Guest Reviews
- Kirstin (10/5): Rooms in a local pub! - Staying above a local pub in Central London is such a fun experience. Super personable, great food, and you only need to walk downstairs to be in a neighborhood watering hole!
- Dean (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay. It was a great location within an easy walk of the Kings Cross/St. Pancras station, even with large travel suitcases. The room was nice, simple, clean. The breakfast and dinner were both fantastic.
- Sandra (10/5): - Very good accommodation, on a quiet street. The room was more functional than many of the newer hotels we have stayed in. The full English served in the bar (also available in-room) was very tasty. Excellent central location for transit and train links. Staff were lovely too!
- Don (10/5): - This was a surprising find. We booked it for a one night layover. It was "off the beaten path" and a bit of a hike from the train station (with luggage). Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and hospitable. Dinner and breakfast was very good. The biggest surprise was that the Harrison has an entertainment venue in the basement (comedy the evening we were there). I recommend this place.
- Desmond (8/5): - The staff were amazing, but the hotel rooms are old with very thin walls. Large size room, but needs a refresh / modernizer. Great location near to train station and many different restaurants.
- Michelle (10/5): - Friendly welcome, property was clean and in a convenient location it’s not the prettiest area but it was super quiet and the included breakfast was spot on.
- vicky (10/5): - Fab stay local to station and very pleasant atmosphere would highly recommend
- Caroline (10/5): - Friendly place, with clean space and very good breakfast. Great alternative to a big hotel.
- Paul (10/5): - Nice comfortable hotel. Quiet and restful
- Rebecca (10/5): - The bartenders gave recommendations for our road trip to Wales and traveling up to the Isles of Scotland - it would have been a totally different trip if we hadnt made our first stop in london the Harrison. It has been one of the greatest trips, the food was great there and the room was comfy as well. Must stay in the London area! Cant wait to go back.
- Paul (10/5): - Great atmosphere (quiet room above above a neighborhood pub) with super friendly staff and excellent food!
- T2256QHpaulb (10/5): A hidden gem - Spotless room located above a charming pub (but no noise travels to the third floor rooms) with delicious cooked-to-order breakfast each morning. Great location near mass transit. Entire staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Not really a hotel but a four-room bed & breakfast with great atmosphere!
- Neil (8/5): - The people who were running the pub and hotel were wonderful. The breakfast was in the pub in the morning, and it was delicious. The room itself is fairly small and is badly in need of an update. That being said, it was clean. The shower was like a small pod that if you were a larger person, you wouldn't be able to use. The furniture was worn. The bed was small, and I didn't like the size and thickness of the pillows. The internet wasn't working while we were there. Since it is a pub, I realized there would be noise until it closed and with no air conditioning, we had the windows open so you could hear the people outside. Also, it wasn't soundproofed from the other rooms. It was a great value for the price but don't expect a 4 star experience. Again, the staff were fantastic.
- Stephen (10/5): - I messed up on our date of departure. Received a nice call from owner and she was able to cheerfully accommodate us.
- TIMOTHY (10/5): - Great staff!
- Donna (8/5): - Good location, the pub downstairs was really nice. The building is old and the room was small but adequate. Really appreciated the toiletries and tea/kettle. Staff were excellent…friendly & helpful! Overall a nice vibe. You definitely need to have good mobility as the rooms are at the top of a narrow staircase. Check in/out was seamless.
- Tony (8/5): - Nice room with popular pub downstairs.
- Lisa (10/5): - Location was wonderful and the neighborhood pub under our room was the perfect entry to London. Stairs aren’t for the faint of heart but regular walkers should have no issues. Staff was marvelous and room was comfy.
- Ian (10/5): - It is good to be away from the generic hotel experience. The Harrison had plenty of character and all members of staff made us feel welcome.
