Guest Reviews
- Philippe (8/5): 3 nuits dans Central Hong Kong - Central Bruyant le WE
- Melissa (3/5): Disappointment beyond belief - The location was good The foyer smelt so strong it gave me a headache each time.
For a five start hotel, there was no amenities, no bar, the lifts were dodgy and felt like they would break down, the furniture in the room is extremely dated and everything creeks. We came from a five star and I wouldn’t even rate this a 3.
It is also extremely noisy at night time and you won’t be able to sleep as it’s not double glazed. You got no rove, no complementary drinks and no breakfast for the cost you pay. Worth staying elsewhere
- Ian (10/5): Relaxing and fun - Stayed many times before and sometimes it’s really noisy because of the local area. This time it was quiet and relaxing. Room was really nice and staff helpful.
- JEREMY (1/5): Aged, substandard, dirty - Location State if disrepair, cleanliness
- Alex (8/5): -
- Clive (1/5): disappointed and will not recommend to anyone. - location. I had a disappointing stay at this hotel. The mattress was old and uncomfortably hard — it felt worn out and long overdue for replacement. Getting a proper night’s sleep was nearly impossible.
The pillows were just as bad: flat, lifeless, and offering zero support. I woke up with a stiff neck and regret.
For a place that claims to value guest comfort, the basics — bed and pillows — were seriously lacking. I wouldn’t stay here again unless they upgrade their bedding. Sleep is not a luxury; it’s the minimum.
- Joost (8/5): More than adequate for purpose - The hotel is located quite well indeed, mildly close to relevant public transport, and certainly close to many important landmarks, restaurants, shops in downtown Hong Kong. The room was spacious and clean. Adequate for purpose. For tall (me) and elderly (me) persons the bed is set incredibly low to the ground.
- Hunter (8/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): - Location, friendly staff, room layout 3 weirdness things that did affect our stay
Only 2 bath towels supplied and no hand towels? 🙈
Room was cleaned each day but no new toilet rolls left 🙈
Small bin in the bathroom but no bin in the actual bedroom 🙈

- tschimbi1998 (10/5): Wonderful Stay with Excellent Service - I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The hotel is in a great location with lots of lovely restaurants and bars nearby. The breakfast was really good, the room was very nice, clean and comfortable, and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and flexible throughout my stay.
- YUK SING (8/5): Good - Location The facility is a bit old.
- Oren (2/5): Very bad experience - Non No wif , no working phone, broken doors, poor facilities
- Annabel (10/5): A comfortable hotel in a good location - Central location. Clean, comfortable rooms. Staff all very friendly
- barbara (4/5): Not good! - Dont really like the property becos’ it lacks maintenance, dated decor n quite creepy with big drapes on the entrance It is over price n NOT worth what we paid for..
A bad deal n we will not believe in Booking.com’s rating
- Michael (4/5): - Personalen Väldigt trist rum. Väldigt lyhört mellan rummen
- Erhaan (4/5): Convenient location but I will NOT be visiting again. Pick The Pottinger or The Putnam instead. - The location is very convenient if you want to be in Central. It's a short walk to Queen's Road, shopping, restaurants. Good breakfast at Veda and very nice server. 1. Noise - Beware of staying during a weekend. Loud, pumping music from bars/nightclubs in LKF until 4AM. Did not sleep at all until the early hours.
2. Room - I was upgraded to a Gold room. I'd hate to see the standard room. Worn out/stained carpets, wore my shoes as much as possible. Musty smell. Very poor value for money, US$300 for the first night and US$370 for the second.
3. Customer Care - I booked two nights because I arrived on a Friday night and needed to catch a flight on Saturday night so would stay all day Saturday. However, late Friday night my Saturday night flight was cancelled and I had to rebook an early flight out. I checked out at 7AM Saturday morning. Asked the front desk if a credit for the unused second night would be possible. The 72 hour cancellation policy was clear, but I was hoping for a courtesy, even a partial credit would have been appreciated. Attendant said that since I reserved through Booking.com, only they could credit me. I contacted Booking.com and they took action immediately, reaching out to Ovolo but they got no response. They advised me to contact Ovolo directly. Ovolo said they would not make an exception to the policy. Again, I understand the policy, but very disappointing they didn't even try to help me as a courtesy.

