Guest Reviews
- M9590UVraquelt (2/5): Hell on earth. - If you like mold and bad attitudes, a locker room coffee, this is your place. This could be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and after leaving they charged me for the entire stay and could have cared less about my experience. Barbaric death chamber. Stay away.
- 888amirahc (4/5): Read before booking: an honest review from a reasonable person - We booked through capital one travel months ago. We are young adults and didn’t want to spend a lot so we weren’t expecting anything nice! We stayed 4 nights at the Redford hotel and it wasn’t what we expected. First, we arrived early and checked if we could do an early check in (we were NOT excepting to be able to, we knew what time check in was.) they let us know at the front desk we could check in early for a $60 fee, which we skipped. When we came back for actual check in, the front desk asked for a credit card (again, this is normal). However, they then let me know I was being charged $70 for booking through a 3rd party site. When I asked about it I got a very short explanation that this was a $17 fee per night for not booking with them directly. We had never been told about this and certainly got no emails or any indication of future fees when we booked. This felt like false advertisement and was really unfair. We were put in a room on the first floor, and one of the nights a group of bar patrons came into the building (it was unlocked and there was no attendant at the desk) and they were extremely loud. They then started joking about stealing stuff and then went downstairs. My partner couldn’t sleep because he was worried they may try to enter our room. Luckily when we told the desk the next day they moved us upstairs. If you’re wondering how we heard what they were saying it’s because the walls in the entire building are paper thin. You can hear every single thing from the halls, streets, and other rooms to an extent I’ve never experience before. The rooms are tiny but we expected that for NY.
Just today when we were in the lobby a family came in asking to check in early and the front desk allowed them to with no fees.
I’m mostly upset about the false advertisement and additional charges we were never told about. If you are going to book here, which I recommend you don’t, do yourself a favor and call beforehand to ensure they will not charge you anything upon arrival.
The pros: the man at the front desk today that helped us check out was super nice. There is a coffee and water station downstairs.
I would love if the Redford made this right with me and refunded me the additional charges that we were never told about. Redford, if that sounds like something you’d like to do please reach out.
- Lisa (10/5): - It was such an amazing stay. It was in a great location. Found our new favorite hotel to stay at in the city.
- Andyrbb10 (10/5): A good hotel in an excellent location at a reasonable price. - The Redford is a small hotel in a great location in the Lower East Side. We had a room at the rear which was quiet in a very noisy NY. The rooms are small but adequate though two people moving around the room takes some coordination. The wifi is super fast but the air con is noisy and could be an issue if you needed it at night ( we had it on in the day only to cool the room for sleeping). The staff are lovely and very helpful. The room was spotlessly clean with good towels and linen. The tea/coffee station and microwave in the basement works well and they have a great roof terrace with good views of the Workd trade center. All in all, a great hotel at a good price.
- Lori (6/5): - People outside our room fought for over an hour and you could hear it all and when all other guests came back to their rooms you could hear all their conversations as if they were standing beside us in our room
- Joshua (10/5): - Stay was great and very accessible to everything.
- olivier (6/5): - Very good spot if you want to be close to SoHo for your shopping session and there’s a lot of good restaurants nearby. I really enjoyed my stay and the staff was friendly and welcoming
- Ariel (10/5): - Great location and great staff
- Julia (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, small room but plenty of space and very comfy bed and pillows. Rooftop was so nice!
- ALMA (2/5): - Horrible location, room was too tight
- Shellie (8/5): - The property was nice and quiet! We were there for the night and it was walkable distance of the places we wanted to go. Staff were very nice (especially the woman who allowed me to go back into the room to retrieve an item I left in the room). No bar soap for hand washing but they left double of shampoos, conditioners, body wash and lotion. I would recommend if you need to stay in the area.
- ania (2/5): - The leakage in our room caused all of our property to be drenched in water!!
- Steven (6/5): - Very basic. Clean bed and bathroom. Weird $15 fee when I arrived for coffee available that I would never use. I was on Floor 2 and there was a great deal of street noise.
