- Afzal (4/5): - Great location, nice rooms, but no access to windows or fresh air once in the room. AC almost impossible to control. Even turned off AC for 2 days, the room was still very cold. AT checking in, I was told the tourist tax is AED 20 per night, contradicting Expedia's confirmation. Reason being, the tax is based on number of stars and Avani is a 5* hotel. Not convinced about this but nevertheless, not worth revisiting for the reasons provided.

They smoke in the restaurant and bar. Room was spacious. Housekeeping was phenomenal. Metro nearby and lots of grocery stores and some good restaurants.

The room was also very good and always clean when we returned from our outings. The concierge was fantastic!! We had all our excursions leaving from the hotel via shuttle so no work on our part and very convenient!!! If we would ever get the chance to return to Dubai, Avani Deira Dubai Hotel will be our choice!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I didn’t like the fact that people were gathering just to smoke around the pool side. I felt uncomfortable and I had to give up using the pool for the rest of the stay.

Public areas (corridors) and particulary reception on some of the days I stayed (!) all smell of cigarette smoke. I was shocked you can even smoke at the pool. Gross. Suggestion - if you allow smoking in rooms, perhaps just designate 1 floor. It’s most uninviting for non-smokers and guests from countries where this isn’t the norm.

- DeeW (10/5): - Why doesn’t this hotel move to my home country so I can stay there all the time? At our arrival, the bellmen were consistently friendly from start to finish and all of our interactions with room service and housekeeping were wonderful as well. The Crown Jewels of this hotel however are the employees in the onsite restaurant. They are honestly the most friendly and consistently hospitable employees I have come across in a dining establishment ever! We had the fortune of eating in the restaurant daily for breakfast and upon the first day of having no soy milk option available, we thought we would have to trek to the grocery store nearby to search for some but there was no need. Once the staff learned of this dietary restriction, they provided the milk for us every time we dined without even having to ask! They also always came by to inquire if we were enjoying our time or needed anything else and never made us feel like a burden. Truly a 5 star experience and a gem located conveniently in old town Dubai away from noise and any sense of danger so much so that we felt comfortable walking the streets daily after our excursions. Thank you Avani Deira for providing me with an excellent experience for my visit to Dubai which will not be my last!

- Verified traveler (2/5): - This is my worst experience in a Dubai hotel ever. At check-in, I have arrived at the hotel at 6 AM from an 8 hours flight from Shanghai. I was so tired but the hotel refused to give me the room and wanted me to wait til 3 PM ! After a long argument for about half an hour with the hotel staff about this issue, I found out that they are making this big fuss only to charge me AED 120 ($32) more. I was only staying at this hotel for 8 hours transit time in Dubai and if I knew that I will be paying $32 extra, I would have chosen another hotel. I have traveled a lot, arrived at hotels many times before the scheduled check-in time. Have always been welcomed and given the room. This is the first time I had such an experience and it is very disappointing. As for room cleanliness, the room they gave me was supposed to be smoking-free. However, the smell of beddings was all tobacco. At checkout, the hotel refused to give me a checkout balance statement! This is also the first time I face such an issue with a hotel.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - We got upgraded to a suite which was fantastic. Very close to metro station. All staff very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I normally would stay at a different hotel, if I have a long layover in Dubai which I try to avoid if possible. I decided to try someplace different this time. I like the hotel the staff was friendly, the hotel was nice. I liked the buffet they offered for lunch and dinner, but to me it was a tad bit expensive, but I guess that the price is on par for Dubai. I thought the airport shuttle was expensive also but was convenient for the early morning hour I needed to be at the airport. I would stay here again and I would recommend to others.
