- Tala (2/5): - Terrible place – nothing like the pictures! This was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The photos online are completely misleading – the reality is nowhere near what was shown. The room was dirty, smelled awful, and the furniture was old, filthy, and also had a bad odor. Everything felt neglected and unhygienic. The staff were extremely unhelpful and rude. They didn’t seem to care at all about the guests or any issues we brought up. Overall, the entire stay was awful and disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone – avoid it at all costs!

Salle de bain noir de moisissures , sol instable , mobilier vétuste, pas d’eau froide que de l’eau chaude dans les robinets. Pas de bouteille d’eau disponible. Petit déjeuner ras des pâquerettes avec des frites le matin du jamais vu , assiette prête pas de buffet .Franchement c’est inadmissible de proposer ce genre d’hébergement c’est de l’arnaque. Avant de proposer cet hôtel vous devriez aller voir sur place pour ne pas décevoir vos clients .

- Farmina (2/5): Dirty and bad shape, it is not worth your money. - The hotel was in bad shape and dirty, broken things like dorhandle, broken closeth, dirty lamps. The room service was only done 2 times in 6 days, you had to fix your own towels, toalet paper. The breakfast was also bad, no butter, coffe, very few alternatives. I dont have high expectactions, but you would expect some quality from 3.5 star hotel. The towels smelled bad and it was hair in the bed when we arrive the first day before we used it. The two guys tried to helps us as much the could but it wasnt their fault, the hotel was in very bad shape and not suited for being 3.5 star hotel or hotel at all. I will not recommend using this hotel.
- Rehana Naziema (6/5): - Service van de manager is top! Wat een aardige man en ook zo behulpzaam super tevreden met hem. De rest van de personeel niet echt gezien of gesproken. Hotel is oud, badkamer deur gaat niet dicht maar dat was niet zo erg alleen het ventilatie geluid was wel heel hard doordat de deur niet dicht gaat. Hotel is ook heel erg gehorig niet alleen auto’s van buiten maar binnen hoor je ook van alles slapen ging moeizaam. Er wordt ook veel gerookt als je daar tegen kan. Ontbijt inbegrepen maar dat hebben wij maar 1 keer gedaan was weinig keus. Locatie naar de grand bazaar of openbaar vervoer was top. Hou er rekening mee dat je wel een beetje moet lopen het is een klim, maar wel te doen. Complimenten aan de manager!

- Barbara (8/5): - I had a fantastic view of the Blue Mosque and Bosporus from my window. The value of the overall situation makes me glad that I overlooked prior negative reviews of the property. You have to go with the flow especially if the price is right. So I was not bothered by the broken toilet handle when I could walk to all the Old City sights in less tha 10 minutes.

Wir haben uns 3 Zimmer angeschaut alles Katastrophe! Schimmel Wände kommen runter die Betten teilweise kaputt und Bettwäsche mit Flecken. Die Fliesen kleben im Bad…. Wir sind auf unsere Kosten in ein anderes Hotel !!!! Und warten immer noch auf unser Geld von euch (Expedia)

Han som sitter i resepsjon er bare 13 år gammel!! Dårlig renhold, de vasker ikke rommene når man ber om dette. Hotelle hadde ikke strøm i en hel døgn!! Bildene stemmer ikke med det jeg har opplevd i hotelle, anbefaler ikke dette hotelle.

- Verified traveler (6/5): You get what you pay for - The view was great! We had a view of a mosque and the ocean in the distance so that was nice! However, the room did not seem like it was cleaned. The sheets had stains all over them, the comforter they gave us was tiny, and we weren’t given any sheets other than one laying on top of the mattress. The toilet paper also had some small bugs on it so we did not feel comfortable using it.

- Markus (8/5): In the Heart of the Happening - The room and bathroom is small but clean. But all we were looking for was a place close to the happening so we could in a short time (2 days) get to know Istanbul A BIT (not that this is ever possible especially not in two days :-) ) . This is in a five minute walk to the tram station - the best way to getting around in the Old City and beyond (we find). In 10 min walking distance from the Aya Sofya and the 'Blue Mosque' as well as other attractions i.e. the Cisterns and the Grand Bazaar. The breakfast was good with a good variety and a FANTASTIC view over the water and parts of the city - WOW!

