- Abdikarim (8/5): Very good -
- Lola (1/5): Didn’t like it at all - The location The staff
The property smelt like cigarettes
Towels were dirty.
The staff were not friendly. The male night receptionist came to my room and banged on my door and told me and my daughter to leave the hotel. The room was very cold. The elevator broke down with us in there.
The only staff which was friendly was the cleaning staff.
- Suraj (8/5): Very good -
- Rashid (4/5): Breakfast was extremely poor, definitely below the mark, no where close to Turkish breakfast, entire hotel have only one - Good location with poor service and horrible breakfast Breakfast was extremely poor, definitely below the mark, no where close to Turkish breakfast, entire hotel have only one broken iron which was difficult to get ! Good location, need to improve their services and communication. No doubt it’s a great location to live, don’t go with pictures it’s not actually look like a 4 star hotel. Istanbul is great place to visit but these hotel’s need to improve their services and breakfast to attract more tourists.
- Khalif (10/5): Exceptional -

- Navigate68711471258 (2/5): Not a 4 stars! - It was really one of the worst hotels me and my girl stayed in. We usually stay in hotels 4+ stars and this hotel is definitely not even 3 stars! I flew to Bucharest and bought this 4 days trip from Bucharest to Istanbul (at the end of May) with a stay at City hotel. The rooms and bathroom are small, run down, dirty and stinking of cigarette smoke and the maids are smoking on the hallways with the exit door open. Incredible!
- Bijo (5/5): Average confort stay.. - Of course not a 4 star facilitate hotel. Fitness center is mentioned but it’s not there. I have booked because of gym.. disappointed.
Plus point is only location
Other all are below average Not up to the mark as it’s mentioned 4 star
We can rate for 2 or 3 star hotel
Do not tell your customers with false information (eg: gym , etc)
- Atef (9/5): Complement to Melek and Roushdia - I liked the hotel location, close to everything.
Close to tram, metro and bus stop.
The hotel is in the centre of everything.
However breakfast was very poor. The receptionist Melek was very friendly and helpful. Our room was looking on a noisy street due to construction. She straight away changed the room to a a quieter room with sea view from the side. She done all her possiblity to make our holiday comfortable. She is the best, she speaks English very well and it was easy to communicate with her
On the the other hand the cleaning lady Roushdia that was looking after our floor, was lovely , cleaning our room every day, changing bed sheets, covers, pillow cases , and towels. Always smiling and helpful. She made our holiday stay very comfortable as well.
Thank you Melek and Roushdia for everything you have done for us.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Zaid (10/5): Special thanks to the whole city hotel staff - All people's at the hotel were friendly and helpful especially Malak (good morning). Nothing
- Ali (8/5): Very good -
- Alex (8/5): Very good - * very close to metro, about 5 minutes;
* everyday the cleaning staff came in;
* mirrors everywhere in the room; * the breakfast was poor;
- Irfan (7/5): Good - Facilities Room sizes and bath size
- Fotios (7/5): Good - It is located close to the sighseeing Several stuff:
1) The rooms could have been cleaner
2) The staff were not that helpful
3) breakfast was horrible !!!
- AndraB04 (2/5): Very dirty - We were a group of friends that stayed at this hotel and the rooms were not clean at all, the sheets were stained and one of us got skin rashes from bed bugs. The cleanliness conditions were very bad!
- Nuna (5/5): Passable -
- Noormahamud (8/5): Very good -
- 178azama (8/5): Yes I do - We go for relaxi
ng and buying cloths but in last year I couldn't reserve the city hotel I hope this year I cat to reserve the city because I like this hotel very much.
Please help me to get that for this year
Thank you so much
- 155minad (2/5): bad hotel - it was very bad hotel, it was too cold and i told reception but they didnt care about it. wifi was realy poor tocthe level that you could not even surfing and for me as a business trip, i had very bad moments there. Moreover, it was realy noisy and i could not sleep with too much noise of other rooms.
