- Tal (8/5): - A nice hotel and friendly staff. AC in my room didn't work. The VIP benefit of a bottle of wine is nice, but for a single guest who stays 2 nights, not adequate. Breakfast could have been a better one.
- Derek (10/5): Large, quiet rooms in classy hotel. - The hotel is very nice, and clean and the room was especially quiet (no A/C noise) and very large. A separate living room/kitchen area and then the bedroom. Very high ceiling and cozy furniture made it very relaxing. There was a slight issue with the sink draining, but they fixed it quickly. The gym, like most in the UK, was small, but it was clean and had modern equipment. I would definitely stay here again if I could.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient and comfortable - Stayed one night after attending a festival in nearby Victoria Park. Had a junior suite which was well laid out and comfortable. One minor point was we were surprised that the room only had a small standard size double bed.

Pool and gym are lovely (pool is heated to a comfortable temp!). Staff were very helpful and friendly (I had an issue with the dryer which they went out of their way to resolve). Overall would recommend. Also very conveniently located and safe to walk around.

- Steven (10/5): East End Gem - We stayed at the Town Hall while attending SXSW London in June ‘25. The event was based about a mile away between Shoreditch and Hoxton and we could hop on a bus to it and arrive in 10 minutes. Nearby is the sensational Victoria Park and the Sunday Flower Market. Breakfast at the hotel was heaven. Our suite had a full kitchen and the pool and gym are fantastic.

- Dennis (8/5): - After the first night, it was very nice. It is not a 5-star hotel, at least as rated in the US, but it's probably a 3-4 star, and more affordable as it's out a bit from the main part of the city. When we first arrived, we received an inferior room, nothing like what had been advertised. We were told the room would be cleaned and available soon - we waited. And waited. And were exhausted so stayed in the (quite) inferior room one night. And then had to move the next day. If you stay here, make sure you get the room you reserved. The restaurant is very very good.
- Marcela (2/5): Management not willing to help - We had a trip to London from US booked for my mom’s birthday. We had 2 hotels booked. The evening of our flight there was a fire at a power station in London and Heathrow airport was closed and our flights cancelled. The manager at our other hotel worked with us to refund us since we were not able to use the reservation. Unfortunately the management at Town Hall was not willing to refund or give credit towards a different stay. We are out thousands of dollars.

Check in and out very easy. All the staff was very friendly. Metro station: Bethnal Green about 2 minute walk from the hotel. Easy access to all the attractions from this station.0 I did not get to use the pool, but I am sure it was nice. Supermarket: COOP

We always go for the 1 bedroom suite. It’s about the same price as a chain hotel elsewhere. They’ve saved the old building fixtures Very friendly staff with good tube service. Uber to Liverpool street you're on elizabeth line to Heathrow. No stairs. Great restaurants around museum. VandA kids museum. Parks. Michelin starred restaurant as the anchor. Great hotel.

The basement rooms feel a little gloomy and not as airy and cosy feeling as other rooms. The food is fabulous, if a little expensive. £40 spent on a light breakfast for 1 adult and a toddler was a bit steep. There were some broken lights in our room, knocking pipe noises from the shower and quite a bit of hair in the swimming pool. A little more attention to maintenance and more value for money dining options would make it a 5 star stay.

- Klaus Heinrich (6/5): No pleasant surprise - The stay in the average and expensive class hotel was generally ok The service required for completing the missing to the room was prompt The requested quiet room was not available which resulted in moving rooms altogether The request for late check out was declined
- Marie Evans (8/5): A Pleasant Stay - A lovely suite to stay in, which allowed family members to watch TV in different rooms and not disturb each other. Kitchen facilities allowed us to make our own food. Swimming pool was small but not overcrowded when we used it. Clean and nicely decorated. Only downside was the trying to shower in the room after the swim. Ran taps for ages and just came out like warm on one setting and freezing cold on the other. There were no hot or cold markings either. Had to leave unshowered for dinner reservation. When I tried it again later, the freezing cold side actually became the optimal hot temperature after running it. My teen managed to flood the bathroom the next day after using the ceiling attachment and shower curtain. This made the floor very slippery but we had some spare towels to mop up. We enjoyed our stay but wished the shower facilities were more user friendly. Best Tiramisu in the Italian across the road from the hotel.
- Richard (6/5): - Booked double deluxe for 3 nights. Overall slightly disappointing. Not quite to the standard we expected of this grade of hotel and price. Moved out of first room: poor decor, kitchen cupboard broken. Manager very kindly upgraded us without quibble. Second room/apartment very spacious; comfortable beds. Quality and finish of some fittings was average. Gym ok with a few machines and some free weights. Presented with an unexpected invoice for accommodation service charge of £45; were told it was discretionary and for the staff. Paid it, and trust that it does go to staff. In summary, a little way below what we expected and what we have experienced at other hotels of similar standard.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The bed was too soft for me since I had spinal cord surgery and after surgery my back required a much firmer bedding than normal people. The hotel staffs went extra miles to help me and accommodate my special needs with a great attitude and compassion. The swimming pool and gym were small but has all the features for travelers to enjoy and relax. The friendly atmosphere made my 5 days stay became so comfortable and enjoyable. Great team work. I would recommend the Town Hall hotel near the Bethnal Green Station in London at any time to anyone. Thanks TC

