• ŠKRABAR Andrej (7/5): - Bližina železniške postaje, dobro izhodišče za raziskovanje bližnje in širše okolice. V sobi je bilo sicer slišati nekoliko hrupa iz železniške postaje. V sobi so bili na razpolago čepki za za ušesa, za zaščito pred hrupom. Osebje hotela je bilo prijazno in ustrežljivo. Ko v doglednem času (zvečer) niso mogli odpraviti napake na električni napeljavi v sobi, so mi ponudili selitev v drugo sobo (večjo sobo brez doplačila). Uslužbenka mi je tudi pomagala pri selitvi mojih stvari v drugo sobo. V hotelu ni ločenega prostora za recepcijo, ni posebnega vhoda. S prtljago se je potrebno "prebijati" med gosti, ki sedijo za mizami v gostilni. Prijava in odjava se opravi za točilnim pultom v gostilni, kar je zelo nerodno. V recepciji hotela, pri točilnem pultu v gostilni, uslužbenka ni znala povedati kje v bližini oziroma na sploh v Sydneyu se nahaja informativni center za turiste, Prav tako ni imela turističnega zemljevida Sydneya z označenimi turističnimi znamenitostmi, tudi ne zemljevida z vrisanimi linijami javnega prevoza. Predlagala je, da naj sam raziščem preko spletnih strani.

• Nikki (10/5): Convenient location and close to everything including the SCG - I arrived around 12pm earlier than my check in time thinking that I wouldn’t be able to check in until 2pm. My room was ready to check into at 12pm which is fantastic. The place is looking fantastic since renovations are taking place. The bed was incredibly comfortable. This is my go to place to stay at when I travel for the Sydney Swans matches. Absolutely love staying there and also love that it is cash only. I highly support this and will continue to stay regularly at the REH and support the business. See you in 3 weeks. Thanks guys. Nothing

There was a significant amount of noise and vibration from trams passing frequently on the street, making it difficult to sleep. The property is being renovated and there was a very strong odour from paint.

• Brown (1/5): The area was awful we didn’t even stay. - We booked this hotel online after a flight cancellation based off the pictures which looked promising, especially as I had children with me and they advertised a family suite. When we arrived it was immediately apparent that the area and hotel was completely unsuitable environment to have children in and it didn’t feel safe to stay there. We didn’t even leave the car but cancelled our booking and went elsewhere. Even our Uber driver thought it was an unsuitable situation. We tried to contact the property via booking.com and by email to discuss the cancellation and waving the fee because of the misrepresentation in their listing but they have not responded and booking.com have been very unhelpful with this issue either. I would avoid.

Directly across the street from Central Station, use Exit 6. Friendly and helpful staff. It was easy to check-in at the bar. Access code to enter the building and the room made everything smooth and easy to get in and out. I would stay there again when visiting Sydney. Highly recommended. Nothing to dislike. Double thumbs up.

Rooms with lots of space. A face washer would be nice. And a least rubbish emptied each day. The young woman who checked us in was quite surly, appeared disinterested and almost rude.

Downstairs and the interior hallways gave very old school Australian pub vibes with beautiful parquet floors and woodwork. Occasionally you could hear the sound of train brakes/whistles and people on the street at night in the room, but the trains passed pretty quickly and was remedied with ear plugs.

• Katie (3/5): We left after 10 mins - The staff were helpful, ear plugs on arrival, looked kinda like the pictured Maybe we got just unlucky with the room but it wasn’t obvious to us that you had to walk through a pub to get through, which for 2 young girls arriving at 8pm and there was a pub full of men trying to chat felt uncomfortable. When going into the “hotel” there was a dead cockroach squished on the floor. Lifts were tiny but that didn’t bother us. The gap under the door felt extremely unsafe, paired with the fact the doors were code only and not key cards/lockable from the inside. The gap under the door let noise come through everytime someone walked past and it was big enough to slip a phone under the door which was creepy. The noise outside we understood as we were right next to the station but to warn you, you can hear the pedestrian crossing noise loud and clear which I didn’t even know was that loud

I went for price, which was really good especially condsidering how late I left it to book. Being near central station was a bonus. Some of the other people staying in other rooms slammed their doors. And there was quite a strong turps?? smell. I know renovation is happening and can't be helped; where I slept was fine, but near the door it was strong.

