Guest Reviews
- Carla (8/5): -
- Bahige (4/5): Great location but not yet up to standard for Mariott - Great location
Comfortable room Dirty shower - there was hair from a prior guest when I joined
Unresponsive team- they sent the team to clean the room and still missed the spot
- Ryan (10/5): Highly recommend this hotel for couples wanting to see the sights. Perfect location, clean and polite helpful staff. - The location was perfect. Close by a subway station which took us up and down town when needed to the likes of Brooklyn Bridge or up to Central Park. A 10-15 mins walk from a lot of landmarks like Times Square and Empire State Building etc.
Round the corner from 5th Avenue for shops and Broadway.
- Amparo (6/5): - La ubicación El servicio dejaba que desear y las habitaciones son muy ruidosas
- Leonardo (9/5): -
- allison (8/5): Clean, comfortable stay with good access to the subway. - Place was fine. Typical small NY hotel. Location worked out well; close to multiple subway entrances. The only thing that would have been better was to have a microwave in the room.
- juan cruz (5/5): Bien - Ubicación Zona ruidosa. Durante la noche me despertaba por los ruidos. Los tapones para oídos que te dan de cortesía ya lo dicen todo. A pesar de eso el personal muy amable.
- Patrice Gaborit (8/5): - Hôtel bien situé Il faut laisser couler l'eau ouverte à fond pendant 5/6 minutes pour avoir de l'eau chaude,
- Linda (10/5): - The location of the hotel was amazing for what we had planned. The hotel itself was amazing. The self check in and check out service is very streamlined. Everything was so clean. Definitely recommend!
- Reka (8/5): -
- Myroulla (7/5): -
- Jasmine (8/5): Such an amazing location for first time visit in NYC. - The location was great and lovely friendly staff. Great bars and cafes either side. The property was quite noisy however they are aware of this and provide earplugs.
- Rayco (8/5): -
- Candy (8/5): Super Standort. - Lage ist super.
Ausstattung sehr modern, aber alt abgewohnt

Typisch NY Style Sehr laut aufgrund Ladezone am Hotel.
Abgewohnte Möbel.

Kein Zimmersafe.

- Ishan (9/5): Superb -
- Helena (8/5): Very good -
- Tosca (7/5): It was ok - I have stayed at Sonder many times this just felt like any hotel room None of the amenities of Nash Battery Park and One Platt
- Mary (1/5): Bad -
- Keagan (9/5): Superb -
- R (6/5): Mixed experience - The property is quite tired. I had to move room because of a problem with broken fittings.
Thankfully the staff upgraded my room, which was better.
I'm not sure I'd stay again.
- Jennifer (2/5): Location is great but rooms are dirty.floor is sticky and dirty Sheets are thin and cheap everythingi is old for the p - Location Dirty room
- Veronika (9/5): Best location in NYC so far. Would stay again :) - As a tourist this is the best location I've stayed at yet in NY. Very central and so convenient to walk anywhere or take the subway. There are soo many food options and great cafes downstairs, literally at your doorstep. I would 100% stay here again. The hotel had left some ear plugs in the room so I had expected it to be very loud, but was pleasantly surprised that it's not too bad at all ! The size of the room was very small although it's to be expected in NYC. This also isn't a typical hotel with a big check in lobby. You check yourself in really but there is one staff member during the day if you have any questions.
- Joanna (6/5): - The hotel is located in an amazing and safe area. Unfortunately the check in process is not great. The room is small as expected but you could barely get into the bathroom with how the toilet is placed and the door doesn't swing open all the way. The floor in the bathroom was dirty, the shower drain had hair in it, the ceiling vent had dust on it that flew down when you turned it on and the bathroom vanity cabinet was broken and beat up. The room space is decent, but the bedding is really bad. It's a synthetic fiber comforter that has been washed so much that the fibers just clump into certain areas and should be thrown out. Definitely not what I expected.
- Joseph (4/5): - We expected a normal trip to New York as we typically stay at 4 star hotels. We were disappointed to say the least. Our bathroom was small, leave the door open to use the toilet, the shower could use a good cleaning.
- Chloé (8/5): Very good - Perfect location in Manhattan! Great view on Broadway. Confortable bed and pillows. Spacious room. The kitchen only had a fridge, a microwave and a kettle, so I wouldn’t call it a « kitchen » and therefore, it was overpriced (there’s a microwave available for all rooms on level 2, no need to pay extra to have it in the room). Not enough space for clothes (only a small hanger)
- Jana Op Het Broek (6/5): - Unique location if you love vibrant street life. Easy to walk towards Empire or other way to Washington park. You basically rent a room with no other hotel facilities. Virtual key chain did not work properly which was quite annoying. Room windows were dirty that gave uncomfortable feeling. The staff was not always present or came late.
