• Sergejs (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Dubrovnik - Perfect appartment to stay. Very close to Super market, restaurants and Beach! Very nice terrace, where you can have your meals with great views. What not to like?
• Verified traveler (8/5): - 위치면에서 라파드 중심가와 가깝다는게 장점. 계단이 많음. 관리 상태는 청결하고 주인 아주머니도 꽤 친절했다는 3박 머무르는 동안 마켓에서 구매한 것(실용적 기념품)을 냉장고 위에 올려놨는데 외출한 동안 가져가버렸음. 체크아웃하고 비행기 탔는데 생각나서 매우 속상함. ㅠㅠ
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Erittäin hyvin varusteltu ja tilava huoneisto loistavalla sijainnilla. Suuri ja viihtyisä terassi, jonka kautta käynti yhdelle Dubrovnikin parhaista rannoista. Ainoa miinus tulee pelkästä käteismaksuvaihtoehdosta, josta ei ollut mainintaa missään.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Établissement très bien placé pour visiter Dubrovnik. Propriétaire très gentille. Le logement est propre la literie est de très bonne qualité . Restaurant et plage sont à quelques marches. Le centre est facilement accessible en bus ou avec un uber .

Erityisesti tykkäsin siitä, talossa asui tavallisia kroatialaisia ja tuntuma oli kodikas. Henkilöstö oli ystävällistä ja oli helppo saada yhteyttä. Samoin retket ja taksit järjestivät hienosti. Korkeat portaat eivät huonokuntoisille sovi.
• Hugues (8/5): Séjour inoubliable - La villa Vala est très bien située, dans le quartier Babin Kuk, sur les hauteurs, tout près d'une plage de galets, mais très bien aménagée. Nombreux bar coktails, restaurants. C'est très animé. Pas loin de la citadelle de Dubrovnik, que l'on peut rejoindre par le bus 6. Place de parking privée, ce qui est très appréciable
• Lizzy (10/5): Location and value. - Nice apartment with large terrace, and good size kitchen. Near a lovely promenade to swimming spots, restaurants and the bus stop to the old city. Quite a few stairs but apartment was clean, comfortable snd well located.
• Oscar (8/5): Prisvärt - Läget var helt okej med nära till trevlig gågata och strand. Med Uber/buss kom man snabbt till gamla stan. Sängarna stod dock på hjul vilket inte är optimalt om man är ett par.
• Vincenzo (8/5): Casa strategica per il mare e i ristoranti - Fantastica posizione a due passi dalle attrazioni della zona. Mare stupendo e ci si arriva in due minuti a piedi. Fermata dei mezzi pubblici ad un paio di minuti, e da li, in circa dieci minuti si raggiunge la città vecchia. Struttura un po datata, ma pulita ed ordinata, bello il terrazzo ed il giardino, in più vi è il posto auto riservato, cosa da non sottovalutare per chi raggiunge Dubrovnik in macchina, (visto i costi dei parcheggi).

