shannonhN9834HN (6/5): Basic & budget hotel - This is a very budget hotel, it served its purpose however it is not somewhere I would recommend to anyone. First is due to the location, please simply do your research, the hotel is located in the middle of the city, it is next to streets which are full of homeless and drugs, I witnessed people using as-well as drug deals happening in broad day light. The streets are quite dirty with what appeared to be human excrement on the pavements and a strong smell of urine down most of the nearby streets. The hotel itself is basic but if you just need a place to get your head down, it is however clean and perfect for just that. In terms of the room, this was likely down to me simply misreading the information before booking the hotel, whilst it is not the end of the world, there are no tea & coffee making facilities in the room, it is slightly annoying but you’ll live. They also have lights in the room which are intended to be moved about however, upon trying to bend this as designed, it was not fully attached to the wall and if this had of been pulled on much harder or moved, would of come straight out of the wall. I also used one of the plug sockets at the far end of the room, however when trying to take out my plug, pulled the socket covering off which is not ideal. Information regarding the room also states ‘Air-con’ however this was difficult to use and could only get this to work once, when I spoke to reception about this, they said at this time of year it should not work and can only be used for ‘hot air’. I am from the UK and the temperatures over here were up to 18. We really did struggle with the heat in the room. The food was basic but it was nice enough, I’ve had worse but equally I have had better. They had options such as a savoury, hot, cereal and fruit breakfast so yes there is something there for everyone. They had a variety of options for dinner too which were nice. We didn’t have lunch so I cannot comment on that. I cannot fault the staff, they are friendly and welcoming and more than happy to help in terms of arranging transportation around the city and any other enquires/information you may need. Please note that the issues in the room did not effect are stay but I feel should still be taken into consideration when booking a hotel. The other thing to consider too is if you are looking for something quiet then this is not the hotel for you. The rooms are supposed to be soundproof however even with the windows shut the city is loud at night. I could hear someone snoring from another room (Yes, they were incredibly loud). There were also two school trips here during our 4 night stay. This hotel just wasn’t for us but as mentioned serves it’s purpose for something that is basic and if you are on a budget.
polo22 (8/5): Nice centrally located Hotel with Rooftop Bar and Pool. - We stayed there 4 nights as part of a family reunion for 12 people. the Hotel is centrally located and nearby the metro station which is very easy to use. the main sightseeing ( Olympic stadium, Acropolis, Klappa etc) are all just 20-30mn walks away The rooms are nice and we found the beds comfy. great water pressure in the shower. The highlight is the roof top bar with view on the acropolis and a small pool to chill out. Nice menu with the rooftop bar and nice cocktails too. Buffet at night downstairs is OK. Breakfast is very nice with cold and hot food. tip: Get a room on the side of the hotel as main street can be noisy. great staff throughout the hotel, and reception opened 24/7.
Paris (8/5): - The staff was really lovely. The pool on the roof I think is the best part of this place and they have a nice breakfast in the morning. The rooms are a little dated but OK. The only complaint I really have is the pillows were horrible so it was hard to sleep.
YAN (10/5): - The hotel is located in the center of Athens, close to the subway station, convenient to attractions, with excellent facilities, cleanliness and excellent service. The front desk service is particularly excellent, and George is particularly warm and considerate in his hospitality, so I highly recommend this hotel.
Julaine (8/5): - A welcoming hotel with very helpful staff. Well located for the metro. We did walk to various destinations from the hotel during the day and didn't experience any problems. However, the area is not the best especially at night so probably best to use the Metro at such times. Great rooftop pool and bar with views of the Acropolis.

Xiuping (10/5): - Very nice hotel, the service people is very nice and responsible. The breakfast is super good! Close to metro station, but it is not a hub station, you need change tram most of time. But it is directly 4 stops go to Acropolis. It is more than worth the dollars you paid. Excellent hotel, would recommend.