• Bradden (6/5): I had an overnight stay at the conveniently located Royal Exhibition to attend an event in Sydney. - Royal Exhibition is very conveniently located opposite Central Railway Station. There are many amenities in easy walking distance. The room was comfortable and clean. The room was above Devonshire St which can be noisy at night with traffic lights changing and trams passing.

• Jade (4/5): Not a hotel - it’s a bar with accommodation. - Comfy bed • The bathroom window doesn’t lock so anyone from outside can get in • no toilet roll holder? • the desk chair’s leather was melting off everywhere - just throw it away?? • the listing is misleading as the accom is part of the exhibition hotel bar there’s no actual front desk or admin amenities or services • not ideal for young women travelling alone, the check in experience was mortifying in the middle of a bar • the manager lacked any kind of hospitality, recommendations or help really • wasted time and resources filling out the pre check in with I.D and credit card details when I still had to provide them (which caused a cause and effect having everything in the car still and needing a quick check in to find parking etc) • the 6am Reno’s were a bit rough - some signage or warnings in the lift and halls would have been appreciated / respected •absolutely no value in this booking for the cost

Early in the morning of both nights, 4:00 AM and 6:30 AM, there were really loud hammering and drilling sounds from main floor construction in the pub as they are doing renovations. Had to go down to complain and was not the only person who did so. I did not get to sleep well at all. The WiFi was also really spotty

Typical pub meals served. Very busy area but good. Code entry so no key to carry. Had pickup from the airport included. The jackhammer one morning as renovations are being done. The initial view of the pub on a rainy dark evening. No window to open for fresh air.
• maike (6/5): Keine Rezeption(Pub wird dafür genutzt).Zimmer gut & sauber.Lage gut. In Ordnung aber zu teuer. - Die Zimmerfotos & Buchungsinformationen stimmten mit dem Zimmer (im 2. Stock - der ist renoviert) überein. Zimmergröße & Badezimmer wie angeben. Außerdem ist die Lage sehr zentral an Surry Hills und direkt am Bahnhof gelegen. Personal war teilweise schwer zu finden, dann aber sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Auch mein Gepäck konnte ich sicher aufbewahren lassen(allerdings in einem viel zu vollen Elektronikraum.) In der Nacht war mein Zimmer ruhig. Aus der Buchung und mit den auf Booking vorhanden Fotos ging NICHT hervor, das das Hotel keine Rezeption hat, sondern den unten anliegenden Pub als solche nutzt. Ob diese Situation nur mit aktuellen Umbaumaßnahmen zu tun hat, kann ich nicht beurteilen. Ich hoffe es aber, denn einchecken im laufenden Pub-Betrieb am späteren Abend fand ich als Alleinreisende sehr unschön. Die Flure zum Zimmer sind etwas veraltet und muffig, aber akzeptabel. Fenster können nicht geöffnet werden wegen des festinstallierter Lärmschutz Glasscheibe vor dem Fenster. Die Luft war dadurch nicht super im Zimmer, aber die Klimaanlage konnte helfen. Umbaumaßnahmen begannen kurz vor 7 Uhr Morgens - Ausschlafen war wegen dem Gehämmer nicht möglich. Mein Code zum Zimmer und zur Hotel-Eingangstür ging am Morgen des CheckOut nicht mehr. Mir wurde geholfen, dennoch wirkte dies zzgl. zur Umbausituation und der fehlenden Rezeption irgendwie unprofessionell.

• Alex (5/5): Great location but oh so noisy from 4 am. - Location. Close to central station. Started construction work in bar below my room at 4.30 am. Banging away. Shoukd have guessed by ear plus in room. No advice of such significant work and noise

• Sean (9/5): Rooms and location in Sydney were great and met our needs perfectly. - Great location and newly renovated rooms. Perfect for our family. Accessing rooms via the pub area with kids.

• Jessica (6/5): Convenient and comfortable (don’t wxpect a sleep in though!), but watch the price hikes! It’s super expensive for a pub - Room was lovely and spacious. Beds very comfortable. Great location. There was construction noise from about 8am downstairs. We were bot advised that it was happening. Paid a very premium price midweek for a family room and noticed on most other nights it was $100+ cheaper. Check in at the bar by a surly teenager in front of the happy hour customers. Felt weird and wasn’t a warm greeting at all.
