- S5563EEdanield (10/5): First International Trip, First time in London - Centrally located, it was a perfect daily starting point to explore London for the first time, what a lovely hotel. Despite being right in thick of a very busy area near 'Chinatown' and 'Leicester Square', every time I entered and exited the hotel it felt safe and somewhat private at least to me. Friendly staff greet you as you enter and exit the hotel, it was like you just arrived every time. As I recall hotel staff are very attentive to guests and regularly checked if I needed anything but also respected your privacy and time. This being the first time I traveled outside the United States I am grateful for the excellent customer service from the staff at the entrance, check-in staff, and the gentleman who delivered my delicious meal for my in room meal service. Should have wrote his name down. I definitely appreciated the nice touch of having a in room tablet that I was able to use to control lighting, as well as the television. Atmosphere throughout the hotel was welcoming, noise levels are kept at a minimum despite the lively action. Rooms are clean and just right in size with multiple different options to choose from. To top it off on Easter Sunday I found that they had left a lovely special rich chocolate Easter treat in my room. General Manager Morten Skumsrud, thank you to all your staff for being a part of making my first international trip as success!

I can’t remember this hotel enough. If you have any doubts of what hotel to go for W by far tops any other hotel from their customer service alone speaks volumes! The receptionists were very helpful, and the housekeeping were very thoughtful. I am very impressed!

From the moment we met him, Finn showed a level of care, attentiveness, and genuine kindness that you just don’t come across often. He didn’t just check us in, he took care of us. He listened, he understood what we had just gone through, and he went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable, welcomed, and taken care of in every possible way. Because of Finn, what started as a nightmare turned into an absolute dream. His energy, professionalism, and warmth completely changed the tone of our trip. The staff were truly 5 star, and the concierge really went above and beyond. The room was a good size and the bathroom was luxurious with amazing toiletries. We’ve been some of the biggest fans of the W chain over the last few years, mainly due to a world-class stay’s in UAE. Our stay at W Algarve was also excellent, although it did come with a few issues, which coincides with this review. Previous Experience – W Algarve The issues at W Algarve mainly involved inconsistencies and broken promises: • We were told half board could be used for room service, but on arrival we were told it couldn’t • The same confusion applied to the lobby dining area, we were misinformed regarding costs of the indoor sauna/steam room pool. • Payments were taken from a held debit card despite being told we would pay on departure, amongst a few other things. Despite these issues, we still left a 5-star review because the room and overall hotel experience made up for it during our 8-day stay. When checking out, the Director of Rooms approached us and said that if we stayed at a W again after the issues we’d experienced, they would make sure we had the best stay possible, mentioning things like: • Room upgrades • Being treated like royalty • A special experience overall Why We Booked W London Our daughter is about to start nursery and my wife is returning to work, so we decided to book W London for a final special break together. Despite the high cost and many other hotels with better value and reviews, we chose W based on our previous loyalty and experience. And the promises made by the room director and the reservation team from W London . Which again , felt misinformed almost lied to. I contacted W London ahead of our stay and received the following responses: • “If you let us know her name and what she likes, we can personalise the amenities for you.” (We expected a personalised touch for my wife / daughter) • “We will be happy to connect with them regarding the free breakfast/meal or room upgrade.” (We interpreted this as a possible complimentary upgrade, especially as there are around 9 room upgrade options, the room director said he had been in touch with W London) • “We will definitely try our best to make your stay special for your wife.” (We expected at least a small gesture, perhaps a complimentary drink.) The Reality Unfortunately, NONE of this materialised: • We were given the most basic room (1 of 9 possible upgrades - no upgrade despite there being plenty available) • No complimentary breakfast offered (eventually offered, despite us not being bothered) • No personalised amenities • No recognition of our Marriott membership in regard to any upgrades. Seems to be a trend of broken promises. And disappointment. Room & Hotel Issues • No turn-down service • Photo booth had no paper, during our stay (which would have been a lovely keepsake) this was sold to us in the booking also/ reservations email. • Bathroom AND shower room lights weren’t working on arrival , so we had to get ready with phone lights. lol or sit in our room to wait for them to be fixed. • Mini fridge lights up the room at night like a Christmas tree • Blackout blinds poorly fitted, allowing significant light into the room as Leicester Square is brightly lit 24/7, making sleep difficult • Windows are very thin — conversations from people four floors below could be heard • Sauna and steam room only open at 11am (around checkout time), making them largely unusable Overall We won’t return to this hotel, and probably not to another W — with the exception of Dubai, and possibly Algarve. Looking at Tripadvisor for this hotel, around 1 in 6 reviews are 1-star. Which makes sense. The Positives • Rohit, the concierge, was excellent — friendly, kind, and professional • The availability of the new Naked Gun movie on the TV was a nice touch Final Thoughts Looks aren’t everything. Unfortunately, this stay didn’t come close to expectations, especially after the promises made beforehand. If no promises were made . I’d probably booked elsewhere and/or not felt so disappointed. So they’ve done well to take our money. My overall opinion would be to stay elsewhere.
- Mohammed (2/5): - As someone who genuinely loves W Hotels and has stayed at several locations worldwide, I was really looking forward to my stay at W London with my family. Unfortunately, it turned into one frustrating issue after another. The room situation: We were 4 people, including my youngest who is only 1 year old. The hotel insisted we needed a bigger room. I honestly think they could have made an exception given the baby's age, but they refused. They offered an upgrade to a larger suite, which I accepted because I had no choice. Then they came back and said that suite was only available for 2 nights – on the third night, we would need to upgrade to an even bigger (and more expensive) suite. I said no, I will leave after 2 days. They then told me I still had to pay the full booking amount or take it up with Booking.com. Booking.com told me the hotel needed to confirm the change. After much back and forth, they finally accepted and we continued our stay – but the stress was completely unnecessary. Breakfast issues: Breakfast was included in our rate, but my first disappointment was that it was not a buffet – unexpected for a hotel at this level. Then, on the final invoice, they charged me for a smoothie, claiming it was not included in the "included breakfast." That makes no sense and left a very bad taste. Final verdict: I will not return to W London. I truly hope other W Hotels around the world haven't followed the same path. This location felt like a constant battle over money rather than a relaxing stay.