- abir (8/5): - The service and the staff at old city sultanahmet hotel was incredible. They were super nice. I arrived at the hotel 7 in the morning and I found my room ready and they also gave me breakfast which was not paid at the reservation. they also called us 5 a.m to wake us up to go to the airport and they offered coffee. everyday, they give us information about how and where to go and they gave us their private number so we can call them any time when we are outside for help. I highly recommend it.

- Hugo (8/5): Cheap place in great location - It is a good, little hotel in a great location and cheap. Very limited room service, basically you get new towels every day but nothing else done. Free breakfast, not too bad, and a great view from the roof terrace. The room was small and the WiFi was bad, but I would stay there again.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Cheap hotel with hygiene issues! - Cheap hotel close to the main sights in Sultanahmet and the hotel has a very nice terrace, on the top floor with nice view on the sea. But... Cleaning was done maybe once every 3 days. Dust was collecting under the furnitures. WiFi not working in the room most of the time. And animals (rats? mices?) could be heard at night in the ceilings... Major hygiene issue!! (At the moment thw hotel faces a construction site and is also pretty noisy)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Istanbul May 2018 - The service at the hotel is amazing. Someone is always at the front desk to help you. Mustafa is very nice and helpful. I checked out but my flight was at 9 and wanted to spend a bit more time in Istanbul so they watched over my things for me (thanks guys!). My things were really heavy and they helped me carry it all to my taxi when it was time to leave. The hotel has an amazing view from the breakfast room upstairs. The hotel is within walking distance from every sight you need to see. THe Blue Mosque is only a 5 minute walk down the street. I never took a taxi once- I just walked.The hotel is a bit older and not so clean, but it is manageable and clean enough. I paid around $38 CAD when I went to Istanbul in May, so for the price I really wasn’t complaining at all, especially since I really only came back to the hotel to sleep at night. The wifi worked well. Overall I had a really good experience. Definitely a good hotel for travellers on a budget. Would consider staying again if I was in Istanbul.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Charged twice!Feedback from a disappointed tourist - Everything about the hotel was nice until the last day the receptionist charged us more than we expected. But anyway we thought we liked a lot of things in the hotel. But when we came back home, my credit card was charged again! And when we paid by cash at the reception, they didn't give us any receipt, just took the money. So, if you want to stay here, don't give them any details about your credit card and ask for your receipt every time you pay. I'm not sure now if I can have my money back because certainly there's no response to my letter from the hotel.

- Giselle (6/5): Good for the price - We were on the anex building that is like 8 min walking from the real hotel. Even though there is always someone there to help you. They dont accept credit cards you have to pay in cash. Breakfast costs 5 euros and it's served in another hotel that is just right across the street (buffet: eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese, jam, cereals, fruits, coffee, tea, chocolate, artificial juice). 7 min walk to the bazar and Beyazit metro station and 15 - 20 min walk to Santa Sophias church and the Blue Mosque. It's easy to get there from the airport by metro. The street were the building is located felt unsafe at nights specially if you come from the bazar but nothing really happened. Nice shoes fabriques were you can get really cheap prices in this street. Water heating in the room...if you take a long shower the next person has to wait like half an hour until the water gets warm again. The staff is really helpful. Overall it was good, the only hotel near to everything that was affordable, but of course there are much better hotels if u pay more.

- George (2/5): There were no rooms when we got there! - When we got to the hotel we were told that it was fully booked (we booked 5 rooms) and they offered alternative apartment accommodation (3 beds per apartment, open space!) We had to find alternative accommodation at 20:30 at night for 5 rooms, not a very nice experience.

The barroom ceiling was dripping of disgusting black water right over the shower, the towels were disgusting with staines (supposedly clean), and the breakfast was a couple of supermarket cookies and 2 vegetables. Ooh and they insisted on being paid in cash and didn't take my credit cards so had to go to ATM to withdraw money therefore being charged overseas ATM fees. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL !!
- Hyder (8/5): Good Location, Excellent View, Helpful Staff - The hotel is very close to a tram stop and just a short walk away from many of Istanbul's historic sites. It features breakfast on the rooftop, which boasts a stunning view of the Sea of Marmara. My parents and I stayed in a triple room, which was relatively cramped but clean and comfortable. Finally, even though we (thought that we) paid for the reservation ahead of time online, the hotel insisted on receiving payment in cash upon departure. This is not a terrible burden, but it could lead to some confusion and inconvenience. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.