- Thomas (10/5): - Loved staying here! Wonderful pub, and one of the few great places to stay near Kings Cross and Euston. Will warn
- Janina (8/5): - I was great!! Loved the breakfast. Room was clean and quiet and staff was kind.
- Seaside578205 (10/5): Great experience - Stayed for 4 nights in March. The rooms are simple, comfortable and very clean. There are really no frills but again comfortable. The real experience is being in a fun pub with a wonderful friendly staff. The staff was very friendly, helpful and made our stay a lot of fun. The location is a 10 min light walk to Kings Cross so in a great location. The food was fantastic and we enjoyed the beer and atmosphere every night. I really wish this was my local pub. The We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay again.
- D2919FTmarko (10/5): Completely satisfying 36 hour stay in London. We will be back. - Friendly and relaxed but very customer-focused and efficient. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The service in the bar - for food and drinks - was excellent. The breakfast was exceptional: quickly served, exactly as ordered, and really good quality food.
- Clare (10/5): - This was my second time staying at The Harrison, and it's a great option for an overnight if you're on a late or early train from St. Pancras or Kings Cross. Great authentic pub vibe and lovely helpful staff. Highly recommend!
- Neil (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Lovely breakfast. The largest family room we've stayed in and was lovely and warm. We would stay again
- Christine (8/5): - Very convenient to train station, nice, cozy quiet room, very good breakfast.
- GC41 (8/5): Scrumptious tasty food! - We went to The Harrison for our staff Christmas lunch and had a great time! Dinner was perfectly cooked, great portions with extra vega, roast potatoes nice and crunchy and lots of yummy gravy! Stock a great selection of beers and staff very friendly, great time all round!
- Daniel (10/5): Excellent service and a lovely room - First review on here as I don't dish them out easily. The pub was really busy when I arrived due to Christmas parties but they afforded the time to deal with me to make sure I was settled and showed me to the room - which was excellent.
Communication was great, they were welcoming throughout and a lovely breakfast in the morning.
- elementario (6/5): A lovely pub with (mostly!) good prices! - A really nice pub with great staff and good food. The only reason I’m giving it 4/5 is that we were charged FOUR POUNDS EIGHTY for a pineapple juice and soda! Utterly ridiculous!!! Despite that, we’re regulars and we will be back (although it’s only £5 for a pint of Amstel - we’ll avoid the soft drinks in future!)
- Stephen (10/5): - A nice London Inn close to train station - but much nicer than most of other options. Staff are lovely - very welcoming. Food good - we eat there in the evening as well as having breakfast. Room nice and bed very comfortable. Beer is also good.
- Gina (10/5): - I absolutely loved the experience of staying in a B&B located above the Pub. I happened to be there during a Comedy Night, and it was not too bad. I'll definitely come back. Cheers!
- Geraldine (8/5): Welcoming hospitality - Ideal location near yo King’s Cross Station. Small but clean room with toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer. Delicious breakfast cooked to order, plus other options and as much teas and coffee as you like which can be eaten in the dining room or your bedroom. Friendly and helpful staff who are welcoming and are happy to give advice if you have any questions or concerns. You are welcome to leave your luggage either before you check or after if you are not leaving London straight away.
- Sookietje (10/5): Splendid dinner with a homey touch! - Excellent food, good service, very friendly welcome and feels like home! Good portions and good location (not far from King’s cross).
We had fish & chips, delicious, not too greasy. The Sunday toast was scrumptious! Sticky toffee pudding was divine! The banoffee was quite sweet and yummie! Chocolate sorbet was also very good.
- Joseph (6/5): - Great hotel and pub. However, there is a homeless problem in the neighborhood and police activity during the night. I never felt unsafe but quite a bit of noise outside the windows.
- Pamela (10/5): - Great stay would definitely come back! Amazing food in the pub!
- Beverley (8/5): Highly recommend - Lovely pub, staff really nice, very clean. Location excellent, breakfast was very nice. Didn’t find bed or pillows comfortable, however would still highly recommend The Harrison.
