Guest Reviews
- Laura (6/5): - Room, clean comfy good shower. Hotel was quite tired in need of dome DIY
- Gamer (10/5): -
- Alex (7/5): Handy for a short stay and relatively comfortable. - Location is great. There is a lot of wear and tear. In a couple places it didn’t smell great. No air conditioning in the rooms. Shower is small. Keypad to get back in didn’t work.
- Ana Maria (5/5): -
- Cubo (6/5): - La ubicación Las paredes parecen de papel
- Marek (8/5): -
- Hossny (5/5): Poor - Very old carbet very old no left mattress not comfortable at all
- Eszter (8/5): - Double duvets on the double beds instead of single duvets.
- Kaan Mert (7/5): -
- Denise (5/5): Adequate - No breakfast Scruffy carpets taped up. Dirty windows. Rotten window frame. Cracked window pane. Looked out on to a very dirty yard.
- Ekaterina (7/5): Good value for money if you need 1-3 nights in a central London - Perfect location. Good value for money. Beds are super comfortable. The building is very tired. Ripped carpets on the floors, everything is old. But the place is very cheap, so who cares, really.
- Naji (1/5): Terrible - Dirty smellyyyyyy
- Beau (9/5): Impossible to beat price and central location. - I messed up my booking and it was over a day before I was expecting to check out. I got a message from the hotel that they had attempted to clean my room and found that I still had stuff everywhere. This was obviously embarassing, but they were able to give me a room for the extra night to finish my trip and they could not have been nicer about my blunder and helping me fix it rather than leaving me looking for a room on no notice. They also were happy to check me in comparatively early, and several other reviews acknowledge how accommodating the staff are.
The hotel is a little rough around the edges (there's duct tape on the stairs, for example), but they seem to be in the process of rennovating and/or upgrading. For the value and the location, it is impossible to beat. However, the desk space was limited in the two rooms I stayed in, so if you're in town for business and plan to work a lot in your room, there are co-working spaces and libraries within walking distance and they might serve as better options. Otherwise, absolutely recommended.
Just FYI, Google Maps says they offer breakfast, but they do not. My only caveat is lack of climate control. At the end of April, even a relatively mild day meant a stuffy room if I left the curtains open or didn't leave the window open. The rooms do have small fans, but I'm willing to bet in the heat of summer it could get pretty toasty. This is a comparatively small complaint in the scheme of things.

Krevet uzak, nizak i nestabilan, no dovoljno čvrst.
- Peter (6/5): -
- william (1/5): Will not be back. Avoid - Room was not ready by 3pm check in time. When eventually we got our room, it was awful - every dispenser for soap, shower gel etc was empty. No glasses for drinking water. Room cleanliness was not up to standard.
- Ilaria (9/5): -
- Ryan (8/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): Quiet comfortable stay - Location was great and it was a comfortable room in a quiet location Could have done with more choice for coffee and tea machines but thats a perk not a necessity

- Alexander (8/5): Top Lage, sauber, gerne wieder!

- christos (9/5): - I particularly appreciated the hotel's location, which made our stay easier because everything was very close by: the metro, restaurants, supermarkets, etc.
But also the staff's willingness to help with this. It may still have some shortcomings, but I appreciated the effort they are making to improve it, and the price in combination with the overall stay is something that can be appreciated.
- Simon (8/5): - The location was perfect, right where we needed Nothing major, for the price it did the job perfectly
- Anderson (7/5): Clean and comfortable, no frills hotel - Great price for the location No kettle in the room
- wendy (2/5): - Hotel is in a prime location.
The two guys were friendly we were advised that the room we were allocated had just been refurbished - not a chance
Only one towel was provided for the two of us.
The floor was very uneven in the bedroom.
A large gap under the bedroom door / door lock did not work.
Gaffa tape on top of the stair carpet holding it down
No one on reception when we arrived or when we left.
Wallpaper peeling of the wall
The TV did not work properly with the control
Dirty carpet under the bed
- Carina (5/5): - Had a friendly greeting and she explained how I get WiFi and explained about complimentary drinks water coffee etc at reception I know nothing could be done about stairs but I got a shock when I realised I was on the top floor but that was OK I was warned they could not install a lift as it was an old building. Room was stark but it was OK for me it was only one night hotel stay. I was surprised no towels provided during my stay.
- Dylan (10/5): Good value for money. - Good value
- Danny (6/5): -
- Bhavik (2/5): we will never book at this place . - Only location was nearby market area. there was only 1 person as staff her name was Carrie. She was only talkative person just talk but never do work. There was no elevator,I have requested to get all room at same floor but I didt get as per request. 2 room at 1 level,2 room and 2nd level and 2 room at 3rd level. we have to lift 50lbs bags upto 3rd level.
Rooms were very small, very conjusted space no fan in any room.