- Xavier (4/5): - Extremely loud. You hear everything happening in the streets.
- Alice (4/5): Unclean and very noisy - I experienced several issues with my room that impacted my stay. The noise level was quite high and earplugs weren't sufficient to block it out. The bathroom had mold and felt dirty overall. The walls throughout the room need attention - the paint is chipping and requires a fresh coat.
I was surprised to find no water available in my room, not even for the coffee machine. There wasn't a water fountain anywhere in the hotel, and when I asked about purchasing water, I was directed to the closest CVS. The windows were very dirty, and I noticed dust accumulated in every corner of the room.
I do want to emphasize that the location is great, and the reception staff were absolutely lovely - the lady who checked me in was the kindest and most helpful person. This feedback is purely about the property condition, not the service.
My main concern is that I paid a high rate per night, which set much higher expectations for the room quality. At this price point, I felt disappointed with what I received and honestly feel a bit ripped off. Had I paid a cheaper rate, I wouldn't have had the same level of concerns about these maintenance issues.
- Alejandro (3/5): Poor - location "When we arrived, the floor of the room was sticky, and we had to buy Clorox wipes. Then, when we went to the bathroom, there was a towel from the previous guests full of hair on top of the shower. Lastly, when we opened the fridge, there was food from the previous guests, and of course, it smelled very bad."
- Valentina (6/5): Great location. Hotel is too expensive for the services (or rather lack) offered. - The location is great. The room was a lot smaller than showed in the pictures. The staff was really nice and helpful. I wasn't allowed to do early check-in despite contacting the facility straight after booking it, and when I was offered to check-in one hour before the hotel's time, they wanted to charge an extra fee. They also charge for cleaning facilites. It was like staying at an airbnb rather than a hotel. Honestly not much that you can expect from a self service hotel.
- Charles (6/5): - the staff were very nice but check is was a hassle; codes did not work; when i went to request room cleaning first morning on line at 7am and it would not work they told me it had to be requested at check in; no one told me that; coffee machine spewed grinds, show dispenser pumps broken and with all the hard surface the room next door was too loud.
- Nina (1/5): Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Do not book!! - Good location. This is the only positive. Do not book this hotel!!! This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The room was so dirty; there were old contact lenses on the floor, window sills etc. The floor and walls were generally so dirty and walls need a paint. The customer service at this hotel is atrocious! When you enter the hotel there may not be any staff at the reception and if there are staff there they won’t look up from their phones to even greet you. When you ask them for something this was most often met with a sigh and rolling of eyes. You have to request new towels every day via an app and even then towels may still not turn up. There is NO housekeeping, if you want housekeeping you have to pay an extra charge. You also have to go and fetch your own replacement soap, toilet roll etc. There are lifts in the hotel but long wait sometimes. I ended up walking down the stairs one night but turned around as there was a person using drugs at the end of the stairs case. This really is not a 4 star hotel at all - at best it’s 1 star.
- Boughattas (8/5): Very good -
- Dolly (10/5): Loved it. Amazing view from room the highlight of our trip - Loved this hotel so much. So central and room was massive. Our hotel room was the highlight of our trip with its amazing views. Staff were super helpful offering us adapters Nothing
- Christina (3/5): Wouldn't stay here again. - The staff were kind and friendly. The lobby was clean. However, the room itself was not great. The shower was not cleaned properly. The bathroom floor had toenail clippings. The floor in the main room was sticky... I will never stay at a Sonder again. The room was atrocious.
- Peter (6/5): - Not cleaning room daily bathroom very small no fresh towels except if requested
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pamela (6/5): - I liked the location, I liked my room, the bed was great and so were the pillows. The shower experience was 5 star. However, not so clean! Hair here and there, the place could use a good wipe down! I wasn't there long so it wasn't much of any issue. It's as if the hired cleaners have not been trained how to properly clean a room. Also, the room is stuffy. AC resolved the problem for me, and it was 45 degrees outside and raining. It would probably be terrible if one needed the heater instead of the AC.
- Maya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannah (8/5): - I had a wonderful stay!
Check in/out was efficient, with the option to
Room was clean and larger than most you would find in New York.
I d
I had a minor maintenance issue at the start but the Sonder team was very quick in responding and solving it.
