly, stupid attitude for the 5 days and nights I have spent there. too bad, otherwise....
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel - Like it as I did not expecting as most reviews wasn't good but it was stoning
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
- Francesco (10/5): ottima posiziopne - ben collegato con aeroporto - molto bene - ci tornerò appena possibile
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely stay - The hotel is located quite close to the tramway which takes you to all the sight seeing sites. when i arrived i was greeted with friendly staff. My room was small but the perfect size me. It was very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would most certainly stay there again.
- Andy G (4/5): Fine, but nothing more - The hotel is a little hard to find - the signage at street level is poor. The staff are helpful and the hotel is clean throughout.
My main criticism is that the rooms are very dated in their lighting and furnishing. It's fine if you just want a place to sleep and shower, but it's not a hotel where you could work in the rooms or spend a lot of time relaxing.
The neighborhood, while not unsafe, might not appeal to all travellers.
I was impressed by the hotel's good, fast, free wifi in my room.
- Sid (8/5): Local ethnic experience just out the door. - Hotel staff were extraordinarily courteous and helpful. Not high end facility, but rich in local ambiance. Clean. Safe. Food, cafes, snacks, drinks, personal care products just out the door. Metro trolley and Subway within 2 blocks. Definitely would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Conveniently, placed, clean and comfortable. - We stayed twice in this hotel in the last month. The location is excellent for the airport, easy ride by metro, about 30 mins and a short walk to hotel. Only 15 mins walk into the heart of Sultanamet and all sights.
The first room was satisfactory but a bit poky.
The second time we had a fantastic room - deluxe - very spacious and comfortable.
Breakfast was ok but would have liked more cereal, fruit and yogurt.
- Aziz (8/5): - Hotel was good. Good location and service. Breakfast should be better. Personal was very good and very kind. There was 24 hours complimentary of water, Juice and 4 or 5 types of coffee.
- Amir (6/5): Tiny rooms in a key location - It is in a walking distance from Metro (M1) and main Tramways. The rooms with very basic facilities (close to none) are so small that you will have problems finding a space for your suitcase ! You should stay in this hotel if you really need to be in Aksaray area. The staffs behaviour varied from kind to not-so-polite. One agreed with 1 hour late check out the other one warned that our luggage would be moved out of the room if we are late a minute ! The hotel had a good wifi. I am not sure if it is a value for money
- Mike and Marilyn (8/5): Little out of the way but good value for the price - If you don't mind being a little out of the way this hotel offers a very good value for the price. It was comfortable and interesting to be amongst the every day Turkish people and not in a tourista atmosphere. Easy access to public transportation to get around the city. The staff was very polite and helpful and can speak good english. Wouldn't hestate to stay there again.M
- Verified traveler (6/5): good location but difficult to find at first! - I'd definitely recommend looking up how to get to the hotel before setting off, even if you intend taking a taxi. Great location for the tram and metro, and for eating out. There is a mosque practically next door so the call to prayer can be quite loud especially if you're at the back of the hotel and a light sleeper, also the curtains do not keep out much light, so I was awake early anyway! There was free tea, coffee and juice in the lobby throughout the day which was very welcome when coming back from a long, hot day!
- Elkin (8/5): Close to everything by public transportation - The place is on a very central location, the price is good for the location. the hotel is clean but the rooms are small.
- Lisa & Nikolaj (10/5): Good for the price range - The hotel was nice, well kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. All our requests were handled by their best abilities, booking sightseeing tours, booking restaurants, finding locations. The breakfast was alright, small selection but enough off it. New fresh towels everyday. Was a good experience and the hotel is good compared to what you pay.
- PO (8/5): Bra läge - Perfekt ställe lite utanför turiststråket. Bra matställen i området.
- Teemu (4/5): Extremely noisy. Price difference due to currency - The location was extremely noisy. Aircon did not work at all. Breakfast buffet was totally worse than in the pic on Hotels.com page. The price per night was informed in euros when booking but at the time of checkin the Hotel used so bad exchange rate for the currency change so we had to pay appr. 15% more in Liras that the real exchange rate was in Finland. I was disappointed to the totality; Hotels.com information and the hotel itself.