• Mika (8/5): Rahalle saa vastinetta - Asunto on hyvällä paikalla lähellä rantaa ja kaikkia palveluja! Ystävällinen emäntä, jonka kanssa yhteydenpito toimi. Hän oli todella avulias. Asunnossa on kaksi tilavaa makuuhuonetta ja molemmissa oli oma ilmalämpöpumppu. Voisimme mennä tähän asuntoon uudestaankin!
• Federica (6/5): - La casa è affittata da una signora che ha il suo appartamento al piano superiore e che quindi scende quando e come vuole nella terrazza della casa affittata. La pulizia lasciava un po’ a desiderare e l’odore entrando in casa non era dei migliori. Il pagamento è stato richiesto solo ed esclusivamente in cash. Tuttavia la posizione è molto buona, a 3 minuti dal mare e da una pedonale ricca di ristoranti, bar e chioschetti.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Hospedaje correcto, modesto y economico. - El lugar esta bien, todo funciona, esta limpio, pero necesitaria alguna actualizacion ( colchones por ejemplo). Es como un apartamento de verano que te presta un familiar....tiene absolutamente todo lo que necesitas pero no fue actualizado. Obviamente la relacion precio calidad es acorde. No recomendable para gente muy mayor o con problemas de movilidad por la cantidad de escalones para acceder. Deberian promocionar la llegada desde la calle superior desde donde se baja a la propiedad.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Nice place and would recommend it - Excellent location very close to the beach, supermarket and lot of restaurants, evenings are beautiful to walk around. The apartment is spacious has everything, kitchen with a lot of utensils, comfort bed, AC, wifi, nice host. Pay only by cash. Would recommend for single or couple to spend time relax close to the beach.
• sam (8/5): - Bed was a bit uncomfortable and the lady running the place didn't want us to have our dog (though we'd put it on the booking and it's a dog friendly place!). Is a bit far from Old Town but Uber was cheap and the local area is really nice and quiet.
• Päivi (6/5): Mukava pieni asunto lähellä rantaa ja kävelykatua - Mukava pieni asunto kauniissa Dubrovnikissa, josta oli lyhyt kävelymatka rannalle ja kävelykadulle sekä sopiva kävelymatka bussipysäkille, jos halusi käyttää paikallisbussia. Asunto oli hieman ylempänä kuin kävelykatu ja portaita oli pakko käyttää. Vaihtoehtona oli yhdet portaat ja sitten tietä pitkin, joka oli pidempi reitti kävelykadulle. Toinen vaihtoehto oli n. 5 portaat alaspäin, josta pääsi suoraan kävelykadulle.

• heather (10/5): Great location! - Lovely little place in an amazing location, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Beach, restaurants and bars only a five minute walk away. Bus stop round the corner. Really made us feel welcome, would return here again.
• George (6/5): Good location but a little tired.... - A good location..stairs an issue for luggage. What we got was not what we thought..2 bedrooms for 4 people was two bedrooms for 3 people and a fold out bed in the sitting area. A lesson to be careful to double check what is booked. The décor is tired and apartment could do with a spruce up and some maintenance undertaken. Well stocked kitchen and a really nice area outside to sit. We enjoyed our stay after the initial issues with bed arrangements.

• Jill (10/5): Well equipped apartment, in good quiet location - Very helpful family (Novak and his Mum!) - really friendly, we were able to leave our bags in the house on the last day and they arranged a taxi for us to the port. Another family member was staying next door and she very kindly gave us cakes to welcome us to the property, a really nice touch! The studio apartment was so well equipped, it was like being at home. There was everything you needed in the room from beach towels to washing powder! The small kitchen was well equipped and had enough pots/pans and utensils to cook a meal if you needed to! The outdoor terrace was lovely and shady, surrounded by plants and a beautiful olive tree and even 2 sunbeds for an afternoon rest in the sunshine! It was a short walk down to the beach/restaurants of Lapad (5 minutes) but a perfect location for peace and quiet. I would definitely return to these apartments and would recommend them to anyone. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we look forward to returning next year!
• Verified traveler (8/5): Vila vala..functional budget stay - Nice self contained apartment. Bang in the center of the lapud tourist resort area. Walking distance to the beach. But be warned, it's not accessible by motor vehicle. One need to do a fair bit of walking and climbing up stairs to reach it. Also not well known around there, so initial hunting can be an issue. Novak, the owner is nice helpful man and so is mom. Great people. The apartment is functional and clean.
• Anca (8/5): - Very nice hosts, i totally recommend staying at Vila Vala. The rooms are spacious, the kitchen is equipped, there is air conditioning and parking. The best thing is the proximity to the beach.

• Viacheslav (8/5): Прекрасное местоположение, просторный номер. - Плюсы: - 5 мин. хотьбы до городского пляжа Lapad; - просторный номер, доброжелательные владельцы; - хорошо оборудованная кухня; - в каждой комнате есть зеркало, шкаф и раковина; - два туалета, один из них совмещен с ванной; - регулярная смена полотенец; - хорошая скорость Wi-Fi; - отличные кондиционеры в каждой комнате, удобно расположены; - качественные матрасы на кроватях; - шикарные панорамные окна в комнатах. Недостатки: - уборка в номере ограничивалась выносом мусора; - наволочки и пододеяльники полностью синтетические (впервые такое встретил за 10 лет поездок по различным отелям и апартаментам в разных странах); - это скорее особенность, а не недостаток: 300 довольно крутых разновысоких ступенек, которые надо преодалеть по пути от пляжа к номеру.