- Ahmud (6/5): - En numero 1: L'emplacement,
- Riasat (2/5): -
- Paul (7/5): -
- Martyna (8/5): Good hotel for good price in London city centre - Great location very easily accessible by bus or even on foot.
The receptionist was lovely and helpful when needed!
Would book again!!! The view from the room wasn’t the best, but if you’re like us who didn’t spend much time at the hotel then it shouldn’t be an issue!
The check in was slightly delayed, but again not a huge issue!
Paradas d autobús y metro a 10 mins andando.
- Isabel (10/5): Para volver. - Limpieza muy bien.
mantenimiento Ok.
Trato muy amable. Que una cama no era muy cómoda. La otra si.
- Janet Njoki (1/5): -
- Sophia (9/5): -
- Denis (8/5): -
- Karen (4/5): The most disappointing stay in a hotel - The location was good It was dusty, the television was not working and the carpets were taped together
- Mcilquham (6/5): -
- Polonca (7/5): -
- Boaba (5/5): -
- Jackson (4/5): - Location The hotel was in need of a refurb on the stairs, landing etc. Carpets were taped down on the stairs, and in the rooms needed decorating. The bathroom was the only room to be done. One towel only in the room for 2 people. No hand towel are bath mat... to get in the shower was a very small bath but high to get in. Would ve better just having a shower cubicle...
- David (8/5): -
- Lisa (1/5): In the photos, everything looked perfect... but apart from the hotel's location, nothing was OK. I went in a small g - Just the location Everything, not safe
- Brennan (6/5): - Location was perfect The decor was very worn
- Daniel (7/5): -
- Jessica (8/5): -
- Susan (10/5): Great value, comfortable stay. - Great location, good size room and comfortable bed. Nice toiletries too. Friendly staff.
- Paul (7/5): - Friendly staff Rooms were dated
- David (8/5): Good value for money if you simply want a bed for the night, and not much more at a good price. - I simply wanted an inexpensive bed for the night between a work dinner and a working session next morning. No frills. The Somerset provided that. The room was clean, the shower was hot, the room was warm, the bed was comfy and it was quiet. So it did "exactly what it said on the tin" as they say. Albeit fairly functional kitting out of the room. And no bar/restaurant/breakfast -- but I didn't need any of that. There are plenty of nearby facilities. I just wanted a comfortable sleep and morning shower at a very good price for the location. Delivered N/A
- katherine (5/5): Great location , very basic accommodation, good service. - Warm in room- good heaters, great location. shabby decor, rundown, dingy , stained carpets, no lift but understand it's an old building with restrictions
- Melanie (3/5): Disappointing - Locations was the only good thing about this place. It’s a very moody place no life. Walls looked like they about to fall apart and mouldy, carpets all ripped and tapped down with duck tape! Shower had no hot water. No staff to be seen looked as if it was ran on it’s own.
- katelyn (8/5): Good value for money - Location was fantastic. The beds were comfy and the room was quite clean. Very good value for money The door didn’t fully touch the floor so there was a small bit of a gap but wasn’t really that big a deal. Just could hear people outside a lot.
- Pinosa (9/5): It is really good for a short stay. Highly recommend! - The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice and clean. Staff were kind. The metro was close. The WiFi wasn’t working good. The window couldn’t stay open on its own.
- Graham (1/5): One to forget - this shouldn't be on Booking.com - Nothing except the room TV worked The hotel is being renovated and the staff were the renovators - kitted out in boiler suits.
Room 206 was long and thin - too small for a double bed. The bed was the smallest double I have ever seen and unless you had very small feet and thin legs you couldn't walk round it to get in, you had to walk over the top.
There were no facilities in the room, furniture was scrappy and unmatched, no hooks to hang wet coats, plaster filled holes on the walls, wallpaper peeling from the walls, no floor covering, the toilet flush was incorrectly mounted and stuck open. Coffee and tea making facilities were in reception - two staircases down.
Worst value hotel I have ever stayed at.
- Salvatore (3/5): -
- Brendan (8/5): - Friendly staff, coffee machine was excellent. Close by tesco express, good location. Was a bit of banging from the late afternoon, other then they perfect.
- Martin (2/5): Desperate but what do you expect for the money - Location Front door to my room didn’t fit, shower didn’t work tv didn’t work
- Lucilia Maria (9/5): Close to everything. - Excellent location, close to two train and metro stations, spacious room, good shower. The only problem is that in the room with windows facing the street, you can hear traffic noise all night.
- RYOSUKE (3/5): -
- Nataliya Naydenova (7/5): Natalia - The location is great, with fantastic transport links that make it easy to get anywhere in the city. Overall, it was the best hotel option for our trip, considering the price, location, and the quality of the stay As mentioned in other comments, the hotel is quite poorly maintained, it's dirty everywhere, the carpets are really due for replacement, and it smells of curry throughout. However, I was aware of these things before making the reservation, so it was something I was willing to put up with because of the convenient location and the price.
