- PIERRE (10/5): Le Calme, la beauté, la gentillesse et une vue sublime. -
- Chanel (10/5): A gem in the heart of Florence - The property was absolutely stunning and the staff was so friendly and kind. The views of Florence were breathtaking and only a short taxi ride from the city center, you can also walk if you’re up for it! There was nothing I did not like, the stay was perfect.
- Siyu (10/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): -
- Yu (10/5): what a beautiful hotel. - Appreciate for the staff named Jonathan. think you for the perfect and professional service management. none
- Harriet (8/5): Beautiful view over Florence, not that easy to get to later on at night without getting a taxi. - Great staff and a lovely breakfast. A really stunning entrance hall ceiling and a beautiful building with incredible views over Florence. Very peaceful and I imagin the pool and gardens in summer would be lovely. Nice and warm in room for an older building. bathroom not 100% clean, no shower but shower head over bath water went everywhere. A bit of shame the hotel was nearly empty but out in a room without a proper window and more expensive than the other hotel I stayed in the night before.
- Rosie (4/5): Nice view but not worth the money - Beautiful view of the city, nice grounds, building has lots of history. We were put in a dark basement type room next to breakfast - very noisy from 7am. Upset due to the hotel not being at full capacity and booking two months in advance for our anniversary. Room had bugs in it and after we complained we were moved to a nicer room that still had loads of bugs. Breakfast was very average.
- Sarah (5/5): Beautiful place lacking services and amenities. - A beautiful location with a building that has character and history. The gardens and views are beautiful. The hotel is really badly equipped. You cant even make a tea/ coffee in the room, no mini bar, no restaurant or hotel bar. You are completely in the middle of nowhere and it would be great to have these things accessible since you cant really easily get to anywhere. We came during low season but the hotel was empty and felt quite scary, empty hallways and rooms and very dimly lit… it wasnt cosy and inviting at all. Although our room was really nice with a lovely view, the whole place could be a little “modernised” with new shower heads and better lighting. The empty hotel spaces were giving “dracula” vibes with the old chairs and decoration choices… the building and gardens are so beautiful its a shame they dont have more “life” to it… the breakfast was very mediocre. Overall this property could use a little TLC to make guests feel more welcome. You should consider reading peoples reviews since many have suggested a tea/coffee bar for years and you have not listened to their recommendations which is a shame. It has potential but its lacking :( although the location is nice, keep in mind you are far away from any shops/ restaurants and if you want to sight see i would recommend being closer to town.
- Dan (10/5): - Quiet Nothing to dislike
- Victoria (10/5): -
- Frydman (1/5): - We did love that the villa itself is truly special it feels like a step back in time and is filled with beautiful art and history. Unfortunately, the hotel is far too expensive for what you actually get. While the villa itself is beautiful, the rooms are very old and worn out. They were full of mosquitoes, the carpet was dirty, and the bathtub was in poor condition. When we arrived, the air conditioning wasn’t working, and overall the room felt unfit for a comfortable stay. Because of that, we decided to leave after the first night.
To their credit, the staff did offer to move us to another room, but the other rooms were also in poor condition.
- Edward (2/5): Avoid this property - The location Some of the rooms are better than others-much better. After investigating the property I found some rooms that had better views than others.I conveyed this to the hotel management and I was assigned room 4.When we arrived at the property the concierge-a nice guy-took us to 2 rooms. One room had one window and the other looked over the outdoor breakfast area. They start setting up breakfast, which is very mediocre,at around 5am.The room had two floors and the bedroom was on the 2nd level up 4 steps.I hit my head 4 times on the very low arch at the top of the stairs. No warnings of the danger.I take blood thinners and it can be quite dangerous to get an internal bleed. The bathroom was horrible,no shower, only a wand and and old rusted fixtures and very pedestrian toiletries.Breakfast is a buffet.I have been to much better throughout Europe, much better when considering this hotels ranking and status.I mentioned several times that I was very disappointed in the hotel, particularly about my room.I have correspondence from them on Booking.com which indicates ‘don’t worry Edward we have booked you in room 4 with views of the pool and and Florence’.We ended up looking over the breakfast area.Very disappointed especially after the staff agreed that a mistake was made.It turns out I was bumped out of my room because they had a better customer who comes every year.Thats fine from their part, but not from mine.If I had known about my room change I could have simply cancelled and stayed in another one of the fine hotels around Florence that I have stayed in.Instead I was given the old bait and switch. The one and only reason I booked this hotel was for the view and the grounds. This was one of the worst hotel rooms I have ever stayed in.In a lovely spot that’s all that I can add.I don’t usually review a bad situation but this was horrible. Also beware of the bed which had steps on one side that required navigation immediately after getting up.Ridiculous.