The sink is in the middle of the room and it becomes the desk. The room could use one more flat spot to put a backpack or shopping bags. Bed is a bit soft but OK. Gym is nice and quite complete. Internet good. My only complaint is slow evening service in the restaurant. Staff are not readily available and service was quite slow. Everything else was pretty good. It's very expensive!

Der einzige kleine Kritikpunkt war, dass es kein Frühstücksbuffet gibt, sondern ausschliesslich à la carte. Das ist aber Geschmackssache, zumal die Qualität sehr gut war und die Portionen wirklich gross ausfielen. Insgesamt hat das den sehr positiven Gesamteindruck kaum beeinträchtigt.

- 742dantel (2/5): Bad Service at W London - I cannot recall having ever received such a poor and rude treatment from a five-star establishment. Let me spell it out for you. My wife and I are pretty frequent travelers and we often stay at the W when in London, where we come on business and to visit family. And we had previously been there just in October and then again in November 2025. The hotel is centrally located, the gym is airy and bright and the hotel has the kind and size of rooms that we like. In fact, the last few times, we had booked the same type of suite (number 18, Marvelous Suite). This time, at check-in on Thursday in February 2026, we asked what floor our room would be on, and the gentleman at the Welcome Desk, a nice young chap, kindly told us that it would be the third floor. Since he had understood that we were a bit disappointed because we would have preferred a room on a higher floor, therefore a bit further from the street and a little quieter, he offered to move us to the fifth floor the subsequent day, Friday, when the first floor’s room would be available. We thanked him and told him that we would look at the room and let him/them know. After going to our room - which was only ready at 3PM, so after check-in we went for lunch and then came back to the hotel - we noticed that in fact the third floor room was both a bit noisier and a bit darker, because it was missing a window, as compared to the room on the fifth floor where we had stayed in the past. So before going out for dinner, we called the Whatever Whenever line and told a lady that we had in fact decided to change room from Friday to Sunday. She asked for our number in case she needed to reach us after checking with room management (even though the hotel obviously already had all of our numbers, in fact you had called us only a few hours earlier at 3PM, to let us know that our room was ready). Anyway she never called back. The next morning, we called the same line to say that we were preparing our luggage and would leave it in the room so it could be moved when the room on the fifth floor would be ready. Another lady told us that she knew nothing about our move, that it was not in the system and that the suite on the fifth floor floor was occupied. We asked her how that was possible given that we had spoken with her colleagues the day before. She said that she did not know, and that the room on the fifth floor had now been occupied by another guest and was no longer available. As unbelievable as the fact that the fifth floor room had already been made and had already been given to another guest at that early hour might be, the more astonishing part was that the service had completely reneged on the offer they had previous made to us. She said she could move us to a different suite, which however had only internal windows and so was even less bright than ours. Then we asked to speak with a manager and another colleague came on the line. He blamed the incident on miscommunication - even though no communication was ever unclear - and again offered to move us to the room with fewer windows. He told us that unfortunately there were no other suites available on higher floors. At that point I had pretty much stopped believing the W staff, so while my wife was speaking with the gentleman I went online and saw that in fact there was a suite available from Friday to Sunday, as it happens on a higher floor. I told the gentleman about it, and after a few seconds of what I assume (or at least hope) was sheer embarrassment, he told us that yes we were correct but in fact he was not at