- Mario (7/5): A nice place to be close to the nightlife. - Nice size room. Nice bathroom. Clean, the bed was comfortable. Busy neighborhood with the music from the bars. If you are looking for a quiet place that’s not for you. It did not bother us but we could here the music clearly in our room. The room needs some love!
- nicholas (5/5): - Location Little noisy from lang wai fong late at night
- jang61759 (10/5): Central Heaven - Excellent location in Central. Quick and friendly check-in. Comfortable and clean rooms. Great choices for breakfast.

- Kai Fung (6/5): -
- Bradley (10/5): - Good location
- Deanne (6/5): Location good . Staff helpful - Location good . Staff helpful
- Sherman (6/5): - Hotel rooms need updating, bed was super hard & uncomfortable, many features in room didn’t work. Not related to room but my credit card was compromised twice by hotel, once when the room was reserved and secondly during my stay.
- Connie (10/5): Thoroughly recommend the Ovolo HK island. Definitely would comeback again - The location was perfect. Accessible to everything on the HK island. Close to shops, access to pure gym was great. Restaurant was amazing.
The staff are first class in terms of friendliness and couldn’t do enough.
- Danial (1/5): - Bullshit Everything
- James (9/5): -
- TinaMontinola (4/5): Not So Convenient, With Major Drawbacks - We stayed here for three days and two nights. While the hotel is technically in Central, the location isn’t as convenient as it sounds. To get to Queen’s Road, the malls, and most restaurants, you need to walk about 15–20 minutes downhill. Going down is fine, but the uphill climb back to the hotel is exhausting, especially after a full day out.
The hotel itself looks chic with an art-deco boutique style, but the experience didn’t match the design. The elevator situation was terrible, during our stay only one was working, and it serves over 20 floors. It’s small, shaky, and felt unsafe. The layout is also awkward, with reception separated from the room elevators by another entrance, which makes it confusing and inconvenient.
The rooms are nicely decorated but very small for the price. The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom design wasn’t well thought out. The glass bathroom door is right beside the bed, so light from the bathroom spills into the room, making it impossible to keep it dark for sleeping.
Breakfast is served at the hotel’s vegan restaurant. Food was fine, but the restaurant only serves breakfast and closes at 4 pm. There’s no option for dinner, which makes it less convenient if you were hoping to eat at the hotel.
Overall, the vibe is chic, but between the uphill walk, tiny rooms, awkward layout, and unreliable elevators, it’s not worth the price. I wouldn’t stay here again.
- peter (2/5): awful... will never stay in any Ovolo hotel again - dirty.... noisy place to have a good night sleep... also room is much smaller than specified on website...only good thing that it is in a good location see above
- Paula (8/5): Great location - Service was impeccable and locarion was right in the middle of everything. But room was rundown. Sink had been reglazed and was peeling off. They only provided two towels and two hand towels. No washcloths. TV was acting up. But appreciated full size toiletries and Neapresso coffee.
- Bernadette (10/5): Excellent stay will come back staff were exceptional - Friendly helpful staff very considerate and thoughtful - good advice good location Maybe bigger signage

- Alina (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff were nice and attentive. The hotel was easy to get to, about a 15 min walk from Hong Kong Station and restaurants. I would stay again
- Yvonne (10/5): Exceptional -
- BrisbaneBoy_50 (10/5): - We loved our stay at Ovolo Central, largely because of the kindness and friendliness of the staff. They were unfailingly helpful and considerate. The hotel is well located, quiet and decorated with some zany touches. We ate at fhe Veda Restaurant at the hotel- great coffee and delicious vegetarian meals.
- Steven (7/5): Good -
- Kate (10/5): Excellent stay - Staff went above and beyond to be helpful. Room was spacious and clean. Nothing.
- Tanya (8/5): Very good -
- 682blakef (10/5): Great location and great hotel - The service from the moment we arrived was Devine! They let us check in early and made us feel welcome. The room itself was great. We Litterally only used our room to shower and sleep. The room was super comfy and clean, the bathroom was a good size. Such a great stay. The lady on the front desk (forgot her name but I remember she was from Thailand) was always a delight and all the staff were great.