- jutta (8/5): Außergewöhnlich, wenige Zimmer, Pool, toller Park, private Atmosphäre - tolle Lage mit sensationellem Blick auf Florenz Das Einzelzimmer, durfte dann aber wechseln
- Amy (10/5): - We absolutely adored this hotel in every way. The views were not to be believed. It was only a 10 to 15 taxi to anywhere in Florence. Heavenly. My only suggestion is please add a shower curtain to the bath/ shower area so the water doesn’t spray all over the bathroom. Otherwise, this place will exceed anyone’s expectations and dreams! GRATZI!
- Jiali (10/5): -
- Fran (9/5): Dreamy - Everything
- TAMARA (10/5): - It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed.
Would love to come here again)
- Zhang (10/5): -
- Martin (9/5): Muy buen hotel con excelente vista de Florencia - La piscina y su vista Tenía algunas cosas viejas que no funcionaban tan bien como las manillas
- Oxana (10/5): -
- Whittington (10/5): -
- iling (4/5): - The grounds are very pretty, very Tuscany, beautiful view but the rooms are very bad. The staffs are very nice, very helpful but the hotel itself is very dated. Everything is not well maintained. The futon are so worn out that you can feel the metal bars. We left the hotel with very bad back pain. The hotel is very cheap with their towels and toilet paper and never replenish their toiletry supplies. We are a family of four but are only given 3 bath towels. The breakfast doesn’t get replenish when item runs out so make sure you’re the early risers. Overall definitely not worth the high price tags for the rooms.
- Wynn (10/5): This Villa will take you back in time. It is a truly magical place. The staff is very friendly. The food was superb. - The location, property and view. Nothing. It was perfect.
- jerry (10/5): You got to do it! - Wonderful experience. More than I ever paid for a place to stay but worth the once in a lifetime experience!
- Philip (10/5): A privilege to stay in a historic house that has not lost its character by being converted into a modern hotel. Enormous - Perfect escape away from the centre of Florence
- Jade (10/5): A beautiful serene location, quintessential, would suit the discerning guest who values privacy - Breakfast was delicious and relaxed in a beautiful setting The property is old so some things didn’t work like the window and the door handle fell off but you expect this with an old property
- Graham (10/5): A heavenly, Beautiful location above the lovely city of Florence. The pool and gardens are a wonder - Breakfast was good. Staff were excellent and very welcoming. The location and the views are outstanding. Plugs and adapters in rooms.
- theresa (10/5): - This property was the most unique and historic that I have ever experienced. It is set atop the hills over looking Florence, with other castles seen in the distance. It was beautiful and picturesque from every angle. The house has a significant ~600yr old history amongst well known families in Florence, with the current owner living in a house on the property. An optional cooking class was offered at their home, and we unfortunately did not have the time to take part in this. The grounds are beautifully manicured with many things to see including chickens, vegetable gardens, and fragrant rose gardens. The room was clean, bed comfortable, bathroom beautifully decorated with classic tiles. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I felt like a guest in a castle. I only wish we had more time there, but will definitely visit again on another trip.
- Ellen (7/5): Good -
- Tim (6/5): Glorious location, but some updates wouldn't go a miss. (Wi-Fi - in the room would have been good) - The location and the views are fantastic.
The building is beautiful. I would have preferred a shower as well as the bath - even a shower over the bath would have been better.
Booking.com tried to take money from me, luckily my card declined it, but even though I asked the hotel why (and there is no way to ask booking.com directly) I did not get an explanation as to why this happened
- Brad (10/5): - Beautiful property and wonderful staff.
- Alexia (9/5): Stunning location - beautiful building. - The location of this hotel is quite simply stupendous. It has the most amazing view overlooking Florence. There is a lovely path down to town through olive groves - about half an hour's walk to the Pitti Palace. The building is also spectacular - stunning ceilings and lovely loggia. Charming staff - very low key. Breakfast is fine - v much help yourself. It would have been nice to be able to make a cup of tea/coffee in the room. The soaps etc were v basic and my bubble bath was removed so I had none for the second night! However I don't really care about all these very minor points as it is the most stunning hotel.