• Carina (8/5): Stämmer ej med beskrivningen på Hotels.com - Det finns ingen reception - man hyr direkt av privatpersoner. Ingen incheckning och ingen utcheckningen. Ej öppet dygnet runt alls, man får knacka på hos ägaren och hoppas på att sonen är hemma då han är den enda som kan engelska. Vi fick betala kontant utan kvitto till husägare i lokal valuta. Vilket blev en överraskning då vi hade kreditkortet till hans enligt bokningsbekräftelsen. Mycket märkligt! Wi-fi fungerade knapphändigt. Ingen städning skedde alls på de 10 dagar vi bodde där. Soporna tömdes varannan dag och nya handdukar. Lakanen och handdukar var tvättade i så starkt tvättmedel och sköljmedel att vi fick hänga ut och vädra för att kunna sova i dem. Myror i köket och mögel och smuts i badrummet. 100 meter till havet - ja om man kastar sig rakt över berget. Annars var det ca 90 höga stentrappor att klättra uppför/nedför till och från havet. Inget för barnvagnar eller folk med dåliga knän. Trädgården var ostädad och full med gamla löv och spindelnät. Otrevligt att sitta där.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Didn't ruin our trip but wouldn't recommend - I overall had an amazing trip but this wasn't what we expected for our first trip away together. We paid for a booked and paid for double bed which we didn't get, the air condition took about 45 minutes to work and we wasn't allowed to leave it on, there was no wifi which we also booked and paid for, on 3 out of 7 nights we had no hot water just pure freezing, there was no schedule when someone would come into our room to clean etc to the point she came in at 9am whilst we was both in bed asleep and we also found someone would have been in our room randomly on random Days despite no clean towels being left - and minor things such as my razors and bits of our food went missing. Fortunately we looked past majority of it but if I returned to Dubrovnik I would not go back here. I hope this was just our case. It's a lovely location and the kitchen was full of applicances so we ate breakfast outside each morning but next time I would not return.
• riccardo (8/5): - La zona e' centrale e molto bella anche se ci sono delle scale da fare per raggiungere l'appartamento, il mare e' vicino ed e' bellissimo, l'appartamento e' un po piccolo con mobili un po' vecchi e non e' raggiunto dal wi-fi.
• Jaroslaw (8/5): Dostateczny - Obiekt lepiej wyglądający na zdjęciach niż w rzeczywistości. W pokojach panuje zaduch,łazienka i kuchnia do remontu kapitalnego. Ogólnie niezbyt czysto. Nie polecam dla rodzin z małymi dziećmi,chociaż kusi do tego cena. Plusem jest dobra okolica.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Good accommodations - Great host. The property is a little difficult to locate due to there only being one sign on the fence and a personal apartment under this property. Once located it was easy to access. Welcoming host. The space has a full bath, kitchen, and two separate bedrooms. We had the entire floor to ourselves which was nice.

• Debbie (8/5): Good place to stay at very reasonable rates! - The location of 'Vila Vala' is good. It is two minutes walk to the local beach and about 40 minutes walk to the Old Town of Dubrovnik but there are frequent buses too! There are though about 50 steps down to the Promenade, which is awash with 'eateries'! The friendly owners, Timmy and Novak, are always on hand but are not intrusive! The apartment I was staying in was a little outdated but the kitchen was pretty well equipped and overall the place was comfortable. And the weather, for October, was in the early twenties and the sea still warm!!
• Cristina (8/5): Bien ubicado - El apartamento está muy bien ubicado, a una calle paralelo del centro de Lapad y a 3 minutos de la playa (de rocas), es un poco yeyé, en cuanto a que no han redecorado en tiempo, de medida justita para dos personas, la cocina tiene todos los utensilios, y el baño también (toallas, champús y demás). Las camas son cómodas que es importante. El wifi no llega a la habitación, esto es lo que más nos molestó ya que tienes que ir a las zonas comunes y admitámoslo...es más agradable estar en la habitación que tener que ir a un patio de la casa...Hay que subir bastantes escaleras, para los que tengan problemas, es un handicap. La mujer es amabilísima y su hermana también, nos hizo un regalo al irnos, aunque apenas hablan inglés. En resumen, estuvimos 6 días y fue más que suficiente, pudimos desayunar, cenar y descansar. Ah el bus a Old Town está a 5 minutos andando (es el núm.6) y pasa cada 10 minutos.