Barbara (10/5): Highly Recommend - I would highly recommend staying here. The staff were wonderful and the amenities equally so. The patio has a great view, and the pool (albeit small) was perfect on a hot August afternoon. When it got too hot, the inside bar and lounge area were comfortable to hang out. The room was small (we had two twins), but efficient. Easy access to the subway. Oh, and the breakfast buffet was beyond imagination. Very good.

The rooms were spacious and nice (the beds were a little hard for us) The view from the rooftop is so beautiful! And the dinner/drinks were some of the best we had our whole 2 week trip! Highly recommend the restaurant! The breakfast display was large and very good!! We did a hop on/hop off tour and it picked up very very close. So we loved the convenience. The taxi drivers would tell us it wasn’t the “best area” but we didn’t have any issues and it was my 23 yr old daughter and I. I would stay here again if I came back
richard (10/5): Great hotel - The room was large and modern. Breakfast was top quality with lots to choose from. Rooftop bar with swimming pool was fantastic. Great view of the Acropolis and reasonable price drinks.
Mark (10/5): - The staff were excellent, the food was very good and the view from the rooftop to the Acropolis can’t be beat. The hotel however is in an a depressed area of the city. It was only a 20 minute walk to the Plaka and Acropolis area but you have to walk through the area that is depressed. That is not the fault of the hotel but it is something to take note of for families.

Dimitris and the lady at the front desk were very friendly with us and made our stay adorable. Also the pool bar is very nice with amazing view and friendly staff.Greetings to christina. briansW7339YA (6/5): A real mixed bag - We stayed as a family for a night either side of a cruise. The hotel is in a very run down area of the city. Turn right out of the hotel and you are greeted with a couple of dozen homeless drug addicts. It would have been helpful if the hotel told us not to turn right. It made the area feel very unsafe. The first stay, the female receptionist was rude. We had just come off an overnight flight and were exhausted but she was only interested in complaining about our early arrival. This was in contrast to the gentleman receptionist on our second visit who couldn’t have been more helpful. Like the staff on the 8th floor terrace, they are what the extra star is for. The rooms are tired and dated and in some cases falling apart. They are worn out and not of 4 star standard. They are clean enough and the showers are fantastic. Breakfast has plenty of choice but the cooked buffet was always cold. Upstairs on the 8th floor, the food was excellent and the feta and beetroot salad was memorable. In conclusion, I would not choose to stay here again, this was a choice made by our travel agent. There were a couple of glimmers of hope with some of the staff and upstairs food, however what this most definitely is not, is a 4 star hotel. I would say between 2-3.

LindyT49 (10/5): Good Base and Good Food. - At first arrival we were a little unsure about this hotel. We arrived early but they were able to get us into a room right away, thankfully. Not having much on the Plane for breakfast we went to the roof top restaurant for lunch which was very good. After unpacking, we went for a swim, the pool is small but it felt great. We were here for 5 nights and really enjoyed it. We toured every day and came back to cool off and swim then had dinner every night on the rooftop. The breakfast was wonderful with something for everyone. Yes there is a little sketchy area a few blocks to the right as you exit the hotel but we always went to the left and we were fine. The staff was very helpful with directions and maps to the various venues. Overall I would recommend this hotel.
Ying (8/5): Athens Stay - People there were friendly and the place is convenient, close to metro or subway. It is walkable to Acropolis. However, the street traffic noise was very aloud during the night.
Brian (8/5): Good location and good hotel - Nice hotel in a good location for visiting Athens, near a metro station 4 stops from Pantheon acroplis pool on the roof and bar and restaurant fòod is reasonably priced and very good for the price. 10 minute walk from a shopping area if you want T shirts, exit hotel turn left and left and left and up the road various shops €5 T shirts are plentiful
Kent (8/5): - The hotel was excellent. It's the area that is the issue. Choices for dining and groceries are limited. The desk clerk warned me to not walk to the right when walking out of the hotel. Of course I had to check it out the next morning. It seems he didn't want guests to see the homeless people camped out about two blocks away.