- Josh (10/5): Far from the Maddening Crowds - Truly magical place. Beautiful 12th century palazzo with sweeping views of Florence and lovely gardens. A path through olive orchards and vineyards leads to Porta Romano, right above the Boboli Gardens. It's a great neighborhood, full of restaurants and cafes, far removed from tourist crowds in the center of the city.
Service is gracious, understated.
About half dozen of the most friendly cats in the world live there - and will likely greet you soon after arrival.
- Ashley (1/5): Bad - None, the breakfast was not good either. Check my long bad review below. Please DO NOT COME TO THIS HOTEL. If I’m not mistaken the management lady’s name is Ann but I’m not sure. This woman is very rude, entitled and self absorbed. What happened was it was 7:00pm and I asked if it was too late to order the hotel dinner(you’re supposed to put down your order before 6), the nice door man said no it’s too late, but this old woman was standing beside him and overheard me asking and she said we can take the order in. So I put in my order and am told to go to the restaurant at 8pm for my dinner. At 7:40 I go out for a smoke and literally see my dinner get taken out of a car by a man and the food is in boxes and plastic bags, I go inside and the doorman playfully says your food is here. I sit in the restaurant area 8pm sharp and start to wait. About 8:20 a sad sad dish of bread with ( supposed to be beef) brown paste is served and it turns out there’s a miss communication in the appetizer menu, it tasted spot on like dog food though. Later I am loosing my mind out of starvation and I tell the only poor girl serving the 5 guests eating in that restaurant to please bring my food and I have been waiting too long. The food does arrive at 9:00pm but everything was cold already and the proportion were very small and the food tasted BAD. Later the old woman who I think is the manager comes out asking if everything is okay, and I am not ok so I tell her the service is awful here and I waited AN HOUR FOR HER TO GET THE FOOD OUT OF THE BOX AND INTO A PLATE. And her attitude towards HER poor management was awful, she did not apologized or acknowledge anything about her poor management, and put her palm in my face saying “I don’t want to waste my time back and forth with this issue”. She claims it’s not her problem or responsibility for me not knowing that they actually don’t cook the food, and this is her excuse for taking an hour to get the food out of the box and onto a plate in an hour? PLEASE DO NOT give this lady anymore business.
- Deepa (9/5): Superb - Such a beautiful garden and such a beautiful property - really loved my time here. The breakfast was not appetizing - it would have been nice to have had some hot foods instead of just cold things.
- Serhat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): - One of our most memorable hotel stays ever. Further away from major sights in Florence but still walkable, and best views of Florence anywhere, including from our windows, almost feels as if you could reach out with your hand and touch the Duomo. Most under-rated hotel in Florence, only a few guests there during our trip during low season in January, but this made it feel like our own private villa. 700 year old building, creaky furniture and floors adds to its charm. Make sure to take the cooking class!
- Natalie (9/5): Superb - The property is incredible. We loved the cats and the donkeys. The history was beautiful. The breakfast was a bit lacking but generally ok.
- Taylor (1/5): We got rained on in our bedroom because the ceiling was leaking and they reluctantly moved us to another room. - The grounds are very beautiful, and the architecture is impressive. You can tell the building was once a beautiful hotel. It was very dirty, the staff was unhelpful (except for Daniela), and the hotel is not very accommodating. It felt like you would need to travel with a butler in order to truly enjoy such a large and dated property.
- James (9/5): Superb - Location is excellent. The surrounding grounds are magical.
- Josh (10/5): This home is beautiful, it’s authentic. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive.. the guests where all so lovely and - This home had so much character and charm, it felt real. It wasn’t perfect but that’s what made it so perfect. There was so much to explore and to find during my stay here, each day I was discovering something new. It had nothing that I didn’t like
- Fleur (10/5): A memorable stay. - Breakfast was excellent and the terrace it was served on was stunningly beautiful.
The property is unique in a beautiful setting, it was nice to be away from the crowds in Florence city centre and have the opportunity to stay in a 12th, to 13th century villa. The surrounding gardens are beautiful. Maybe coffee in the room. .