- negs2018 (4/5): The worst hotel I've ever been - It's really not 4 stars. The location was so hard to find and surrounded by Cargo and shipping companies. Terrible area not suitable for a family trip. Rooms were so small and no place to put luggage. the amenities were not like what they write about in the web sites. The fridge was just like a wardrobe and the air condition was broken and made terrible noises all the time and we couldn't sleep even at night. The floor was so dirty. the bathroom was not clean. There were no blanket like what they show in the photos. only a thicker sheet. Services were so poor. WiFi was poor. The room view from the window was the houses nearby and looked like garbage place. The staff were so rude except two of them:The sales manager and the Receptionist Malak. They were the only persons who could speak English better and tried to help the passengers. the breakfast was not so bad. THE PHOTOS IN THE WEBSITES ARE NOT THE SAME AS WHAT IT REALLY IS.
- 396alaas (4/5): GOOD HOTEL - special thanks To The Receptionist Malak was very helpful she helped us a lot she is very nice and she is the only one speaks good English language
thank u very mach malak u been very kind.
the hotel could be better actually and very poor wifi.
- JCHQ1 (4/5): Naw - I didn't mind staying here but it is true what other users are saying about it not being a 4-star hotel. The rooms are cramped, they can only give you one key even if multiple people are sharing a room, the wifi was slow and not always available, and there's no way to get bottled water late at night. We also used it for a big meeting and despite the fact that we pre-arranged to have a projector and flip-chart paper, etc., none of that was in the room when we arrived and we had to ask several times both days. It's not the worst by any means but I did not have a favorable experience here.
- I1757ESahmeds (4/5): Worst hotel ever - The hotel is not 4 stars. Its 2 or 3 stars only.
The location is very hard to find. And in dirty and cheap area . The rooms is very small . The resturant was good and clean . The service over all is bad ... even the dont smile ever.
I hate this hotel and i will never come back again.
- naghamf2015 (4/5): This is not really a 4 stars hotel! - I would say this is barely a 3-star hotel. Bedroom are too small, bathrooms are tiny, no bathrooms accessories are provided and there is barely a tiny soap bar and a few milliliters of shower gel, carpets are always dusty and are not cleaned daily, bed sheets are not changed daily, bath towels are old, no housekeeping or room service at night, bad wifi, breakfast below average with very limited choices (no fresh juice, no fruits, no cake, barely two types of cheese and ham with a few eggs, limited bread, milk, cereals, and jam), noisy rooms with walls that transmit all sorts of noises from neighboring rooms, ugly neighborhood (there are too many nicer neighborhoods in istanbul).
A good thing is that it is very close to Yenikapi metro station that can take you to most metro lines of istanbul and can make your transportation very easy. The reception staff are friendly and help tourists by answering all their questions.
In summary, I do not recommend this hotel.
- fredricibrahim (2/5): Dirty, Old and in the worst part of town. Not recommended. - Worst hotel I've been to, the carpet is never cleaned, the towels are perforated, the bed sheets and covers were not changed during our stay. Our bathroom was extremely small, my shoulders wouldn't fit in front of the lavatory to wash my face!! No toiletry were provided except a small soap bar. Wifi is bad, and the safe box didn't work even after they tried to fix it. The closet doesn't fit even a standard carry-on. Our neighbours were smokers so they would smoke in the corridors, which left a terrible smell.
Moving to the breakfast, WORST BREAKFAST EVER. Each day the items would be less. Boiled eggs, hotdogs, cheese and ham, with old bread. No fruits, no fresh juice.
Bad hotel, you would find better in better parts of town (located near car mechanic and car parts shops, in a bad alley). It's not a 3 or 4 stars, barely 2 stars.
- AliN2173 (8/5): Good one - That's a great hotel though it's small but the service makes you feel comfortable .. from the restaurant to the rooms service, the cafe and the reception you will feel like in home . The view is on a public buildings and streets.
- noel13657 (8/5): Very helpful Hotel Staff and guided well. - We had lost our keys to the suitcases lock. On inquiring with the Hotel Staff they guided us to the locksmith who was few shops away and we solved our problem by getting new locks and breaking the old ones which did not cost much.
The breakfast served was good and nutritious with good spread.
The housekeeping staff were prompt and very courteous.
- CainJacob (8/5): A Cozy little Family Place............ - The City Hotel .... what can be said about it, the location is obviously not an ideal location as even to reach a respectable eating joint we have to walk atleast for a good 20 minutes. The Service was although acceptable but the people were cold not at all welcoming, and the breakfast never changes its the same through out day after day. yet the stay is comfortable and its a clean property. So if you can let all this go please visit the same.
- samihzaim (2/5): choosing your hotel in istanbul - the hotel is acceptable but the location is not .It lies in the middle of car shops accessories. You have to walk a bit far to find a market.