- DavidC20237 (10/5): Great Homely accomodation - At the end of a 5 week tour we arrived to stay until our flight back toNZ. Initially the hotel appeared a bit outdated compared to what we had experienced on our trip but within half and hour our opinion changed. The room had all we could need and the warm reception from the staff underlined the quality of the place. Breakfast was a delight with and our hostess helped kick off the day well with both her service and advice. Close to both Kings Cross and St Pancras Station plus bus routes etc
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location and service - Great location close to King’s Cross and quiet at night. We received a warm welcome and excellent support from the staff. Breakfast was generous and fresh! The room is comfortable and clean, overall a great stay.
- peggy (8/5): - Sheila greeted us on arrival. Sophia to Tomir, and other staff were all friendly and helpful.,
Very clean Rm 4. Despite being on top of pub, noise subsided at unknown hour but we fell asleep at 9 pm. Quiet at 11 pm.
Very close to train and subway stations. Less than 10 min walk.
- shackelton (10/5): Like staying at a B&B! - We were looking for an alternative to an expensive hotel and this was perfect, with just a few rooms located above a pub. The Harrison is conveniently located in a quiet area not far from King’s Cross station. There is good access to the Underground and bus stops within a short walk of 3-4 blocks. Our room was spacious and clean. A delicious full English breakfast was included (or, alternatively, you could select other items and dietary restrictions were accommodated). There is a nice pub on the ground floor which has excellent food and beer. While the pub can get crowded in the evening, the noise always died down by the time we wanted to go to sleep. Our host, Sheila, was extremely nice and accommodating — she really made our stay enjoyable. In sum, staying at the Harrison was like staying at a B&B — small, relaxing and pleasurable. We will definitely stay here again as an alternative to the big tourist hotels or expensive boutique hotels.
- S1492DZdenises (10/5): Highly recommend - We stayed for a night after a long-haul flight. We found the staff friendly and the room to be extremely clean with nice crisp white bedding and towels - We had 3 different versions of breakfast (delivered to our room) - the full English, the vegetarian and the vegan, all of which were delicious and very filling
It’s a 10 minute walk to King's Cross.
Highly recommend.
- J. (8/5): - This is not a hotel. It’s an inn with very few rooms above a pub. Expedia should make that clear in their description. A three story walk up with no “hotel” amenities is fine if that’s what you expect but you would never know that based on how it is described on Expedia website.
- Joseph (10/5): Pleasant stay at the Harrison - Clean room, liberal left luggage policy, cozy pub, pleasant manager, convenient to St. Pancras, King's Cross and Euston train stations.
- NorthernReivers12 (10/5): Highly recommended - We stayed here for a city break of 4 nights and would definitely return. It’s small, friendly, extremely clean, and the food is really good - very fresh and generous breakfasts, and a nice choice of pub food in the evening.
It’s also a short walk from King’s Cross and near to bus stops for exploring.
Highly recommended.
- Sameer Kumar Venkata (10/5): Nice Budget hotel - Nice budget hotel (no lift, nothing fanc) above a nice pub. very friendly people and clean, cost room about 10 mts from Kings Cross station
- Melanie (10/5): Hidden Gem - Our second time staying here and we love it.
A great base if you are happy to be out of inner London.
We walked to our theatre show which was approx 35 mins walk.
The rooms are basic but clean and the breakfast is amazing!
We ate in the bar Sat evening too and the food was delicious.
All of the team work very hard to create a friendly, welcoming vibe and hopefully they will overcome the struggle to potential closure later this year.
- Andi (10/5): - When booking a small English hotel this is *exactly* what I was looking for. Little neighborhood pub on the ground floor (excellent food, BTW), quirky little hallway up the winding staircase to our room. Clean, super hot water, tea in room. I was extremely bummed to miss breakfast due to an early flight. Also easy walk from the train station!
