The location of the hotel is in a convenient place in the city and access to public transportation is easy.
The rooms are clean and spacious. Room service is also good and responsive.
Breakfast has a good variety and both Chinese and Western breakfast are available.
Overall, I recommend this hotel for a stay in Shanghai.

- Carol (5/5): Ok - Location Room cleanliness and smell
- Hugo (8/5): Very good -
- Irene (6/5): Marginal but certainly not a 4 star hotel - require renovation - Metro 9 or taxi that is easy to reach Dirty carpet, poor reception computer system crushing too frequently, poor restaurants food type options
- Irene (6/5): Hotel is below the expectation - Reasonable location ( not center but with metro number 9 and easy taxi around) Old and dirty carpet. Quality and types of food in restaurants are poor. Poor quality cafe. Broken non function computers in reception too frequently
- Irene (7/5): Marginally ok - Hotel is rather old. Carpet is dirty and sticky. Reception computers too often break down and not functioning. Restaurant food quality is significantly degraded as compared previously yrs. Overall, it does not fit for the standard of 4 star hotel
- johnnylee1128 (10/5): NYE in Taipei - I stay here whenever I visit Taipei. I came here to NYE with some friends and and recommended the hotel to them as well. It’s very central and right next to a metro station. Taxis are abundant as well. Staff is very nice and there’s just many eating options that are walking distance.
- seeseen (8/5): Shanghai trip - nice location- just 5 mins to MRT, walking distance to shop, close to resident area. each to get taxi and friendly front desk with able to speak English and except foreigner currency exchange thru machine. Hotel a little old but nice to stay
- 319wouterv (6/5): Great hotel - Good hotel in Shanghai. Close to the metro station that brings you into the city center. Room are a little bit dated but clean. Bed is perfect. The have a very good breakfast.
The service of the staff is excellent. Not everybody is speaking fluent Englisch.
- JoannesH3 (4/5): Downgraded Service - I am not sure if we stayed there in the wrong time because we suffered the stay during the whole period. The room was hot and stuffy. We requested to be able to control the temperature without any success. The hotel loaned us a electric fan which is the first time I have ever experienced during my many decades of staying at various hotels from 3 stars to 5 starts ones. Then we had no choice but taking the advice from the hotel to open the window. Unfortunately. when we open the window, we lose the privacy to a certain degree. Then I caught cold without realizing because the desk was nest to the window which I used frequently. The management promised to take care of this situation but never showed up to even talk with us. I stayed in this hotel before many time and had never experienced such a bad situation. In addition, the room cleaning was not acceptable.
I noticed that one day the sheet was replaced with a show mark on it. Fortunately I specifically watch the sheet replacement and it was changed to one without.
Then, one day when we wanted to go out, my wife asked the concierge people how to go out and if we can get a taxi, the answer was that you had to go out to the street to get your own taxi cab since they usually don't want to drive in. Later after several times of watching the empty taxi cab driving in and no luck of getting the taxi cab by ourselves, we were told by the taxi cab driver that they were called in by the Hotel people. Then we went back to question why did they tell us that they can do this for us and instead to ask ourselves to go out to try our luck, especially under the bad weather.
- JohnSydney2016 (10/5): Fantastic first night - We booked a superior room and it was certainly spacious. As well as the usual inclusions like bottled water and toiletries, the mini-bar (no alcohol) is also included.
The buffet breakfast was great.
This hotel is a great option for Western tourists.
In regard to metro access, a stop for Line 9 is right next to the hotel. As well, within one or two stops you have access to many other metro lines.
- Prushjobs (10/5): A very comfortable and pleasant place to stay - I stayed here as it was near the client I was working with. The hotel is very friendly, all the staff are helpful and pleasant, the beds are wonderful, the rooms are clean, in fact the whole hotel is clean. Their western food was far better than I have had in many Chinese hotels, and their Chinese food was superb. I did not get a chance to see the surroundings but could tell it was surrounded by many good shopping facilities. I have come away very impressed, as I have stayed at many not so good hotels for similar prices.
- jacqueshacq (8/5): Nice, pleasant hotel - This hotel was a very good one. I stayed here for a total of 7 days. Even though it is a chinese hotel brand, it was managed in a very western way. I stayed at the everbright hotel and conference center before coming here. San Want hotel is much better than Everbright...even though I think they're both similarly rated. San Want also has a decent and clean gym. That is something that is rare in Chinese hotels (gym and clean). Room was clean, nice and had good, reliable wifi.
- 530wasifm (8/5): Good experience, not so nice location - I was booked in this hotel by my company when i was visiting shanghai for two weeks in November last year. The hotel itself was decent. Grand lobby and helpful staff. They have a little trouble understanding english but i have had worse experiences in China. The room was decent. Quite spacious for a standard room. The breakfast was great! There is a train station about 3 minutes walk away but this place is far from the nicer touristy places in shanghai. Not many amenities in the area around the hotel either. I will probably not stay at this hotel if i am travelling by myself just because of the location.