liberty to move us that room because our "elite status” was not such that he could “comp" that type of suite. At that point, we were so livid at the incompetence of the organization, the arrogance of blatantly lying to a guest and the amateurishness of a manager’s response, that we just decided to forget about the whole incident. And made sure it would not ruin further our mood and stay in London. So that was Friday morning. No one else called us or contacted us until check-out on Sunday. As you can imagine, this is not the kind of experience we expect from an establishment like the W Hotel. And they behave this was with a repeat guest, I fail to imagine what they do with sporadic visitors. Just to add insult to injury, Sunday morning at 3:42AM, the whole hotel was evacuated. More precisely, the alarm siren went off for a while, then a gentleman on the public announcement system said that they had a problem with the alarm system and that we did not have to leave our room. Then after about 10 minutes the alarm siren started blaring again and another gentleman said that we now did actually have to evacuate the hotel. Four in the morning, on a frozen early February London morning. A spoiled night. A few hours later on Sunday morning, they told us that sprinklers had activated in a deposit and that, after checking the situation, they decided to evacuate the hotel even though there was no danger to the guests. Funny enough, on a previous stay at the W London the year before, we remember that the evacuation alarm siren had also gone off. And the bellmen told us that a similar incident had occurred the previous week in January 2026. As a bit of an afterthought, we are at it, we would suggest improving the bathroom and shower in the suite, which both have a bit of a moldy smell. Finally, I don’t usually have breakfast but I tried it one day and I received a very sad fruit plate, so we suggest that is improved too. That's it.

- phisheads (4/5): Flashy Decor Can't Cover Up Crappy Business Hotel Stench - W London completely failed to deliver on both elite recognition and basic service, and I won’t be staying there again. From the moment I arrived, it was clear my Marriott Titanium and lifetime Platinum status meant absolutely nothing here. I had already booked a suite, and the app clearly showed additional suites available, yet the hotel flatly refused a proper upgrade unless I paid more than 700 USD for it. Given Marriott’s own (now watered‑down) promise of complimentary “enhanced” rooms for Platinum and above, the way this property handled upgrades felt deliberately stingy and transactional rather than remotely loyal‑guest‑friendly. Service was just as unimpressive. About an hour before arrival, the hotel messaged me and proactively offered to have the sauna hot and ready when I got there, which is exactly the kind of wellness touch I value when choosing a property. I arrived to find the sauna completely off, so the gesture was all talk and zero follow‑through. The next night, when I asked for the same simple courtesy, I was told no and, incredibly, staff implied that I was somehow to blame for a fire alarm going off, rather than owning their own operational issues. Overall, the hotel feels like an overpriced, generic business hotel trying to disguise itself with some neon “fun flair” in the public spaces. The vibe may work if you care more about disco balls and a partyish lobby bar than actual hospitality, but if you are a frequent traveler who values elite treatment and consistent service, it’s a miss. For the rates they’re charging, you can do much better within the Marriott ecosystem in London in terms of both recognition and overall value. To be fair, there were two bright spots. The gym is genuinely impressive, with a solid range of machines and free weights, making it easy to get a real workout in. And the bed was very comfortable, in line with W’s reputation for plush bedding and good sleep quality. Unfortunately, a good gym and a comfortable mattress aren’t enough to make up for the lack of respect for loyal guests and the sloppy, inconsistent service throughout the stay. I paid 2,100 USD for a two‑night midweek stay in February, which only makes the whole experience feel even more overpriced and underwhelming.