- Daniel (8/5): - A very quaint stay in Central London. Very near King’s Cross train station (convenient).
Good pubs and food options and lots to see around there.
Nice neighborhood. It’s a hotel above a really cool pub/venue.
Breakfast was awesome!
We recommend this spot and would stay again.
- Lawrence (10/5): - Great location- close to transportation and walkable to many attractions. Room was basic, but breakfast and staff were wonderful. One of my favorite pubs for dinner when we travel to London.
- James (10/5): - Excellent location and space. Close to transportation, yet private. The pub is lively, convenient, and very quiet after 10pm.
- Kimberlykernow (10/5): Little gem - We stumbled across this place on our way back to St Pancras after a trip to the theatre. The staff were so kind, helpful and friendly. They charged my phone which has run out and directed us back to the station. We had a bite to eat which was tasty. Finding this place was the perfect end to our day !
- Julie (6/5): - When visiting we expected th Harrison to be of excellent standard from the Hotel.com website, unfortunately we were disappointed after what we had spent. My main issues were that the bathroom smelled of waste all of the time, breakfast was good and good but not excellent
- Louise (10/5): - Perfect place to stay in London, friendly staff, lovely comfortable room and the breakfast was delicious. The Harrison is my new favourite place to stay in London.
- geek331984 (10/5): Great christmas meal - We had our christmas meal here, which was about 18 of us.
We had the basement area to our self and could connect our phone to the speakers which was really nice. The food was amazing, so much food and so good. We also had mince pies and chocolates put on the table after the meal.
The staff could not do enough for us, they were great. Also 2 people were ill and we had contacted them before and that was not an issue for them.
- Nick (10/5): - Lovely welcoming rooms above a pub. The staff were very helpful, even offering to take my bags upstairs for me. The room (3) was a good size with en-suite and desk. It’s a short walk from King’s Cross station. I would stay here again
- annamH8503OS (10/5): Yummy Sunday Roast - We went last minute for Sunday Roast. The beef was amazing, cooked perfectly with a nice amount, fantastic Yorkshire pudding, lovely roast potatoes, veg and gravy, would have been nice to have more veg znd roasts, we still felt hungry. Asked for a little extra gravy and charged £2, I've never been charged extra for gravy anywhere else However, we asked if we could pay extra for a small plate of beef for our dog, which they did and only charged £3, so this made up for it. Missing a trick with not offering Cauliflower cheese as an extra side upsell.
- Alison (6/5): - The property was good as far as location goes to St Pancreas station. We found the shower facilities very small, it must also be noted that room access is via some very steep narrow stairs - there doesnt appear to be lift facilities. We sre not sure if we hit a particularly busy night at the pub but until the bar closed it was noisy.
- Shirley (8/5): - Nice hosts, clean rooms, very good location
- TouringChrisC (8/5): Great breakfast - What a lovely place. The room was a little dated but it was clean and comfortable. The pub downstairs is friendly and the staff are great. The breakfast was excellent one of the best I've ever had. Would definitely stay here again.
- Kimberly (10/5): - What a charming hotel over a bustling pub. Wish we had more time to spend here.
- Nabeel (10/5): - Nice room and very friendly staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a gem! The pub had such a local flavor, bohemian. It was lively, with locals patronizing the pub. Sunday roast beef dinner was excellent. It was a hidden gem. We will recommend to others.
- KAREN (10/5): - What a gem! The pub had such a local flavor, bohemian. It was lively, with locals patronizing the pub. Sunday roast beef dinner was excellent. It was a hidden gem. We will recommend to others.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Okay for one night, but noisy - Sweet place to stay...not quiet (above a bar) and also no AC (so windows must stay open, contributing to the noise issue. Also, long staircase to get to first floor.
Really nice greeting and easy check in though. Room was clean and served its purpose.
- Nimbin59 (10/5): Local loveliness - Loved everything about this place:
Location a short walk from st pancras/ kings cross, but on a quiet street
Price point extremely reasonable
Food: delicious breakfast included, and dont miss the sunday roast !