• Anthony (10/5): Hôtel très accueillant plein de charme - L'hôtel est un peu excentré de la vieille ville mais les transports en commun (bus) sont à proximité et tout à fait correct. L'hôte est accueillante malgré sa légère difficulté en anglais. La climatisation est très agréable.
• Anna (6/5): - Service var väldigt bra. Dock dras betyget ner pga att rummet var nedgånget. Det fanns myror inne på rummet och den ena sängen var trasig. De andra rummen var fräschare och nyare. Wifi sändningen var inte så bra.
• David (10/5): Excellent, like a self-contained unit! - For a 2 star hotel we were super impressed! It had a kitchenette with everything you need (microwave, hotplate, kitchenware etc.). It was really like having a self contained unit, just absolutely perfect and so close to the beach (barely 200 meters away from the entrance). The air conditioning in the room worked really well, and the wifi in the common area was strong. We also used the TV for the France-Germany Euro Cup soccer game and it worked fine. The owner of the hotel was very kind and had the cutest little dog (Reo or Leo?) who loved to play. We would definitely come back to this place!
• Gro (10/5): Great stay - We had a diving course in Dubrovnik and stayed at Vila Vila. Novak is very kind, the airport pick-up was great and if we had any questions during our stay both Novak and his mother was sweet to help. Novak even gave us a free drive to the central bus station at departure and called the center to get all bus information needed for our next stop in Plitvice. The kitchen facilties was great, we had everything needed. We definitely recommend Vila Vila!
• Verified traveler (6/5): Gute lage aber man könnte mehr draus machen. - Wohnung im EG. Küche ist alt und das Fenster ist nicht aufzumachen wegen Krempel im innenhof ( schade). Eigentümerin machte etwas Druck das wir vorzeitig am letzen Tag das Zimmer frei machen sollten. Lage ist sehr gut, ruhig und 5 min zum Strand. Preis ist gut.

• Pascal (10/5): Bon emplacement. Accueil et gentillesse. - Accueil chaleureux & renseignements utiles de Novak et sa maman. Terrasse agréable. Bons lits. Dimension suffisante pour 1 couple & 1 enfant. Chambres séparées sont vraiment appréciables. Tout est fonctionnel. Il y a juste l'odeur de la salle de bain mais c'est compensé par le charme de l'habitation ancienne. Quartier sympathique et très pratique pour les courses et le transport en commun. Parking réservé mis à disposition. Un séjour agréable dans une ville tout simplement magnifique.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Nära stranden och till allmänna kommunikationer. - Mycket dyr stad när det gäller mat och dricka. Betydligt mer prisvärt att åka till Split eller Zadar. Staden i sig är väldigt fin. Mest sevärt är old town som får mycket bra betyg för sin välbevarade historiska arkitektur. Billigt med allmänna kommunikationer. Inga större varuhus finns.
• Jani (8/5): Siisti ja palvelu loistavaa - Yövyimme vain ensimmäisen yön saavuttuamme illalla Dubrovnikiin. Lähellä kenttää mikä oli pimeään aikaan hyvä ja nopea löytää perille. Hotelli on siisti ja viihtyisä ja palvelu loistavaa, ystävällisen omistajan puolesta. Häiritseviä tekijöitä oli että illalla pari myöhäisintä konetta laskeutui melko läheltä hotellia ja aamulla aikaisin liikenne melko vilkasta hotellin editse. Sängyt parhaimmat päivänsä nähneet. Hotellilta lyhyt matka Cavtatin kylään ja sieltä löytyy useita ravintoloita ja kauppoja. Varustelu taso loistava, pyykinpesukoneista lähtien. Edullinen joten erinomainen vaihtoehto jos ei ole tapana hotellilla pyöriä. Yöpymiseen ihan kohtuullinen, jos herkkäuninen niin korvatulpat suositeltavat. 5-henkiselle perheellemme muuten hyvä mutta yksi lisävuode ei olisi ollut pahitteeksi.