- Barbara (10/5): - The hotel is beautiful and I like that it has original details and furnishings, not cookie cutter modern furniture. I would defiintely stay again and recommend it, but at first glance in the rain, the view across the street leaves a bit to be desired. I didn't eat in the hotel, but since I had a suite that was extremely well equipped it mitigated the need for it. The fitness centre and swimming pool were great but it would be nice if there were an outdoor space. It was convenient for many great restaurants and shops by walking, bus or underground even though the immediate area is short on those..Brick Lane, Columbia Road and Roman Road were walkable if you like to explore the area, and short bus rides if that is too much.

- Alice (6/5): One night stay, okay but nothing special. - We arrived at the hotel approx 3:30pm, we were advised by our booking confirmation we could check in from 3pm. In arrival we stood in the lobby for around 20 minutes waiting for a somebody on reception to b come available. There were at least 3 other groups of guest waiting, and only limited seating, so we were just stood until a receptionist became free. While waiting we heard a number of guests being told their room was not yet ready and they would have to wait. When we were checked in the member of staff was very friendly, polite and did apologise for the wait, and we were fortunate enough to have a room ready for us straight away. On entering the room, it was attractively laid out, bathroom was clean and modern and a kitchenette was available for our use (however we did not use during our stay). The bed was in the middle of the room with no bedside tables and therefore no where to charge a phone within reach of the bed or anywhere to put a book/glass of water etc. The bed was lovely and comfy, however our ‘Junior Suite’ was advertised as having a King Size bed, and in fact was only a standard double. The suite also boasted a Smart TV, but only YouTube worked, no alternative apps and when trying to watch a channel we just got ‘No Signal’. There were two lovely big floor to ceiling windows in our room, unfortunately we only looked out onto the hotel bins store, and one of the window’s curtains only covered half the window, so we were woken first thing by the sun.

- Richard (6/5): - In a state of disrepair. Lights that don't work, light switch literally fell off the wall. Not what you'd expect for such a beautiful building with a great lobby. Not very noise insulated, almost sounds like it amplifies the partying on the street when you're lower ground level. Can hear everything in neighbouring rooms too, and the hall. Bed is tight against wall so not particularly accessible for a second person, which seems like poor planning for a studio sized suite that should easily be able to adhere to conventional hotel standards for beds. Rock hard pillows not a far cry from using a brick as a pillow. I wouldn't return.

Beds are comfortable, bathrooms spacious although the deep and narrow tub can be a little tricky. Quiet and out of the way yet walking distance to the central line, Broadway market, interesting restaurants and cocktail bars.
- Hayley (10/5): Very comfortable stay - Room was exactly as shown in the photos. Really comfortable bed and well equipped. Only downside was the bathroom, took a while to figure out the taps as they were in need of some repair. But overall a very comfortable stay, would visit again.