- Aislin (10/5): - excellent, staff was incredibly nice, room was super clean and comfortable
- Johan (6/5): - staff was great internet not good at all
- Elisabeth (10/5): - Unique & convenient, thank you!
- johann von (6/5): - Their phones don’t work, so don’t expect to reach anyone at the front desk. I was there Wednesday through Friday and their phones were ‘down’ the whole time.
At times there is also no one at the front desk, so just wait and eventually someone will show up.
The magnetic cards stop working as soon as they are even near a phone, very inconvenient, especially when nobody is at the reception to recode the cards.
- paulbJ2834JO (10/5): Redford is the GOAT - New York City can be hectic. checking into a hotel and finding your way around can make it even worse. The Redford made everything seamless for us and even helped us get around. Love this place! Andy was very nice and treated us great. Highly recommend!
- madogbill (2/5): CREDIT CARD ILLEGALLY USED - I paid for a friends hotel room over the phone with my credit card.
My credit card company called me and said that an ApplePay site was initiated and right away money drawn, then a person bought groceries IN ENGLAND!!!!
My credit company cancelled my card and since my password was changed it is feared that the person at the desk or the manager (because he was directly involved) got my social security number because the person changed my password on the credit card! This is serious and causing a great deal of grief.
I am surprised to not see any bad reviews, I must be the first one to have this happen????
- Verified traveler (8/5): Recommend - Easy check in, comfortable bed & room. From the fourth floor, you could hear street noise, but it wasn’t bothersome to us. Staff were super friendly. Safe area.
- Chris (10/5): - My stay was excellent. I like the roof patio. Thank you!
- Ax********* (10/5): - Great!
- Kevin (10/5): - Spacious for NYC
- daniele (6/5): - There is no breakfast, the bedroom is super small, but bed is comfortable. The bathroom was clean.
The hotel is expensive for what they offer.
- mghilotti (10/5): Would recommend!! - Everyone was so kind — from
The late night receptionist to the later night reception person who lended me his personal charging cable
For some minutes and the morning registration person…who kindly helped me when I was lost in NYC when I called. I will be back (from France) to this comfortable and clean and kind hotel!
Thank you!
- mark (6/5): - Fun location with plenty to do closeby. No frills lodging. Friendly staff.
- Roxana (6/5): - Property was overall okay. The room was very small, it is two full size beds, not two queens. The bathroom was a decent size. Noisy in the night time especially Friday and Saturday. It is close to the bars which is a plus if you’re looking to go. Staff was really nice and helpful.
- 529captainc (8/5): Would stay again - This hotel is super cute and the staff is very friendly! We would absolutely stay here again.
There were a couple stains on the bedding, so it wasn't actually dirty, but it'd be nice if those were bleached out. Otherwise the room was very clean.
Warning that it's on a noisy street, but they provide earplugs, and presumably the rooms on the non-street side of the building are quieter.
- Lauren (6/5): - Great property if you're looking for the bare minimum in a perfect area. Definitely a mid-level hotel, I wouldn't bring my mom or grandma here, but great for a quick weekend with my BF, we hardly spent any time in there. Comfy bed!
- Bulit75 (10/5): Radford hotel stay - I enjoyed my stay very much, the staff were fantastic, including Andy, Suzanne, and the others. Would definitely stay there again, right next to some interesting places. The room was clean and had enough of the right amenities and they made us very welcome.
- Koomuatuk (4/5): - My room was unlocked, I notice I didn’t need a key to open my door
- Marley (10/5): - Had a great time. Good staff!
- Ciara (10/5): - Great stay in the LES
- Bianca (10/5): Great - Really comfortable and clean loved it !
- Alexander (6/5): - Great location.
- Tremain (2/5): - ZERO SPACE. If your booking a room for 4 highly reconsider this hotel. The photos are VERY deceiving!
- 865vja (10/5): Great Functional Hotel in Lower Manhattan! - Really great deal for the price and location, you are right in the middle of the lower east side and close to so many great places, and only a few steps from the train. It’s manhattan so space is cozy but the rooms our comfy, and the woman working the front desk at check in the as very friendly and helpful!