- Manmohan (9/5): Superb -
- Sportsfan01 (10/5): A Wonderful stay at Ovolo Central - We decided to stay at Ovolo Central at the end of our cruise and loved our stay. The location was walkable to many great food and drink places in the Central area. The staff were friendly and helpful during our stay, and we appreciated their attention to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Thank you to Carlton, Pim and the delightful restaurant staff for making our stay memorable. We loved the vegetarian Indian food, breakfast offerings and the happy hour drinks. We walked from the ferry terminal to the hotel but would recommend taking a taxi/uber as Google maps doesn’t account for the many steps and uphill streets on the way to the hotel.
- Julian (8/5): Never fails to deliver and well priced vs the benchmark - Location and comfort Nothing much
- Eugenio (4/5): - Loud music until well past 1am coming up from downstairs. The windows are not soundproof :(
- Vincent (10/5): Top Notch Hotel for Business Travel - This hotel offers very convenient location with close proximity to Soho, Central business district and MTR station. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Very comfortable and spacious (in HK standard) rooms. Will recommend to all business travellers.
- Dane (10/5): - Boutique hotel, very well appointed... Close walking distance to many attractions in HK and transport links. Really enjoyed my time staying here.
- Wan (7/5): The hotel location is superb, the rooms are nice and spacious compared to other similar hotels. - The staff were very nice and accommodating. I was even given a complimentary room upgrade. The initial room I was booked in wasn't great, furniture was old and chipping. Definitely did not make a good first impression.
- Mizrahi (10/5): Exceptional -
- JDL_Traveller (8/5): Boutique hotel in a convenient location - We spent a couple of nights at the Ovolo Central, which is now part of the Hilton family of hotels. It is a tall, skinny building, with only 2 rooms per floor. The rooms are a decent size, but nothing huge. The bathroom is very well appointed, and marble/granite is everywhere. The shower is nice and large. I love the rainfall head built in from the ceiling. The towels are just OK. There is a great mini bar / coffee setup area.
There were 2 drawbacks to the room. The first is a slightly musty smell. I did notice what looked like mold on the shower wall behind the floating seat there. It is a hard to clean area. My wife reacts to mold as she is allergic, and thankfully, she had no reaction. The second issue is that this area seems to have a number of nightclubs, and even though we were on the 10th floor, I could hear a faint bass beat until 5 AM when it stopped. I am a light sleeper. It did not affect my wife.
The front desk staff are super nice, especially the afternoon fellow. He provided excellent suggestions and directions.
- Francis (8/5): Friendly staff and great service. - Staff accommodated our request for connecting rooms as we were traveling as a family.
- Bulisy (10/5): Great and memorable stay at Ovolo Central, Hong Kong - I visited Ovolo on business during the 2nd week in April. The hotel staff were very friendly, accommodating, welcoming, starting from Carlton, his colleague from New Zealand and the ladies (unable to recall their names) at the front desk; Raj, Bosco and the other staff at the Veda cafe downstairs; and the other hotel staff. The amenities in the hotel room and linen/pillows etc were all very good and I had a very memorable stay at Ovolo.

- Camper12406659829 (8/5): Centrally located but rooms very small - Stayed at this hotel in December through a deal with Luxury Escapes. The deal included breakfast which was quite good. The deal also included dinner although it was an Indian vegetarian restaurant. The hotel was centrally located on Hong Kong Island & very close to shopping & restaurants. The area is very hilly. The room was ok but very compact & the stairs from reception down to the restaurant were extremely steep & not recommended for people with mobility issues. We also stayed at a hotel in Kowloon which was much more spacious. We probably will not stay on HK Island again, different vibe & too congested. Apparently Stanley Markets on the Island are no longer a place to visit
- syrahcharles (2/5): If you like Drum and Bass music until 4am this is the place for you - Booked through Luxury Escapes a 4 night trip for the HK sevens tournament. Sadly whilst the hotel location for bars and restaurants in Central is great, the downside is that it is above a nightclub.. that goes on until 4am. You can’t escape the vibration even on the 15th floor (they moved me to a higher room). So if you are hard of hearing, an insomniac or just love the vibrations of club music in your room, this place is for you. A good nights sleep.. give it a very wide berth!! Sadly as the name suggests Luxury Escaped the Ovolo.