Ashley (8/5): - The rooftop swimming pool and view was a much welcomed enjoyment and the restaurant bar was extremely accommodating with great prices and a good selection of food that was very well portioned and tasted great. The room is very clean and the overall internals of the hotel were a good standard. Outside and around the area was a bit noisy and congested, but that’s what you get for the middle of the city.

Sandra (8/5): - George on check in was very helpful on checking in late at night. Hotel ideally placed near the Metro and only 4 stops from the centre. Rooftop pool was a real bonus and staff there very efficient. Breakfast was good. Only downside was the surrounding area was on a very busy junction. The double glazing was old and not effective - traffic didn't stop all night - difficult to sleep and we were on a lower floor- but this would apply to any budget hotel in the centre. Newer hotels may have better double glazing. Overall reasonable price for a short stay. Thank you.

Mark (2/5): Stay anywhere but here. - Without doubt the worst place we have ever stayed. The rooms look like they haven’t been renovated for 50 years, it’s in the toughest neighbourhood with 100 homeless drug addicts sleeping rough 50 meters away and the hotel manager was aggressive and threatening.

jmW4093AM (10/5): Ideal base for sightseeing. - Had a two night break in this small well located City centre Hotel recently. Seamless check in with nice friendly receptionist with good English, good local knowledge and agent for Hop on Hop off Bus tickets. Bus has a stop in the nearby square approximately 150 metres away. Foyer very open and small and leads to breakfast room all open plan. Only one lift (quirky paint job) for 8 stories , but no major delays. Rooms probably could do with an upgrade but clean with a comfortable bed. Very nice bar /restaurant seating area on the roof and also a small swimming pool. Fabulous views of the City. Good breakfast with great friendly staff with lessons in making Greek Coffee in hot sand. We would stay again.

vicky1966 (8/5): I would recommend this Hotel - I saw a lot of negativity around the homeless in the area I travelled with my 15 year old Grandson and at no time when we were walking out did we have any issues with these people The hotel has security on the doors pretty much like most hotels these days We were welcomed into the hotel and had a room on the second floor it was a little noisy hence 4 stars The restaurant /bar on the top floor is fabulous staff are amazing food was lovely The view is a must Breakfast was served in a clean environment with loads of choice nice hot coffee Hairdryer In the bathroom packed in they sent a replacement quickly Service A+ Value for money definitely Location close to the bus stops for the trips etc Had all you needed for a city break

DeerUk (8/5): Good basic base - The hotel is situated well into the inner city and there are areas around it which are very run down. It has shops close by and is a good base to see the City. The hotel staff are welcoming and helpful, the rooms are big and have clean but dated furniture and bedding. One towel was dirty but plenty provided as we booked two solo rooms. The shower was really good and cleaned daily. Breakfast was a good range of cooked food, pastries, fruit, cheeses etc and staff are helpful. Again, clean and basic.

Unsafe surrounded by homeless, dirty , noisy and filthy. Do Not book this hotel from the false photos and description False Advertising it is at most a 2 star , i’ve seen better hostels . Poor location, awful hotel and dreadful service. Be warned!
William (10/5): - Location is very convenient to get to the downtown shops and restaurants. Lots of large tours of students can't thru but the staff placed us above them so it was not a problem. The bar and breakfast were excellent. The pool wasn't open is my only complaint but it's unusually cold still. The staff were amazing.

