Guest Reviews
- Evaldo (9/5): Superb -
- Cleber (9/5): Good price and location. - Breakfast It does not feel like a hotel. More like a cottage or hostel. Even having only private rooms.
There is no lift, taking the stairs with big luggage is quite annoying.
- Nancy (7/5): I don’t think I would stay here again but it was a cool experience - It is a funky little place. Cool art and gardens. The rooftop terrace was tranquil. LaLa the cat and Azul at the desk were both warm, welcoming and friendly. The breakfast room is fantastic. It is definitely not a “boutique” hotel as I would describe it. The room was smaller than we expected, but we were lucky the weather was nice to have seating on the terrace.
- Simonetta (9/5): I would go back! - The place is very very special with lot of personality and italian history
- Virginia (7/5): Good - Conveniently located in Palermo, with a nice charme to it.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Zonta (6/5): Pleasant - The property has a lot of character; the staff is exceptionally kind and helpful Unfortunately we found that the standard of hygiene is quite low. If you are alkergic to cats , it us not the right place for you. We just stayed one night and that was fine. Would nit have stayed longer.
- Roberto (8/5): Nice and cozy place with excellent location - It’s location is great in Palermo, with many parks and restaurants at a walking distance. Staff super friendly and willing to help at all time. Breakfast was a great add-in Rooms are quite small and beds could be a bit more comfortable
- Cleber (9/5): Nice! It worth the price you pay. The idea of this place ain’t have a hotel atmosphere. If you like it, try it. - Location
Nice breakfast, simple but great No lift, actually it is a big house with rooms spread on 3 floors. So, if you are carrying a big luggage, it might be challenging.
The tube in my room had the drain clogged.
- Tom (6/5): Pleasant - The staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast ok. Looks like they converted a large house into too many bedrooms. Everything was squashed and no door in small bathroom so looking into bedroom.
Would be better of redesign the rooms for more comfort.
- James (10/5): Friendly and convenient place in Palermo. - The staff was great. The front desk helped us with some reservations and could easily communicate with us in English. Gave good tips on Buenos Aries and the Palermo area. The breakfast was a perfect way to start the day. I had a later flight and they held our luggage until we left. This was our 2nd stay here and can recommend. All was good and as expected.
- Patricia (8/5): Very good - Noise fron next door
- James (10/5): Great stay in great location and staff - The location was very convenient in the Palermo district. Easy walking distance to restaurants and public transportation (or Uber-Taxi pickup). The breakfast had great food. Our check in receptionist was super and gave practical advice for touring, public transportation. The 2nd day we had to leave early to take a ferry to our next stop but they prepared something for us and left in the refrigerator. No problems occurred. Only thing to consider (it was ok for us) is the stairs are quite steep to the rooms so if someone has bad knees or limited mobility, they should request a lower level room.
- Garance (9/5): Superb - Great location super vibe with lovely outdoor spaces including roof terrace. Lovely breakfast facilities
- Edna (9/5): Superb - Great staff, amazing location, best breakfast ever!
- Anchita (8/5): Very good -
- Andreas (2/5): Pictures not representative of the actual rooms. - The only positive interaction was the young woman at the reception on our final day who was very helpful when the booking.com failed to materialise. Room: No resemblance to the photographs, small, smelly, tacky, cluttered, uncomfortable. In urgent need of modernisation.
Breakfast: very rigid and inflexible times that did not start till 8:30 which means that we missed it for a couple of days due to planned activities.
Staff: apart from the young lady on our last day, the rest were indifferent and we presume the owners that were sitting at the reception were unfriendly and not very welcoming.
Price: overpriced for the quality compared to the rest of the properties in the area.
In summary, I do not believe the reviews on booking.com represent the reality as the property has no resemblance to the pictures here,
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ambra (7/5): Good - Great location in Palermo: close to everything but in a quite street.
Amazing home made breakfast.
Charming hotel.
You get what you paid for that price (3 in a room for 100 USD per night) Old structure. Overall cleanliness to improve.
- Dawn (6/5): Pleasant - Charming vibe and lovely staff No door on the bathroom
- Edna (8/5): Very good - Great friendly and professional staff. Excebreakfast, beautiful patios, decor, and awesome location. We were 3 people in a small room. In the second floor, no elevator, steep steps and I have knee problems. But they help with luggage, and were wonderful.