If i am to go again to Istanbul i would choose the area of SultanAhmed and close to the tramway stop. That is in the old city district .
- TheInternationalist (2/5): An Unpleasant Hotel, Rude Staff - For my honeymoon, my wife and I were recommended this hotel by those who live in Istanbul, and that was a bad choice. When the reservations were made, we requested a room with one bed, especially a honeymoon suite - and we were given a very small room with two small twin beds that we had to push together. The staff at the front desk were rude and condescending. Never in my life have I been to a hotel that didn't provide an iron, but this hotel didn't.
The morning breakfast is without choices. Instead of changing things or having a different menu on weekends, the same breakfast was served daily. The shower door would not close, the carpet was never cleaned, and the walls are so paper-thin you can hear everything next door. When you ask for assistance from the hotel desk (directions somewhere, to borrow their phone for a second, to see if they recommend anything for my wife and I to do) they seemed inattentive and when they wanted to help, you had to pay them. At night, this location is terrible - don't go outside past 9 PM because there is nothing but people around the hotel entrance smoking and begging for money. And the Wi-Fi? Beyond terrible. Not only is it choppy, don't expect to get anything done because it cuts off after thirty minutes of use and you have to re-connect each time.
Basically, pay the extra money and stay somewhere else.
- _2013Marijana (4/5): It's not a 4* hotel - My friend and I we stayed in this hotel in June 2014. The hotel does not deserve four stars. Rooms are small, bathroom too, with no isolation, so that the voices from the neighboring room, you can listen in your room. Rooms are cleaned every day.
Hotel is not properly marked, it is a little hard to find, plunged in "Mahalla" if you return late from the city center can be a problem
Simple breakfast, eggs, cheese, olives, salads, bread, coffee from machine was not good.
Professional photos that are set by the hotels, are only there to attract you. The reality is different.
- boteav (4/5): Definetly not a 4* hotel! Dirty and unpleasent - I stayed here on my return from my summes vacation because i wanted to visit Istanbul. This was my worst choice ever. The hotel has a 6 place parking but they dont let you park unless you give some average guy your car key to keep it. The hotel is small and very dirty. The bathroom was FILTHY and not cleaned at all, the carpet very dirty and everything looked old. Breakfast is a pice of crap, nothing to eat or drink. i asked for some water and they gave a me a glass of tap water witch was warm and smelled like pee. In conclusion, i was very dissapointed for choseing this hotel!!
- Touristka-UA (4/5): Very bad, unfortunate experience - We weren't planning to stay in this hotel, but due to overbooking in The City Port hotel, we ended up here. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. If this is a 4 star hotel, I've lived in a 2 star hotel in Europe which was better.
First of all, it is located far from the main sightseeings of Sultanahmet, it's about a 40 minutes walk. And about 15 minutes to the nearest tram station. Unless you get lost. We had to take taxi to get home in the evening because it's located in a creepy neighborhood, but most taxi drivers have no idea where this address is, so they would drive around asking people for directions.
It was difficult to sleep because it was very loud at nights.
The TV didn't work. The safe box didn't work (replacing batteries helped). The bathroom door has locked itself when there was noone in, and we couldn't open the door until we called the guy from reception and he opened it with a coin. The towels had holes in them. Not sure if the AC worked, we never managed to find its remote.
Breakfasts were bad, too. This is the first time for me, when there was no fruit for breakfast in a hotel. The breakfast is mostly pastry. Also some cereal, cheese and tomatoes, which weren't tasty. The coffee from the machine didn't look drinkable, so I never had the courage to taste it.
- CarolinaSilva (6/5): Good but can inprove - I liked staying in this hotel, although the area around its not the best, but its close to the tram that goes directly to the center, for example the Blue Mosqur is only 10min (4 stops) in tram :) and its close to aksaray, an avenue with nice shops... but the streets around the hotel are a bit strange...
The hotel rooms are small but nice, clean and modern, the shower cabin its very nice :)
The breakfast as oriental influence, has many types of bread, but should have had more things according to the european taste... but it wasn't bad at all, and the room in on the 7th floor, has panoramic viwe of the Marmara sea and the city :)
according to the price i0ve payed, I can say that I am satisfied and wouldn't mind to stay again in this hotel if i return to Istambul.