- maria jose (4/5): - The room is extremely small, not even the carry ons would fit
- Catherine (10/5): Great Spot! - We had a great time, very clean and friendly staff! We will stay again.
- Harmanpreet (8/5): - good
- Liana (10/5): - Good enough for NYC
- Reginald (10/5): - Amazing. Rooms were on point. Customer service was excellent. They keep bags free of charge and lock the front doors at 11 for security (you insert your room card to get in).
- Nicole (4/5): - The double room was very small where you need to move luggage around to access the bathroom. Would not recommend for more than 2 people. The shower tap was upside down which meant you either had boiling hot or cold water, no warm water. There was a constant banging noise coming from the bathroom.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, the neighbourhood is very cool with lots of food options.
- Rachael (10/5): Great place - The hotel was perfect. Perfect location for exploring soho and little Italy. Close to Brooklyn and the Brooklyn bridge. The hotel was clean and updated and the staff was super friendly. Would 100% stay again.
- Daniela (10/5): - The staff was extremely friendly. The hotel was clean and quiet. Will definitely stay here again!
- Marina (10/5): - This a great place to stay without breaking the bank. The subway is just a couple of blocks away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Perfectly comfortable if small room in a great NYC location. Clean and very friendly staff. Will stay here again.
- Toby (8/5): - Staff was excellent and very helpful. The rooms are very small, but that's not a surprise for NYC. Lots of good food options very close.
Be warned though, read the hotel policies in advance. There is no after hours check in.
- Heather (10/5): - Easy access to subway.
- Michell (8/5): - Location! Location! Great place to stay, you’re close to the subway, food, coffee and shops. The hotel is good, has everything you could need if you don’t plan to be there a lot. The rooms are pretty small and old but it was perfect for our quick weekend trip. We only came back to sleep and left early in the morning each day! Would recommend!
- Eiron (2/5): - Avoid this hotel at all costs—terrible experience from start to finish.
This was hands down the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. Upon arrival, I was given a room on the main floor with paper-thin walls. I could hear every check-in conversation and every complaint made at the front desk. When I asked to be moved, the night staff claimed the hotel was sold out and offered me earplugs as a solution.
The next morning, I spoke with a different front desk agent who assured me they would move me to a room upstairs. I left my bags with them for the day, expecting a resolution. When I returned that evening, I encountered the same staff member from the night before, who informed me that not only was I not moved but I had also been checked out entirely.
To make matters worse, they were using my room to store luggage for a large, noisy group that was crowded into the tiny lobby. After some confusion, the staff realized there was an available room upstairs after all, and I was moved. They offered to waive the $15-per-night facility fee (on top of the $400 per night I was paying) as compensation, which felt like a slap in the face.
The nightmare didn’t end there. My new room was plagued by loud, repetitive banging all night, which sounded like pipes hitting against each other. Needless to say, I got no sleep.
To top it off, I never received an emailed receipt upon checkout, and the hotel’s photos online are heavily edited—the rooms look nothing like the
- James (4/5): - Staff unable to get heat working in December!
- João (10/5): - Nice place to stay in Manhattan!
next to a parking garage, good Restaurants near by and There is a Metro Station right there turning the corner
- ekaterina (8/5): - Overall stay was good, staff is friendly and helpful. Only thing I didnt like is the size of the room. We had 3 ppl and a lot of baggage and we could barely fit everything in that room.
- Paola (10/5): - I’ll definitely back again
- Sangwook (6/5): - Room is very small.
No refrigerator in the room.
Additional fee $17 for facilities per night.
Staff is kind.
Microwave is in the basement.
Ourside is very noisy.
- John (2/5): Don’t stay here. False advertising. - This hotel is false advertising.
I would like to start by saying the hotel staff were very nice and the hotel was mostly clean.
The pictures of the hotel show rooms that are much larger and in better condition than the room we had. We were in room 102.
There were so many things wrong with the room that I can’t include them all in this review. The peep hole in the door was broken and had tissue shoved in it. The noise from the front desk and the elevator made sleep difficult. There was no space for luggage. There was no place to hang close. The faucet in the bathroom was loose. There was no toilet lid, so when you flush the room gets sprinkled… ew. The sink has no counter space so any thing you try to place one the sink may fall into the toilet. Shower curtain instead of a door. The latch on the window to the courtyard was broken this seem unsafe on the ground floor. The tv cords looked like a blind person installed them.