- Luisa (7/5): Excellent location, charming vibe and friendly staff. Facilities can be improved. - The staff in charge of breakfast are really kind and attentive. They offer a nice selection of fruit, homemade bread, eggs, cereals, and yogurt. The dining area is a bit cramped, but it creates a cozy atmosphere where you can easily interact with other guests. The house itself has a cool vibe, thanks to its vintage furniture and decor. Some of the items were in poor condition. For example, the legs of the TV table were broken, and the headboard of the bed was not supportive. When it rained, water leaked through the bathroom ceiling and dripped down the light bulb, which was quite dangerous. I did report all that. While I appreciate the charm of old materials, they are difficult to keep clean, and I felt the hotel could have done a better job with maintenance; the walls were somehow dirty and had stains, like, I really didn't want to know how those stains got there!. Lastly, I was disappointed to find that the mattress was a thick and soft foam, not a real, firm, hotel mattress that would give support to your back.
- Kirsten (9/5): Great stay - Location, super friendly host, good communication upfront, best breakfast we had on our entire trip, room was spacious, great neighborhood for restaurants and drinks There were mosquitoes in the room, but with ac and plug-in anti-mosquito device, it was doable
- Daniel (8/5): Pretty good stay - Unusual building and rooms’ arrangement succeeding in being quite genial. The personnel - especially the breakfast lady - was very friendly. The equipment (air conditioning, fan, bathroom) was pretty basic and pretty noisy. We suffered from the attacks of mosquitoes.
- Anna (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Amazing service! Everyone of the staff that I talked to was so helpful and kind. I was a bit concerned because my Spanish is very basic but I got excellent help in English and they were even able to give me a gluten-free breakfast with very short notice. Great place!
- Andrea (9/5): Superb - Lovely staff, quirky hotel and a friendly cat. They let us leave our luggage until our late evening flight home. Safe neighbourhood with lots of restaurants in walking distance Nothing
- Jacqueline (8/5): Very good - Great
Location, excellent breakfast and helpful and friendly staff
- Sam (8/5): Very good -
- Janet (10/5): Lovely hotel! Will return! - Perfect breakfast- fruit and homemade bread and cakes!
Very nice and helpful girls at the reception, they were able to help us with our sightseeing and bookings - a charming hotel - good area with a lot of nice restaurants, will recommend it to all people that travel to Buenos Aires!
- Jeanne (9/5): Lovely B&B with friendly staff - Everything was wonderful at Casa Rugantino. All the staff were kind, the breakfast was nice (with mate!), my room was on the top floor all the way to the end so quite quiet. I loved the atmosphere, the nice decoration, felt like you were staying in someone's quirky house. Would definitely stay there again if I ever come back to Buenos Aires. Thank you for a lovely stay! Nothing, I think people should manage their expectations - this is not a 4**** boutique hotel this is more of quirky B&B with lots of art around the place and lovely people!
- Gina (10/5): Great staff, would stay again - Great location in Palermo. Loved Lala the cat. Had to walk up outside stairs to room
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely beautiful boutique hotel with a lot of charm. Staff were very friendly, check-in was easy and the breakfast was varied and delicious! (Dulce de leche on crepes!). Comfortable room and cute rooftop terrace. The location was also great to walk and explore Palermo.
- Eugen (9/5): Superb - Excellent location, charming interior, helpful staff
- Martin (9/5): I would come back here again! Thanks Catalina, Tomas, Azul, ladies in la cocina, and the cat, Lala! - Hello,
Casa Rugantino is an excellent bed and breakfast 'posada' in Palermo Soho or Viejo (I guess), a nice neighborhood and place to stay in Buenos Aires. The folks running the place are excellent, helpful and friendly. My room was basic but met all expectations. Breakfast in their well appointed dining room/kitchen is the best; they make everything there including the jams and breads I believe. Also very helpful having that Wifi available. Thanks to Casa Rugantino for a welcome and wonderful stay in the 'B.A.' ! In a way I liked the informality of the place; maybe a bit more privacy but the way my room is located I was closest to the lobby and kitchen! Also, in this city I think screens aren't used much on the windows because the air is dry and fresh.. Buenos Aires! We come to exotic places like these because they are different. In general, anyone coming to Argentina's amazing capital, it is very helpful to be familiar with some Spanish and maybe be familiar with Wifi and What's App; they are big here! Plus if you don't bring a converter for their special 'angle pronged plugs' for the 220V/50Hz electric outlets you can borrow one or get from the local hardware store. Hope to be back again!
- Nando (8/5): Great location and very spacious - Very spacious cosy old-style room with good shower and really well located. The breakfast coffee tasted awful. I think the thermos flask hadn't been properly washed and it tasted of chemicals. Maybe this doesn't always happen, but sadly it did with us.
- Dody (7/5): Good -
- Fabiana (8/5): Excellent location, warm and attentive staff - Very good Breakfast and family atmosphere. Warm and very helpful staff. The hotel is very well located in a quiet and safe neighbourhood but with lots of amenities closer by. I think i would like to see the small central patio cleaned every day with confortable chairs to relax.