- Marcel (8/5): -
- pompeu (5/5): -
- Workshet (10/5): A wonderful stay - Exceptional customer service. The building is a little old but it has lots of character. A wonderful london experience.
- Zoe (5/5): -
- Philip (7/5): Very satisfied - Very friendly & helpful owner. Great location Nothing
- Andrea Barbara (6/5): -
- Andreas (4/5): -
- Theresa (1/5): Won't ever be staying again. - Nothing about the Hotel. Room was dirty, mattress and pillows were dirty, bathroom floor tiles cracked, extractor fan broken, bedroom window sashes broken so propped open with book, fire emergency sign removed from door, as instructed by the hotel staff had to press the door lock 5 times before working, all stairs to top floor were dirty and a trip hazard with duck tape stuck to stair treads, no normal channels (ie BBC, ITV, etc...) on TV just 'strange' channels available to watch. Had to book 2 separate stays due to hospital bookings, first booking waste of money, second booking cancelled due to hospital appointment cancellation and trying to obtain a refund.
- Gaz (9/5): -
- Hung Tat Louis (7/5): -
- Natalia (2/5): No lift and dirty warm out carpets were very bad. - Nothing
- Susan (9/5): I was very comfortable except for the hot drink option situation - Fantastic location very near to Marylebone Station and travel options across London. Would have liked hot drinks option in the room. Was available in the reception area but I was on the top floor, 4th. No lift so alot of stairs to get to my room
- Bex (5/5): - We appreciated the convenience of the location and reasonable price for the area we visited and the staff were friendly and helpful. The building itself is run down but the room was clean and tidy. It was basic but all we needed for an overnight stay. It would have been a little more pleasant if there was a kettle in each room and some towels. But those things were available in the lobby.
- Chris (3/5): There are much better hotels in the same street for the same price - The room itself (though not the rest of it) was clean. Receptionist was polite. I’ve been staying in this area of London for 25+ years visiting three times a year and this is one of, if not the, worst I’ve stayed in. Despite saying I would arrive at 3pm there was nobody in reception and nobody showed up despite bell pressing for about 10 minutes. Eventually a guy showed up but the place had a deserted feel. Once in the carpets were very shabby with bits on the stairs held together with gaffer tape – there was even gaffer tape on the steps outside the front door. The décor hadn’t been touched for decades. The room was about as basic as it was possible to get. No glass or cup to drink from and no tea/coffee making equipment. The floor was wildly uneven so as you stepped out of bed you tipped towards the wall (and no, I hadn’t overindulged on the refreshments). Minimal comforts – single pillow and thin duvet. Shower/toilet ‘room’ about as small as it is possible to get. The explanation of the external door code omitted key info about activating the pad first. No breakfast options. In fairness the place seemed to be having some repair work being done but the standard of what could be seen suggests it is being done down to a price. It is easily possible to do better at this price and many of the hotels in the same street do a much better job. Let’s hope the facelift goes well.
- Rebecca (1/5): Dreadful- avoid - Proximity to Baker Street Property is poorly maintained
Bathroom was dirty with soap marks on shower glass and taps - toilet adequately cleaned . No feminine hygiene bin present
Mattress on bed kept moving
No tea or coffee in room only in reception
I was given a 4th floor room despite messaging in ADVANCE to ask for a room on a low floor due to my mobility issues
Aweful value for money for £100 a night
At check in the guy on reception was quite rude about the fact that I was a solo traveler but had a big room ( I booked a standard double through booking.com) but wouldn’t consider a room change when I asked for one because of mobility and prior request
Would not recommend and would not return
- Jane (7/5): - A great location. A good price. The receptionist was welcoming No lift. No kettle in the room.
- Richard (6/5): Adequate no frills accommodation, friendly lady on the front desk. -
- Tony (1/5): The hotel is in awful condition and needs repairs - Location
Staff No working shower and the hotel was in a poor condition and smelled
Carpets had tape on them.
- Villanueva (6/5): For one night was ok - Great location. Good bathroom. Good bed. I requested 2x single beds and I got a double bed. Windows dirty. Not kettle.
- Karen (7/5): Good spot - would stay here again - Staff for the building was warm and helpful for early check in. This is a building that is being brought back from an era of neglect, and some public spaces look a little tired. My room was modern, very clean and well furnished.
- Ray (1/5): I won’t be back - Nothing No lift. Very, very tired and in need of a major upgrade. Room small and shabby. Over bath shower was dreadful.
- Joanna (5/5): -
- Phil (2/5): Disappointing - Not a lot
Very tired and run down Lack of facilities
Room was very basic.
Decor needed updating
Stair carpet repaired with tape
- Roland (2/5): - Horrid room, stifling hot, tired bedding. Felt dirty.