• Lejla (6/5): Sliten men bra terass och läge - Bodde i en liten studio, som var sliten men ren. Sängen var lite 'rörlig' då den var på hjul, vilka inte gick att låsa helt. Terassen framför studio var underbar med träd som gav skugga. Terassen och läge var det bästa.

Ottimo terrazzino per colazione e cena. Molte scale per scaricare macchina. Lontano da citta vecchia occorre andare in autobus
• Verified traveler (6/5): great for budget travel - The place is located around 40 minutes from the old city if you want to walk and 10-15 min by bus. The area around it is full of restaurants and bars and it is a 5 minute walk from Lapad beach. The lady who owns the place is very friendly and helpful. if you are on a budget, that's the perfect place to stay.
• Miia (4/5): Budjettilomailua perheen kanssa. - Edullinen majoitus kävelykadun ja uimarannan lähellä. Paikka oli juuri sitä mitä odotettiinkin tuohon hintaan. Huone on nuhjuinen ja pintaremontin tarpeessa, mutta kuitenkin siisti ja jutut toimii. Omistajat olivat todella ystävällisiä ja auttavaisia kaikin puolin, asuvat itse yläkerrassa. Ainoa yllätys oli että maksuksi ei käy kuin käteinen, joten muistakaa ottaa mukaan jos tuonne menette.

Take a adress with you and taxi driver or some local people will help you. Owners lives also in the vila vala so there is no reception. You find them in their apartment. If i go again to dubrovnik in will stay in vila vala!

Vi hyrde en lägenhet med två rum och stannade en vecka, fem personer. Det fungerade jättebra, rummen är enkla men rena och balkongen med utsikt är fantastisk! Ägaren var mycket snäll och hjälpsam, och tipsade oss om arrangerade guideturer m.m, utan att det kändes påklistrat. Vi kommer definitivt komma tillbaka!