One outlet cover was broken and another was covered in tape… oh I tried to iron a shirt and the iron was covered in some black goo. I was irony a white shirt to go to a broadway show.
The front desk had to replace the iron. The ironing board is a table top ironing board but there is no table so I had to use the bed. There is no space for two people in the room. When one person was walking the other had to be on the bed. The bed is crammed in the corner. If you are the person closest to the wall you have to craw over the other person to go to the bathroom.
- Nicole (10/5): - It was my first trip to NYC and this hotel did not disappoint. It was small but clean and the four of us were able to share the space comfortably. The hotel has great cafes around it and is very close to the subway station. The view from the terrace at the top of the hotel has amazing views of the city. The staff was very welcoming and helpful! I would highly recommend this hotel!
- Cecilia (8/5): - It’s in an area with a lot of night life and good restaurants. The staff were friendly and attentive.
- Anay (10/5): - I chose this hotel because it was in a perfect location to where I wanted to be at. Nice staff. The floor we were on had only two rooms which felt safe and comfortable. I had 0 noise issues. Slept great at night. Only thing I noticed, there water damage on doors. Some furniture had missing knobs on the drawers and picture frames glass was broken. Room was definitely small but was not an issue for my friend and I. We only were in the room to sleep and freshen up for our time there.
- James (6/5): - Lots of street noise overnight making it difficult to sleep.
- Kimberly (6/5): - This is a great find for someone looking for a modest and comfortable place to sleep. Rooms are small but clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. The area around this place is quite lively, lots of bars and nightclubs. Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Overall would recommend for someone on a budget.
- Peter (8/5): - Everything was OK.
- Rhonnika (8/5): - I was very happy with my stay at The Redford Hotel. It's a cute, stylish boutique hotel with great customer service. The room was super small (not too surprising for NYC hotels, though) but clean. As an interior designer, I give it two👍!
- Heather (8/5): - Stayed very quickly. The room was a bit dingy, but did the job. For the price and location, though.... What do you expect? Not the Ritz, but worked.
- Jessica (8/5): - Front desk receptionist was very pleasant. She was very helpful when we needed directions or just had random questions about food or things to do!
We had no shampoo in the room, there was an ironing board but no iron. Room was quiet, beds were comfortable and shower was great! They have complimentary coffee and some snacks in the basement level.
Very close to a subway station and is next to Bel Fries, which is worth stopping at for a late night snack or lunch! Be ready for a wait :)
Overall, I would book here again!
- Javier (10/5): - Qq
- Keary (10/5): - Grest
- Yvette (8/5): - Friendly staff, very accommodating, nice little terrace included. Very nice and tidy room with cleaning service daily!
- Iskander (8/5): - Fairly good location - two blocks away from Katz's Delicatessen. Some clubs are nearby, so the area is busy even in the evening. Our room was on the ground floor, so it was rather noisy. The bathroom was accessible (we didn't need this type of accomodations), so you need to ask for extra towels to make a barrier for water, otherwise when showering the water flows to the room floor.
Nice view of the city from the patio on the 6th floor (I only found out about it by chance).
No breakfast, but they have a good coffee downstairs and some selection of tea bags.
- Alexander (2/5): - .
- Shimoli (2/5): - The shower handle fell off first night we were there , the area in the bathroom was dirty , very tiny rooms
- Merari (8/5): - Shower was interesting
- Lindsay (10/5): Would stay again - Perfectly adequate boutique hotel in heart of LES. No frills.
- Clark (8/5): - Great location in the LES
- Anne (4/5): - Overall the room was clean and furniture was in good shape, but the lack of space made it impossible to get comfortable. Only one person could walk around at a time due to the lack of space between the beds and wall. There was no closet, no counter space, lack of outlets, no place to store suitcase, and the floors were not clean. Hairs on the bathroom floor. The air conditioning was a wall unit. Hard to ever get the temperature right and always felt damp. Strangely there were only sheets on the bed. We had to request a comforter/top blanket. There also was no hair dryer, had to request that as well. Just lots missing and no space, but I loved the location.