The only issue seams to happen are hobos that hanging out on street behind th hotel. You just need to make a second tour to access city centre which is few minutes farther. Verified traveler (8/5): Great rooms and staff, but no pool or views! - Novus City definitely seems to be one of the nicer hotels in the area, and the staff were really friendly and helpful, seemingly genuinely wanting to make sure our stay was good. The room (we had an executive room on the 6th floor) was spacious, clean, quiet and had a lovely comfy bed. With a couple of extra chairs and plenty of space for 2 people to put their bags and clothes, it made a nice change from most hotels where there's usually barely space for 1 person! There were a few disappointing aspects though, that I feel were rather misleading from the website... Rooms are listed as having city views, but there are non-opening blinds on all the windows, and even if you peek out the cracks, the "city view" in our higher-floor room was a wall and a bus park between us and the next building. The shower in the huge bathroom was broken, so had to be held by hand instead of the "monsoon shower" it was listed as. There was also no extractor fan so it steamed up very quickly in there and towels didn't really dry. The biggest disappointment, however, was the roof terrace and pool, which were one of the main factors for us choosing this hotel. The pool was completely closed and drained for the winter, and in fact absolutely tiny anyway. We couldn't even sit by it and enjoy the view because the area was chained off. The roof terrace - with the lovely views of the city and Acropolis - was closed when it rained but then not opened hours later when it was fine. A great shame!

jameshK1925IA (10/5): Top value Athens hotel - This is the second time this year that I have stayed in the Novus City Hotel. The hotel is well positioned in central Athens and is three minutes for the nearest Metro station. The rooms are comfortable and an excellent breakfast is included following a night's sleep. The hotel is rated 4 star and provides excellent value for money. I would recommend booking as far in advance as possible to obtain the best rate.

sarahdI4662TY (10/5): Great hotel in a great city - I could not fault the hotel it was lovely . From the food to the staff to the rooms it was beautiful. We had rooms 711 and 712 and fabulous view of the acropolis. I had read before I went about the area and yes it is not great at night BUT the hotel has security no one is hanging around the hotel and every day we walked into the square about 20 min walk and all fine just turn left when u come out of the hotel and we got taxis back at night which were between 5 and 6 euro so no bother we just used the free now app and no waiting on taxis .if I was coming back I would definitely stay here again. We had lunch and dinner twice in the hotel and it was delicious. My husband myself and 2 sons 20 and 17 had no complaints with the hotel at all
griffiths994 (2/5): Warzone - Hotel nice enough young staff in rooftop bar pleasant. Bed made and towels changed daily. Plenty of hot water. Breakfast freezing cold every morning, so had toast and coffee. The area is like a war zone. Derelict buildings, dirty, graffiti EVERYWHERE. Don't turn right out of hotel drug addicts sleeping all over the street on mattresses. Found the area totally unsafe. Shame on cruise kings for recommending. I will do my research before believing the travel reps selling the holidays my fault WONT MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN. Scared to venture out at night. Never felt so unsafe walking back to the hotel even in daylight!! Acropolis was packed but worth a visit. Museum was ok. Mironi restaurant poor.
lydiab615 (8/5): Good value, lovely food and good service although a little tired in the bathrooms. I would stay again. - Excellent good value food and good service. We did have quite a nosy room near the lift but I would still recommend the hotel. The hotel is near an underground station and hop on hop off bus stop making it an easy hotel to get anywhere within Athens.

The area outside and to the left was sketchy and there were a lot of homeless people in the alley behind the hotel but no one ever bothered us and it didn’t feel unsafe

The pool is on the rooftop and you get a stunning view of the Acropolis from far away, as well as around Athens. The location is less than 5 minutes walk to the hop on/hop off bus stop. Overall we had a good stay 🙂

Curiosity781950 (8/5): Nice city hotel - We stayed at Novus City Hotel, as two couples, for two nights before we got on our cruise. It’s a nice city hotel, nothing really special but nice. The area it is in, is not for the faint hearted, but every city around the world has the same issues. We didn’t have any problems walking back from the city centre. The hotel has an amazing roof bar, restaurant and pool area, with views we will never forget. Breakfast was good and we ate both nights in the rooftop restaurant, which was excellent. Lastly the staff, could not of been any more polite or helpful.