• Verified traveler (6/5): Super lokalsjon for alle reisende - Perfekt lokalsjon til Strand, havn og en busstur unna gamlebyen. Går fint å rusle dit på 30min Nydelige klipper med badeplasser og restauranter med god mat like ved klippene. Anbefales. Vært i Kroatia før, men dette var absolutt beste stedet jeg har vært. Drar gjerne tilbake! Tung trapp opp til veien med bagasjen hjem igjen, men det er ikke nok til å trekke opplevelsen ned. Koselig eier av leiligheten som vasket opp og ordnet ila uka. Helt grei leilighet med uteplass mot Hagen, sol fra morgen til kveld. 5 min ned til strand.
• Merja (8/5): Lovely stay and sleep - We loved our stay in Vila Vala. Lady of the house arranged us a pick up from airport for a good price. Her son drove us to Cavtat, also very convenient and decently priced. We felt like we´d been their guests, atmosphere was very relaxed, garden apartment worked well, had a feel of privacy, even if people living in the house passed our big terrace when they walked stairs to Lapad´s walking street. We slept really, really well and ate our breakfasts on the terrace facing to the garden. Lot of stairs, but that we knew beforehand. The style of the appartement was kind of 80´s, but everything taking care with heart.
• lucy (10/5): lovely stay at villa valla - we had a great time here. The family who own it/run it were lovely and helpful .We liked the apartment. the terrace was great for eating out on.The apartment was comfortable though old fashioned. The beds are comfortable but the pillows need upgrading as they were lumpy and there are only sheets not duvets. This is probably fine in the summer but getting into Autumn a light duvet would have been nice.we will definetely stay here again. brilliant location. fantastic value for money.
• Traveller (8/5): Good value - This place is good value for money. The apartment was spacious and the kitchen well equipped. As other reviews have mentioned, the condition of the hotel is a bit on the old side and it was clear it hasn't been renovated for a while. It was clean though. The location is fairly nice but a 15 min bus ride (or 50 min stroll) from the old town. Nevertheless, there are bars, restaurants and supermarkets close the the apartments though. There is also a nice beach 10 min away. The host was very nice and welcoming.
• Dom (6/5): Good location, dissapointing villa - The location was good but the villa is abit disappointing with a pretty horrible bathroom. Had a good balcony with a partial sea view which was pleasant.
• Marcelo (10/5): Very nice and spacious apartment in Dubrovnik - We were 3 friends that stayed in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik for 5 nights (wish we could stayed longer). We were looking for a cheap hotel and fortunately we found Vila Vala. We were not sure at first because in the pictures the apartment looked a bit dated, however, the price was fantastic £141 for all nights for all 3 of us. The apartments is in Lapad area of Dubrovnik, around 20 by bus from the old town. The building belongs to a family who runs the apartments and live in one of the apartments downstair, they are friendly and helpful. The apartment is very big around 80 sq metres, it has a huge balcony with see and village view, it is in a quite posh area of Lapad and all the restaurants and other amenities are just 2 minutes walking, so is the lovely beach. There is a nice supermarket near, where we bought food for breakfast and dinner, as i love to cook, the only thing that i missed was an oven but all the rest is very good for the price. The apartment was very clean and everyday the housekeeper came to organise and even change the towel. We are planing to return to Dubrovnik maybe next year, and we will stay in this apartment again for 100% sure.
• WillieL (6/5): Good location - Good value for money paid, but quality more to a hostel standard. Very basic and in need of renovation, quite a lot of steps up to villa from main cafe street.Towels changed 3 times and bed sheets once during our 10 day stay
• Jill (6/5): No frills accommodation - This accommodation is very basic but clean and suitable for a short stay. It is not suitable for children due to the number of steps and it being on different levels. We stayed in the apartment at the top which is only big enough for 2. It is compact but well equipped and the air conditioning it very good. Towels were changed on day 3 of 4. It is best approached by the road that runs parallel to the main pedestrian street below the apartments. There are fewer steps to climb and the owner's apartment is on the lower level down 2 sets of steps. We also found it easy to use the lift at the Kompas Hotel as the main entrance and reception are on the top floor and the ground floor entrance leads to the bistro, street bars, restaurants and beach. We got the airport bus to the main bus station and then the no 7 bus to the post office stop in the resort. Owner will only accept payment in cash.
• Ian (10/5): Brilliant Value - Fantastic accommodation for the price, difficult to find, however a quick phone call to the owner sorted us out. Lovely view from the balcony, really close to the beach and restaurants/bars.
• Stewart (8/5): Great homely place to stay - Vila Vala is a nice homely place to stay. If you are looking for 5 star ritz this is not the place for you. The room was a little on the older side but was generally clean, comfortable and with a little kitchen which was perfect. Vila Vala is a little difficult to find as signs are very limited but the friendly locals were more than happy to help. You can catch the bus from the airport to old city for 5 euro then local bus no 6 for 15 HRK which leaves you with a short walk to the vila. Position is great with a short walk down stairs to the beach and many restaurants to choose from.

• steve (8/5): excellent location - The apartment is only a short walk down some steps to the main pedestrian walk way in Lapad where all the restaurants are. The beach is a 3-4 minute walk. Its a few minutes to walk to the bus stop which has buses to old town every 15 minutes for 10 kuna. The kitchen and bathroom are dated and could do with a spruce up to be honest, however, the bedrooms and living area are fine.( we were in the bottom floor apartment sleeping 4) We were offered a pick up from the airport for 25 euros which was cheaper than the taxis, the driver was very pleasant. The owner came to see us to make sure everything was ok and gave us codes for the free wi-fi etc. For the price I paid, it was more than adequate. The photos on the web site were very accurate and showed you exactly what you got. to summarise, The good points are the price and the location. Bad points, Kitchen and bathroom clean but in bad need of modernising. Very thin walls and ceiling so you could hear other people in the above and next door apartment. would i stay again? Yep, sure would