- Holly and Deb (8/5): Great stay - Warm welcome from reception staff was a great start. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. Lovely and spacious with a coffee machine, kettle, fridge etc. We had a couple of minor niggles - the sofa was very low, so hard to get up and down from for older people and the small hanging space provided was badly designed as the door wouldn’t close when items were hanging up. Overall though a very comfortable stay.
- Thomas (4/5): - Unfortunately myself and my wife were disappointed with our stay. We are still waiting back for an e mail from the manager as we wrote a long list of issues we encountered during our stay. We never like writing bad reviews but after not having a reply for 2 months after our stay we are forced too. - Bed was uncomfortable (had to move) - Nearly all the wardrobe doors were falling off - Metal angles on the corners were coming off ( this got duct taped back!- not exactly 4 star standard) - The Pool was cold and pump didn’t seem to be working or on as hair was floating on the surface (nobody else in there ) - No handle in the male changing room for the swimming pool. All in all it was a shame we had this experience as the hotel is nice but just needs a lot of TLC and better customer service it seems. Once again upset we had to write a bad review
- Verified traveler (6/5): Historical, beautiful, too expensive and lacking - Pros: excellent historical building with loads of original features. Staff very friendly and helpful. Cons: stayed on a Monday, and this is an expensive "experience" hotel, yet all the bars or places you could sit and have a drink as a resident inside were closed. All day long. So it cost you a fortune and all you have is your room. Felt conned to be honest, was staying as special treat for big birthday celebration and visit to my roots. Further, despite nowhere to run up "incidentals", they insist on taking £50 off you at check in. As only had contactless on phone, this means they actually charge you £50, to be refunded on exit. I objected to this, saying I would pay if used the the non existent services, but they insisted it was policy. Overall: it's a beautiful hotel let down by super high prices in one of the country's most deprived areas (I grew up here, in the flats opposite). This place should be accessible to people, almost like a museum. Instead it is so ridiculously priced that anyone who is not rich are priced out of of it. Big shame.
- Josee (8/5): - The hotel room was huge with a living area and kitchenette and separate bedroom. The bathroom was very big with really nice toiletries.
- Edwin (6/5): - The property looks great but rooms are in need of serious attention; we had to move room twice - the first because window curtain didn’t fully close allowing in light; second room change due to broken A/C. The third room also had an A/C issue but at that point not worth moving again. The hotel clearly needs to audit the condition/functionality of its rooms - the staff try manage the issues as they arise but this is a matter of property condition and ownership. Running down such a great asset makes little sense.

Heating very high 25 degrees and difficult to adjust, basic items like bed side table absent, kitchen not equipped well, bathroom a little grotty. Good selection of toiletries but it’d take useful bedside tables over a free moisturiser!

- Alice (4/5): - The pool was closed for maintenance and we had no prior warning. Front desk staff unbothered to the point of rude and a bit sarcastic. Letting down the impression to the other great staff in the bar/room service teams. I came with a baby on my own in the room for my birthday and other girl friends who’d booked their own rooms - my husband had sent flowers and champagne to my room so the staff knew this. No cot was ready. No one so much as held a door open and I was in a far flung wing of the building with 7 heavy fire doors to navigate. It was also the worst possible room for being with a baby - loud both from the street and foyer, bed on an odd glass mezzanine with a sunken bath that didn’t drain properly. Huge room but the shower was an over the bath one in the middle of the bedroom next to the bed and zero lamps or soft lighting, just clinical white overhead lights throughout. A crime against interior design and good taste but also so impractical in every way. Dressing gowns in the room but mine had a huge stain on it. It was just one night and my friends rooms were better/more normal but in general it was quite shocking. I planned to tell staff on my way out but actually they couldn’t have cared any less whether we had a good stay or not so I left it. I’ve stayed before and had a great time so I’m not sure why or how it’s gone so downhill. Maybe best to go for a cheaper room - this was a jr suite and I’ve honestly had better service at a premier inn
- Verified traveler (4/5): Terrible - so much wrong with this hotel - Terrible stay. So much wrong with this hotel. Service is poor and not welcoming. The hotel itself is not at all comfortable. The amenities are close to non-existent and the rooms are poorly maintained. Water damage and rotten frames in the bathroom, marks all over the walls, noisy air-conditioning, lights not all working, curtains that don't draw together, TV barely still attached to the wall - the list goes on. The design of the room is also completely bizarre - clear glass wall between toilet & shower and overseen by the outlooking window which means for any privacy you have to close the curtains for the room every time you wish to us the bathroom. No power sockets near he so called desk that is barely big enough to sit a laptop. Just terrible. The hotel apparently has a bar/lounge but was informed it is closed to a private event for both nights I was there, basically meaning that they value their special events more than their hotel guests paying 5* prices to stay at the property. Room service non-existent after 8pm. Pool also closed. Finally to top it off they sneakily apply 15% "service fee" to the check out invoice that they slide under your door before you depart. When queried this is apparently a discretional tip! Absolutely awful. Cannot more strongly discourage people from staying at this hotel. They do not deserve the business and quite how it claims to be a 5* hotel I do not know. The Moxy is 100 times more comfortable!