- Mariana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joerg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tal (8/5): Nice boutique hotel - Excellent location in rhe Palermo's heart. The hotel has boutique style. It's well furnished and decorated. The room was small and simple.
- Martin (8/5): Very good - I just want to insist on the friendliness and availability of the staff. Always helpful, consistently friendly! The taps (faucets) in the bathroom were a bit wonky, I put it down as part of the charm of the hotel.
- Howard (10/5): Very highly recommended - This was the friendliest staff I have ever encountered in a hotel. The location, breakfast, and value were outstanding. Absolutely nothing bad to say
- Jean (8/5): Very good - Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice breakfast.
We were lucky to have one of the 2 rooms on the top floor, with nice sunlight and next to the terrace.
Very quiet and silent.
Friendly area with numerous cafés and restaurants. 15mn walk from metro line D (Piaza Italia)
- Julie.g (7/5): Comfortable and great location - Staff is helpful and kind. Location is really great! Room size is correct and they have AC, bed was comfortable. Breakfast is perfect. Isolation is like in all buildings of this country: poor. So it's very hot inside and you can hear all the noises around. So bring your earplugs with you!
- Serge (5/5): Spartan accomodation. Nice people! - The location is great. Palermo is a nice part of town….one of the few unfortunately. The staff were very helpful and accomodating! I don’t think it should be listed as a boutique hotel. It is more like a b&b. The cleanliness and comfort of the rooms is not great. I had a swrious problem with sewage smell in my room, and I found that the kitchen / breakfast area smelled like cat litter
- Amirh (9/5): Lovely place to stay in Buenos Aires, would definitely return - Great location, excellent staff (friendly, efficient, professional), good breakfast. We were very comfortable here -
- Michael_rowland (9/5): Friendly local hotel in big city location - Great location. Fantastic breakfast with lots of choice including freshly squeezed orange juice and home cooked pancakes. Nice roof terrace and inside courtyard.
- Dias (9/5): Really nice place with good artistic atmosphere! -
- Linda (9/5): Superb - Super friendly and helpful reception
- Isobel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ross (10/5): Excellent in every way… - Beautiful and perfect….amazing people work here and the building resonates with love and positive energy. Highly recommended.
- Enrico (3/5): BRING A HANDYMAN WITH YOU - The look of the lobby and b/fast room.
Nice staff.
Location There is a very fine line between calling a place like this a boutique (and charging as such) for the Belle Epoque look of the reception and b/fast room and having the rooms falling apart with total lack of maintenance for the sake of looking old...
All power sockets coming off the walls (I've been in two rooms and even in the bathroom with the shower steam was the same hazard). Furniture barely staying together, TV not working, bed with a mattress older than me....
Breakfast borderline with hygiene minimum standards...
- Felix (10/5): Beautiful gem in a great neighborhood! - Beautiful building with very nice rooftop terrace. Cute cat on premises. Breakfast was very good and included. Bathrooms could be updated
- Jaciara (8/5): Original hotel in a great location in Palermo. - Very well located and charming hotel with a great breakfast. It is not for people with reduced mobility.
- Jaciara (7/5): Uniquely styled and in a great location but stay away from the triple room - When we were in the right room, we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was very good and so was the location. The hotel is also decorated in a unique way. For our first night we were given a "triple room" when we had asked for a double and the room we were given must be used just for emergencies because it was damp, cold and noisy. I had to wear a jumper in bed. When we moved room to a normal double it was what we expected it to be.
- Conrad (8/5): Pleasant hotel , close to Palermo sites - Good location Close to restaurants Good breakfast. Pleasant dtaff Bathroom a little old and needs refurb
- Elena (10/5): Great value for the money, ready to help staff, nice and cozy room and really good breakfast - It was a big, warm, and cozy room, with very welcoming and ready-to-help staff, and an excellent breakfast. Baby seat at the breakfast is not safe for small babies - easy to fall. But it's not a bad thing, you just need to find an extra rope to protect the baby.
- Myrka (8/5): Excellent value for the experience! - The staff was very nice and ready to help. The facilities where very nice and the dining area very charming. The breakfast was very good and varied.
- Sergio (9/5): Superb -
- Fermin (9/5): The staff made us feel at home. Azul, Norma and Rosy were great. - Location, small property
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nand (10/5): Very good location, clean and big rooms, very helpful staff, best price-quality! - Best price quality and location. Very helpful and friendly staff Nothing
- Abbey (10/5): Exceptional - great stay, perfect location, cozy room, lovely staff
- Isabel (10/5): Exceptional - It is a funky property, the staff was so friendly and the breakfast was really terrific!
