Guest Reviews
- Nadia (9/5): - Check in troppo tardi
- Sightseer43805250396 (10/5): Prague family break - I would highly recommend the King Charles Hotel. First class service from all of the staff. We were looked after very well and also had use of lounge for our family (10 adults) get together. Lovely large rooms with plenty storage. Good selection of hot and cold items for buffet breakfast. The hotel is on a hill near the castle, but don't let that put you off. An easy walk down to the main town and cheap taxis available for going back up. Definitely recommend staying here.
- Monika (9/5): - Świetna lokalizacja. Bardzo ciekawy antyczny wystrój. Miła obsługa. Polecamy. Malutka winda.
- Pysko (9/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Stunning hotel - Just a beautiful traditional building. Gorgeous stained glass windows
Prosecco on arrival
Very friendly helpful staff.
Huge room.
My only complaint is I needed longer there ! Perhaps offer decaff coffee or tea at breakfast a very very minor thing though
- Stephane (7/5): - Décoration
- Jorma (9/5): Kiva rauhallinen hotelli -

- Jan (9/5): - lokalita hotel už má své nejlepší roky za sebou
- clar372 (10/5): Clean, Friendly, Good location - Stayed 3 nights, great location. Clean, friendly helpful staff. We arrived early they stored our baggage so we could walk around and see the city before check in. It is on a big hill but just about everything is within walking distance.
- H7172SSmelissab (10/5): Historic Decor - Booked a superior room through easyJet holidays for me and my husband as it is very reasonably priced on their website. Pleasantly surprised by the spacious room. It is absolutely brilliant for history lovers as the decor takes you back in time.
The staff were always really helpful to us.
We requested that our room be made up each day by hanging the door handle request outside our room, and the household staff did a splendid job.
If returning from town, I recommend catching the tram 22 to Proholec as it is a gentle walk down rather than climbing the steep hill.
If you turn left from the hotel and up the sloping hill, you will find yourself in the castle grounds rather than climbing the hundred steps which you would do from lower down the hill.
There is a lift in the hotel but not suitable as wheelchair accessible as it is a narrow lift.
We absolutely loved our stay here. I'm not a big fan of breakfast and usually just have a coffee, but I saw a wide selection in the mornings in the cosy breakfast room. If we return to Prague, we would return to this hotel and splash out on a junior suite, although the superior room was more than spacious for us two.