When we didnt like the room (Junior Suite Delux) and were offered a double room instead (which we took) we were not offered a partial refund or even just a free drink at the bar - just a solid, no - somewhat lacking in customer service.

- Paul (8/5): - Looks amazing on the photos but it’s not quite as luxurious as it makes out despite the main building being impressive. I booked a deluxe one bedroom suite and the room they put me in was anything but deluxe. Charity shop furniture, bathroom fittings hanging off the wall. They put me into a different room which looked like the one I booked on Expedia. But still had a rickety bed but the sheets and pillows were fantastic. Pool area was nice, just big enough to swim but mostly for floating around Was a bit surprised to have a bill put through my door before checkout with a service charge to pay for each night. Plus a service charge for me walking to the bar to collect a bottle of wine to take to the room. Overall a pleasant stay but wouldn’t rush back

- Nancy (10/5): - This is the second time we've stayed. Love the location and the rooms. Most of the staff were friendly. I did request that something be printed single sided and it was printed double-sided so I had to ask for a single-sided reprint and the attitude by the staff member was not exactly friendly about it. She seemed a little put out. One thing to add: if you have an oven in the room, you must provide oven mitts/a way for guests to remove things from the oven without burning hands. I had to call and ask for this. And for a spatula. (Nothing in drawers to remove food with from the oven.) This was resolved via request to front desk, but it should be intuitive for each room. If Town Hall provides a kitchen for guests to use, then it makes sense to provide these utensils and something to protect their hands when cooking in the oven. Overall, excellent. One staff member's attitude didn't dampen the overall experience, but it's nice to feel I'm not putting anyone out with a guest request.

- Dan (4/5): A litany of disappointments - Unfortunately, our stay at the hotel left much to be desired for. Given the recent spate of warm weather, we had specifically opted for a suite that was advertised as having air conditioning. When we arrived, the control panel in the room was unresponsive, and we later learned that it had been deactivated. Instead of allowing guests to individually control the air conditioning, the hotel opted for a centralised control mechanism. Despite repeated calls to the front desk about the temperature in the room, as well as reassurances that the system was at the lowest setting, our room remained unbearably warm, resulting in two nights of broken/uncomfortable sleep. Alongside this, the fixtures and fittings in the room were not of a sufficient standard for the rating/price of the property. For example, whilst the televisions in the room were notionally advertised as "Smart", there was no access to any online streaming sites/YouTube. Other issues included a sink that became blocked after almost every use, and a defective toilet flusher. Finally, the situation concerning check out at the hotel was nothing short of confusing. The night before our departure, I specifically checked the terms that had been emailed to me in advance. The terms stated that check out on weekends was at midday. Instead, we were woken at 9:30 am by a knock on the door by a staff member to let us know that it was 11. Despite drawing attention to the terms of the email, the hotel persisted that it was 11.
- Carl (10/5): Nice modern-ancient hotel with walking nearby. - Interesting hotel. Room was modern and spacious "loft" feel, and had an all-in-one laundry machine. Location was better than I expected... convenient to the overland train, and easy walking to and around Victoria Park and on the canal path. Never tried the bar or restaurant. Decent pubs and restaurants scattered around nearby. Pool was warm and comfortable, but pretty much always empty except for us. Had a small well-equipped workout room.
- JULIE (8/5): - Huge, spacious room like a studio flat. Really liked the modern feel. Nice toiletries and swimming pool looked tranquil but we didn’t have time to use it. The only disappointing part was breakfast as we were told it was a self service buffet but were presented with a huge bill at the end as extra items such as tea, coffee, orange juice and yogurt were all extras. There were only tiny cups for tea so when I got some extra hot water but used the same teabag I was charged for two drinks. Likewise a glass of water was extra! It is a shame because otherwise the hotel was exemplary. I think it should be made clear that every item is extra. Before the breakfast experience it was one of the best hotels I had stayed in.