- Jetlager (10/5): Best Stay of My Life: New Years Extravaganza! - Have you ever stayed at a hotel with such incredibly nice staff that you wanted to get them a little gift? No? Me neither... until the W London. Literally the nicest team I have ever encountered in all of my travel. Backstory - I was traveling for NYE to watch my kid perform in the London NYD parade. I originally booked the W, then a friend wanted to stay somewhere "fancier", so we booked a different hotel. Correspondence from that hotel made it seem that the level of service didn't warrant the price (two tips - look into where and how London blocks streets for NYE and make sure the NYE party you want to attend is worth the price and hassle), so I re-booked the W very happily. It is NOT in the restricted area but close to the action and has a great party at a reasonable price. Before the trip, the W Concierge "whenever wherever" reached out for details to make our stay special. I mentioned a special celebration and had a couple of requests if possible. We also booked the W's NYE party (largest disco ball in Europe? Live band and DJs? Yes, please!). When we arrived, we were greeted by name by the entire team! Our requested items were in the room for us and early check-in was accommodated (bonus!). The nicest people, genuinely trying to get to know us and make our stay special. This was just the start. If you like disco balls (and I do), this is your place! The entire hotel is decorated with disco balls. Disco ball Christmas trees, wreaths, and even a disco ball in our room! I don't want to spoil all the surprises but there are some very cool and fun room design aspects that made the W very special. The layout was extremely efficient and roomy for the two of us and the bed was comfy. The location in Chinatown is a blast - it's a party outside but the hotel provides ear plugs, and the street is blocked for traffic (foot traffic only). We didn't need the ear plugs - it was actually quite quiet in our room and there is no typical city car traffic noise. There are excellent restaurants nearby and quick access to transit, plus most places we went to were walkable (theater, shopping). Back to the staff. Not only were they pleasant on arrival, but they were also incredibly welcoming and made you feel very safe and secure every time we entered or exited the building. The workout area rivaled our club at home. We didn't eat in the restaurant but got take-away coffee/espresso in the morning which was perfect. The bar is fantastic. It was setup for families to enjoy post-ice skating (outdoor rink around the corner) with an indoor fireplace and separate areas if you want a cocktail without kids. They really try to accommodate all types of travelers. There were surprises for us for our special event and a super special NYE amenity that completely blew us away. I truly don't think that we would have had this level of service or fun at the other much more expensive property we were considering. The NYE party was an excellent value and an absolute blast; exactly what we were looking for. If you want to stay somewhere stodgy, go elsewhere. If you want to stay somewhere fun, stay here! HUGE thank you to this entire team! I hope to come back soon and bring the rest of the family!

From the arrival at the ground floor, Greg was exceptional with customer service and the wow moment he left at the room for Elizabeth to mark her very special birthday. Then the reception on the 1st floor were great. Then we had superb Spa session which was outstanding. Then later Peter at the reception was a great host making us feel so welcome and very special. Joshua the security was a total gentleman. Ines was simply amazing with the birthday breakfast and the rest of the breakfast team. George and Peter at the conceige in the morning were splendid with their aura and conversations. We surely will be revisiting many more times to come and the experience we had left us a mind blowing feeling. Music was bland and boring , just zero energy , I’m not expecting a Rave but something other than what was being played , certainly no energy to have another drink , sucks the life out the place . Quality of drinks were okay like average , no better than a Weather-spoons. Which brings me to value , 40gbp for a Tom Collins and an Espresso Martini , well was topped up to that as the service charge which I did not see until after was 4.50p for 2 drinks , no interaction with the bar-staff ( we sat at the bar ) like zero…taking from the staff not a word , made average drinks and that’s the service charge . Way way way overpriced like massive