Vibe: local pub with live music on sundays
Rooms: comfy and attractive
Will definitely return when next in the city!
- B6984JKkimv (10/5): Great and lovely staff, great food and a cozy venue. - The staff members are great, they make the best food en will serve you your nice Cold beer with a smile.
The beds are good, the shower a bit difficult to handle. Eventhough you're sleeping above a pub, you won't notice when you are going to sleep.
Everything is tidy and clean. Would definitly reccomend!
- Linda (10/5): Love ❤️ The Harrison - Love the friendly atmosphere at this place. Small pub downstairs was great for dinner and drinks.
- Anke (10/5): - Second stay here. Best find ever!
- Sharon (10/5): - Nice place close to Kings Cross. Quiet street. Room above a pub so a little noisy until closing time but that’s part of the appeal. Don’t stay here if stairs are an issue for you.
- Jerry (10/5): - Nice pub with a good atmosphere rooms basic but everything we needed. We were in room 4 and wasn’t t disturbed by noise from the pub customers
- Mark (10/5): - lol Ayer above a pub so go in and they can help you. 10 minutes to the underground. Good accommodations. English breakfast was good.
- John (10/5): - Perfect place great food and superb rooms
- Michael (10/5): Hidden Gem - The welcome at The Harrison was fantastic, Jane was really friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean and comfortable. Lication is fantastic, really close to Euston and Kings cross stations. Food & drink was great. I'd definitely stay here again when visiting London.
- Hanna (8/5): - I chose The Harrison because it seemed different than a standard run of the mill hotel and was reasonably close to Russel square where I needed to be. In terms of appearance and room quality facility it more than met expectations (wasn't too expensive either), as this was an older building where much effort has gone to convert it to modern standards. The pub downstairs was great, with excellent food and value and the breakfast was very nice indeed (for me a simple breakfast is all I wanted and there were plenty of choices). It was ready on time too per instructions. The check-in, which was late (after 11PM arrival from the airport) was helpful and though the room was upstairs, with steep staircase, they helped me with my luggage. I didn't mind otherwise the upstairs location as it was quiet and generally comfortable). The staff found an adapter for me the next morning which I needed too, so that worked out.
For those looking for something a little different and a touch of the old local London unburdened by too many tourists this facility is great. The taxi they ordered for me was there on time and reasonably priced (20 pounds less than the trip from the airport!). It's also a nice walk to the Russel center area but takes a bit longer than specified (about 18 minutes to Russel square) but still, it's a pleasant residential area of central London to walk through.
The main reason for 1 star less than I'd give, is the shower which remained too hot, no matter what I tried.
- Paul (8/5): Basic accommodations with a good vibe. - Location was great for proximity to transportation and the pub is very friendly and a nice vibe. Room is bare bones but hey you are in London and the price is right. Breakfast is ready when you are. Note: if you want to go to bed before 23:00 and it is summer you will get noise from below. And because no air conditioning you have to keep windows open. Pub makes good food and it’s a good deal and fun.
- Carol (10/5): - I always enjoy the Harrison.
- Christopher (10/5): - Excellent location just 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross. Fantastic breakfasts with fresh fruit, and full english breakfast.
- Ruben (10/5): Delightful Inn above a pub. - Loved our stay at the Harrison. It is not a 4-star hotel but it is without a doubt a comfortable, clean, friendly place to stay. We arrived after an overnight flight from California and the person who greeted us stopped what he was doing carried our bags up the stairs, and immediately when he found out we wouldn’t be able to make breakfast ensured that we had take away food for the morning. We booked a table for dinner, and loved the environment. While there may be a pub restaurant on the ground floor, the noise did not move upstairs. It is close to change is cross, and really easily able to get there for our morning training. I would without a doubt stay there again, and this time make sure I got the hot breakfast.