- Ross (8/5): Nice venue, mixed service - Nice venue, beautiful building and nicely maintained. Staff so, so... Staying for business and i didn't have photo ID with me - was told i was allowed to stay without as an exception - despite having paid in advance and having several cards and business card as proof of identity... Tried having breakfast but was held outside restaurant for 5 mins before being told this would be longer so i gave up and went elsewhere.
- Peter (4/5): - The area was so very scary from dusk on! I found out the area is called CRACK-NIE! There was a fight in the street, I just about fell over trying to walk IN front of the hotel, due to the terrible sidewalk. The cleanliness of the area was very lacking for the price they were charging. We called down to the front desk to ask for a bucket of Ice. I guess this was a request that was entirely too complicated for the hotel. We received 2 ice buckets but no Ice in them. One hour later they told us to go to the store and get some if we wanted some. We went down to have a breakfast...They served us some coffee and 35 minutes later I left 5pounds on the table and we left. No-one came to take our order or even refill our cups. When we were leaving the restaurant they were not even apologetic for their lack of service. The restaurant only sat 20 people at most! There were 4 servers there and a hostess. The room was unique and always clean. I give them that. The furniture was so very small I felt like I was sitting on a couch in a Childs room. I try to find the good in everything but this location was very lacking in the basics of hoteling.
- Tim (6/5): Needs a kick up the backside - I have stayed here many times now and my patience is wearing thin. I like some of the apartments and the hotel itself is beautiful but there is zero attention to detail. A hotel of this standard should know its customers, nothing is every recorded and faults reported are never followed up. Dryers never work. Curtains never fully close Apartment requests and allocations are always ignored Heating/air con is hit and miss No blankets in the rooms Often no lamps and cold white bulbs rather than warm white. If using both then cold for one switch ad warm for another. No dimmers......these are not "problems" they are just some examples where no one is paying any attention to the detail or the customers. I have one more reservation looming. I have already cancelled one of the 2 nights and added it on to another establishment who manage the above easily, alas they were full on the other so i will give this place yet another chance but likely to be the last.
- Verified traveler (6/5): 5% “service charge” on entire bill is outrageous. - This hotel is a mixed bag. On one hand it is a beautifully restored old town hall, making it a unique experience. The rooms (we booked an Executive Suite) were spotless and very spacious, with a well-stocked bathroom and kitchen facilities. On the other hand, some areas they fell way short of their star rating. We were asked to pay an additional 5% “service charge” that I spotted in the small print when asked to sign a check-in agreement. So this hotel expected a £50 “tip” for doing absolutely nothing over what I already paid an substantial amount for… Seriously? Naturally I asked it to be removed, and the check in staff seem somewhat upset that I did so, and that just irritated me. They then insisted on payment even though the room was fully pre-paid, and this took more time to explain. The whole check-in experience was a long-winded time-consuming farce that left me annoyed. The cleaning of the rooms is quite lax here, on one day we returned at 5:30pm and the room still wasn’t cleaned…. Maybe if I pad the 5% “tip” I’d get that 5-star service they promise, who knows. Also, annoyingly, the aircon/ventilation was turned off in our room and while we could open windows, the outside noise level meant you couldn’t leave them open all night…. I would expect a 5 start hotel to turn on the climate controls for a room they call an “executive suite”. The location is good for access to the Central Line at Bethnal Green Underground.
- Brian (8/5): - Good side. The rooms were very large for a London hotel and so the cost was very reasonable. Not too far from Bethnal Green tube station so location was quite good for getting around too. The downside is they’ve installed metal grills to the rear of the hotel which traps pigeons inside. Also, one of our parties rooms had leaks falling down the ceiling onto the toilet. This was reported but the receptionist didn’t send anyone to look at it. She just said ‘thanks for notifying us’. Would I stay there again? Yes, but I would ask for a room facing the front so I didn’t feel like I had to rescue pigeons stuck in the grills.

- Andrea (8/5): - I read all the reviews before booking and anyone who had complaints, ie:okay toiletries, no slippers… all that seemed to get resolved. That was cool to see as it showed the building management takes customer reviews to heart: I don’t have any complaints except their is so much space & potential to spruce up the place with better design even if it meant painting a wall another shade or adding a bit more character: the design is basic that it gave a 3.5 star property vibe but other than that it had an impressive kitchen, was clean, washer and dryer helped a lot & given people can book for 1 day; it’s a big space to clean for a 1 night booking. So I commend them for the upkeep etc. the area is a bit seedy so I would only Recommend if you need to be in Shoreditch or bethnal green. For the 3 days I was there I needed to go to Shoreditch.