- Jodett (10/5): Shanghai - We stayed for two days while we explored the area. the subway is literally next door, which was so convenient. The rooms are spacious and clean. There was free wi-fi and your typical freebies of shampoo, toothbrush, condoms and razor. A lady came by our door daily in the early evening offering free fruit. We didnt stay long enough to use all the amenities but there were restaurant, bar, spa and exercise equipment. I am very pleased with our experience and the price was better than other hotels for the price. I feel very fortunate picking this hotel based on a few reviews.
- srikantlal (6/5): Business Stay for two weeks: Average - Company had booked this hotel for our two weeks in Shanghai.
The hotel is extremely far from the Pudong airport, which i believe could be said for most of the hotels in Shanghai.
The experience was bad partly due to ongoing construction on the street in front. The construction would go on till late at night.
It was also not so easy to hail a cab from the place. I remember standing in the middle of the street trying to stop a cab to no avail.
The gym was very-very average for a hotel of such size.
- GalenaG (6/5): bad service - +the hotel amenities are nice and well-kept.
+there is one boy from concierge, who is very good.
+subway station nearby.
however, receptionists are very rude, and i was double charged for the same room. When I had spent arguing with them for 1 hour, they reconsidered and returned back my money. Instead of apologizing, the front office manager was arrogant.
Check your bills.
The restaurant is way over-priced and they speak no English.
I had ordered a fruit plato of one specific fruit and then they brought me everything but the fruit, and when I showed pictures and used verbal English-Chinese dictionary to explain, they said "please, pay the bill"
Every communication was so hard for a 5 star hotel.
- aftabsiddiqui (8/5): Good hotel for Business Travellers - Stayed here twice within the span of 2 weeks. The only issue I faced to start with was its distance from Airport (Pudong). Its really very far and if you are taking taxi during day time then expect not less then 200 RMB and 250 RMB at night. Although with 3 interchanges you can get to the Metro Station Guilin which is 100m walking distance to the hotel. Amenities were all there except dodgy 24/7 room service. Breakfast was good as well and there is a very nice Chinese restaurant in the hotel. Staff was helpful and nice. But I faced Air-Con issue in the middle of night twice.
- Whistlers_11 (6/5): An Englishman in Shanghai - I had a week's work in the Caohejing hi tech park. This hotel is well placed for that being very close to the subway and only one stop from the park.
However the hotel Is starting to look a little tired, but is clean and well managed. I found it to be reasonably priced.
The breakfast was very good, but I did not use the restaurant in the evening. There are lots of other options not too far away.
All the reception staff that I approached could speak English and were very helpful.
- travelbusinessman (4/5): Business people, avoid this hotel - I stayed here twice recently, a month ago and yesterday. I am a business man, and this hotel definitly dont have the regular 4* facilities. No rooms service 24 hours. And this is very bad for travellers checking in late in the evening. Breakfast room is open only until 9.30am. So if are not an ealry morning person, you will miss your breakfast. Most hotels around the world offer breakfast till 10.30am. Both times i stayed there, at the time of checking out, they invoiced me higher price for the room and for car transfer from whay was confirmed before my arrival. The rooms are spacious but very odd layout. First time, i got a room with the tv on the side of the bed. Second time, the tv was like 10 meters away from the bed. They close the hot water in the afternoon till 6pm, so if you need to take a shower before 6pm, you have only cold water. Concierge and porters are good and friendly, but i cannot say the same for the receptionists. Location is good though. I will not go back to this hotel again.
- ManfredH511 (6/5): Reasonable Hotel in acceptable location - This Hotel is a typical Chinese style Hotel. Large rooms, fully equiped, free Wlan, mainly Chinese guests. Room is acceptable clean, breakfast good.
Location also not too bad - not too far from Hongqiao Airport, not too far from City center. Subwat Station is just around the corner, therfore all places in Shanghai conveniently to reach.
- stomper1001 (10/5): Nothing but positive - Great Hotel. The rooms are very nice and functional. Some nice amenities with the room including complimentary snacks and fruit. Free WIFI available in the rooms (you have to ask for a router though) and the breakfast buffet was extraordinary! Would definitely stay there again. The only caveat is that the hotel is far from the downtown area but a subway station is located near by.
- 978MichaelK (8/5): Good hotel at good price - I should really keep this hotel a a secret, but they offer excellent rooms, nice service at a good price.
The location may not be the best, but there is everything within walking distance.
Staff is very friendly and rooms are nice and clean.
- Galaxeo (8/5): Excellent hotel. Friendly service. 2 min away from Line 9 Guiling station. - 4 star standard. Quiet room and comfortable bed. Really the place to stay for business in the West side of Shanghai. Plenty small restaurants around at 30/50 RMB but also more high end ones. Staff at the Babylon cafe very friendly. 30 minutes by metro to the Bund.