- James (10/5): Great location - Wonderful location and great local pub hotel. Very good breakfast & lovely friendly atmosphere & service.
- Melanie (10/5): Hidden gem - Fantastic location, welcoming staff, room basic but immaculate. Breakfast amazing!!
- Debra (8/5): - The staff were wonderful. The hotel is above a pub and it was too noisy to sleep well.
- judy (8/5): - The Harrison Hotel is a simple place. Clean, secure, well located. Breakfast was great.
- Victor (10/5): Would recommend staying at The Harrison - Was visiting London for the weekend with my son and stayed one night at the Harrison. Really friendly staff, lovely pub and great food.
- Helen (10/5): Harrison Hotel - Room was clean. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and so was meal in the bar. Would definitely stay again.
- Anke (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Warm and welcoming, clean and convenient, entertaining and enjoyable. Thank you for making our stay so special
- Michael (8/5): - A small, 4 bedroom hotel with a pub below. The rooms are small but clean and the staff was excellent.
- Aleksandra (8/5): Clean room, friendly staff and poor location - The stay was ok. Room was very clean and service mega friendly and helpful but in general it was an average pub hotel located around social residential flats.
- Alexandra T (10/5): Highly recommend - Very happy with the Harrison. The woman who checked me in was incredibly friendly and so helpful throughout the stay. I didn't realise breakfast was included and that was such a nice touch. My room including the bed and pillows was very comfortable, a good size, and quite quiet especially for this neighborhood. The shower pressure was a bit weak, but the water was warm. I would definitely stay here again.
- GRETCHEN (10/5): Loved this place. - Cozy room above a cute neighborhood pub. Delightful host and great food! Short walk to kings cross station.
- Faye (10/5): - This was charming and great for our needs (one night between travel, needing to stay somewhere relaxed near St Pancras). The people who work there are so friendly and the breakfast is great in such a sweet little pub. Very cozy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Saxon wheels of steel - Great breakfast
Great value for money
Lovely clean room
Hot shower
Great choice of beer in bar
- Thomas (10/5): - A very comfortable stay, shower was nit that powerful. However the staff could not do enough for you, good breakfast. I would highly recommend this establishment.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Nice relaxing stay, great location, lovely breakfast
- Jeff (8/5): Charming Little Establishment - Nice and convenient location just a short walk from St. Pancreas Intl. Station. Quiet little neighborhood with a warm and friendly pub/restaurant downstairs. Rooms were comfortable enough for a short stay. Staff was what stood out most. They were wonderful. Dinner and breakfast was wonderful. Would stay again if I were in this area in the future.
- Renata (10/5): - Great staff! Thank you
- Michael (8/5): Great little hotel near St Pancras. - Great little hotel near St Pancras. Very welcoming, nice people.
- Robert (8/5): - Property was basic, but very good. It had everything that was needed and was clean and presentable. Staff were really helpful.
- Nicholas (10/5): - Cozy and simple lodgings above a pub. Friendly and welcoming staff. Delicious breakfast.
- Sara (10/5): - What a great little find, nice little pub off the main street so nice and quiet. Friendly staff, due to a change of plans let me take my luggage and drop it off 24 hours before check in! Breakfasts are amazing. About the only negative would be can you put a hook for towels and clothes in the bathroom?
- Hollie (10/5): - Loved our stay here. The staff were kind and helpful! The room was clean and they offered complimentary breakfast and wifi. You do have to walk up three flights of a narrow stairway to your rooms which carrying heavy luggage up could be difficult, the man who checked us in did offer to help with the bags!
It’s a little farther of a walk to kings cross station than advertised on the booking. It said around the corner, more like half mile around the corner. And some of the streets you walk on are dirty and a little sketchy.
The bar is a popular place on the weekend and the windows open up to the street below, but they close at 11pm so things quieted down quickly!
Over all our stay was nice and would consider staying here again!