- Nicola (10/5): Brilliant experience, would recommend ! - We had a fabulous stay at SONDER flatiron and would highly recommend. The staff were super friendly, chatty and helpful. All of them had a sunny disposition which really help to make our stay! Our room was exactly what we hoped for and the communication online prior to our stay really helped me to feel sure we would get what we hoped for. A little touch of a welcome / anniversary card was also very sweet. We had a corner room which was worth paying extra for! The views were amazing and the room was so spacious ! It definitely helped having a kitchenette too! Only drawbacks were with such an incredible dual aspect view was that the windows could have done with a clean to make the most of it!
- Lindsey (6/5): Great location and place for the price - Location TV didn't work and there wasn't an iron in my room, took staff over thirty minutes to get an iron up
- Nick (6/5): - The room was dirty upon arrival. There was evident dust on the drawers, in the bathroom, side tables, and marks on the glasses. I went downstairs to let the staff know, and they were not the most hospitable. They sent a cleaning team up to re-clean our room on arrival. When the cleaning team came, the did not knock and opened the door on us. Thankfully my wife was in the bathroom with the door shut, but it was pretty uncomfortable.
The cleaning crew did not fully clean the room either, they missed the mirror in the bedroom area, the vents in the bathroom still had dust buildup on them, and the shower seals showed visible signs of mold.
The staff brought new cups and glasses and offered us a $100 credit to our stay.
However, be warned. If you stay longer than 4 days, they don’t have cleaning service included and you have to pay $35 to have a cleaning team come. They did not even have someone come replace the linens, refill toilet paper in the bathroom, or even make the bed.
This is something you expect in a budget hotel, but for the price we paid, there are other hotels in the area of midtown that offer better hospitality and services. The rooms were also fairly cheap feeling. The furniture was IKEA grade wood and there was a general sense of cost cutting throughout the hotel. I would not recommend Sonder hotels, at least this midtown location.
- Kim (7/5): It’s clean and ok - The size of the room far exceeded normal NYC hotel room size. Big windows bring in Lots of light. However windows are dirty when looking out and they don’t open even slightly to get fresh air in. Also, poor lighting inside room at night. The hotel is kinda like a semi supervised Airbnb. Sometimes there’s someone at the front desk, sometimes not. No housekeeping which is also ok. Really convenient and nice flatiron neighborhood. Right up the street from a big park and Eataly.
- Thomas (4/5): Disappointing - Renovation needed
- Cecilia (8/5): Very good - It’s great located; walking distant (if you like walking) to midtown and Chelsea. Otherwise, plenty of subway options to choose. On weekends, it gets noisy as there are bars and clubs all around.
They don’t do the room during your stay.
- Lora Liza (8/5): - The room was well kept and the toiletries were complete. The shower space is a little too small though but there was a lot of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel available. The dispenser pump of the shampoo was defective though. The staff were accommodating and quickly responded to requests for assistance such as cleaning arrangements. The online check-in and check-out experience was seamless and convenient. Generally, our experience was quite good.
- Thomas (10/5): - Very good
- Elyran (3/5): Poor -
- Colin (9/5): Superb -
- Matthew (6/5): Okay, but kinda dirty and mildew - Room needed some maintenance. I have visited a couple Sonders and all seem to be lacking maintenance. This room's bathroom smelled a bit mildewey. When I turned on the shower, water poured out of the shower pan, through the shower curb, and onto the rest of the floor. That solves the mystery. The shower was leaking all over the rest of the room. The leak was HUGE. There is no way that this went unnoticed. This was just a lack of maintenance.
The rest of the room was fine. It was quite small but it was comfortable. The bed was comfy and she sheets were clean. The floor looked like it needed a good mopping and scrub because it was dirty.
The property gives you a code to get in the doors instead of a key card but all of the key pads were kind of worn out.
- Alfredo (10/5): - A wonderful place for singles or couples. Not a great place for families because the rooms are small due to the premium location. However the hotel is excellent if you're going alone or just with another friend. I can't recommend it enough. The rooms are small but that's because of the lower price for the absolute top tier area it's in
- Diane (10/5): - Love the concept, affordability and the friendly and helpful staff. Hotels are always situated in a great cultural spot to be in. I really appreciate that.
- Frederic (7/5): Good option for no thrill stay at competitive price. You should expect some minor downsides. - Location, price, room The street is very noisy and the windows do not insulate anything… difficult to sleep without earplugs. The staff is here to watch their screen. Zero service… i guess this is what you have for the price. But a simple courtesy would go a long way.
- Tim (10/5): - Excellent place to stay
- Josymar (10/5): - Excellent location!!