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (6/5): Pleasant - Views and grounds were wonderful Breakfast was very poor the fresh were cordial and fresh juices breads were only stale white bread and not yogurt’s.
There was no social area for drinks and the food option was limited with prepackaged pizzas being the only option.
- James (10/5): Best hotel I've ever stayed at - Probably the most scenic hotel in Florence and has all the facilities you need. Slightly far out from the city. But still walkable
- Andrey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (10/5): Great stay with stunning views of Florence - Stunning location, views and accommodation. Lovely outdoor pool with amazing views. Staff were super helpful in particular Babakar & Giuseppe. Food provided both at breakfast & dinner was excellent in quality & range.
- Lisa (8/5): Wonderful property but rooms need cleaning and refreshing! - Loved the property and the serenity The rooms need a thorough cleaning. Ours was dirty. Needs a good scrubbing and freshening up!
- Iryna (9/5): Superb - The hotel is very atmospheric, friendly staff, clean rooms. I was especially impressed by the landscape and the pool with an incredible city view I didn't like the kitchen, especially the very small selection of dishes
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - The property is stunning and the pictures on the website do not do it justice.
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional - What is not to like if your looking for a place to stay with breathtaking views and true italian architecture this is it We liked it all
- Tracey (10/5): Well located peaceful but still easy to get into Florence would recommend highly. - Beautifully maintained hotel, traditional Tuscan villa with a lovely pool and fantastic views. Nothing
- Colby (8/5): Unique property with stunning views overlooking Florence - Unique property, gorgeous setting and views The bathroom was extremely small and there was no shower and the bath was extremely tiny which made it next to impossible to wash your hair
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (10/5): Beautiful - Beautiful building, rooms, grounds and pool. Friendly staff. Great views. Nothing
- Leni (10/5): Exceptional -
- William J (10/5): UNIQUE hotel - A stunning location with fantastic views of Florence. Incredibly historic building with unique character.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
This isn't a chain hotel and has some quirks that are completely befitting the character of the property.
Highly recommended.
- Jeremy (10/5): Beautiful property friendly staff wonderful setting - Beautiful gardens and view Nothing
- Linda (10/5): Overall it was a really good experience and the welcoming staff made it even better! - We stayed here one night wish we had stayed longer the property is beautiful and close to the city. Loved the staff we were welcome by a young gentleman who was so lovely and welcoming! The room was amazing! Only one thing I would like to mention is that I purchased A curling iron and hair dryer in Italy so I wouldn’t have to worry about the converters or outlet adapters but I couldn’t find a plug in the room that worked for them.
- Karen (9/5): Beautiful hotel lovely staff a treat to stay there - The location was great twenty five minutes to centre of Venice
Pool was amazing after a hot day sightseeing
Rooms beautiful Not having tea making facilities in room
- Vincent (10/5): - Great historic hotel, with a beautiful view. We appreciated that they had gluten free options for breakfast. We would recommend!
- Braidy (10/5): - This was the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at and we only wished we stayed longer. The staff were amazing and overall it was stunning.
- Lorraine (5/5): Our stay was enjoyable but the facilities would need to be updated before we could return. - The location was beautiful and the view of Florence, spectacular. The facilities need to be updated especially the bathrooms. Some did not even have a proper shower.
- Steven (8/5): excellent location -
- Jane (9/5): Unforgettable stay! - Beautiful, unique, gorgeous setting
Peaceful and relaxing
- Andrew (4/5): We were a little disappointed when we arrived but it grew on us and we were satisfied overall. - Position of hotel and the views over Florence. Pool area was pretty and quiet, staff were very good and polite when you saw them. Lovely hotel gardens. No overhead shower in the room only a bath. Breakfast was pretty basic; granola, cheese & ham, pastries, fruit or scrambled eggs & bacon and toast. No choice for vegis/vegan. Not even plant based milks so we suffered in silence. It seemed like you were in someones empty house.
- Erin (10/5): It was a perfect sanctuary to return to after a busy day exploring Florence. - Everything! The history, the architecture, the views over Florence, the gardens, the pool…
- Juan (8/5): Very good -
- Kells (10/5): We booked this as a treat on our holiday and wow it sure was a treat - EVERYTHING. It was an amazing property and we loved our stay there. Nothing. It was all fabulous!