- Inge (8/5): Wunderbar! -
- Olaf (8/5): -
- Zuzana (9/5): -

- Alan (9/5): - Friendly staff, beautiful room very clean
- N785WBkevinm (10/5): 3 day city break - Fantastic hotel great staff that are always happy to help, would recommend to anyone, hotel in a quite location.
- Venskiy (10/5): Perfect stay in Prague. - Great location, close to Prazsky Hrad, Strahov Monastery (beer lovers must go there, One Last Beer is impossibleto compare to any other beer), Petrin Tower and Old Town Square. Few nice restaurants nearby. The hotel itself is a piece of art, with charming staircases, stein glass windows, beautiful paintings on the walls. Special thank you to welcoming and supporting staff, accommodating all your needs. Nothing really to say.
- J5046UPmartinf (10/5): King Charles - This was 2nd time staying at the king Charles hotel and thankfully nothing had changed, one of the best small hotels I have stayed in. Nice clean and warm rooms, great shower. All staff are very pleasant and helpful
- andrewwZ5025CF (10/5): Lovely Bohemian feel - What a lovely hotel this is, you walk into reception and feel like you're going back into the history of Prague. The decor is exquisite and the hotel is spotless and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Our room was at the rear on floor three looking out to the steps up to the castle 🏰 The room was bigger than you expect due to the hotel being in an old building and it was lovely, great decor and furniture, bed was really comfortable. Bathroom was large but shower cubicle was a little on the small side but it was a really good shower 🚿 Room could probably do with some hooks for hanging coats and a few more hangers in the wardrobe, seeing as how much room there was in it.
Breakfast was lovely, lots of different choices and a pleasant change from the full English type cuisine. Nice to sample more local types of food.
Really good location for all the sights and a tram stop close by either up or down the hill.
Would definitely stay here again.
- Diego (10/5): -
- Jeremy (9/5): Lovely boutique hotel in Prague. - This is a lovely small hotel close to Prague Castle. Our room was very big and full of original features that made it different from any other hotel I have stayed in. The staff all very friendly and professional and the breakfast was delicious. I would stay here again. Only thing to mention is the hotel is up quite a steep hill so potential guests who cannot cope with this would need to book a taxi to return each day after a busy day seeing Prague’s amazing sights.
- eric (9/5): Prague March 2026 - The hotel was excellent. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean. The staff were really helpful and friendly.and couldn't do enough for us. Up quite a hill next to the castle but compensated by great views nearby.
- Francesco Ivan (9/5): - Middle age charm
- Anthony (9/5): Very good. - Location is exceptional, staff was pretty nice and professional. Didn't really have a nice room pick compared to pictures. Not a big deal but a bit disappointed.
- Manfred (8/5): -
- Lara-Faye (10/5): - The hotel is beautiful and in a perfect historic location. The staff are all very attentive and pleasant.
- Pavla (10/5): Za nás super moc děkujeme a doporučujeme - Všechno Všechno hezky útulný prostor krásný výhled
- Romina (9/5): -
- Martin (9/5): -
- VICTOR (9/5): Muy recomendable. - Decoración, desayuno y espacio de la habitación.
- M. (7/5): A lot of room for improvement - Location
Staff
Breakfast The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired.
No attention to detail as one would expect from a 4* hotel. The coffee/tea-making facilities were a bit dismal for a ‘Superior’ room. The non-matching teaspoons have never met dish soap. The cups were put back badly washed (in the bathroom sink, one presumes).
- petesN2210EK (10/5): Loving Prague and the King Charles - Prague is fantastic and the King Charles reflects it. The rooms and common areas are old world gorgeous. For example, the wooden beams on the ceiling in our room were painted with a really nice design. The breakfast is also extremely nice, as are the staff. Check out the wall murals in the breakfast room!
- Martina (10/5): - Naprosto jedinečné prostředí. Jako na zámku. Romantika.
- Climber07556137966 (10/5): Very happy - Amazing- the hotel is beautiful and that is what first captivated me. When I got there I felt welcome and happy. There is a good selection for breakfast and breathtaking decor.

- Landbrecht (8/5): -
- Adam (9/5): -
- Rosa (5/5): - Cama cómoda y ubicación El desayuno
- David (8/5): - Good location; short walk down to tram stops, Charles Bridge and very close to Prague Castle main entrance. Spacious, comfortable rooms. Bathrooms a little old, however not too bad.
- 395zoeo (10/5): Just lovely! - My room (just a superior room) was the prettiest room I've ever had in a hotel. The staff were all lovely, and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. I stayed for my birthday, and the staff noticed and on my birthday morning they made me a special breakfast. I felt like a princess! Just an all round lovely experience
- Eva (9/5): - Tepla izba v studenom pocasi (izba 302). Mily personal. Chutne ranajky. Vyborna poloha. Trochu makke postele na moj vkus
- worldaintbigenough88 (8/5): Lovely hotel but poor customer service - Lovely old world hotel in a nice quiet part of town. Rooms were clean, due to the old nature of the building we did find our room quite noisy at times. We upgraded to the junior suite and I kind of wish we hadn’t as it was above reception. Breakfast was nice.
The only reason for the four stars was the incredibly unfriendly staff. We felt really quite unwanted. The receptionist could barely speak to us. When we came down for breakfast no one told us how it worked etc, so we just started making our own coffee. The young chef was quite pleasant and offered fresher eggs etc.
This hotel could be perfect but the staff really let it down in my opinion. It doesn’t take much to say hello and goodbye. One evening we dropped the key at reception and she didn’t even look up to acknowledge us.
- T5280OXpaulah (10/5): Love, love, love! - Stayed here for 4 nights with my husband and loved every minute. We had never been to Prague, so we were unsure where to book. But the location could not have been better! 2 minute walk to the castle, stunning restaurants and bars on the door step and only 10 min walk to Charles Bridge.
Out room was gorgeous! Lovely wooden painted ceilings, stain glass windows (that looked onto the castle grounds) and classic romantic furniture. Not to mention it was massive!
The breakfast was lovely, so many choices, daily fresh bread and pastries, with a good selection of everything else.
- Lenka (9/5): -
- Helen (9/5): - Sited close to Prague Castle, quiet location, decor and furnishings unusual and fun. No complaints
- Zuzana (10/5): - Výborná lokalita, veľmi pekný a príjemný hotel
- Maria (10/5): -
- ALVARO (9/5): -
- Melanie (9/5): Personal Super, Zimmer OK, Manager Freundlich, Mitarbeiter zeigen Familiären Flair - Die Ausstattung im Viktorianischen Flair
Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Mitarbeiter
ausreichendes und abwechslungsreiches Frühstücksbuffet. Immer frisch aufgetischt.
- EVE (10/5): -
- umbertof460 (10/5): A Gem in Prague - The staff was lovely and available at all times, the room was cozy, comfortable, quiet and warm, the building in general was beautiful, clean and tasteful, the lift had really chill music.
In the morning we had a really good tasty breakfast served in a rich buffet.
In the end it was a great stay in a magical city.
- L8996LCsimonm (10/5): King Charles - We have been here twice now and each time the stay is amazing, staff very helpful and the rooms are spectacular.close to city centre and also great value for money.
- Kop (8/5): - Nicely decorated hotel, a good location near the castle, but the rooms are rather dated, especially the bathrooms. Bathtub was not cleaned by the roomservice (the rest of the bathroom was)
- Jan (10/5): -
- A (7/5): -
- MarkandHeidionTour (10/5): I'd give this 6 stars if I could - We absolutely loved this hotel, it is beautiful. We booked a junior suite with a fireplace, and were blown away with our rooms.
On entering there was a large area with wardrobes, one of which contained an ensuite kitchen!!!. The very large bathroom had a bath/shower. The vast bedroom had a queen sized bed, a desk and chair, a table, a sofa, 2 chaise longue type chairs and a large fireplace.
The staff at the King Charles are excellent, very friendly and very helpful. The whole place was spotlessly clean.
The hotel is situated very close to the castle but on a quiet street. It was a 10/15 minute walk to Charles bridge, but a bit longer on the walk back, due to the fairly steep road. I would caution anyone with mobility issues against staying here.
There are a lot of restaurants in the area
Just a note of caution, do not use the mini market across the road from the hotel, very dishonest.