- Katharina (6/5): - Good Location! pretty small tho
- Matthew (2/5): - Canceled reservation without any advance warning
- Michael (10/5): - I’m glad I didn’t trust other reviews I tried myself, I like this place!
- Daniel (10/5): - Amazing beds! Updated bathrooms!
- Angela (8/5): Very Nice staff - The staff was very Nice and very helpfull but the room was so tiny for 4 persons and luggages.
- 941teresital (10/5): Clean Hotel with wonderful staff - It is centrally located and close to the places I want to see.
Kudos to Mayette Roberts who helped us tremendously, the front desk personnel, the security guard, and the cheerful housekeepers.
For sure we will be back.
I will tell my friends and family members about our New York City experience.
- Sonnie (8/5): - This was a good place to stay for convenience, and in a nice enough area although it was a little noisy. It was clean and private and the staff were nice. It did say bottled water and in room coffee on the booking but neither of those were provided.
- Arely (2/5): - We were informed on our second day of our five day trip that the property was closing down and we had less than 24 hours to check out
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Honestly for what we needed it served it’s purpose. Small but functional bathroom and bedroom. Biggest problem was single pane windows. It sounds like the window was wide open all night. It’s a vibrant community, with heavy Summer season construction. Being so close to excellent restaurants and bars is a draw for us. We were prepared for a bit of noise. We live in downtown Toronto and are used to a similar neighbourhood experience. That being said we woke up every morning at 630am to noisy construction, and you could hear conversations at street level from 5 floors up. Nice Reno to the interior. Replacing the windows would go miles for improving experience.
- jennifersS2945FS (6/5): A convenient hotel - The Redford hotel has a lot of pros. The room was very clean, the bed was comfy, the staff were always friendly and helpful in reception and the basement space with coffee machine and filtered water machine was a great addition. Unfortunately though there is a con, the hotel is on a street with a number of bars. The hotel rooms do not have windows that block out the noise which continues well into the early hours. Better windows or installing secondary glazing would make sleeping much easier at this hotel.
- BrittanyD17 (8/5): Great stay for a quick trip - We stayed for 4 days/ nights. 4 sisters. Room was small but very clean. Great service from the front desk to housekeeping services. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. No microwave or fridge but front desk did offer to microwave anything we needed. Great communication and easy check in/checkout. Terrace was a nice touch. Great place to take some food and have a meal.
Great area to stay in. Always felt safe and close to the subway. Would definitely stay here again!
- Kevin (6/5): - In a party district
Loud
The Marijuana filled the air
- bradleybeahen (10/5): Ideal little spot stay on the Lower East Side - We loved our stay here over the past 5 days! When we stay in NY, we don’t seek out bells and whistles, as we really only plan on using the room to recharge, shower, sleep…and then repeat the next day. Redford was perfect for that. It’s only a few blocks from the F train, which quickly connects you to the rest of Manhattan and the Burroughs within a few stops. Staff was super friendly. Beds were super cozy. Rooms were clean and well maintained. We even got a cute apology note when they didn’t make our bed one day because we had left our suitcase in the middle of it. (They have a policy of not touching or moving the guests personal belongings.). The 7th floor “rooftop” space was a super relaxing way to take in the city over morning coffee, or evening coffee. ☺️. We’ll definitely use this hotel or one of their other affiliates on our next trip!
- sabrinatX7816TI (10/5): Clean, safe, convenient, and reasonably priced! - We had a wonderful stay at the Redford! My partner and I were looking for a clean and safe hotel at a reasonable price in NYC and that is exactly what we got! The hotel staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and they were always available. Check in and check out were easy and they even stored our luggage for us for a few hours before check in so we could explore the city. The rooms are small, but that was not unexpected for a reasonably priced hotel in a fantastic location in NYC. My partner and I were easily able to make the room work for four nights. We enjoyed the many cafes, shops, and convenience stores around us and generally had a lovely time. I would recommend staying at the Redford if you are looking for a clean, safe, convenient, and reasonably priced hotel in NYC.