- William (4/5): Smallest room we have ever had in Istanbul - We have stayed in six different hotels in Istanbul during three previous trips to Turkey. This is our fourth trip there and we tried this hotel. The neighborhood is a bit more real Turkey and less touristy than close in Sultenamet which was fine with us. The room was clean and everything worked. WiFi was good. However, it was by far the smallest room we have had, and we have had small rooms in the past. Also, thr room was quite noisy as it looked out on the street. The staff was nice, and English was spoken.
- Texas Traveler (8/5): Small Good Hotel- Close to Metro - Close to Metro- Seven minutes walk. Friendly staff, free WiFi, good breakfast. Not a fancy hotel but great for the price paid.
- gerrry hardiman (2/5): not as advertised again - as at the west ada inn there was no bar or no restrant here, as addvertised
- adam (4/5): only if you have a very tight budget - room very small, stained carpets, noisy neighborhood. front desk very friendly. moved after two nights due to room conditions.
- TheHoff (8/5): clean and good enough for most tourists. - First of all, I have to say the hotel is nice and the food in the nearby area is awesome.
Please be aware that there is no carpark! so if you rent a car you'll have to do some medieval parking on the street, I suggest you take a fully comprehensive insurance, but since you are going to Istanbul that is advised anyway ;)
I would suggest you rent a car for your journey to Istanbul. Yes they drive really bad, but you should manage if you have at least 4-5 years experience. The reason why you should rent a car is that you can see much more places and you are more independent.
All in all the Hotel was good, there is a subway station 5 min from the hotel and the bus stops are there as well.
There are two big mosques nearby and as mentioned before awesome food!
One bad thing was the WiFi connection and that's because the router was on the other side of our floor, so it was bad luck. Each floor has it's own router so you'll get to check your emails no matter on which side of the hotel you stay ;-)
- Christian (8/5): very central, easy to reach, good hotel - Staying in the hotel was pleasant, the service was good, the breakfast okay, the room a bit noisy, but okay. The location of the hotel is great, everything is within walking distance and access to public transport is good.
On the negative side, the hotel overcharged me. They converted the price I had signed up for to Turkish Liras, though at their own rate, causing a ten percent surcharge. This somewhat reduces my excitement for this place.
- Denis Rain (8/5): Nice place to short term stay - Near to metro and to the other public transports stations. 30 min from Ataturk airport and 15 min from Otogar autobus terminal. 3 min from metro Aksaray. Situated at area with a lot of kebab houses and grocery stores. Surronded by any kind of stores: textile, leather etc. Actually not so far from sitesights. The hotel is clean and practice. The room is not too large. The hotel can be recommended as short term stay for 1-2 night to have rest on your way to final destination or as place to sleep during shopping.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Chambres trés petite et sale .
- Bob (10/5): Good value for many - Exactly as it says - you get your money back. Very friendly and helpful staff, great location with easy access from the airport.
- Richard (8/5): Good Value - Very close to public transit connections to the airport and to all the main tourist attractions. Helpful staff. I'd stay here again.
- Leslie (10/5): Melita - When I booked this hotel I thought just another hotel, but how wrong I was,the staff was very friendly and helpful, the hotel was very clean and comfortable, the food very good ,location is very convenient to local transport, the staff always willing to help in giving directions to sites and attractions,
I give this hotel and staff 10/10
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel Melita - Friendly service and a fantastic buffet breakfast. Neighbourhood was convenient but a bit seedy.
- marouf (2/5): very bad place - very bad place not clean smells very bad but I like it the location
- Wesley (6/5): Thee is a lot to see and do in Istanbul and this hotel is very convenient to it all. - This is not the best hotel. The air condition did not work and the ceiling was cracked and peeling. The nights in Istanbul were and comfortable so I was not inconvenienced at night by the broken air condition.
The staff was professional and extremely helpful. They were very friendly and really went out of their way to make me fell comfortable. If I went back to Istanbul alone, I may choose to stay there.