- Ninush10 (10/5): Super clean, location is middle of greatest nightlife and close to the train station - Amazing service from Carlton front desk. We were welcomed very well and went over everything with us. Thank you Carlton. Hotel is super clean and amazing, breakfast is A+ and amazing quality. Location is very close to Peak Tram Hong Kong which you want to see and also close to train station to the airport and I do recommend the train, it’s super easy. The only thing is the hotel is at the other side from Star pair which is around $20 USD uber or taxi ride. Location of this hotel is located in middle of all bars and night life so if your looking for that is great place.
- Di6697 (10/5): Amazing service and amazing location!! - This hotel is very beautiful and quaint.
It is close to a lot of activities and restaurants, also across the street from the, now museum and restaurants,“prison”.
But, BEST OF ALL IS THE STAFF!!!
Very welcoming, very friendly.
We got there around 1am and the night front desk host was so welcoming and helpful, had our papers ready to sign so we can get to our beautiful room and get some rest.
In the morning, Carlton, at the front desk, and Raj, at the restaurant, were more than helpful and very friendly.
All the other staff members were very nice as well.
The breakfast at the restaurant was unique and tasty.
We will definitely go back.
- Curious33728774260 (8/5): Comfortable Stay - The receptionists are helpful and friendly, shoutout to Ankit who has been extremely helpful to settle me in on my first day and for helping me to get a cab on my last day to HK station. Improvements can be made to the room itself, whereby there can be more instructions on how to use the TV, lights. Overall, still a comfortable stay. Thank you!
- C206ZCjamesl (10/5): This is really good place to stay - Love the place, small luxury hotel indeed. Room is a bit small compare to room in china where I live but that’s Hong Kong. The most important part was about the staff, they were very pleasant specially Ankit he was very helpful in my many situations. He went above and beyond.
- ChristineA2747 (10/5): Service, service, service (and location!) - Service, service, service! Loved this hotel - great location. Funky artwork and proximity to great restaurants and exhibits. What really set this hotel apart, was Carlton and the staff. He went above and beyond to make our time in Hong Kong very special, including booking us a fabulous restaurant for our anniversary/ Valentine’s Day celebration. Stay here! You won’t regret it.
- lovestravelingalone (10/5): Fun hotel and very help staff - I loved this hotel. I had stayed in the Ovolo Wooloomooloo in Sydney and loved it. Ovolo Central in Hong Kong has the same quirky style and really nice staff. Carlton was especially helpful in ideas of where to go I the neighborhood (and short cuts to avoid the many, many stairs in the city). I loved the housekeeping and restaurant staff, too. Thank you all for a wonderful stay.
- Michelle (10/5): Great location - Generally very good. Bit expensive for the room but maybe that's standard - first time in Hong Kong. Great location and food quality at Veda was very good. Staff very helpful and efficient. Would stay again.
- Catherine (10/5): - lovely rooms but word of warning the restaurant is small and quite claustrophobic
- Nicolina (4/5): - my flight was late so i didn't check into the hotel till 7pm. the staff were unhelpful, even to the point dismissive. i asked for room upgrade and got a blank NO! no one seems to like working with Expedia anymore and realised it was almost half price if id booked direct (!!) i asked for late check out, and guess what, told NO!! hotel is basic, staff have no clue what they are doing, room was basic, not even properly clean as there were crumbs on the table. i stay here because its next to our office but i think i need to reconsider options. (wondering if its new management, as the staff used to be MUCH better previously the 10 times i've stayed here! this trip seemed like an issue for them to host guests!) sad, as they don't seem to care if you stay here or not, stay regularly or not..
- Jessamine (9/5): Superb - The spaciousness of the room and the bathroom areas.
The location to Central's historic landmarks and party places but get ready to take an uphill walk when going back to your hotel at the end of the day. It's good that Uber recognizes this pick up location. The actual room looks quite worn down/ faded compared to the photographs.
