They are very attentive to guest situations before & after coming & going during the day. Location is convenient to West Village, Chelsea Market & Meatpacking areas, adjacent to major 14th Street subway hub for easy access to the rest of NYC. Room are average size for NYC and immaculately maintained. Overall, a really good value.

- kiwiflyer10 (8/5): Old BUT Clean - We recently stayed here for 5 nights. It’s a very old building but our room was clean, warm and the beds really comfy. The rooms were big by New York standards. There is a kitchenette/Dining room you can make your self a drink or eat your food you’ve brought. It was surprisingly quiet. Really close to an underground station and Chelsea Market. The one thing you need to keep in mind is that there is no lift. After a days walking around the city it was hard to walk up the stairs but the staff are happy to take your luggage up and down on arrival and departure. Price was ok by New York standards too

We could hear guests outside our door accessing the bathroom. One of our rooms had a very odd set up- with access to the shower directly in room. Literally the shower door was next to bed. The toilet & sink were in a separate room. This should have been noted when I booked.

Nice common areas on ground floor with outdoor area, indoor sitting area, kitchen with drinks and coffee, large fridge guests can use, microwave. Rooms are very small as usual in NYC but nice bathroom. Very good location near two major subway stops, Chelsea Market, High Line, Meat Packing District, West Greenwich Village, South Chelsea. No elevator, but we stayed on ground floor, no issues with noise. Very secure. The only minor issue is you can't control heat in your room, it is whole building heat. Each room has its own air conditioner. Overall, a great place, highly recommended.

- gwen (9/5): Great location with excellent staff! - The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The location was great and easy to get everywhere. We probably could’ve used being on a lower floor than the 5th floor…after a long day it could be a bit much. But overall it was okay.

I don't like they took a holding g fee of $200 out of our bank , which they told us would be go back in with in 3 to 7 days after we left , as yet we haven't received it and have been back in UK for 2 weeks, so that is over 3 weeks and have messaged the hotel and heard nothing , we left our rooms spotless so no issues there .

They put us in 506, the 5th floor with no elevator. Walls were dirty, the room had a bad smell, curtains were dingy, bed tiny, sunken in and made so much noise. They moved us to another room which was a small improvement but on the street with a lot of noise. Would not recommend

The location is excellent, right near a subway line that will get you almost anywhere in the city. The front desk staff and other employees are very friendly. There is a lovely garden with a sitting area in the back. But be prepared for your room to be on any floor-it is a walk up! The staff will help you up and down with your luggage if you request it. If you need a nice place to rest your head in NYC this is it!

Too many places seem cookie cutter and this felt more like a traditional manhattan stay. The neighborhood felt safe and when you come out of the C and E line station you can see the awning to the hotel. It is also just a couple of blocks from The High Line and the Little Island. All around exactly what I wanted for a Daddy/Daughter bonding trip

We love going to NYC for theater weekends and the Chelsea Pines is our favorite place. The subway to the theater district is about 50 yards from the hotel and its 2 stops. Super convenient AND we don't have to stay in Time Square area. We love the Chelsea location there are tons of great shops, food and bars within blocks of the hotel. The Hotel is clean, welcoming, and reasonably priced. The rooms are a great size for NYC and I love that its a walk up as I get some extra workout steps in. The staff at the front desk is super helpful and they have a little garden in the back. Its our little home away from home!

The staff is super nice and helpful. they will dispel any preconceived notions you may have about New Yorkers. The inn has a "Hollywood theme" with many many posters in the hallways and the rooms. There is a nice area with a sink and fridge where you can keep milk for morning cereal or coffee, etc. There's a cute little glassed in sitting area as well as cafe tables to sit at in the charming back yard. Fair warning, this is NYC and this place is affordable, so the rooms are a little squinchy. But I've found that to be true about high end places as well. It's also very close to all the key subway lines. We loved it and are planning to stay again soon!

- Benjamin (10/5): - The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Note that there is no elevator on the property though.

- Brent (8/5): - We really loved the Chelsea Pines Inn. We were on the 5th floor-no elevator- and that was fine. A good work out. The pack patio was a nice place to hang on warm summer evenings. The AC in the room works great and is not too loud. It's obviously less expensive than The Ritz, so don't go there expecting The Ritz. the staff were all SUPER nice. Some of the language on their website comes off a little off-putting, but nobody there treats you that way. We would stay there again, for sure.

- 49maureena (10/5): Great Summer stay in lower west side! - We needed a safe, comfortable and affordable stay for three people near 23rd street in order to visit family and Chelsea Pines was a great surprise! The staff helped bring all are belongings up to our room which was comfortable and decorated with fabulous pictures of old movies! We will be back next time we are in NYC!
- RichTBoston_MA (8/5): NO elevator - so be sure to book a lower floor. - OK, good and bad here. KEY POINT: make sure you can book a LOWER floor - this is an ancient building and has NO ELEVATOR. Good - location is great - two blocks from Pier 56, one block from the subway, paid-for parking garage next door. Reasonably priced (especially for NYC), convenient Chelsea location, lots of restaurants, etc., etc. OK - hotel itself. Friendly staff, redecorated in a retro movie theme (kind-of fun, amazing gallery of vintage memorabilia in each room!), rooms are clean but small and basic, though you DO have on-suite bathrooms and typical amenities. Bad - no elevator. In a 110+ year old building, those 11-foot ceilings mean that a 5th floor room is a HIKE, especially carrying luggage.

Subway just out the door. Can go anywhere in manhattan so easily. Nice safe street even at njght 2. We stayed in the apartment which was huge - such a surprise in NYC 3. Staff were very friendly and responsive Cons 1. Room could be cleaner and more updated. We had many lights out in the room. The extra beds in room need new mattresses. The basement apartment also quickly got humid if the AC was not run quite low.

- Cindy (9/5): Cool looking, spacious apartment in a great area with subway, restaurants and pharmacy right there. - Absolutely loved the location, had a cool vibe. Subway station, restaurants, pharmacy all right right there, and Chelsea Market a very short walk away. We were in the apartment and I didn't realise when booking that all 5 of us would be sleeping in such close proximity. I got the impression from the photos that there was a bed in a separate bedroom. It was fine though, the vibe of the apartment more than made up for it.
- Graham (6/5): Pleasant - Location Rooms were tired, had to change rooms twice due to a/c issue and a plumbing issue. Steep stairs to 4th floor

- Brock (6/5): - Small rooms. No elevator. Unique setting. Comfortable bed. Lights in room were burned out. AC unit wasn’t working so they had a window unit, which was at the head of bed. Cold air blowing on your face all night. While dog friendly, they charge $50 per pet per night. I’m not sure why. They provide no services or amenities. They have a back patio that is in desperate need of attention. Coffee and tea in the morning was good.
- Manuela (10/5): - The shower head was broken and water was coming out the pipes from opposite side. The comforter had pink stains on it. The floor I was on was so inconvenient because I have asthma and no one accommodated my requests to be on first or second floor instead I was places on 4th floor. The room I was in was very noisy couldn’t get any good rest. The only thing that was great about my stay was the night staff.

- Craig (10/5): - The staff were absolutely amazing that the decor harkens to a different time and it’s in a great central location. Highly recommend the hotel. Just be aware they don’t have an elevator so if you’re on the fifth floor, it means climbing some stairs, but the staff is happy to help. And we can all use the extra steps.