- Fiona (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Quiet and charming getaway minutes from Florence - The location is incredible. We really found this to be such a lovely spot to unwind after visiting friends in Florence. I honestly can’t imagine staying in the city when you have such beauty only a 10 minute car ride away! The breakfast was a bit standard.
- Satbir (10/5): - Amazing hotel and Staff! Definitely coming here again during our next trip to Italy!
- Wendy (10/5): Such a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting - The location of the hotel was perfect, we couldnt ask for more. The amazing views of Florence, the fact you can walk into Florence in about 20 minutes but also it was so easy to get a taxi in and out of the city too. The tranquil setting of the hotel was just amazing, leaving the busy city and within no time at all return the beautiful gardens, pool and view across Florence. We loved it so so much, it was everything we had wanted for No coffee making facilities in the room - needed to go to the bar and order a hot drink
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Heaven
peaceful welcoming stepping back into what is important about travel
- Viviane (8/5): Outstanding views! - Beautiful views. Friendly staff, good breakfast. The views were outstanding but it is quite a walk to the center.
- Blue (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (7/5): Love the building and history! - Location and Roberto and room size Mosquitoes and dated bathroom
- Einat (8/5): Very good -
- Palmer (8/5): Very nice, staff was great! - Beautiful!
- Mb (10/5): Memorable stay - Everything was absolutely exceptional Nothing
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Torre di Bellosguardo is a magical place, like stepping back in time, like being part of history.
The building, the art, the grounds, the view, the staff; all combined to make our stay very special. It was expensive and showing its age, but this is nothing we didn't expect. It certainly didn't detract from the experience.
- Amelia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cameron (4/5): Definitely not a 4 star hotel anymore - This is definitely not a 4 star hotel.
The good: located in quiet neighborhood with amazing views of Florence. Beautiful gardens.
The bad: our first room didn’t hit have hot water or a real shower, just a bath tub and wand. We were moved to a new room (which also didn’t have hot water until we complained again) but the toilet barely functioned in this room. Rooms and hotel generally need to be remodeled. The couch in our room was old and stained. The pool isn’t heated, so despite being 80F outside the water was too cold to really enjoy (late September).
What made our stay even worse is that when we called Hotels.com they told us that since hot water and a functioning toilet aren’t listed amenities, they would not help us find a new hotel.
Disappointing hotel experience l, TERRIBLE Hotels.com experience.
- Xiangzhi (9/5): Superb - The quiantness and oldworld charm. The history of the place. The interior decor could be updated a bit such as TV.
- Kevin (10/5): All around the most amazing hotel I’ve ever stayed at - Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect. It was the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever seen and the service was impeccable. Babacar was incredibly friendly and helpful Everything was perfect
- Kaitlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susie (7/5): So glad to have been there. - It’s beauty & location - with a spectacular view of Florence in the setting sun & the moon rising over the Tuscan hills.
The person who greeted us, Babacar, could not have been kinder. Breakfast on the terrace offered delicious food, abundantly with an attentive server.
It was a special treat to meet & visit with the owner! The bartender didn’t know how to make a gin martini (there was no gin in it) but charged a lot for it anyway.
- David (8/5): Very memorable and enjoable but the hotel needs a refresh - Amazing views and atmosphere. Great gardens to explore. A little austere The bathrooms are dated would benefit from better lighting in general.
- Kim (10/5): Perfect. Highly highly recommend. - Absolutely Beautiful and historic. Quiet, peaceful, stunning views of Florence . Breakfast was great … and walking in ti the city is doable . Galileo lived there for awhile .. how cool !! Everything was excellent
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely stunning ! The breakfast was delicious !
- Didier (10/5): Magical! - The property was like a fairytale and very romantic. The view was incredible! Everyone was very kind and helpful.
- Takuma (10/5): - Great scenery of florence, friendly staff, comfort classical room.
- Fiona (9/5): Beautiful hotel & grounds, with stunning views of Florence - Absolutely stunning hotel and grounds. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Make sure you're aware of where the location is when you book. Walkable into Florence and you can walk back but this does involve some steep hills. Taxis are easily bookable and staff can help with this.
- Felicity (10/5): Location, facilities and staff all made for a wonderful stay - Quality and location of the breakfast was excellent Nothing. The whole experience was excellently
- Shindi (7/5): The hotel is amazing , the location is super , but expected to get a better experience being in Florence when it comes t - Location and style No activity , wine tasting was expected in such a property