- u_isc2023 (10/5): Real Royal Retro - Very nice and cute hotel, Real Royal Retro - there is the good old hotel style, where you are given a key with a heavy pendant, which you have to leave with the attendant when you leave and he/she always greets you with a smile when you arrive (it is much more pleasant than with modern plastic cards). Very spacious rooms with lounge chairs and a sofa, very comfortable beds. Kind and helpful staff. Rich breakfast with a very wide choice, including savory dishes and Czech origin sparkling wine.
Many nice places in Prague nearby: the Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, Strahov Monastery, many restaurants and beer pubs all around.
My recommendation for arriving from the Airport: take bus 191 to Vypich, then tram 22 to Pohorzelec and down the hill to the hotel. Back to the airport, down the hill again, but to Malostranska namesti, one stop by tram, to the Green metro line with it to Nadrazi Valeslavin and trolleybus 59 to Airport.

- Jillyandkids (10/5): Beautiful hotel in a perfect location - This hotel is beautiful with many original features throughout including the rooms, which have modern facilities in the large bathrooms. The ambience is perfect at the end of a busy day seeing some of the many sights of Prague. The location is perfect, it is literally minutes from the castle entrance, a short walk from the new town, a little bit further to Charles Bridge and the old town. Yes it is on a steep hill and could be difficult for anybody reliant on a wheelchair or with severe walking difficulties, but it's worth the effort of every step. Because of its siting it is so quiet at night, we had our windows (stained glass) open every night even though it was December as the room was so warm, it was so peaceful. We were on the top floor but there is a lift, because of the small numbers of rooms it was always available, and the advantage of being on the top floor was that looking down over the landing down below was stunning. Breakfast was in a small dining area, on one occasion we had to eat in the reception area as it was full but that was just as pleasant. There was plenty of choice for breakfast, you never left the hotel hungry.
If we ever return to Prague I would choose this hotel again for its location, cleanliness, and value for money, there really are no negatives.
- Ellena75 (10/5): - Location,breakfast wow,staff siper friendly,room incredible comfortable and lovely old style decor,highly recommend!
Everything fantastic!!!
- NeilHedges (10/5): Would recommend, very good value - Beautiful hotel, nice location, very reasonably priced, rooms clean and breakfast and coffee very good. Would recommend to a friend
- Bernd (7/5): -
- Anthea (9/5): Loved the hotel and the decor, very fitting with the area and Prague architecture. Brilliant location. - The hotel is stunning with painted ceilings and beautiful staircase and architecture, room is spacious and beds are comfy. It was very clean and well kept. Breakfast was excellent everything you would want. Location is great very near the castle and we walked everywhere to get to the old town. The lift was not great and doors wouldn’t open so it goes back down to the ground floor and back up again.
- Anna (8/5): Fine but won’t repeat - It’s pretty authentic with all the design but does look better on the photos than in reality. The bathroom needs renovation, the bathroom window goes inside the hall and it’s really strange. They left us a gift with two snaps shots but it’s strange that it was just poured in the glass, pretty odd. The floors were dirty.