- Alex (10/5): - Everything was good about it
- Liu (8/5): Very good -
- Norman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joseph (2/5): - Was gross. Had a connecting door to another room that I didn’t know about when booking. And someone was coughing and puking loudly all night
- Vanessa (9/5): Great location clean and contemporary - Great location, clean and nicely styled. Staff were very friendly and helpful
- Hayley (7/5): Good -
- Kristopher (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, comfortable bed and nice staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room code didn't work right after check in, I had to go back down to front desk and wait for the code to be assigned again. Shower gadgets were poorly maintained and hot water takes too long, also cools down after a bit. Staff friendly and helpful.
- Duc Anh Thu (2/5): Terrible stay at Sonder. Very noisy. - Our room is facing the street and is very noisy and we were unable to sleep the whole night, despite wearing the earplugs.
- Kyle (4/5): Not great - Place was not clean, bed was not comfortable and they folding even have a vending machine or anything. Won’t be back
- Natasha (8/5): Very good - Location, amenities, cleanliness None
- elise (10/5): - great experience
- Debra (4/5): - The shower had been worked on a caulk drop lets. The room itself was very clean. Almost like the plumber came and stained and droppped caulk drop lets on shower and no one told the cleaning crew. As the rest of the bathroom hotel room clean. Also was not clear on booking self check in. So really not hotel it is rental
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, nice building, only issue was digital key and code was very inconsistent
- Jesse (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessie (1/5): Think twice before booking a Sonder - The location is great and their customer services team are responsive. But that is all I can say Oh blimey - where to start. Sonder is a modern hotel where you use a dedicated code to access the rooms and in some cases the building itself. The room we booked (classified as a studio) was large but with a standard double. No privacy voiles - so you’re on display the entire time. There is no secondary glazing so you are unlikely to get any sleep. The bathroom is impractical with nowhere to put anything. I had to make my own table out of my suitcase! Ridiculous. I complained to customer services and after attempting to fob me off, conceded and offered me a refund for the nights we hadn’t stayed. It was a very stressful and expensive exercise.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (8/5): - Room was spotless. Shower was great, bed was pretty comfy. Neighborhood is great. Only gripes: coffee machine was broken and room temperature control didn’t seem to work.
- Denis (4/5): - The AC did not work my entire stay. And they wouldn’t send someone to look at it until the morning of my check out
- Austine (10/5): - Second time staying at this property i actually got a better room booking through expedia. Love the sonder properties. The only thing was their was a demolition happening right out our window. We were adequately warned and they provided airplugs
- Maya (8/5): - Room is very humid and smells like mildew.
- Kellie (7/5): Good location - Good location Airconditioner in room didn’t cope with the NYC heat.
- Lottie H (8/5): - Great communication!
- JOSHUA M (8/5): - Small, cute efficient. Had some issues that were addressed well by staff. Area can be super noisy at night if you are a light sleeper-
- Tash (9/5): Will stay here again whenever I need to stay in downtown NYC. Staff was super helpful! - Super central. Nothing - it was clean and close to everything I needed!
- Rbig123 (7/5): Awesome location, great city vibe - Awesome location. Loved the direct view in a lovely NYC street with an awesome vibe. Loved to watch the city in the morning. Staff was very friendly. Bed and bathroom were smaller than expected, but everything else was great.
- Linda (10/5): Love this hotel! - Big room with lots of space, microwave, coffeemashine and fridge. Great bed and the room was perfect and clean.
Close to everything. Delish Gelato on the corner, 230 Roof Top Bar and other great restaurants/bars to visit. Nothing!
- Katerina (5/5): Passable -
- Julie (8/5): Perfect for midtown atmosphere and views. - Loved the view and location. Lovely big room. Nothing.
- Salil (6/5): Ok - Big rooms and great location Run down furniture. Limited staff doing multiple jobs and very poor security
- Mike (10/5): Great place highly recommend - Everything was great
- BYUNGHA (10/5): - nice and spacious room
- J. Paul (4/5): - Way overpriced. No amenities. They advertise a gym access to Blink Fitness. Not true. Blink suspended them. The room is tiny, beat up and doesn’t look like the pictures online. The elevator is really shoddy. There are many much nicer hotels in the area for the same price. I will never stay at a Sonder hotel again.
- Katrina (8/5): Great location, design forward spaces, comfy bed, no food or amenities but a great stay. - The room was well designed and the building is in a great location in downtown Manhattan. There are high end touches and the pillows were very comfortable. Tight squeeze of a bathroom but great soap/shampoo/conditioner. Everything was code operated (front door, elevator, room) so made it easy getting in. Very friendly front desk staff and nice to have lockers in the building for storing luggage if you arrive before check in. While ear plugs and a white noise machine were provided in room, it was exceptionally loud through all hours of the night. I was woken up multiple times by trash trucks with glass breaking and hydraulic noises.