- Michelle (8/5): Very good - Very friendly helpful staff...spoke excellent English. The breakfast was good and homemade bread etc
- Jonas (8/5): Very cosy - A very unique place. I like this kind of small B&B places that puts their personal touch on the place. Its rustic and not luxurious but very cosy. Bed was good. The room was cold and it took some time to get warm. Rooms quite small, but fine for 1 person. 2 persons with several bags would be tiny.
- Oana (9/5): Superb - The breakfast was really great.
- Daria (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (6/5): Good place. Just avoid room #3. Lala the resident cat is a sweetie. - Very friendly people. Good breakfast. For the price difference, in future I would not stay in the single room. The photo of it does not indicate that it is room #3 which is on those stairs going up to the other rooms. Hence you hear all the foot traffic and conversations of people passing by, plus you have to keep the curtains closed all the time. Rather isolating feeling.
- Petr (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was great, I could even make my own fresh juice.
In the evening we brough some wine and cheese and the host provided us with the wine glasses and plates to the room, they even invited us to taste another wine in the evening of their courtesy.
The room was very cosy, despite there was no window, only the glass door from the room leading to an indoor open space.
- Megumi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful spot in a trendy neighborhood that feels like an old-school Bed and Breakfast. The crepes in the morning were delicious and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
- Veronica (9/5): Prefect location for touring the city. - Conveniently located to so many attractions and restaurants. The steps were very steep and the AC didn’t work great.
- Koralia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Declan (9/5): Superb - Azul was very helpful and we really enjoyed the space. Thank you.
- Bryony (8/5): Unique character hotel - Unique characterful hotel, lovely friendly staff, It rained very heavily when we visited - so we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the roof or courtyard area which would have made it a different experience
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Very charming hotel, just like in photos. Very friendly stuff, Azul was very friendly, hepped us with many things. And Norma was doing thr best pancakes for breakfast. Roomms need some renovation... especially Bathroom.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ariel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Selja (8/5): Very good -
- Kiriti (9/5): Superb -
- Vicente (9/5): Superb - friendly staff, great location
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, lovely hotel with possibly the best breakfast offered!
- Boris (8/5): Very good -
- Jill65 (9/5): Lovely staff - Great cosy feel and lovely staff.
- Zachary (9/5): Cozy -
- Debora (5/5): Passable - Staff was friendly (helped me have a slightly earlier check in, and breakfast staff was very kind). Bed was very comfortable. Room was clean. Felt very old and dusty in the common areas. Perhaps just not my style of property, maybe for others it is considered charming but for me felt cluttered. Room facing the road was quite noisy. Windows were old and property could do with a face-lift.
- Supratim (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely people. The reception hr is from 8 AM but she came early at 6:45 AM so that I can drop my luggage. Eventually she allowed me to check- in early as the room was available. Location is great.
- Francini (8/5): Comfortable intimate spot - Lovely authentic home with delightful ambiance and morning breakfast
- Wigger (8/5): very cute, felt safe, in the middle of Palermo -
- David (8/5): Very good - This hotel is very cozy and has a familiar atmosphere.
The owner and his employees are very friendly and try to help you with everything.
Thank you!
- Karika77 (9/5): Superb - Thank you for a wonderful stay and for for accommodating our single request.
- Lauri (1/5): Bad -
- Simona (9/5): Wonderful Stay with Great Staff - The property it stunning - nestled in a court yard with beautifully clean and decorated rooms with in a Tuscan style. The staff are amazing and very kind and helpful. The WiFi in the rooms was a bit light.
- Johannes (7/5): Boutique hotel with a lot of charm, however with some significant shortfallings - At the heart of Palermo, excellent location. The hotel is cosy and staff very friendly. The house cat Lala is very playful! 2nd floor rooms have poor wifi and at times no hot and cold water, therefore unable to take a shower. This is simply not what a hotel guest should have to worry about for the price of the room per night...
- Fabiana (10/5): Amazing place! - Kind people. I strongly recommend Rugantino Hotel if you wanna visit Buenos Aires. I had a problem with my payment method and they helped me a lot to fix it. The room has all the things that you need. Complete breakfast with homemade bread and pancakes, etc. -
- Gwendolen (4/5): Disappointing -
- Virginia (8/5): Pleasant stay with lovely people. - I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and access to tea and coffee outside of breakfast hours. The building structure is quite interesting and eclectic. Hotel staff accomodated my late arrival and assisted with carrying my broken suitcase up to my room. Great water pressure and hot water in the shower. Recommendations for where to walk were appreciated and easy to follow. There was a musty smell in the room.
- Claudete (1/5): It was a negative surprise as it was very durty and old . Una sorpresa negativa poiché molto sporco - It was very very durty! Molto sporco! Muito sujo !