- Alexius_85 (10/5): BEAUTIFUL HISTORICAL STRUCTURE - I traveled to Prague with my wife, Flavia.
A historic building very close to the Castle.
Beautiful and charming palace, very clean and well-maintained.
Even though we don't speak English very well, the staff was always kind and helpful, offering helpful information, including where to eat.
Our room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom large. The temperature was very pleasant (even though it was cold outside).
A delicious breakfast, both savory and sweet, with an excellent selection and good products.
We recommend it!!!
Greetings from Italy and Tuscany,
Alessio and Flavia.
- juliebX7627ME (10/5): Beautiful Hotel, - I would highly recommend this hotel. It has beautiful architecture, but felt very homely. It is very beautiful inside with highly decorated walls & stained glass windows, which continues into the hallways and bedrooms.
The bedrooms are a very good size, lovely & warm and cleaned daily. The bathrooms are a good size with everything you were would expect.
The Breakfasts are amazing, Buffet style with both hot & cold food and some very delicious pastries.
A big Thank you to the staff. who are so helpful and worked so hard to make out stay enjoyable.
Just one word of warning. The hotel is near to the castle and so it is on quite a steep incline. It is do-able but as the street and pathways are cobbled and the road is narrow anyone with mobility issues would probably struggle. Other than that I would definitely recommend and Thank you again to the staff for making our time spent with you so very enjoyable.
- Edward (5/5): I could write so much more, so I put it in a photo/text review. - The water pressure in the shower was good when the shower worked. The location was quiet and accessible via taxis. The continental breakfast was perfectly fine. The bed was firm, comfortable, clean sheets, the room was generally quite clean. The staff were generally pleasant. I'm doing a review in a photo as its not enough to write here, see photos.
There is a list, I highlighted some to hotel staff, I stopped as it wasn't being solved anyway. I took photos, I also took video of the flickering lights issue which made us feel like we were having a seizure & uncomfortable.
The hotel advertised services it just doesn't have, the standards are NOT there for a hotel of its advertised caliber. It is a nice, historic hotel, that alone does not 'sell' a guest nor improve the experience if basics are not met. I'm going to list items in order of severity.
1A) The towels. I cannot understate how unimpressed we were at the lack of condition of the towels. On the 2nd day, we were left only a single large towel between 2 guests. I went to the front desk, who claimed there was "only 1 size of towel per room", he handed me a hand towel which was torn and ripped. I asked for the larger size, this was the only size he had to offer me. Lets be clear, there are larger towels stocked in the rooms, hand towel and bathmat for the shower. I was given a hand towel.
2B) The Towels, Again, but worse! On the 3rd day we were given the most disgusting towels. It was immediately seen there were 'Brown spots' (clear feces wipes). These were not our original towels simply rehung. We used the torn hand towels between us.
3) The Flickering lights. 3x Dimmer switches in room, 2 missing their knobs/dials, turned up to max, Lights flickered so often we ended up not using the main lights at all.
4) The mini-bar is non existent. Mini fridge in the room, empty, useless. Should be stocked in-room. You have to call the front desk, order what you want to be delivered in 15 mins or less. That is "room service" not a minibar. Having called without answer, I went down to the lobby. unmanned at the time, most of the time I did see someone, but the appeal of something in the room & not available, was lost.
- ALISON1974-38 (10/5): Stunning hotel with fabulous staff, I certainly would recommend. - We stayed here for a four day break to see the city and the Christmas market. The hotel is about a twenty minute walk to the new town. The suites were stunning, all the staff we met were friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble and professional at all times. The breakfast was probably one of the best for selection that i have had. Full cooked breakfast, cheeses meats, yogurt and fruit, and cereal. It was in an ideal location to see the old and the new town. Highly recommended and thank you to all the lovely staff for helping make a memorable trip away.