- saradV9166OC (8/5): Great business travel hotel - True to the photos - Clean, bright room, super comfy bed and perfect size room for a business/city trip. Nothing fancy but perfectly functional and restful space after a day at work. Not a lot of space for clothes etc but I asked for more hangers and was fine!
Great location for LES, Soho. Lots of good choices of restaurants nearby whether you want something more formal or a quick and easy dinner.
Cannot fault the service at reception, best bit of the whole stay for sure. The whole team were lovely and helpful with any questions or requests.
- kevinhS8455CY (10/5): Lower East Side Gem - Hotel was great! Staff was very friendly and lots of good food nearby. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only issue was the ice machine was broken the whole time but we still highly recommend.
- Annemiekev143 (8/5): Value for money, comfortable room, great location - Value for money in a great neighbourhood. The rooms are quite small but smartly decorated. Bathroom quite big. Bed was comfortable. The hotel is basic, no lounge or breakfast room, but you do not need this in Lower East side as there are many options around the hotel. Go to Russ&Daughters for an exceptional tasty breakfast. Free tea and water in the basement. Special thanks to Cinthya, the receptionist who greeted us every day with a smile. She was very helpful and friendly. Definitely will book again.
- hanorak (10/5): Location is amazing, rooms are clean and staff are amazing. - The rooms are small but clean and decorated really nicely.
Location is amazing with a tonne of restaurants and bars on the street and in the area.
Cynthia from the front desk was absolutely amazing and went out of her way to ensure our stay was special. She was so thoughtful and helpful throughout our whole stay.
- Tia (8/5): - Smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in but that’s to expected in New York. Staff was friendly and helpful and great location for food!
- Neil (10/5): Convenient short break location - Very conveniently located close to Delancey/Essex St Subway station (handy for travel from JFK) and roughly midway between the Empire State Building and the Battery, making most sites of the city within walkable distance for those who like to explore on foot. The hotel staff were very friendly and the condition of the building fine, if the corridors were a little spartan and the metal bathroom shelf a little institutional. There is even a pleasant roof terrace though the view from it was hardly spectacular. In any case, this is not a hotel in which to linger because it is surrounded with life. The bed was very comfortable indeed and the selection of tv channels better than in many hotels, though the thin curtain/blind did not block as much light as might be desired and the room featured neither a hairdryer nor any tea/coffee making facilities. The neighbourhood is lively at night, but this did not disturb me in the room. All in all, I felt this was a good value hotel by NYC standards and would certainly consider staying again if on my own, though if treating a partner I might seek a few more frills.
- Karla (10/5): - Cinthya at the front desk was amazing. The room was great for two days. Could use some light maintenance, and more counter space in the bathroom, but otherwise a great hotel and location. Only big drawback for us was the *smell* (you know which one I’m talking about), but we looked past it. Would absolutely return and recommend.
- Curiosity563626 (4/5): Dirty room and no response from management. - I was very disappointed with my day. The sheets on my bed early had not been changed as they had both human hair and dog hair. Eyelashes on the pillows, the bedside tables were sticky from the last resident’s meal. My bathroom floor was dirty, and my bathmat had a big clump of black hair from the previous person. I nicely told the front desk attendant the next morning when I realized in the daylight, how dirty the room was and she said she would send housekeeping, but they never came. When I told her that I wanted a refund because I was stuck there for another night she told me she would have to talk to the manager. I have yet to hear anything. I travel to this neighborhood often to visit my son, but I will never stay here again.
- 557melinaf (10/5): Awesome front desk service - Cinthya at the front desk was so helpful! We had a problem with the external booking site and she was able to call them and fix the issue so quickly. We were so glad she was there to assist us and have everything run smoothly. Thank you!
- michellerA8181NV (10/5): excellent customer service - Cinthya at front desk gave us the most excellent customer service. We had an issue with checking in on the booking side. She went above and beyond to facilitate checking it as fast as possible. After a long flight it was highly appreciated! Thank you for all your attention.