This led to an embarrassing confrontation with management as we terminated our stay after one night. We found a much better hotel The Legend around the corner.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Review of Old City Sultanamet hotel - We arrived at the hotel to be told our booking was not valid as we had guaranteed with a non-valid credit card. This was not the case - the card was valid and we showed confirmation from Expedia. We were told there were no rooms but they could put us up in their sister hotel, which was double the price! Needless to say we found our own hotel. Recommend Expedia to check and see if this was done before by this hotel, and if so to delist!!

I was severely bitten by bed bugs, I didn't even manage to sleep in the bed, just lied down on top of it for a while. When I demanded to be moved to another room they agreed with hesitation, no apologies were offered, nothing like that. They tried to move me to lower standard room despite my booking being for a sea view. It wasn't much better in the next room. I counted over 70 bites all over my body, please check the photo of some bites attached. It's an absolute nightmare to get all my clothes and luggage bug free now, since many of it it's an expensive Merino wool stuff heating or hot wash is impossible. I ruined one garment already worth over 200$. And all Old City Sultanahmet stuff's reaction was "It's not our fault, somebody must have let the window open and let the bed bugs in!" No discount, no apologies, nothing. I'm sure that not all the rooms have bed bugs and the location was very good but it's definitely not worth the risk! Absolutely horrible experience!
- Ariane (10/5): Close to must-see sights, friendly, modest - The staff was friendly, especially after I tried speaking a few words in Turkish. They were also helpful at directing me towards good, cheap restaurants in the area, and organized tours. The place was kept fairly clean, though some maintenance would be required to have it look better. Excellent breakfast (included) with beautiful views over the Bosphorus river from the top of the building. The 1-person beds in my 2-person bedroom were comfortable, and the shower (no bathtub) in my private bathroom had hot water. The linens looked clean as did the towels. Everything I could possibly ask for. Great value for the price, and excellent location.
- Verified traveler (4/5): disappointing - Even though the staff were quite accomodating, the overall condition of this hotel is not good. It is in desperate need of refurbishment and also the overall cleanliness was not satisfactory. Breakfast was not great either. However, the price is quite low and hotels in Istanbul are not cheap. As long as you are prepared for all the the above, travellers may find it OK given the price, but we would not choose to stay there again any time soon. On the positive side, the location is brilliant and the staff are very helpful. The view from the breakfast room was also wonderful. One thing they need to improve quite urgently -at least- is the level of cleanliness, we found hair on the bedsheets on the first room we were given and in general bathroom and rooms could have been cleaner.
- Verified traveler (8/5): friendly staff, fantastic location.. - very convienent location, friendly staff; but breakfast - just average, food not fresh, re-served from the fridge on the other morning; there were problems with AC - heating is not working, so I wouldn't recommend to stay here during a cold season... beware to be overcharged during check-out - they've tried to charge me for a phone I've never used... do not go to cafe next door Why not - very overpriced...
- Abir (10/5): Will go again - The hotel is located near all attractions. The room was little small but we spent all the time outside. The staff are very helpful.
- SS (6/5): Istanbul 11 - The New Pelda hotel was average, the rooms were fairly small and the bathrooms even smaller (I had the superior room overlooking the bosphorous so it was the best room at the hotel). Having said that the rooms were clean and staff friendly and helpful. The location was great as it was a short walk to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. Although one does get woken up at 5am for the call to prayer everyday. I highly recommend going across to the tea houses which are close by...one of them is next to the tram station closest to the hotel i.e. 'Cemberilitas'. Also the full day cruise was great. Definitely go to Taksim Square at night...shops are open everyday till late night.....we were there till 11pm and all the stores were open. Also recommend that you go to Topkapi and Hagia Sofia early to beat the crowds and do note that some of the monuments are closed on certain days.
- John (10/5): More than I expected - The hotel staff provide a 5 star service to the hotel guests and makes sure that they are taken care of. They are very welcoming and very hospitable. We arrived at the hotel in the morning and they offered us hot drinks and breakfast right away, and they took care of our baggage. They also arranged airport transport and a wake up call. Location is great, not far from the top sites. Quiet neighborhood.