- Meng (5/5): The hotel needs to be more clean. - The location is super nice. Close to the station and all the shoppings in the CBD area, great location for business trip. There are still feces in the toliet when I arrived, which is disgusting. The shower drain also doesn't work that much. The shower water was still on the floor in the morning. Also the hotel lobby is very confusing and small.
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julian (8/5): Always a great bet! - Location and convenience. Staff always friendly Little bit expensive now but still good enough
- Vacation68378701776 (2/5): Upset hotel - What a sad hotel, no toothpaste and brush and tell you it is bcos environmental friendly. Not at all! Don’t brush teeth when u travel didn’t mean u r environmental friendly!
For diamond member, platinum room TV is not function, MINI BAR no longer FREE as how they launch last december.
Service is not compatible as Hilton garden INN, so stop it,SLH. Not a SMALL LUXURY HOTEL.
Im upset with you.
- Charles (7/5): Good -
- E5593GOrichardw (10/5): Kamilla :) - Nice large room. Comfy bed. Good mini bar. Very friendly and helpful staff member on the front desk, Kamilla, made the experience even better. She went over and above to help with several requests. Amazing service with a smile. I will definitely return.
- Nirmalan (8/5): Very good -
- Suzanne (7/5): Good -
- Jeffrey (10/5): - This is THE perfect location for enjoying the Central district. Only 2 steep flights of stairs puts you in LKF, short walk to the Honk Kong station and Starr Ferry and only 35 feet away from The Big Bus stop #4. Enough about the location, the hotel is quirky, comfortable and nicely equipped. Did I mention quirky? There are only 2 rooms per floor, free washers and dryers, and a staff that rated as one of the best I have ever experienced. I can’t thank them enough for the help they offered on a personal matter and suggestions on what to do. A big thanks to Adrian for providing his contact info if we needed help or advice. I would return to the Ovolo Hotel in a heartbeat on any return visit to Hong Kong.
- John (10/5): - Highly recommend staying here. Near everything, great rooms, service and more. A wonderful boutique hotel, so private and special. If return to HK will stay here.
- Libby (5/5): Great location , the hotel needs to be updated - Staff were very helpful and responsive The Ovolo is a bit tired needs to be renovated , coffee machine not working and my bathroom towel had a hole it .
- Jayme (4/5): - U
- Sven (9/5): Superb -
- Marc (8/5): Very good -
- Philippe (8/5): Very Good stay in central Hong Kong close to to tai kwun - Central
Nice room in the upper floors so silent
Nice crew
Very convenient The sign do not disturb which is electronic and very easy to set up without noticing it unvoluntarily
In that case the room won’t be cleaned up
- Kasha (9/5): Superb -
- Naser (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): - Stunning location for wandering
- Amy (8/5): - Great location and fit out
- 363bartt (10/5): My "Go To" Hotel in Central - I've stayed at the Ovolo Central Hotel in Hong Kong several times and will continue to stay there when I visit. It is a great location in Central - a short 10-minute (uphill, be warned) walk from the Central MTR station, easy walking distance to LKF and the Central scene, but also not impacted by the late-night noises accompanying it. The rooms are spacious, updated, and clean and the hotel staff has been top-notch on all my visits. I am somewhat price-sensitive and Ovolo Central is routinely the best value for the money. Finally, Veda downstairs is a great spot for breakfast and happy hour drinks!
- Patti (9/5): Superb -
- Airida (3/5): It was a bad experience, would not recommend. It is expensive for what you get. - We liked the location, it’s near everything. The first room we got there, there were broken glass under the big mirror. And the air conditioning started leaking. We got moved to a different room. The hallways and rooms smells, there is mold everywhere, fridge didn’t work., and they didn’t do anything about it. They told us there will come someone on Monday, they never showed. So we asked to keep our food in the fridge in the reception, but the night receptionist told us to pick it up. Also The air conditioning made a lot of noise.
- Relax59534521769 (8/5): Recommend in Central - Good room condition.
Thx, Carton. When u come to Seoul, email me.
Discovering the Ovolo Hotel near Central during your business trip to Hong Kong sounds like a stroke of luck. The hotel's modern and convenient facilities make it ideal for both business travelers and tourists. If the hotel manager is also a great person, it implies excellent customer service, which is a significant advantage. It's certainly a place worth recommending to others.