Watcho46 (4/5): Grubby yet functional and not for the feint hearted! - The hotel describes itself as trendy and modern, even with the rosiest of glasses its grubby yet functional, if you are over 40 this is a simple no no, if you don’t mind prostitution, and other seedy activity there is plenty of that. The area is simply scary, but to be fair other high end hotels are not that far away, the rooms are liveable the beds are sleepable thankfully we are here for 1 night only before a cruise. In positives the front desk service and bar service were both very good, and you got a brilliant view of the acropolis under a full moon from the rooftop. This is one of those stays that the worst experiences are often the best stories

rosmarrym (6/5): Outdated hotel in an unsafe area - First time in Athens! The hotel is located in area which may not be very safe at night.It definitely was below my expectations but we had a positive start as we arrived with a really early flight and they gave us an early check in ,so we had time to relax! Katrin greeted us kindly and made every single detail smooth and easy, gave us ideas for the most interesting places in the city and made our stay pleasant. Also Dimitri was kind and welcoming. both were professional and helpful. Room was poor quality, outdated and the a/c did not work property, bathroom smelled bad. we did not sleep well as pillows were very hard. however it was clean! The worst was the elevator, constanly stuck and out of order. The pool was very small and extremely crossed. There was never anywhere to sit but the view to Acropolis and the rest of the city was Amazing, stunning! The service there was terrible, you could never get anything you need, no one was smiling. Expensive hotel in terms of value for money.
Verified traveler (6/5): Overall good but not great location. - Mixed reviews. Check in staff was wonderful except when it was time for departure the van I ordered with front desk days in advance never showed up. Don’t know if they forgot or was van error (I am sure they will say van error to sound better). I also made bad decision to listen to them on timing of when we needed to leave for airport. We literally boarded 10 minutes before takeoff. When they say 1.5 hours, do not listen! Rooms were spacious and clean. Excellent bathrooms. Had trouble adjusting temps they keep not very cold. And lastly location is bad! Next block up is literally alleyways of heroin/meth junkies by the dozens. Not for solo women or families with young kids. But the price was very reasonable. Very good for those looking for place to stay after long day out. Lovely view of accropolis on rooftop.

Also wasn’t told to walk on the right . Very dangerous , prostitutes., smack heads really scary area . We had to pay 10 euro to go into town

David (4/5): - Lot of homeless outside property so not safest feeling area. Housekeeping did room and removed dirty towels but didn’t replace. Also don’t replace toilet paper, toiletries or bottled water. Went to call reception but phone not working so had to go down for each issue, which to be fair was sorted when reported, however lift not working so was stairs every time. Even on check out morning lift stuck again so had to carry bag down 5 levels. Also had door key card fail once so had to walk down stairs again to desk and have it reset. These minor things but all together accumulation was not the best experience or impression.

Lance (10/5): - Nice hotel and great staff! Very helpful and polite. Good breakfast each morning. Only negative was how bad this part of downtown Athens has become - not the hotel's fault, but my wife did not feel safe outside by herself and I had concerns at night between the homeless and the small groups of immigrants. The hotel itself was great and had security outside. Just use Uber to come and go, especially at night.
Elizabeth F (10/5): Really really nice hotel at a reasonable cost - the staff were amazing, especially Alma and Martha who were so kind to my 18-month-old grandchild. A bit of a slip up regarding twin beds requested, but the queen bed was super comfortable and the room was lovely, and very spacious and clean. It was very hot when we were there so the rooftop pool was super. The array of choices for the buffet breakfast was amazing. We were very pleased with our find of this hotel.

Verified traveler (2/5): Complaint - Hi, It has been the worst experience I never had before. The Hotel is not a 4 stars. It may be 2 stars. The location is the most dangerous of Athen. Drugged people everywhere. I felt unsafe even inside my room. It was late when I arrived and didn’t have any other chances…dangerous during night and day time. You can’t walk on the street I will be happy to provide pictures. I am expecting to be refunded at least the 50% what I paid. Sincerely, Chiara
